Won’t happen. People want large scale battles, so reducing the map cap will only hinder that. Plus, people aren’t filling up maps on the lower servers during off hour coverage anyways, so a reduction in map cap is useless.
WvW players don’t care about pve. So unless your going to bring WvW into pve, keep Pve out of WvW. That is all.
Except, taking anything in WvW requires PvE.
I am starting to think that WvW players cry too much. Who cares about the toxics. Kill them or don’t.
I know they kill Dolyaks. I know they can kill sentries. I have seen them even attack a keep. Who cares. They aren’t legendary, and are as easy, if not easier, to kill than a sentry.
This is just a bunch of cry babies, crying again, because all they want to do is cry about anything anet does to WvW.
If I was anet, I wouldn’t even try to work on WvW with all the cry babies that post on the forum.

Aside from that, I wonder exactly how many people spend money to transfer. It takes maybe a week or 2 of solid farming to get enough gold to convert enough gems to transfer.
Everybody I know that’s hopped servers never spent any money, only exchanged gold.
Makes you wonder what those people who sold the gems for gold are using that gold for? Transfers are lending to increase in the exchange rate, so they are making bank in gold.
I have points in cannon mastery.. it’s great for collecting bags.
Hop on cannon.. watch your zerg track enemy down.. smash enemy zerg with cannon.. your zerg mops them up.. proceed to collect oodles of bags
I do agree though.. guards are useless.. I’d like to see them upgraded to legendary.. and I’d like to see about 5x as many outside each tower. That and let them revive and heal each other.. that should throw a wrench into the offense’s plans lol.
Yeah. Also have them scale depending on how many enemy players are in wvw. That way, at least PvD would be more exciting. Would be awesome if they could make something for servers who have a small off hour presence. Say, a group of npcs that will go out and attack towers in an attempt to take them back. Siegemaster isn’t that useful when no one is around.
I like some of the stuff that they showed in the Edge of the Mists. I hope they bring those tougher guards, and the elemental defense style hazards, into WvW.

Nope! T1 versus anything lower than T2 is a sucktastic match regardless. Crappy for T1 since they will steam roll the opposition and crappy for the enemy server since they will frequently log in with practically nothing on the map that is theirs.
The score is only an indicator of a poor matchup not the cause of it.
t1 vs t2 is pretty sucktastic as well. Ask SoR, they can even say that t1 vs t1 is sucktastic as well.

Why are so many people talking about defending and wxp? Am I the only person who doesn’t play WvW for wxp? Sure, I get wxp while playing, but it isn’t my goal.
Jerri, sm, Aldons, bay, and most eb keeps have ways for guard, thief or Mesmer to tele up to or leap into. Me and friends tested what works and not, if it worked we immediately left. These are simple fixes Anet has yet to fix.
Well, it isn’t as simple as you think it would be. They will have to change some code to fix it, which could break other code.
Hopefully they fix it sometime soon, or start placing bans on people who are taking advantage of these bugs.
As I said in another post, it is so people who just want to WvW can get the meta done for the living world. The meta does reward something that is useful in your home instance.
So, Toxics in WvW isn’t a bad thing for the month. Just deal with it, they will be gone soon enough.

I imagine that some long-time SBI folks like yourself might have been ready for Gold League, but all those guys who moved there when you were T5 were obviously not excited about the challenge or were simply not up for it.

FA will pass Mags quickly to get back into Tier 2. The question is how will FA and SoS matchup now, with both servers looking very different since their last meeting. Also, how will SBI’s alliance hold up when they get into the black pit of Tier 3 where every match is a curbstomp battle (either too easy or too hard).

Also our server didn’t implode, we lost two large guilds. If our server imploded we’d have lost a lot more than that. Just glad one of then went to a server that completely annihilates SBI. <3

I’d like to know that too. They have been hating on us for awhile, and even had a guild transfer to FA just so they could try to beat us for the league, just to get even for something that we have no idea that we did.

