5/8 red servers are not currently in 3rd place
6/8 red servers are in really close matches
(na bracket)
Well, seeing how I might see 2 to 5 SoR people a day in WvW, that whole server might be in EoTM.
The first week will be decided on reset night of the 28th. t1 plays itself, t2 plays itself, etc, all the way to t8. After that, the next match will be based on how many points you have (5 for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd). Til the tourney is over.
With the current Rng system matchups are getting stale and boring, with the previous system matchups were though exciting always blowouts and by the end of the week it was demoralizing. My suggestion is every 1 in every 3 weeks manually create the matches to what you think would be fun and interesting for everyone.
So here is my wishlist for servers to fight next week in a ranking of 5
1. Fort Aspenwood
2.Tarnished Coast
3. Stormbluff Isle
4. Maguuma
5. Yak’s BendKeep this reasonable as i’m sure Eredon Terrace could never fight Blackgate, and Anet lets not be over zealous and delete this thread aswell. Allow some freedom for a brother.
LOL you do not want to fight SBI? Why would you really want to fight us? You should replace us with DB in your list, especially since they have a good SEA presence.
Go wherever you think you will have the most fun, whether you are a loaner or as a guild. Just ask yourself if it’s worth 144 Gold or almost $30 if you are going to go to a server that’s FULL or does not want more transfers atm.
Yeah, and follow his earlier advice and come to t3. T3 is the most volatile right now. We have a stacked server in the 7th spot. SBI, which isn’t stacked, but has more people than some t4 severs. Soon, IoJ will be in t3, and they can compete with SBI, but neither of us will really be able to do anything with the 7th ranked server rolling over both of us.
So, coming to t3 would be great. You get fights, and some friendly people (who are dedicated to their servers) to play with.
Come over to SBI, we have a lot of PvX guilds. Abyss is one the I am in (even though I mainly do WvW). KT is another good guild, and Myth is a new one to our server. I am sure I am leaving out a bunch, but we are a friendly server so I know I will not be lynched for not naming all the guilds.
No no, don’t leave SBI. What are you thinking.
Sorry to hear that you want to leave Silver, I guess SBI isn’t in the running anymore. Maybe hit up Darkhaven then, and have some fun there.
Red has an advantage due to the fact that those servers are usually the ones getting rolled in the mist war, so they tend to enjoy the match in EoTM where they can atleast kill a few people.
Let’s be honest, most people hail ESO for what they want it to be, or for the hype surrounding it. Just as they did with GW2. At the end of the day, some people will love it, and others will be disillusioned with it as well. That is just how the MMO scene is.
ESO will do reasonably well, and we don’t know what their internal numbers are for considering it a success. It won’t be the “WoW Killer” that everyone thinks every mmo will be, but it should be a solid game.
Maguuma is in ppt try hard mode, FA can’t realistically beat that. The supreme irony will be if FA ppts just enough that DB comes up the following week, instead of next week.
I want DB up in T2 next week. If they want gold and play hard they’ll get it. If they are a fairweather ppt sink, then we will get FA back up here in time for the tournament to start.
DB doesn’t have the skill to compete in t2, and t2 servers will pick their NA apart.
I am still a little confused about this new tourny set up. So It looks like my server DB is probably gonna be ranked 6th going into the tourny. Does that mean we will face 2 other gold league servers who have much greater coverage then us the first week and lose. Then the second week we face 2 more gold league servers who lost the first week and lose again cus they still have much greater coverage then us and so on and so forth for 9 weeks. Or will at some point we will get to face a silver or bronze league server and get a win?
There are pros and cons for DB in trying for Gold.
Pros: With Tier 1 completely FULL; people looking to move up will be looking at Tier 2. Everyone knows that DB has a powerful SEA group that plays well into early EU. That makes DB NA an attractive move. If DB can prove to people that they are serious about WvW and not a fairweather PvD server; then they will grow and will be competitive in Tier 2.
