Y Transfer?
Well, Agg might want to transfer back to FA now that the season is over, maybe even a few more might want to.
I don’t know why WET transferred to YB, but they made that decision, and since the season is over, they should not have to sit in EoTM.
Also, why the hell are the prices still jacked up to. Seems a bit wrong that SBI is 2400 and HoD is 1000. IoJ is 1400, HoD 1000…go figure.
I want to know why Anet is so quiet about this. There has been posts about this for weeks now.
It was broken AND the season was too long.
Wasn’t broken at all. Silver league was pretty awesome.
Hope not without some restrictions. Last time that happened, ET and Darkhaven (both bronze league servers) lost massive portions of their population, and HoD (silver league, t5, considered the ideal place to be for many people) bandwagoned massively into t3 and maybe even t2. Not a great outcome imo, destroying some small servers to help some moderately sized servers is kittened.
HoD doesn’t field enough now to even compete with t2 servers. They are kinds of T3, by a small margin, but they will get crushed by t2.
Silver match ups weren’t any better. SBI got stuck with FA and HoD, while BP/IoJ/YB got to resume their stale match history (they played for 5 weeks straight, or something like that, before season 1…anet hates them).
Kome let CD, but their SEA coverage will dominate NSP and SF. But, their NA is non-existant, so you should be able to make up some ground in that time slot. Don’t be discouraged by the score right now, they did this last week. They jumped up on NSP on reset night, and then NSP dominated the rest of the week.
I’m hoping they will finally adapt transfer prices according to WvW position instead of total population now that everything PvE related works through the megaserver system.
They did that for the season, but it was a terrible version of it. They locked in servers based on their position at the start of the season. SBI stayed 2400, even though we dropped to 11th (from 8th). HoD stayed at 1000 (even though they went from 13th to 7th). SoR was 1400, even though they dropped to 18th (from 12th).
I don’t think their system is set up to dynamically adjust the prices.
I have to agree, Silver league was awesome this season, and I love how spots 2-5 were undecided til Thursday.
The answer is quite simple. They increased prices to stop the mass bandwagoning , that destroys wvw. Hopefully your at somewhat peace with whatever is making you think about transferring . Don’t foresee it going down. Too much money to be made off the bandwagoners who can’t get along outside tournament rewards
Some of the problems are, SBI was locked in at 2400, because we were 8th when the season started, but we are 11th now. HoD, is 1000, and they were 13th when the season started and 7th now.
This actually affects more than just a few servers.
Well, season 2 is almost over, and SBI came out to play every week. We finished strong, and our community has come together like it never has before. We don’t have tons of major guilds, but the guilds we have are team players, work together, and skilled.
We do have a large PUG community, that actually uses our public teamspeak. We have survived two exodus, and are very stable right now.
If you are looking for a positive environment to play in, where you can come out and have fun and participate in good fights, as well as a good community to play with, then consider SBI as a home for you.
We are here, waiting to offer a good home for anyone that needs one.
What we are not looking for, are players with drama baggage. Most of the drama left the server with the last exodus, and we sure don’t want that to come back.
Enjoy the fight out there, and I hope everyone finds the home they are looking for.
I loved this season. Hell, I’m in the NA Silver League and it has been a battle for 2-5. It has come down to the last week, and no one knows where they will end up because the battles are fierce. YB, SBI, FA, and IoJ have no idea where they will place because 2-5 depend on the outcome of 2 matches.
I was even impressed by BP, improving (maybe getting a transfer or two) during the season, when it looked like they were a lock for 8th. Now, CD is the lock for 8th, since they decided not to show up the last two weeks of the season. Hell, we even helped them beat IoJ one week cause we focused all our attention on IoJ, then CD’s NA tanks… very disappointing.
HoD’s bandwagon got their free rewards, but I feel for what will happen to their community due to that influx of transfers.
I did watch Gold League, and watched how JQ and TC went out of their way to crush BG. SoS was a lock for 4th, and could’ve snuck into 3rd, but the dominos didn’t fall that way.
Bronze was pretty competitive too.
