I didn’t really like the fact how transparent it was even tho that was the whole idea. Giving it a bit more of essence (see what I did thar?) is a good thing.
I’m happy that it is no longer invisible behind your back. I just wish that they kept the particle effects while also fixing that invisible sword thing.

Hmm… I think I like it that way.
Gives a distinct separation between in-combat and out-of-combat.
I think the ghostly aura effect is rather hazy, and don’t want that stuff floating around my character’s head anyway.
But but…
I posted a few weeks ago about the bug where the greatsword “Foefire’s Essence” was invisible while sheathed and overlapped against the character model.
After the 26th Feb update they fixed that problem, but they completely removed the ghostly fire effect while the weapon is sheathed. It looks much worse now…was this intended? Can we have it changed so we keep the particle effects while the weapon is sheathed? (I’m going to assume this happened with the other ones too) I wouldn’t have bought it if this was how it was before. It just looks like a baby blue toy. Can some anet employee enlighten me on this change?

EDIT: Looks like some of those pink mist weapons also have the same change. No particle effects/trail while the weapon is sheathed.

combo hit and you get 12 stacks of 4 second each.you end up with a LOT of retaliation time, which is OP.
with a 5 stack limit, the amount of time the boon can be up is effectively capped. if you have 5 stacks of short durations it wont last as long as if you have 5 stacks of longer durations.

My biggest concern is whether or not they will nerf selfless daring in someway. (our heal on dodge)
Guess I’ll answer my own question. Did some searching and found this thread where Colin Johanson responds stating that legendary weapons will be boosted to ascended stats when the weapons are released.
“Legendary weapons won’t be updated to ascended stats until ascended weapons are added to the game in the far future.”
I guess the common misconception is that it is stated somewhere that ascended equipment will fall between legendary and exotic tier rarity and NOT stat amount.
It has been outright stated that Legendaries will always be a step above the highest current tier for that item.
Do you have a source for this?

Will legendary equipment and ascended share the same effectiveness in terms of stats? I read “Ascended gear – which outdoes Exotic items stat-wise and is roughly on-par with Legendaries” somewhere online which implies legendary equipment will have higher stats than ascended.

Problem: The greastsword Foefire’s Essence seems to become completely transparent when overlapped against a character model, which can be seen while the weapon is sheathed with the camera angle behind the character as seen in one of the screenshots below. The graphical glitch is not present on the Hero Panel or the preview screen.

To the two FA Guardians of [Corp] who have been grabbing the DBBL supply camps (and my yaks!) for the past hour or so; excellent fighting skills!
Especially the one that I and three other people chased all the way from Godsword to south of Bluelake! I’m sorry we couldn’t kill you (I was set up for yak-escorting, not PvP, and you obviously built for defense), but my goodness was that a lot of fun!
(I’m the one who you kept killing at the camps, and who laughed and saluted when our group finally gave up the chase.)

Likely because Arena.net don’t want to show off how useless it is.
It would likely look something like:
You now have 0.0001% more chance of getting a rare/uni dye/item in demand
Or it would show the amount of magic find % you have. i.e 20%
Why have these not been added yet? It would seem almost every stat combination available except for clerics. As someone running a highly supportive guardian build centered around healing power, this has frustrated me.

Fort Aspenwood just gave me bad memories. My guild was Luxon: the side that was biased against in every from of faction vs faction format (only Luxon turtle and not Kurzick Juggernaut would bug in Jade Quarry, capture points were closer to Kurzick spawn in the supposedly neutral AB map). Fort Aspenwood was horribly balanced for a PvP mode. Luxons had to have a perfect team comp to win (they would still have diffuclty) and Kurzicks could win with just about anything (including the nigh unbeatable all healers).
Yeah, no offense, but because of the name, I will never go to Fort Aspenwood.
Haha, I would just run a bonding monk in FA as kurzicks and lol at all the people that couldn’t break through my invulnerable gates. None of the luxons ever learned to bring enchantment rips for some reason.
That’s a fairly old tactic. They gave the turtles an enchant rip on their siege so bonding became pretty useless unless you managed to maintain a bunch of cover enchants.
I agree. These are working how (mostly PvP) GW1 titles worked. Look at Rank 12 Hero and gladiator (and I don’t believe anyone achieved max gladiator since they removed Team Arenas). They’re meant to be very prestigious and difficult to achieve. I don’t know about you but I like it that way.
But there were earlier ranks that you could achieve and display before that. Right now there is nothing before you get 250k kills in WvW and all the WvW titles are like that. The game is 5 months old and not one person that I know of has anything to show that they’ve been in WvW at all title wise.
I’m hoping it’s one of the progression changes that is coming next month.

