This is somewhat depressing. There are no guilds out there this match that can field in a 20v20 GvG?

I know we’ve faced like 5 different guild groups with 20’s and HOPE would love to fight you. Call it a practice GvG even, but we’d love to fight. Heard back from TE, VR, Ark, and BEAST for 15’s, and we’re still looking for 20! DDLG, INC, DR, any one..?

Now do any guilds run something besides a hammer train. Every SINGLE guild from SBI is a hammer train, how about adding some diversity and running something different.

Really? You all need to go back to school and learn to count. Was more than 35. On the mag BL, there wasn’t much of this "running separately, that you are speaking of. We had 2 small zergs going, and after you wiped one, you ran and wiped the other. And there was about 60 in that zerg, easily.

I don’t usually post on these forums, but I thought I’d give it a go. We on SBI are aware that we most likely are not ready to go against the core T1 servers. Honestly, that does not matter to us. We are here to play our best and see how far we can go.

There has been a lot of talk in game that the servers we are facing are tanking on purpose to avoid the Gold League. If that is true for anyone then I ask that you come at us with everything, as we are trying to get an accurate idea of where we stand. Like many servers, SBI has its share of fair weather players, uplevels, and inexperienced undergeared players who do not get on Teamspeak. Despite this, we are continuing to move forward as a server as best we can. There are many guilds and players on SBI that have not been content over the past few weeks of blowouts, and have been improving themselves in preparation for a matchup like the one we have now. As a member of SBI I can say we are thrilled to have a chance to prove ourselves against such worthy opponents as FA and Mag.

As a member of Abys I would like to ask that we not be underestimated even though we are newcomers to SBI, and come from a lower tiered server such as Darkhaven. As I am sure any FA who were in their bl last night can attest, we love a good fight and can do surprising things with our numbers.

BTW, the only reason you were able to overtake us, is because we had a guild that went to bed at that time.

High PPT doesn’t mean your good, just means you have more coverage. On the other hand, neither does 2 mag roamers double teaming on a single roamer.

Numbers wins. tis true. And, when you took our garrison, you had more numbers. But, it took you awhile to take it, and that was after we knocked you back from hills in FA BL.

All in all, it is a good matchup. I have been having fun. I am not joining in any pvf, just stating facts.

Anyways, I am quite curious to see if Mag can overtake FA for 2nd place. They are really chipping at FA’s heals now. I would normally root for the underdog, in this case Mag, but it is hard to root for a server that has so many Kittens.

As far as SBI being terrible, we took that nice reset night lead, and have slowly built upon it, all the while some Mag forum posters have kept saying that we aren’t showing up.

At least FA has class.

BTW, SBI has a great, organized community and an active forum which help new comers to blend in and form the server identity. It is really a kitten place (purr)

We do have a server identity. The main guilds from the summer are still here. We have guilds that transferred in, and we welcomed them and are having a good time with them.

Maybe you are just kitten because they chose to transfer to SBI, instead of your server? Maybe it is because we have more fun on our server?

I can’t excuse you from being so buttmad that DB got beaten in a match because they had less people that you had to xfer to a server where they had more people in order to satiate your dislike for the server that beat your smaller server because they were a bigger server and then claim that ppt of your new server makes you better than a server you don’t like because reasons.

If you have to compare the rise of SBI, then TC might be the better comparison than Kaineng.

I think it is exactly like Kaineng. TC was more a steady progression of a guild here and there over time, no massive jumps in ranks, at least as far as I remember.

Our progression was steady – it was hard to notice it since we had poor matchups for the last weeks.

Kaineng’s rise happened when WarMachine moved there from SBI, taking many of our WvW dedicated guilds (and gathering others) and stating that they wanted to go from the last tier to the first. They had 600+ ppt constantly till T2. When they stalled in T2 they crashed.

On SBI, just like in TC (a server that we appreciate and respect more than many others) we have great pride in our community and extra WvW stuff. You know PvE, special server wide events, good forums and so on. WvW is one part of what we do – it’s going well now and that’s great.

Even if we drop again to T4 there’s no big deal. We’re enjoying it right now. And yes maybe our guilds and people will be bought (but why come to a t4 server in the first place ? there was never talk about us going T1-2 back when most of these transferred. I’m sure they could have been bought back then). But some people will stay and I’ll still play with them. PvX.

SBI has been my home since launch, and I can care less what tier I fight in, I just love to run in WvW and have fun. We also have great commanders that I like to follow, Like Star Player, Bannok, Grundlebad, Miss Itsy, Dhomei Ventus, and Fiddlesticks.

Don’t transfer. I have only called one server home in GW2 since launch, and that has been SBI. We dropped just like you are dropping, but I stayed. Whether you are #1 or #15, it doesn’t really matter, you can still have good fights and fun in WvW. I remember, before the random mathups, facing mag and cd alot, and even though mag won all the time, it was fun, and we had some epic battles. cd and us would switch between 2nd and 3rd place alot in those days.

So, don’t waste the gold to transfer servers. You will eventually settle out into a spot, and have some great fights. Who knows, maybe in the future, guilds will transfer to your server and you will once again move up the ladder.

nah, we just started spreading out more as the match went on. We had to contend with FA also, and we stormed Hills before I logged. Was a fun night. I haven’t had a good equal fight like that in a long time (I logged off while everyone was still +200 ppt).

Well, the way I see it is that WvW is supposed to be a “war.” Now, in what war do you see roamers (more like spec ops) expose themselves to enemy units of company size or larger?