I think this season was the best, and for me it was exciting. It was pretty long though, but I would rather have 9 weeks of competitive matches that differed every week (although a few weren’t that competitive), instead of the same stale match every week for a month or more.
Can’t wait til season 3 hits.
When we faced YB, we repelled 2 giant golem rushes, back to back on hills (10 golems, then 15 golems).
Golems do not automatically = success. I have no issues with golems, and they are a viable strategy. A good golem rush has to be planned and executed well. The cost in supply, gold, and the time to build them all, is a balancing factor as well.
Learn to defend.
What the hell is this post about?
SBI isn’t 100% full, lol.
The funny thing:
Players are now starting to delete characters from alt accounts so they can change servers and spy in EotM battles.
even deleting characters from alt accounts, you still have to wait in EoTM.
Everyone thinks it is so simple to create and balance a game. People have put forth ideas, in these forums, that some of the player base would like and others wouldn’t.
Anet built the game mode the way they wanted to, based off of what was already on the market. Even ESO based their pvp off of GW2 and DAoC, and it has the same scoring mechanic everyone complains about here (PPT). It has zergs, etc, etc.
Look, it would be nice to get something new, but it isn’t easy to mess with a competitive game mode like WvW. People are already fanatical about it, just think about the fact that the majority of people who play WvW, are not in these forums complaining, and generally enjoy the game mode. Why would Anet want to kitten off the non-vocal majority, for the few vocal minority?
I’m bumping this, and wondering if their is an Anet empoyee that can answer this question.
Transferring worlds during a tournament will prevent players from entering the Mist War for the duration of their current matchup and the following WvW matchup.
Players are still able to play in the Edge of the Mists during this period.Took all of 5 seconds to find, and it was in fact bulleted.
But, I asked a more detailed question than that, and it referred to the day before the season is over, as well as right when the season is over. I know they didn’t cover that in their article, and with how Reset happens at random times, I am not so sure that the EoTM lockout will end at, or shortly after reset.
will this see Australians move to the China server once the ques settle down? Closer time zone for them than America? What about Asiatic Russians? Vladivostok? And if they do switch for better primetime coverage… what kind of impact will that have on the servers that rely on these people for night coverage?
Will the China servers have other language servers like in Europe (English, German, French, Spanish)? So English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian? Or will the differences in writing be too problematic? It would be a good opportunity for Anet to expand the coverage rather than just China.
I think Korea will be the next country they launch in, and that would probably be the one that would pull some Australians away, since many Koreans can speak English.
Something should be done about waypoint contesting in keeps. For too long it has been ridiculously easy for a stealth or running class to tag a gate, run off and repeat every three minutes. Sometimes this goes on for hours and due to the power of stealth in some cases is almost unstoppable.
I am all for the keep showing swords as soon as something is damaged but the waypoint should remain open when a single player is strafing a gate.
The easy fix is to prevent the way point from contesting until a gate or wall falls below a certain threshold. I personally believe it should not contest until a wall or gate is breached and after that it should stay contested until all breaches are closed.
Shouldn’t be changed, it is a good form of strategy. It can create the fog of war effect.
If someone transfers the Thursday night before the season is over, will they still be locked out for the next week and stuck in EoTM? If people transfer after the first reset when seasons are over, will your system be updated so they are not locked in EoTM, or will they still be locked out?
When the season is over, will the transfer costs be 1800 gems for all servers, or are you going to keep the current rate in effect?
Seriously is awful how the population can vary from kitten T3… T3 cant fight T2 yet T2 cant fight T1 so they should only kitten only T2, and T3 only T3.
Swap tier if a server is no longer competitive.
Thats it!
PS: it REALLY frustrating having to fight higher tier. You cant do anything. ANYTHING. They just overwhelm you. Plus, if they are evil little kitten they spawn camp with their zerg… And it happens way more than it should.
Who cares, have fun, and try.
Watching YB beat FA, CD beat IoJ, and BP beat NSP last week, made the swiss style interesting.
Bronze isn’t bad as well.
Gold would be terrible, if it wasn’t for the 2v1 going on.
Just wanted to give them a shout out, because they have been fun to fight over the course of the season. Looking forward to seeing you guys again next week.
