Not necessarily…. Story mode maybe normal in terms of challenge, but it’s a linear fixed path with no tokens and a hat reward at the end. What OP is talking about is explorable mode but with a different set of difficulty… what I’m talking about is just modifying certain paths to do the same thing without having essentially a “game +1” mode.
They don’t need to do this. If you can’t clear something, that has already been cleared by countless others, then you need to get better. ANet does NOT need to give an easier mode so people that are bad, notice I didn’t say casuals, aren’t able to get everything.
I don’t know of many people that can only spend 30 minutes a day to begin with, and I am positive that it’s not 80% of the player base. Guess what, Legendary skins are actually able to be purchased off the TC so even a person that can only spend 30 minutes a day can have the opportunity to purchase the weapon after enough time has gone by, even playing 30 minutes a day. Will they be expensive? You betcha. Can someone that has next to no time still acquire them over time? You betcha again.
As for dungeon skins, they are meant to be prestigious things that not everyone has. If you can’t spend the time to get them then don’t complain. You can get gear with the exact same stats by crafting or purchasing it off of a karma vendor. If you want to wear a certain skin, put the time in and get it. Don’t QQ on the forums because your “RL” obligations prevent you from having everything in a video game.
Normal Mode = Story Mode
Hard Mode = Explorable Mode
Bam, wish granted. If you want to beat both with relative ease, then here’s a few tips:
1 – Wear gear with defensive stats, such as Knights Armor. Put Soldier Crests/Medallions or something similar in to give you more defense so you can withstand the hits. While you may not deal as much damage with Knights armor equipped as you do with Berserker, you won’t die nearly as much and therefore the run will actually go faster overall. Masterwork quality works just fine and costs ~20s for a full set. If you can’t afford ~20s worth of gear then you really shouldn’t be going into dungeons in the first place.
2 – Mark targets to be focused down, starting with ranged. Ctrl + T marks a target and a marked target can easily be targeted again by pressing T. By doing this you ensure everyone is going to be on the same target instead of trying to take down individual mobs, which ends up taking more time than necessary as well as leading to unnecessary deaths.
3 – Revive players in downed state, do not revive people completely dead. If someone goes down and you can pick them back up, do so. Don’t revive people that are still in danger as you will end up getting yourself killed which means 2 dead members instead of 1. Too many people are focused on the mobs and skip this part which, again, leads to countless deaths.
4 – Do NOT rez and bumrush a boss if you’ve died on him. If people are continuously dying on a boss and rezzing to do nothing but run in and die, you’re not only going to have a hefty repair bill, but you’re going to end up taking a hell of a lot longer on that boss. Now, if it’s almost dead and only 1 person has died and he can safely make it back in time, that’s fine. If people are just dropping over and over again then stop, regroup, and start from the beginning. Just because you can run in over and over and over again doesn’t mean you should be doing that. It’s just not smart.
Those are the 4 most basic tips to making dungeon runs work. Just because they are only limited to 5 players doesn’t mean they should be easy. They are more like small version of raids where you need to use teamwork. If you’re unwilling to cooperate and communicate then don’t expect to have an easy time. And communicating doesn’t mean using vent, use the in game chat. As everyone grows and adapts you will find runs become easier and easier without ANet having to do anything, other than a few balance problems every now and then.
I really wish they would have made explorable mode 10 mans so people would get out of the mindset that they’re suppose to be pug friendly 5 man runs. They are meant to be difficult but too many players played games like WoW/Rift where 5 mans meant easy mode.
When you say you’re in all exotic gear, you fail to mention what kind you’re using. A group of 5 players that goes around with nothing but Exotic Berserker is going to wipe countless times compared to a group of 5 that goes in with Masterwork Knight’s. You won’t be 1 shot if you actually go in defensive, knights actually has some pretty good offense tacked on, but don’t expect easy runs if you want to just see big numbers.
Everyone is capable of getting everything in this game as long as they are willing to spend the time on it. If you’re not willing to spend the time to achieve things, such as legendary weapons, then you don’t deserve them. It doesn’t matter if you can only play 30 minutes a day or 10 hours a day, both are able to get everything if they are dedicated and willing to put the time forward. If you think things should change because some can only play 30 minutes a day and they deserve the chance to get it faster, well you’re playing the wrong game.