People on CD that are complaining about being brought down to +0 potential and about imbalance need to remember the last 3 weeks where CD were winning by over 100k points (which is a far larger gap than what we’re winning by currently).
Also last week CD wiped FA down to +5 potential. You’ve been losing for 1 week. FA was the losing server for 10 weeks and were constantly picked on. We lost our keep every day. It’s not for revenge, It’s fair play.

Unless we have 35+ in there now, then we are nowhere close to FA. Funny thing is they had 10 just past the well waiting for people, aside from the big group by the arena/top end, and the begining area.
You probably had close to 30 in there a little while ago when I tried to go through. :P
Enough people in the JP that they could have easily provided a /lot/ of support to your server, haha.FA was actually being quite cooperative, I partied a couple of them and had a nice chat, dueled one of them, hung around.
And don’t mistake my post as being offended, JP camping is part of wvw and I kind of enjoy the challenge when it happens, as well as the fun of camping it myself from time to time
Fancy seeing you on the forums. I was the guy you dueled (the guardian). I can vouch there must have been over 30 CD camping the top ganking anyone who came up and only around 10 FA and very few DB.
I don’t really see the problem. You don’t have to talk to an invader if you don’t want to because you can just decline the invite. The problem before was that receiving a message from someone was involuntary and that’s probably why anet changed the report feature displaying their account name.
I don’t know if having the ability to invite opponents in WvW is intended or not but it’s not hurting anybody and personally I like talking to people across servers from time to time.