Well, let me tell you this, YB doesn’t have SBI’s coverage, but they have had better strategy than us so far this week and they are winning. So, coverage doesn’t mean jack, if they find a way to counter it.
Some of our people are really bored with the match up already, cause YB doesn’t come out of the tower or keep to fight. They got mad arrowcart skills though. kitten , I think there was 500 in our hills when we broke in there earlier.
YB is great at defense, and that really helps them out a lot. I do wonder how long they can keep it up after the season (we are glad you moved up to 9th, so you can face HoD and FA every week when the season ends :P ).
Anyways, population was built into the game mode. It is a week long battle, which takes all that into account. But, if you are good at map hopping, or if you have a good strategy, you can overcome some of the population imbalance (especially if you are close to having the same numbers).
You need to have a balance of PPT warriors, “all I care about is fights” warriors, adn defenders, if you want to really be successfull.
Oh, you used to be DI? I was wondering, because I didn’t remember seeing your tag the last time we faced each other.
Thieves are OP. can take 10 people 10 minutes to kill one.
I don’t have any class that can run into 10 people, and survive for 10 minutes.
Hell, the some thieves can kill those 10 people, before 10 minutes, because they can hit so hard.
I remember having multiple hour long queues on SBI during the first 4 months of the game. I’m sure the situation in China will be the same as NA. They have stacked servers, and non stacked ones as well.
You do realize, that most players are conservative when it comes to their games, and they hate drastic changes.
Sure, forum people are more liberal, and complain, and want changes, and some of them will complain about the changes, etc, etc. Some will love changes.
Anet will not make major changes often, because they know players will leave.
If you transferred before the match started, then you can join wvw when the new match begins today. If you transferred after the last match started, then you must wait until friday, and when that match starts.
Still better they left us (well the reason they did), but I hope you guys are enjoying yourselves on Mag. Has Olaf been on lately?
Miss my Abys peeps that went there, but I know they are enjoying themselves.
Was a great guild on SBI, so I would recommend them to people.
Your overall server ranking
I like playing for PPT. Well shall we say playing strategy. I wish Anet would make playing for strategy more miable by changing the scoring system to get rid of the coverage factor.
Well, this week, in our match, FA is doing well on strategy. They don’t have tons of numbers, and they are ticking 300-400 at times because of their strategy.
The overnight coverage kills them and us, but hey, that is what happens when you face someone who shouldn’t be in your tier.
I’m not too focused on PPT this week. My fun is coming from playing a game of “Hey, I’m gonna take your crap for the hell of it..” and “Not in my backyard.”
Tonight, I let HoD keep those south towers (they would gangk us if we came close to them), so I just focused on keeping bay, gari, and NE tower. WE kept all of them, and even put an end to HoD flipping the NW tower (wiped them twice).
That’s how I have fun. Just fooling around. In doing so, we have kept the PPT close.
Tonight, HoD and FA thought they would roll over our BL again, but we came out with a pretty good force, led by Juggs, that ended that. Was awesome. Kept both servers from ticking over 300.
PPT is fun to play for, especially when the servers are fairly equal. Next week, we have IoJ and CD, and the last one with IoJ and CD was fun. I’m looking forward to it.
just decrease the number of maps. Silver and below can barely queue 2 on a good day. NO need for BL maps. EBG seems to be most intense and easy to find fights. Just put 2 ebg maps maybe 3. deal less with getting ninjaed and more on actual fights.
in the first week, we queued 2-3 Bls each night (4 on reset). Pretty much the same at the beginning of our 2nd match, but once it became a K-train week, not as many people came out.
After that, we would be able to queue 2 Bls a night, with a potential 3rd, if we didn’t attack another BL. But, in our HoD / FA match ups, we aren’t coming out in force, instead saving up some energy for our IoJ / CD matches.
But yeah, I have noticed that IoJ and CD do not have the numbers we have. We were able to keep IoJ on their BL and EB at the end of the week during NA, and we still had people to defend our BL and assault CDs.
I can’t speak for FA, or HoD much, but I have noticed a decrease in the amount of people they have this match, as opposed to 2 weeks ago.