I’ll repeat for the 100th time. People do not play defense because it is boring. It is about siege placement and then using that siege. It gets old fast.
Similarly, it is also boring to attack a well defended structure. Most people just stand around while the range classes clear siege and the traited people use siege. It’s just not fun.
What is fun is actually fighting against people.

Most of the best battles that I take part in, are normally us defending, or us fighting something that is being defended.
Their are rewards for defending. BAGS, and more BAGS. But, I guess people who just like to PvD, because it is the path of least resistence, wouldn’t really understand that.
And, anyone who says they want good fights, but they don’t want to defend, is full of kitten. Defending leads to good fights, even when outmanned. It is more fun to defend when you are out manned.

Love it or hate it, Anet continues to make a killing in players and whole guilds transferring to escape queues or bandwagoning to already stacked servers due to leagues. Next to opening day sales, the announcement of leagues is probably their 2nd highest profit margin numbers in terms of quarterly financial gains.
Long as the former happens, Anet as a business has zero incentive to do anything and frankly I can’t blame them.
So, why did they start charging for transfers? Weren’t they free to begin with?
I believe it was because of the WvW community complaining, and now we are calling them greedy for doing what we wanted.
Voting would be cool, except their will be more losers than winners that way.
There will not be another season this calendar year. The matchmaking post-season will be back to the system before, with some possible tweaks, but it will be essentially the same system.

Love how everyone likes to ignore the fact that FA got transfers 2 days before the leagues start. No one is thinking of them imploding when they are getting stomped?
Maybe, the people who transfered to SBI won’t really care about getting stomped, since they were on servers that got stomped at times in the lower tiers. Most of the people on SBI have been stomped before, and done the stomping. We will be fine.
But, we have moved back over FA in the Glicko ratings, so maybe FA should quit chest bumping and start working on getting all those numbers they had for the first match up to come back for the final match up.

Good on you for voicing your frustration. As we know from reading many threads here this is a common problem in most if not all leagues. It’s not going to change anything though.
Sides need to learn & adapt to opponents play style; going to help a lot if servers wanting to try & win rounds. Facing a 60 man blob, form one too if you have player numbers. Downside? massive skill lag.
This game is becoming less about guild vs guild & more about zerg vs zerg or blob vs blob.
Well, I don’t know about some of that. When we (SBI) faced YB and IOJ last week, on reset night my guild was in IoJ BL, and we were running 1 blob. YB and IoJ were running smaller groups and having more success than us with 1 blob. We eventually spun a small group off of us, so we could be more effective.
This week, on reset, we were in BP BL, with another guild. We were running seperately, but would communicate and come together in 1 big blob when needed. BP and CD were running huge blobs in that BL, and we had to come together a lot in order to combat that.
I really think that running in guilds is better, and good communication and supporting each other is key. You don’t need a big blob, if you have good communication.
just leave FA and SBI and YB to fight each other for the next 4 weeks, everyone already knows what servers will pull ahead and we’re not even half way through the season. Its not like there is going to be a difference and it doesn’t need a reason to leave these stacked servers stomping everyone else.
So, what you are saying, is that in the NBA, since Miami is gonna win, the only teams that can play them all season are maybe Indiana, and a few other top teams?
Seriously, we know that FA and SBI are gonna be 1st / 2nd, etc. But, there are still battles for 3rd, 4th, 5th etc. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to finish last, and I would try hard not to.
In Bronze, DH should have lost their match with FC. But, they banded together, and took the lead over FC about 2 hours before reset, and was able to win by 2k.
Anyways, if you don’t like the leagues, that is fine. It isn’t any different than RNG match ups, and after the league that is what you will be doing again. For me, the 5/3/1 scoring is better than Glicko 2 (which is still being calculated, and you can see that on the leaderboards).
After leagues, it is just gonna be the same as before leagues. RNG match ups.
I really enjoy WvW and I really like it when there’s some epic battle for a tower, keep, or massive open field battle between two big groups of people.
But those are rare times.
And most times it’s just independent zergs running around and capping towers and keeps without even blinking an eye.
In short, it’s just too easy.
No one plays defense, because there are no rewards for it. So I’m willing to bet no one has put their points into cannon mastery or oil mastery. Likely arrow cart or ballista, but even the former gets nullified from ram mastery. So I’d hedge my bets that most people are focused offense – so you have superior blueprints now, with bonus to offensive points and guard killer and everything else, and towers and keeps fold like paper, even fully upgraded.
What’s the point in upgrading anything? Guards are completely useless. Won’t even slow down a zerg one second. Reinforced doors are completely useless – superior blueprints and ram mastery still melts them like nothing. Fortified walls, if you can get them when you’re not the dominating server in the matchup, are nice, but take forever to get to. Sure, you can dump seige everywhere for defense, but unless someone is there refreshing the timer (and not getting any rewards for doing so), it gets boring and old.
TL;DR – It’s too easy to flip camps, towers and keeps.
1.) Doors need to be looked at. Fortified doors maybe?
2.) Guards clearly have no point at all. Upgrade them further perhaps?
3.) I’d like to see some type of portable seige weapon that can be moved (albeit slowly) around the battlefield whose soul purpose is to destroy zergs. Some kind of asuran lightning cannon, that the closer people are together, the more damage they take and the more the lightning jumps from one person to the next. This weapon won’t do any damage to towers or keeps.
4.) Currently there is ZERO point to upgrading camps beyond possibly the increased supply delivery. I’m not sure what can be done here. More upgrades maybe?
5.) There has GOT to be SOME way to reward defenders more. And I understand the refresh timer on siege, but MAN is it annoying.
Who knows. Maybe I’m way out of left field and maybe one could make the argument that this would just help dominating servers dominate more, but does it matter at this point? It’s just too easy. Thoughts?