If you need examples, look at Maguuma. They add KH (late NA/early OCX) during the first season, and have grown a lot since in coverage. They were attractive because they played hard. Likewise, whoever the #7 server is will have hardcore WvW guilds looking for a new home. The former #7 server will be an attractive choice.
Likewise SoS went from having a T4 NA to now being called a T1.5 server.
Compare to FA and SBI which both tanked down to Silver. SBI is a shell of it’s pre-season self and FA is bleeding guilds despite heroic efforts by it’s NA.Cons: The Season will be brutal. You will lose every match, you will lose every match by amounts so bad that they will have to change the scoring to a logarithmic value. Though there is a lot of potential for gains, there is no guarantee or promises that can be made.
Didn’t they add KH a few months ago?
Also, SBI tanked down for the first season? Don’t you remember we were battling Mag for the last spot in gold, and Mag put in overtime to be able to eek into that final spot. You should remember, cause SoR was even helping us in our match up with you, trying to get us into Gold.
Yes, we aren’t the same now, since your server and all the other servers above us (with probably the exception of BG) have received a lot of our members (and Mag even bought some).
And, if you think some of these members that transferred are going to stay around while losing, and the drama starts, think again. They are going to just move up again.
SoR dropped like a rock, so don’t think that TC, FA, MAG, SoS, or DB are safe from a mass exodus based on the season to come.
Looks like DB will stay silver, cause they will move up after this week, get spanked, and move back down.
SBI is the place to be for you. Just come on over and enjoy a good community as we battle for everything we can get each week, and we have fun doing it.
You are guaranteed to have some crazy fights on SBI, and season 2 expects to be pretty crazy in the silver league.
Dem Twerk Warriors son.
#reading.
They can twerk like Miley all they want here, Star
How ya been? How is FA going for you? Hopefully you are having a good time there.
SBI is great. We have a strong PvE farming community, and we have a dedicated core of WvW players, who are pretty competitive. We fight for everything we get.
We are a friendly bunch, and love to have fun. We have all the usual stuff like TS, website, etc.
Slingblade stated our WvW status perfectly. We don’t have the numbers to compete with the t1 / t2 (as well as the 7th ranked server), but we have the numbers to compete with everyone else. Silver league should be a lot of fun, even when we are matched up with DB or FA (whichever makes it to silver league).
Hope to see you on SBI, it is a wonderful home for PvX players.
They will just heard us all into EoTM, where competition is as meaningful as pre-season football.
I guess if they kill of WvW, then the can save some money on trying to develop and maintain it.
I’m not sure which servers your saying are “trying to tank” ? Ranking looks about what they have been looking like for the last couple months with the exception of Ebay whom I would say is suffering what many of us have already expierenced which is a mass exodus.
Nah, the rankings are different than what they have been the last couple of months. Ebay lost guilds, SBI, SoR, BP, etc, etc. The top has changed, with TC becoming a permanent staple now that they are Tarnished Coast of Rall, and SoS jumped up with some added transfers. Mag, who dropped, got transfers and bought a guild in order to make sure they stay in t2, and FA has recieved some love, but not as much as TC, SoS, and Mag. Then there is DB, who got some NA guilds and moved up to 7th due to YB and SBI losing guilds. Hell, even DB is trying to buy some of the remaining guilds on SBI, and FA is trying to recruit some of those guilds as well.
FA, SoS, Mag, and TC were all talking smack about band wagon servers before t1, and now they have become the newest band wagons. The sad reality is that a lot of the population has moved onto 7 servers, and unless Anet actually does something, the other 17 servers will continue to bleed people. When the people in the top 7 transfer, they usually go farther up, so the situation will only get worse.
On SBI, we lost almost all of our WvW guilds, and we still are in t3, around the same spot we were after season 1. If that isn’t an indication on how bad WvW has become in terms of population then I don’t know what is. Free transfers are not going to make a difference.
