Hey all!

We may not have time to respond to all of your threads because we’re so busy, but we are watching! Thank you for all of your ideas, concerns, critiques and suggestions.

Very soon, I’ll be posting blogs about the things we plan to do, so watch for those. You know our policy – we try not to make empty promises, and we try to tell you about things only when we feel they’re ready to be talked about.

So in the upcoming blogs I’ll be updating you guys on things coming out soon.

Im looking fowarad to this. We have allready prepared our Community tournaments and it was a hudge disapointing that Custom tournaments are currently not supported in game.
There is a lot of people (and also our sponzors and partners) who are waiting to start the E-sport scene !

Please Chaplan, let us know as soon as possible.

For those teams that are looking for challenges, my team (from guild Win) is always looking to fight the better guilds out there. Send me a tell in game if you wan to queue together so that we are in the same tournament bracket and we can scrim. My in game name is Barkams Wife. Our tourney schedule is 7-10pm PST Tue-Thur and Sunday.

I look forward to our matches.

Thats a great activity but it wont help and its not 100% sure you get in same tournaments. Could be many open tournaments at same time.

Am I the only one who thinks Quickness needs to be removed?

Quickness is the root cause of all gimicky specs.
Currently you can use
- sigil with % chance to proc
- Trait for some classes giving you quickness
- some utility skills

As far as im in sPvP i would remove it at all. It makes the game so easy so focused on “quick burst dmg”. All the gimicky specs like HB warrior and PW thief is build arround it.
and thread which has over 100 posts in one day is telling me – thats lot of people agree

Well, then im in a bit trouble as i like sPvP and WvW. This combination is probably not the best to chose

I’m in the same boat.

I don’t play PvE at all, so I’m at a pretty large disadvantage going into WvW at a low level.

yeah.. even with boolster system, we do not have “best” possible gear and skill unlocks. Thats our disadvantage for same time spend in game but in different format.

Don’t worry guys they are working on it!

I hope so, but i would like to know when? the game is out. It was supposed to be “ready” and therefore should have promissed competitive PvP. I do not have that one.

So please, just tell us WHEN and whats the time line of this implementation.

Is there gear progression? Seems like there is.

Okay but the thing is, the default PvP scepter deals 998-1098 damage or the sort, while the one I got from ranking up to rank 2 deals 1098-1,198. It’s blatantly better.

So is there progression or not?

if thats true, then i suppose you go doublecheck and report as this will be bug.

matchmaking / rank is important so the good players are fighting good players and dont get bored soon.

To be honest i pretty much like how Starcraft 2 is splited in leagues and players are working on their game in order to be promoted to higher leagues !

Any spamable skill is not good for good PvP! thats the rule i believe.
Its even worst if its bring you easy victory.

So first 14 days is over. I have spend some time in PvP and mainly in sPvP. Hot-join and also tournaments (lets say 50/50). I like the combat in general. I believe there is still a balance needed and mainly for skills in downed mode as some classes are supperior in downed mode and some like Ele for example who can´t defense himself in downed in any way.

But back to the topic. I would like to ask you guys who are sPvP focused. Do you feel you are fighting players in PvP or AI? Let me explain.

I can see so many builds using different kind of pets / illusions / clones / spirits / elementals / minions / turrets / spirit weapons. All this is creating such a mess in PvP and giving so many advantages.

Lets count it

Mesmers: definitelly one of the most classes that can create illusions. Well its their mechaninc so in this case im fine with the clones / illusions. They are annoying but since i play mesmer too i allready know how to recognize skill animations that creates clones. If you are having hard time to defeat mesmer i would recomand you play one for a week. Then you will have very good knowelage about their illusions.
Thiefs: they have their TG elite. In my opinion a bit OP but mainly creating 2 additional thieves for short time (well for 30 sec).
Rangers: they do have pets and on top of that they can run with spirits. Why the hell they can trait spirits to be movable? I can agree with Pet (btw most annoying when pet is following you arround whole map while ranger is allready far far away).
Elementalist: they have their spirits ? or elementals following them? seriously ? Another example of not really needed pet.
Necro: with his minion army. But in this case it is his mechanic so probably its has to be like this.
Guardians: with spiritual weapons.
Engineers: with turrets and their elite – what a mess in a team fight. Lets say turrets are fine but there should be a limit and that elite maybe too many turrets at once?

And on top of this is the OGRE armor which is now very popular. One additional free pet spawn for every class and “for free”.

Speaking about these im not saying i want a nerf. Im just saying that there is too many AI controlled minions / pets and sometimes you see an army while you fighting only 1or 2 guys.

So guys.. do you feel this is right? or dont you feel there shoud be much more less AI controlled pets / minions than in current meta is.

My opinion is that there should be only Ranger pet, mesmer illusions and necro minions. Anything else should be replaced by different skills and these tree classes should be balanced (if i kill the necro guy.. his minions should die as well same with mesmer clones etc.)