I have to agree the vast majority of players are thieves.
I’m not sure alot of people on other servers realize that if you don’t have the outmanned buff…you aren’t outmanned. And I’m sorry, but fighting valiantly to defend blue briar then giving up and logging out just after losing Bay in frustration isn’t our fault. If only 15 of you are in bay defending than I have 2 questions for you.
1) Where is everyone else on your borderland and 2) why aren’t all the groups you have in every other borderland helping you?Everyone knows that TC, at this stage in the matchup, has more people, but pretending that we somehow double and triple your numbers on your own borderland is just stupidity. The mechanics simply don’t allow it. Either its even, near even, or outmanned and the second it is outmanned we win pretty quickly and leave.
By my own experience, FA is the only server in 6 weeks of matchups that actually loses people as you get closer to their Garrison. Most servers start stacking up to defend but you guys generally pick up the outmanned buff before we even get to the gate.
Your most organized guilds, and by this I mean GODS, ULTD, PRO, BT, seem to just prefer to fight on other borderlands, whereas our most organized guilds defend home first, then everywhere else second. This is exactly what turned the tide for us in the first matchup when things we’re pretty equal, and its the thing that everyone who jumps onto the TC ship notices the second they get here.
So yes, we outnumber you. Yes, we outpresence you. We would win against you at this point even if you changed your mind sets. But not once in all the matchups week after week have you guys ever blamed yourselves. Maybe everyone that actually gives a crap already left?
To everybody above giving TC the benefit of the doubt, just read this post. “We outnumber you, but we still play better than you and will win anyway”
I see no reason to assume TC is less skilled than CD/FA.
Assuming they are equally skilled, yes, they are winning because they have more people. That’s pretty much the only reason anyone wins the lower brackets.
When FA rolled people in tier 4, it was because we had more people, not because we were more skilled.
TC is rolling people in tier 3, not because they are more skilled, but because they have more people.
The skill is much of a muchness across all these servers. Everyone has good commanders who coordinate and react quickly and help train newbies, execute sound tactical battle plans while sticking to a good larger strategic goal, etc. This game just isn’t that hard.
Saying TC is winning only because of their population is not the same thing as saying they would be losing if the populations were equal.
All else being equal, the largest population server wins. TC has by far the biggest population for tier 3, and as a result of that, is winning.
If they had the same population as CD/FA it would no doubt be a good tough fight. The only reason TC is winning so handily is because it has more people: that’s not the same thing as saying if it had equal #’s of people it would be losing.
TC have shown themselves to be capable opponents and despite the strengths of FA/CD servers, I imagine they could hold their own on an equal numbers footing. I don’t think they’d just roll over and die.
I’m not saying TC is less skilled than FA or CD at all. Don’t get me wrong. What you’re saying is exactly right and I would love a good fight on equal footing. I just wish TC would stop attributing their score to skill alone when it simply makes them seem foolish and arrogant.
The reason TC is better than FA or CD is not simply down to numbers. In our Oceanic we are able to consistently make sure that we do not lose more than one keep whilst being outmanned on both sides of the map. We make CD work really hard to take Bay as well (Most of the time) and CD can vouch for our SunnyHill defense. The same issue occurs during FA or CD’s off-peak hours and they are unable to hold any of the keeps (maybe except garrison sometimes in CDBL).
Why is this? Because we share knowledge consistently between our pugs and guilds.
- Lots of regular WvWvWers and established commanders give Siege placement lessons in BL and EB to the pugs.
- We map out portal-ing waypoints, smart portaling tactics onto JPGS and give to all known mesmers for our golems and for our flanks.
- We know how to keep our thieves scouting smartly and contesting waypoints smartly.
- We have in-depth defense guides on each tower and keep written up and shared between the common guilds.
- We consistently urge people to not run solo and always party up as soon as they join BL, so in case we need a team to keep north supply camps flipped (during defense), or we need a team to flank into vale and destroy their trebs, or we need a balista team to flank and take out their siege -> we dont have to ask people to party up and do it.
- We don’t do silly guild claiming of keeps and key towers and we make sure the guilds that claim it can activate multiple buffs around the clock.
- We understand micro-strategy MUCH better than you guys. In defense mode we don’t panic, we know how to use the repel timer to portal bomb you guys (timed well to respawn), we understand how to counter Golem rushes (Mortars and Balistas) and focus on that than our gate defense, we understand how to consistently adapt to superior number and superior siege during our oceanic time (look at Sunnyhill).
- Most commanders know each other and regular WvWvW veterans so information is consistently passed and our response jumping from BL to BL is extremely quick. We will abandon Inner SM Siege if it means keeping out borderland green.And I think the biggest difference between FA and TC is that we understand prioritization of targets on defense and offense better than you guys. I don’t know how many times I see your commanders consistently moving from Lake to Briar or Briar to Lake and it makes me lol knowing you just made our defense easier.
There are many many other reasons that can be listed but these should be enough.
Assuming all that is consistent and true, FA uses the same methods, and having played on Desolation in EU, and 2 other US servers I can say that almost all servers employ the same practices. On FA there are really only about 3 guilds of note in WVW, on a good night we can fill a Borderland and a half, I have seen TC with far greater representation than that. It’s nice to utilize those tactics, but it’s irrelevant at the same time as you will see when you hit t2 and realize you lack sufficient night coverage, as we have experienced so often against TC on FA.
Last week I recall a bay siege at around 12AM MST, where all of FA could only muster about 15 defenders and a wall of 50+ TC head-banged the keep to death. It’s telling how often your large groups don’t even bother with offensive siege, this is a sign of grossly superior numbers, and all things being equal with strategy, grossly superior numbers will always win in this game.
This is completely true. Many many of the servers share the same tactics. He’s speaking through unbelievable arrogance as though those tactics are unique to TC alone. I don’t want to start a flame war but come on, TC. You have to realize you have a tremendous advantage. Do you think FA just runs around like headless chickens not communicating or prioritizing defense? You’re being ignorant.
You don’t need to respond to me preaching about how what I’m saying must be convenient for FA with how the scores turn out, I don’t need to hear it. I’ve seen the same thing posted several times already. You seem really proud of your score, but until you hit t2 with a similar score you have no leg in this.

Guardian is amazing at everything (biased opinion). I love my Guardian. I can solo 10-15 mobs at once in Orr with ease and I rarely lose 1v1 fights in wvw and sometimes 1v2’s and call stall enemies for a long time. People tend to avoid a competent Guardian because they’re such a nuisance to kill. Leveling up is a bit dull but it starts to pick at around 30-40. Keep going at it.
EDIT: One thing Guardian is not amazing at is usually running away. Not like we need to a lot =p

Here’s mine. Health doesn’t matter much as long as you’re on your toes when a thief is on you.