At this point if Ft Aspenwood makes it into Silver it won’t be worth the time in WvW.
Unless the RNG favors you, there isn’t a chance of you staying in gold. DB is going strong for that 6th place spot, and by beating us (SBI) and totally dominating a defeated server in SoR, they are getting massive overall points. If they overtake you this week, there is a good chance that they would lose that spot the next week and allow you to slide into gold, but if you hold on this week (looks like you might) and the match ups remain the same for the next week, then you are gonna be winning silver, yet again.
Shouldn’t this be in the recruitment thread?
CD has lost guilds but you know what? We are in the same exact position we were in months ago right at the start of season 1 even after losing over half a dozen guilds.
Yes, but if your competitors are also bleeding guilds to T1/T2 – and I’m fairly sure that applies to pretty much everyone south of Dragonbrand these days – then that’s not really saying much.
Both of you are wrong. The reason CD has stayed in the same position since Season 1 was because all 4 mass exoduses happened before it.
No, we lost 2 major guilds that were good people [KA] and [Tofu] post seasons. We lost a couple havoc groups that were kinda there sometimes and kinda not. that was post season for CD. The gap between t3 and t4 is huge, t4/t5 probably not as bad. These were home grown guilds which stung a bit.
The guilds we lost pre season weren’t really home grown, they came in taught us some new tricks and gave us an umph.
Losing 2 guilds several weeks apart is not an implosion. Losing multiple within 1-2 weeks is an implosion.
I doubt the gap between t3 and t4 is that big anymore. SoR isn’t even t9 at this point, and DB is t2.
We, on SBI, don’t really know what we are, but we were beating BP each match, but I don’t really count that cause we had big brother Maguuma stomping both of us.
Since BP lost LOST, we probably will do better than them, and I think our overnight presence will be what would decide the match with IoJ (we did lose OLAF to Mag, since they purcahsed OLAF from us).
So, we are eager to see how we actually compare to other servers, cause so far, we are outnumbered by Bandwagon server #5 and we outnumber Mass exodus server #1.
Bandwagoning kills communities, and I wonder how many guilds are gonna hop off of TC, SoS, DB, Mag, and FA during and after season 2 based on the pressures of winning, and the drama is causes (that is what broke SBI).
Sorry SoR, but you are in a really bad place right now. I respect everyone that has stayed with the server through all that has happened.
Free transfers are good for the low servers, I just hope people have learned their lesson about stacking and bandwagoning, it never ends well.
You mean like being rewarded with Edge of the Mists so that waiting in queues isn’t such an unpleasant problem?
What queues? Event t1 doesn’t queue all maps most the time.
SBI is the home for you. We have plenty of room for havok groups, especially ones that would love to go on the offensive. We are also very fortunate to have a great core of players that have stuck around through 2 mass exodus, as well as some guilds that are pretty stable.
We have a strong militia as well, and a good positive community. All in all, SBI would be a perfect home for you. 1st place in silver league has already been decided, it will be DB or FA (no server in silver can match their coverage), but the battle for 2nd is going to be a fun one.
Since we don’t have a bandwagon presence anymore, you will find that we will remain stable during the 2nd season, as well as after the season ends. Contact slingblade, yulo, myself, or loren michael if you have any questions.
check out SBI, we can use another person during those times. We have a nice group of players that play their heart out during that time.
I can tell you that SBI is in need of your services. We are going to be in the silver league for season 2 and it is gonna be a fun, but tough fight, for the 2nd and 3rd spots of the league (no one in silver has the numbers to compete with DB or FA).
You will not only find a home with some dedicated WvW members (the core has stuck around through 2 mass exodus’), but you will find that we are pretty respectful and like to have fun.
SBI is the place to be for you. Just come on over and enjoy a good community as we battle for everything we can get each week, and we have fun doing it.
You are guaranteed to have some crazy fights on SBI, and season 2 expects to be pretty crazy in the silver league.