I really agree, this needs to be done. I’m currently in a organized team and we face nearly no challenge at all. Even if you could only do one thing at a time, start with private tournaments and then move on to ELO/Rating system as a TEAM not a SOLO rating that would ruin the game.

Get Stopmed I know you guys, have meet you 2 days in row always very close results and nice fights. In current state one of only matches worth to mention.

Lets hope we get at least some estimation dates when the system will be implemented. Lot of good teams is now disapointed as they are not getting challege of their level of play.

Yes we need this, but we don’t need a rushed version of it tho – A broken rating system can have worse consequences than no rating system tbh.

Thats for sure. But.. at this point game is relased and therefore “is ready” and we do not have some of promisses here. Starting with sPvP competitive scene and ending with smartphone applications and webportal auction hause.

Sorry if made already.
But this game needs Arena PVP. 2v2, and 5v5 pvp with ranked and gear just like WOW. Yes like wow. Why? Because its the most intense pvp that really test your skill when you get a good match. PVP so far just isn’t rewarding imo and seems tacked on.

GIVE US ARENAS.

Whats the difference? 5v5 is there but its not called ARENA. What is missing is the option with CUSTOM TOURNAMENTS and LADDER. Thats it.

There is a lot of people out there looking for challenge which we are not getting in “random” tournaments.

sorry but its true. ladder system is needed so ve can progress and be challenged at our rank.
and it is needed fast. Now the major issues with connections / rewards / auction house seems to be sorted. Its time to move for next step.

In sPvP you gain Rank.
In WvW you gain Xp.

If you want to level your character doing pvp, WvW achieves that for you. In sPvP you are already auto-levelled to 80 and have everything unlocked to level the playing field. It’s a separate world from pve and doesn’t care what level you are.

I think we understeand clearly current mechanic.

The question is. Why as a sPvP player i should not get lvl and therefore can compette in WvW as well if i chose? In order to participate in both formats i have to grind my level up in WvW making it possible in future but till i reach the 80 im in disadvantage compared to others who leveled in PVE and now going for WvW.

Hi there,

I would like to know when

- there will be a ladder or different kind of ranking system
- when it will be possible to organize custom tournaments. I have prepared everything to organize tournaments in our community and i was really disapointed that its not in game yet ! So many work to get comentators / streamers / partners for tournaments.
- when there will be spectator mode?

these 3 things are important. People are starting to be bored after 14 days because there is no competition at all. Random tournaments even you fight organized groups doesnt make GW2 competitive game. Offten you get easy wins and only rarely a good fights.

So please tell me. When we can expect to have competition in sPvP?? And please dont tell “when its ready” because that was supposed to be 28.8.2012

would like to have this too. Just because sometimes i want to go to WvW but compared to PVE guys, im low Lvl as my characters are mostly lvl 2-5.

Downed state is a good mechanic but it need to be balanced.

1) Some classes have access to more skills to defend themselfs (thief can stop you stopming for 10 sec easily, mesmer can do it easily once with no chance to be prevented) Its a bit unfair that some classes have interupts, some have AOE interupts and some have nothing to do for themselfs. I feel sorry for elementalist in current state as they are simply easy target to be stomped. Also its unfair that some “interupts” can be prevented by stability while some like mesmer / thief clone and teleport can´t be negated in any way. You simply have to stomp them at least twice.

Second. Sometimes people get rallyed way out of main combat. Many times i was dueling 1v1 on point downed my enemy and then he get rally due to a kill on middle point. Im not really sure how this work. It seems that “rally” information resets only out of combat, but you can be in combat really long and the person you fought 2 mins ago is allready on different place. So why should i get rally for his dead on different point?

Im looking fowarad for downed state balance as this is an important part of the game and it affect team setups as well.

Looking at the bigger picture.

Thief has actually most of the gimmicky specs out there.
1) HS spam
2) Pistol Whipe
On top of that they have the best mobility in game and stealth. So while i agree they are squishy as hell, a good player on Thief wont die so easily and will most likely at least escape to regen and in few second is ready for next try while you probably allready do not have defenzive cooldowns.

What is really bad is that in HS example, Thiefs are able to spam it all the way. HS HS stealth HS HS stealth.

Also important is to check other classes ability to defend. While Mesmers / Guardians / Engineers still have nice posibility to defend themselfs – there are classes that have little no chance or they simply have long defensive cooldowns.

Thief in current state is unfortunatelly important as he is the BEST roaming / burst / 1v1 class. For really fast use and easy to play compared to others.

But hey.. this is new MMO… all the new MMO have their stealth class broken on start. I havent seen one where its a different story.. Rogues / Assassins / Thieves are always OP at start of new MMO

How do I kill mesmers?

stomping mesmers is actually pretty easy. You just need to know how his illusion work adn yea… looking for Giand Red Arrow helps alot. Also if the mesmer is trying to heal – you see him arround a blue buble while his clone is doing only downed animation.