On SBI, we defend. We upgrade keeps, towers, etc.
We took BP’s garrison on friday night, and it took them almost 2 hours to finally get it back from us.
Maguuma defends, BP defends, FA defends, SBI defends. And I am not only talking about garrisons. All these servers even defends towers, and sometimes camps.
Just because defense doesn’t award much karma, doesn’t mean it doesn’t have rewards. The number 1 reward is fun. Defending normally leads to good fights. It also will lead to some nice bag drops. There are incentives for defending, but no one really pays attention to them.
Just saw this while I was merching some stuff. They didn’t do anything but I thought it was kind of funny.
Glad that BP is having some fun this match up. Would be awesome if they could just storm our citadel.

You get to free-cast on them for 5-10 seconds. If you can’t kill someone in that long, then there’s an issue in your playing, not with the ressing mechanic.

If you’re outnumbered they easily hold you off for 5-10s. What the ressing rubbish does is prevent a small coordinated force from chipping away at a larger less coordinated force.

Well, the living story content in WvW this time, allows you to still WvW all the time, and obtain the item for your home instance.
You can complete the meta in WvW, without having to go out in PvE to do it.

Waganbrand is now a T5 server, with the weakest coverage in NA prime…Remember last week match-up?
DB will lose everything during NA prime and get the whole EB back (total red) during midnight…Also, you’ll occasionally meet alot of selfish achievement grinder (usually new to WvW PvErs, and without any siege skills) who refuse to get off siege weapon because they want their achievement credit. I even see commander refuse to get off ram during NA prime.

… it already exist in the game. If you kill someone multiple times within a short period they instantly die (ie no downed state). Every time they die they come back with lower and lower HP.
It doesn’t matter if they die instantly when they can be revived instantly.
Well, seems like the issue isn’t the revive sickness, or lack of revive sickness. Seems, the problem is killing people, and killing the people raising the people. It happens to every server. Just kill all you can, and kill more.
We know they need to fix it, but it will not happen over night. At least that new map will have a shorter competition time, so when you give up on PPT, you can go and have fun and try to win in the Edge of the Mists.
Seems that this is the normal gripe in mmo games. If you aren’t a mesmer then you don’t like the runes, if you are a mesmer, then you like them.
Same thing goes with the thief and stealth.