Look forward to seeing you in t3. Sadly, it will just be a battle between you and us for 2nd, since neither of us is stacked enough to compete with DB or FA.
How about eliminating the BLS and just have 2 EBs. Not even t1 is filling up all 3 BLs now.
Server transfers wont help, it will hurt. There is no one left on SOR. How many people transferred and how many just quit playing the game? I would bet more quit playing than most would think. WvW participation is dropping across all servers. I see server after server we play against barley being able to put 50 people in eb and maybe another 20 across the rest of the maps. I watch camps flip on BLs and 30 minutes later they are still enemy controlled. WvW has turned into PVE and most of the PVPers are leaving. The PVEers only come out when there is a huge zerg and no fighting. Lose one fight and 60% of them are done for the day.
Every week WvW becomes a little more boring. Transfers wont change that. Changing the motives and thus the strats for WvW might. I am beginning to think it is too late.
Well, transfers are killing a lot of communities. On SBI, we got that huge influx of people last summer, and as they just left, they took with them a lot of people who had been here since launch. I wonder how many of these guilds that transfered to t1 and t2 will implode during the season as the losses start to mount.
Some of the people aren’t quitting WvW, they just moved over to EoTM, which helps empty out the maps as well.
I feel for you SoR, I hardly see anyone one from your server in WvW when I am in SBI, DB, or even SoR BL. I hope you guys get settled into a tier sometime soon.
Probably can, and that is probably the reason why regular WvW doesn’t have overflows.
Man, why does everyone bring up ESO. People will leave, people will realize that they have FPS drops too in battle, people will complain, the trolls will be out, the devs wont listen, blah blah blah.
It’s the same for every game. The grass isn’t always greener. Maybe ESO will be great, maybe it wont. Right now, it is something different, that is all. Plus, if they keep a sub fee, plenty of people who play GW2 will not end up playing ESO.
Hey, they are working on tearing apart more WvW communities right now, they don’t have time to worry about account wide xp
Honestly, there are 7 ultra stacked servers now, in WvW, and then you have SBI sitting right there at the 8th position. We did lose guilds (to those ultra stacked ones), but we are still here, still fighting, and still rolling.
No one in silver will be able to compete with either FA or DB for the number one spot, but, you could come help us lock down 2nd place.
Also, the match ups in silver and bronze are going to end up being the best. Should be more variety each week, so if you are on t1, looking to move, now is a great time to join one of the non stacked servers, and enjoy a good variety for the season.
How about just transferring to SBI now, and work on getting those 2nd or 3rd place rewards. No one in silver league will be able to compete with the ultra stacked server that will be rank 7 when the season starts. It will either be DB, FA, or Mag (probably FA) who will be 7th, and the winner of silver. The real battle is going to be for 2nd and 3rd.
Most of the silver league has light populations, with coverage disparity. SoR will probably finish last in the silver league, and it seems that IoJ and SBI might be the two going for 2nd and 3rd, that is, unless a lot of people transfer to the free servers in silver.
The catch is, will it be enough to move those servers to the front, and are you willing to stay with them when the season ends (since you will have to pay to leave them).
I suggest coming to FA. This will help balance out T2 with Mags and SoS. In my opinion T2 is the best place to be for balanced game play, minimal lag and action most of the time.
FA will actually get worse rewards during the season than GoM would. Unless FA tanks the next few weeks in order to rule silver league (they already have a history of doing that). Then, in that case, pay the 2400 gems (30 dollars, right?) to transfer.
Stay in GoM, best chance for rewards (if you don’t want to pay for your transfer). After the league is over, then transfer.
As I said in another post, reset is at 5pm PST and the devs would like to go home, and maybe (if lucky) have a good weekend.
Logged in to check and discovered siege missing after the patch. That is why YOU DO NOT DO A PATCH RIGHT AFTER RESET. These siege can easily be rebuilt on a non-reset night but they cannot be rebuilt easily on a friday reset since most towers and keeps do not have any supply.