Most wars are fought by the grunts, who are amassed in massive sizes. In the army it is broken down by brigade, battallion, company, platoon, squad. And typically, the side with the most numbers will win. Technology can help limit the numbers of the opposing faction, and also limit the numbers of troops needed to be sent in, but the most troops will win.

The spec ops (roamers) do play key parts in the war, but they don’t win it.

So, in my opinion, WvW is being fought like any regular war. I would also conclude that this is just in our nature, to fight wars this way, since it has been the same since recorded history.

Go SBI, sneak up and take the 6th spot.

Same old story, it’s happened to MANY servers already. What can you do about it? Help rebuild your community. AR at one point was a T5 server, after clawing our way out from T7. Long story short, several huge 500 man guilds transferred out or went dead (coincidentally one of them went to DB) and we dropped to rock bottom as The Last Place server. However, through the efforts of our community, we’re making our way up now. Its been 26 weeks and counting since we came first, but we came 2nd for the first time in 13 weeks just 2 weeks ago. A hard work in progress, but progress nonetheless.

In any case, you don’t know the meaning of ghost town and dead wvw until you’ve reached this pit. We’ve come out of the crucible stronger for it, and even better, it’s given everyone a tangible sense of achievement. tl;dr it’s not the end of the world, and the best fights comes when you’re outnumbered and outgunned around every corner.

agreed. SBI went through this, and a lot of other servers, other than DB, are going through it right now.

I liked it more when we had tougher opponents, it gave us something to do. Stomping servers really isn’t fun at all. It turns WvW into one big place to chop down some trees….cause there isn’t anything else to do when you have captured everything.

Plz, we would beat Mag now. Back when they had us outnumbered, we could still compete with them, until off peak hours. Now that we have coverage there, we could beat them.

SoS, I am not sure. I do remember owning them during primetime, but then losing everything during off times.

I think our coverage is pretty strong now. I just look forward to leagues, so I can get some achievements in WvW. Tired of PvE getting all the achievements.

they arent taking up spots that would otherwise be filled.
they are playing in an area that is out of the way of any normal pathing you would take to any objective or pve event.
(hell, they would probably help any uplevel get the nearby skill point)

Three week epic tank-a-thon between SoS, DB and Mag to determine which server has to suffer in the Gold League.

SBI might actually take the #6 spot just in time for leagues.

I have been on SBI since launch, but didn’t really get into WvW until Jan, which was after many guilds left and we fell down the rankings to 14th (or 15th was the lowest). I can say that the people who never transferred off of SBI wouldn’t mind being 6th. All summer we had a strong core of people, and we could compete with almost all the servers we faced during primetime, we just didn’t have the coverage during off peak hours.

I remember one day, complaining about ppt, while we were facing DB (and gettin killed), and Star Player told me to just focus on fights, not ppt. Great advice. I can’t speak for all of SBI, but it seems to me that we have fun out there, no matter who we face, even when DB was stomping us.

Now, that we got a lot of guilds that transferred in, our coverage has gone up. I don’t know why they chose our server, but I am glad, because they brought some skilled WvW players with them, and it is fun to run with them.

I think Gold league would be a blast, even if we finished last. But, with the people on our server, I bet we would give some servers hell. We tend to stay close enough to the higher servers in terms of ppt, to make them drop a rank (I seriously don’t understand the math behind the rankings).

Anyways…see whoever we face in the leagues. It will be a blast (at least we can get some achievements, unlike the current WvW achievements).

I can defend anet for many things, but this was seriously unprofessional. in WvW, as long as you are fighting and killing people from the other servers, you are participating in the “game mode.”

Plus, the reality is, we paid for this game. We play the game how we want to. No one was botting, hacking, or cheating.

The dude was seriously out of line, and needs to work on his customer service skills.

Unless you want WvW to be capped at a very low number, don’t expect the servers to have the “same” number of people participating. If you want equal numbers, sPvP is for you.

The way the rankings are adjusted each week is based on how you perform, even when being out manned. I have seen servers get killed and move up in rankings.

I know being rolled isn’t fun, but what can really be done? With guilds transferring from server to server (and it isn’t free), what will really balance out servers.

I am sure that you all have ideas, and I am sure the development team has had the same ideas. It isn’t an easy thing to fix, unless you restrict the number of people participating, to an equal amount, which will kitten people off cause they can’t get into WvW to play it.

How is it fair, that a small college like Youngstown State plays Ohio State?

I’ll get it when I get it, is my philosophy. Sure, standing around with a pretty pink weapon on all my characters would be nice, but it isn’t mandatory for me to enjoy the game. Also, lower level alts do not obtain level 80 crafting mats for doing low level bosses. The loot is designed to scale with your characters original level, not the scaled down level. So, asking for ascended materials to drop for your low level alts breaks the loot distribution of the entire game.

I have no problems spending the time to acquire stuff in the game. For me it isn’t a race to get everything, it is about enjoying the game. If getting everything as fast as possible is how you enjoy the game, then you might want to see if there is another game for you, or if you can tolerate how the devs have designed their game.

I love this matchup system. People need to quit crying, seriously. Even in professional sports, you have a great team that has to play an average team, or even a terrible team.

Even when we (SBI) get matched up with higher tiered servers, we have been know to gain points (with how they are calculated) because we did a kitten good job against them, even though they won the weeks match. They don’t track wins and losses, they track performance.

I personally enjoy the varity of the matchups. We get spanked some, and then we also spank some. It is much more fun that when we kept facing Mag and CD every week, til Mag moved up a tier, and then it was SoS and CD nonstop til the new matchup system.