Tonight, we (SBI) had BPs garrison for awhile. We kept defending, repairing, etc, the garrison for well over an hour until they finally took it back. Did we get some bags in the process? Yep. But, the more important thing is that we had fun (and we held that ppt, and kept BP busy for a while).
I think people need to get back to the fact that WvWvW is supposed to be about competition. About, your server competiting against other servers. It isn’t just about your greens and blues.
the past few match ups have been detrimental for crystal desert. we get put up against servers with massive populations which leaves our server feeling helpless leading to many people giving up all together. 15 minutes after the reset today, our entire borderlands was lost. we have no chance what so ever when up against large population servers.
all im asking for is for matchups to be based off of population rather than wins.
or even merge some servers, its just getting annoying getting stomped by huge servers who have 2 or 3 zergs in every zone
Hmm, 15 minutes after reset, I doubt it was completely lost. You guys sure did have a huge zerg on BP BL for a few hours after reset. You guys were keeping us on our toes in that BL.

Well, from watching it I think that the fights are gonna be better than the current maps. You have the players to contend with, as well as better npc enemies to fight. Not only that, but the physical effects from having multiple objectives near your keep.
Matches won’t be a week long, so it will be more competitive. You get all the other WvW benefits in this zone as well.
So, why in the hell would you want to fight in the regular WvW maps? I can understand people wanting to fight in EB, but why the BL? Not many people will care about ppt after reset, if they are losing, and then everyone will just want to flock to this new map for better fights, and more competition.
Seems this map will actually kill WvW, the way that we know it. Whether that is a good or bad thing is yet to be seen. But, the new stuff does look awesome, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Some people were wanting to let the other servers cap SM to farm and finish achievements… That doesn’t look right at all.
Doesn’t matter if it’s Friday, or if your server can’t lose by points or if you need achievements, this is just not how the game should be played… Right? :P

Ok, I read that, and I am from SBI. Grumpy and others are just saying that we should let the other servers flip SM so they can get their achievements too. It really isn’t our fault that IoJ had a lot of transfers before the season, that makes them bronze league strength. But, even with that, why should they not be allowed to get their achievements?
Plus, what about people on our server, shouldn’t we be able to take it back and get our achievements? I do believe we held the thing almost the entire week.
There is no problem doing that on friday, it benefits all servers. Why be a sore winner? The other servers know they lost, but why rub it in their face. Have fun on Friday, and help everyone out.

the only way off hours players (what ever that is differs per server) would only have a hard time gain points if there was no one to fight.
They would gain points, a small amount because they can’t kill as many people as prime time players can. So, in essence, off hour players wouldn’t contribute much.

No your looking at the idea wrong imo.. off hours players still get points just not as many.. why should you rake points like you do currently when there is no resistance across borderlands… sitting back and letting 2-3 players that might be on map retake something just so’s you can retake with your nightcap is by far the worst thought out idea in WvW.. I have no issues with players being online at anytime or earning for themselves and their server but when there is no resistance and a huge imbalance like what happens with Tankolation nightcap… then it makes the current WvW model completely useless.
UW EB is all but a sea of blue at present except for the AG coner that Tankolation wont go near.. they prefer the outmanned UW corner.. the flip it all then sit back and wait for the 3 or 4 on map to recap keep then steam roll it again… where is the fun in that throughout the off peak times . only thing I find more intriguing is how motivated Tankolation are to keep replaying the same thing for hours on end until finally some resistance comes online and the sink back into their towers to wait for the nightcap again….
Like I said you want it easy mode through the night that’s fine but don’t expect the same level of reward for golem rushing empty structures and open fields for hours.
I am not looking at it wrong. Right now, with PPT, there are roughly the same amount of points distributed each hour, no matter how many people are logged in. Sure, off hour people can contribute to the score in a very unbalanced manner at the moment, but in your proposal, prime time players would contribute to the score in the unbalanced manner.
Causing the off hour people to contribute only 10% or so of the final score, really makes their efforts useless. You need to find a solution that allows everyone to contribute equally, no matter what the other servers populations are that they are facing.