Please anet employee/developer, the next time you push out a patch like this on reset night, think how it affects wvw. The pve population doesn’t even care if the fix is delayed for another day but you see WVW PLAYERS COMPLAINING EVERY TIME YOU DO AN UPDATE AFTER RESET.
Reset is around 5pm PST, and I think they actually would like to get it done so they could go home for the night (and maybe the weekend).
I like it when the lord is bannered and it makes the fight last longer and more epic.
Nothing wrong with bannering, you just need to try to make sure the warriors do not make it near the lord to banner him..
If they do take out bannering, I hope they balance it out by making the lords as tough as the lords in EoTM. Right now,t he lords are a joke and go down too quick (so who cares if they are bannered).
Who knows, maybe SoS might finish 3rd, and BG 4th? We shall see.
But, honestly, t3 can’t compete with any t2 server, so the 6th man gold works. no one in silver can come close to competiting with DB, since they recently got some transfers, and the rest of us lost players.
I don’t know about t6 through t8, but I am sure the 800 gems to t6 is going to kill bronze league, and make it about as competitve as silver. At least we can say, the battle for last will be good…
So basically server stacking/coverage will define what rewards you get….
Wonderful.
Honestly, just a few mediocre weeks from you guys, and you can shaft DB into the gold league…
Oh wait, didn’t you do that the last time? Well, you wont have any competition in silver this time around, unless their are mass transfers into t5.
Can’t wait to see which t4 servers are going to tank on purpose to get into t5 for thos free transfers. It really would be a smart move, so they could get some population back for when the leagues are done.
2400 gems for SBI and SoR , two servers that have just been gutted…
Some must suffer so that others may live. SBI had it coming after the first league though.
Really? What doesn’t FA and other servers that recieved transfer have it coming?
Hell, most of t3 and t4 seems to have transfered to t2 (and TC) in the past few months, do they have it coming too?
And, just think, BP is about to get hit with the transfer bug, just like the rest of us. It must be great to be in t5.
I dont even know why wvw people will want to go to TESO. They dont even have a fight mechanic that rewards team work. its is just that RPG everyone loves in an online world. That is the end of it. Even if people will move to TESO they will be back sooner or later. That is what I believe.
TESO is the new shiny. After people get tired of that (and a sub fee) they will jump over to Wildstar, or they will jump to FFXIV when they have 3 faction PvE near the end of the year.
Wagonbrand won’t work a 2nd time coz they only have 2 consistent sea guilds now. Back then they had 4-5.
But, they got a lot of transfers to their NA side, and that is why they moved back into t3 (and yaks lost people).
They don’t have the numbers of MAG, SOS, or FA, but they severely outnumber SBI and SoR.
T2 pretty much like that too.
Dude, t2 isn’t like t3. T2 has almost all the guilds and several pugs from T3 now. FA got some peeps from SBI, SoS got peeps from everywhere, it seems. MAG got peeps (and even bought peeps) from SBI. TC got peeps from SBI. JQ got peeps from SBI. I think BG is the only server that didn’t get anyone from us.
Somehow, after losing almost all our guilds, we are still hanging in t3, because the core of the server (the militia) is still here. I can only imagine how much SoR has lost, considering I almost never see anyone from SoR when I am running around this week. But, they seem to be out there figthing for whatever they can get.
SoR and SBI are just lucky that DB isn’t bigger, and that we can actually take our stuff back.
B
Mag is the official bluster server. They talk a lot of crap for the sake of talking a lot of crap, they’re good at it, they have fun but its harmless. Their guilds can definitely hold their own but theres been instances where they send people to other servers to get a look at their builds to perhaps take something from it. They are also the most fervent anti-blob server, though you can catch them blobbing every so often. They’re also extremely pompous.UR a pompom.
Mag is the zergiest server, we have 2-3 tags running, we PPT like its our next breath and we hate to fight in the open field.