They designed the game for the SERVERS to compete, not the guilds. You work together with the guilds on your server (sounds like alliances to me), to beat guilds on other servers.
That is how the game is designed, and they are not going to change it. It would be very costly to change that, and they would not allocate large amounts of resources to a game mode only a minority of the player base is interested in.
not having the tiers would be good for the servers, because it would balance out the rankings better after all the season transfers are accounted for. Plus, this way, most servers wont be locked into matches they will always get blown out in (like DB, and SoR).
Come on SBI…represent your commanders.
But every rpg out there has ways to remove DoT spells before they tick all the way down.
Most people think Condi damage is already insane.
Playing outnumbered do not means tyo loose….. thats the challange!
I always wanted to see the miracle when 10 man zerg can successfully defend the only tower they just flipped on the whole map against two 50 man zergs who are just too lazy to fight each other.
Called, 10 men on a ton of superior siege.
Well, coming in 2nd in 2 matches is worth 6 points. Coming in 1st and 3rd is worth 6 points. Now, the server coming in 2nd each time, should be able to have the higher world rating, and that is the tie breaker. FA will finish 2nd everytime, and YB should have the same number of points as FA when the season ends. But, FA will still be ranked higher in the Glicko rankings, and will get 2nd.
Why I dislike WvW seasons:
1. Too long
WvW seasons are too long. Playing the same servers repetitively is boring. After the first 2 weeks, we pretty much know the server ranking. Heck, you can pretty much predict the ranking http://mos.millenium.org/na/ before the seasons even started.
As opposed to in between seasons where everyone complained about stale matchups, and facing the same servers every single week?
People these days, they have such short memories.
there is overlap between paying for upgrades and PPT. You kiss off PPT, you pizz off upgraders. That needs to be taken into account. No walls doors or siege if nobody pays for or maintains it.
WTF? If you hold a keep, or tower for long periods of time, you are increasing your PPT. Also, zergs tend to try to go for non-upgraded stuff over upgraded. Once those are taken, they will beat their head against the upgraded keep.
Man, upgrades and PPT got hand in hand.
its the community im talking about its like a bunch of zombies running after a commander no one talking on map chat the guilds are the community and there dieing off
I’m seeing this on my own server in both pve and wvw, the community is drawing into guilds which isn’t the most positive thing I’ve seen happen to the game.
In wvw, Map and team chat don’t get much talk despite there being people on map. And our guilds are preferring to run tagless operations in enemy borderlands so they don’t attract zerg hangers.
I suggest if you aren’t already getting on server teamspeak if you have it, so you aren’t left completely out of the loop.
SBI had the problem of people running tagless cause they didn’t want pugs, and then most of those guilds transferred off
Now, some guilds wont tag, because there is a tag already on the map, but those non-tagged guilds still communicate with the tags, and assist when the tag needs help, or something else on the map needs help.
Running without a tag, to avoid pugs, is a problem in WvW. Everyone was a pug once. You aren’t really a better person than they are, and you were just a green and a rallybot when you started playing WvW. So, these people should tag, and teach the pugs how to get better. If they aren’t on TS, or Mumble, or whatever you use, oh well, type crap in map chat. Be patient. Help them have fun and get better. That is how WvW will get better.
I have been on nearly every server in EU and seen how it developed, this is my opinion but ANET just dont get it players are so serious in WvW and competitive that is great but the game is not build around.
The server doesn’t mean anything is all about coverage people play wvw to fight not siege and cap and farm champions, it based around GvGs.
And as for map chat all i see on all servers is “Join Teamspeak” and dont get me started on the personality of people on team speak.
WHAT? The majority of my server isn’t GvGing, and I bet a lot of people aren’t in guilds that GvG.
Now, I’m not going to blast Anet for their WvW development. A lot more stuff needs to be taken into account for WvW than PvE. One of the biggest is balance issues, and not upsetting the people who actually play WvW, like it, and not post on these forums (which is the majority of them).
Sure, we have a lot of people who post on here, but why should Anet cater to us? We seem to never be satisfied. Also, they won’t cater to T1, because they are never satisfied.
Everytime they give us something, we complain about it. If I was a dev, I wouldn’t want to change anything, if it was just gonna still be the same status quo.
Coverage issues probably wont be touched, mainly because they will tick off a large portion of players no matter what they chose to do. Only thing I can see them doing is merging the lower tiers into the higher tiers, or offering more free transfers allowing us to merge ourselves some more.
It would be nice if they would make some new maps. Maybe use EoTM as the new EB, and have the green side be a desert map, the red be a jungle map, and the blue be a winter map. Spice things up a bit. But, I don’t think they have the resources to be able to do that.
Some better functionality for commanders would be nice. A new feature to be able to rally PvX players into WvW in cases of emergency, something along those lines. That wouldn’t be hard to implement or code.
The team is probably a bunch of designers, that might actually get an artist or a coder to work along with them, once in a blue moon.
Anyways, Anet has to cater to the PvE crowd, because that is by far, the majority of the player base. We are the minority, but they still are doing stuff for us.
I will just continue to play WvW, and enjoy what they give me (except EoTM, because it is pointless with no real reason to compete).
Quit being so kitten them, because all of us would be having difficulties with working on WvW. Offering them suggestions, but don’t be rude about it. Don’t demoralize them, like the fairweathers when you wipe them at a T3 keep late at night and take that keep.
aren’t conditions already a DoT? And aren’t immobilize, chill, etc, conditions also?
Is your class a condi class?
The other thing that would be cool to have, is a “call to arms” option for commanders to alert their server that they need assistance in a particular borderland or EB. To prevent abuse of such an option, it could be a generic message like “Defensive Call to Arms in Home Borderland” etc. It would also be really useful to have so we didn’t have to send messengers hoping around to each borderland to send word— we would be given the ability to coordinate our server to where we needed them, when we needed them.
Love this idea, but I could see it getting abused. Maybe have a long cooldown on the feature or something.
its the community im talking about its like a bunch of zombies running after a commander no one talking on map chat the guilds are the community and there dieing off, and nothing is being done to stop it, thus game is going into free fall.
Probbly gonna be the first free to play free to play game out there
No idea what that last sentence means, but the rest of what you said has existed since launch.
(2 rounds for 9 would be enough.)
This sounds ridiculous, put it’s pretty much true!
In Silver League (NA) we’ve reached “equilibrium” by week 3/4 already: every future matchup alternates between being the same as week 3’s and week 4’s.
YB has only had 2 sets of matches, and unless something drastically changes, that’s all we’ll have for the entire 9 weeks (HoD/FA and us, and IoJ/NSP and us) Sadly, the team we’re technically ranked closest too, is one we’ll never face (SBI)
I MUCH preferred the way the first tournament was run. All this is doing (at least in our bracket) is breeding fair weather WvW. If it’s the first matchup – people just don’t show (queues on all maps are gone within 2 hours on Friday night) whereas for the second – well we’ve had off and on queues for different maps all weekend
Kind of the same for us on SBI. The reality is, we have motivation to win when we face IoJ/CD, but when we face HoD/FA there is no incentive to win at this point, because our only prize would be to face them again. Same for YB.
We are not looking for blobs, we need guilds that can field a decent size, and are not looking to stack our server, we just want to stabilize and have a consistent force. Guilds that can field around 20-25 are perfect.
I’m on SBI, and we don’t have that many guilds that can field 20-25. Most of our force is consistent of small guilds that can do 5-10, and pugs. We do have some larger guilds, like KWBH, and our 20-25 are mainly guilds like DETH, and DDLG. Myth can field a decent amount and so can Abyss when they rally.
but, 10-20 is more of a typical amount, but again, most of our numbers are pugs and militia. People who are part ov PvE or PvX guilds, who like to WvW a lot.
Also, guilds are mainly transferring up (even t3 lost most their guilds to t2 a few months ago).
Good luck on your search, I hope you guys are able to rebuild and stabilize.
There are still thousands of players that play WvW. Sure, 51 servers might be too many for the population, but all games lose players over time.
WvW is still healthy, and you have the blob server up in the top, and a mix of blobs and havok / roamers in the middle. I don’t know what the bottom is like, so I can’t speak for them.