Mag used to not be a zerg-blob server, but after they fell to 7th they changed. Now they PPT way more than fight for fights.
They outnumbered us during late night, and would send a ten golem attack on hills, bay, and garrison. They are now one of the true PPT heroes in this game.
They do talk a lot, but they do have some seriously talented guilds.
The player base is already merging servers. We seem to be transferring to JQ, SoS, TC, FA, and MAG. Maybe BG will get some love too. I don’t think Arena net really cares about merging servers, when we are doing it for them.
SoR might be far from dead, but they are gonna struggle so stay in t3, like SBI will. We lost a lot too.
Bottom line is it makes Anet more money. The worse the balance & matchups are, the more people spend that $25 to transfer. The more guilds transfer together, the more money Anet rakes in via large sums on a weekly basis. So you see why Anet has little to no incentive to fix anything or balance anything. These companies always do things by the status quo.
For Anet to realize they have to do something, people will have to stop playing the game and stop paying for transfers. Since that’s not likely to happen, and Anet knows that, Anet will take their time to resolve these issues. That or a competitive game comes out that will draw their playerbase away, such as say, if TESO turns out to be successful, then Anet may work harder to fix WvW issues. This is why competition is always a good thing, it’s the only time when companies get a reality check and understand they need to do more than status quo to please their customers.
For the past couple of years, Anet owns the game that caters to the “RvR” crowd. Now that TESO is going to be released soon, and it’s built by one of the guys that invented RvR in the first place, Anet might finally have some competition and will finally do a bit more for WvW. This is why GW2 players should cheer TESO on, because a successful TESO will push Anet to do more for WvW.
It’s not as if Anet doesn’t have any choices when it comes to WvW balance. Look at EOTM, by combining servers of higher tier with lower tier together in a cross-server instance, all of a sudden there’s more PvP activity, and there’s fun to be had for everybody, no transfers needed. A player on a server with little to no WvW participation can now have fun in cross-server instances. Anet could’ve made EOTM a part of the WvW matchups, but instead they’ve made it a side game, something that won’t affect the matchups other than some supplies drops. It’s what one would call a kitten attempt at helping players who are playing on 2/3 of the game’s servers that get bad matchups weekly and see little WvW participation.
But this isn’t always true.
SBI moved up to tier 2, and then imploded after our first match in tier 2. We were standing strong in tier 3 before that, but once SoS got an influx of NA guilds, then the bandwagoners hoped off of SoR, SBI, and other servers onto MAG, FA, TC, and SoS.
Honestly, the reality is, once the Karma training stops, and the competition ensues, people leave. Now they are faced with more competition. Makes no sense to me.
EBay was the first server to suffer this exodus of players, then SoR and SBI followed.
Pretty soon these people will hop off of the t2 servers and move up to t1, and I doubt they will find what they are looking for their, either.
I think you’ll still see many guilds transfer pre season, but the combination of EoTM and the Swiss matchup system will cause the players to make WvW matches more imbalanced.
Since you can now get your season achievement in EoTM, you’ll see more PvE players flock there and season 1 taught us all that unbalanced matchups get boring quickly. If the second weeks matchups are T1/T2/T3 winners, T1/T2/T3 second, and then T1/T2/T3 third, we all know who is going to win those matches and the T3 players will instead move en masse to EoTM, followed by the T2 players a couple days later. It could end up that there will be more players in EoTM Monday-Friday than in WvW for season 2.
Even though EoTM was created as a way for queued players to play WvW, it will end up being used by players looking for a more balanced matchup. If only there was an easy way to get your entire guild on the same EoTM instance.
t3 players have moved en mass to t2 and t1 servers already. I don’t think there are many more people that can actually transfer off SBI and SoR.
DB got an influx of NA guilds a month or two back, I don’t see them breaking up before the season.
WvW will be 1 person per server below the top 3 in 2-3 years…