Gems to gold conversion was not put in the game so people could just spend all their RL money and then purchase everything, that costs gold, in game. If you’re buying gems for the sole purpose of making gold then you’re doing it wrong. If you want to go that route then don’t complain that you can’t make as much as you’d like and gold sellers sell for less. If you want to buy gold from a gold seller then enjoy the account being hacked and you losing not only your in game items, but your real life money as well.
^ but do WvW armor have exotic versions?
… Have you looked at the vendors? Yes, they have exotic versions. Those have to be purchased using Badges of Honor, I believe 300 per piece. The karma vendor in front of Arah also sells exotic versions.
they give different stats that can’t be obtained any other way.
“can’t be obtained any other way because at the moment there is no “soldier’s” prefix in PvE !!!
doesn’t this fact alone bother you people at all?
say for example, i want armor / weapon pieces with the soldier’s prefix.
main: power
minor: toughness, vitalityi can’t because there is no such prefix in PvE at the moment.
this is unacceptable.well, for me at least.
Actually, the set you are looking for can be bought from a Karma vendor in front of Arah. At least the light armor I looked at had those stats. There is also Invader armor which you get through WvW.
Using Superior Rune of the Soldier as an example, it would only benefit those who have Shouting abilities: Warrior, Ranger, Guadian. However, it only affects yourself. If you use your shouts in a form of a rotation of abilities instead of by reaction, then the sixth bonus would be useless for times when you don’t have a condition on yourself. For instance, I’m not about to use “For Great Justice!” if I have a condition on myself (I have “Shake it off!”, Mending, and Signet of Stamina for that), no I’m going to use FGJ when I see an opening in the enemies defenses and I’m confident enough to burst in a lot of damage.
If anything some of these Runes are pretty situational and often targets a specific build for a certain profession, while Crests (and Jeweler Orbs to some extent) allows for more flexibility between builds that share similar traits.
Bingo. As an Elementalist the shout bonus is worthless to me, so if I were to use it I would end up subbing another rune or crest in the sixth slot. I just prefer Crests because, as mentioned above, they give different stats that can’t be obtained any other way.
True, but sometimes Crests give you more of the stats you want.
Rune of the Soldier
145 Vit
50 Toughness
Crest of the Soldier
120 Power
84 Vit
84 Toughness
Sup Rune of Divinity
+60 all stats
+12% crit dmg
I prefer the stats that come with the Soldiers Crest as it is a nice balance between Offense and Defense.
There are things that need better balance, that much is true. I can’t remember the instance, think CoF, but the final boss on path 1 sucks. I know you’re suppose to destroy crystals and dps him down, but the crystals spawn far to fast so you have to burn him down instead. I know that’s not the way ANet wants the fight done, but you can’t do it any other way.
I use Crest of the Soldier in all of my gear because it’s the only thing that gives Power/Vit/Toughness. I like the added survivability and they are pretty cheap.
Now, upgrade items with healing power is borderline useless as +healing power is… borderline useless.
They’re only overly challenging when everyone tries to do their own thing while using glass cannon specs and beserker gear. Get some cheap knights armor and some defensive utilities/traits, mark targets to focus down, then enjoy the easy run.
A test realm isn’t needed, however, testing IS needed. I still want to know how Zhaitan went public. Or is he legitimately supposed to just sit there as we beat him to death for 5 whole minutes as he doesn't move or do anything at all other than bore me?
I actually got up, went to the kitchen, got a drink and came back mid fight. That happened.
Now this I can agree with. I mean you literally stand there hitting 1 button for 5-10 minutes. I mean, if he’s not going to do anything then make it take 30 seconds tops. I’d just use the auto-cast feature, but it doesn’t work on abilities like that so I am forced to hit 1 button over and over again.
I was having fun on this dungeon today after patch on 1st way path.Cool bosses, puzzle, etc.
Then i found Giganticus lupicus also known as Mr. Oneshot. First is was crying and talking kitten about this boss raging, then i found videos of ppl that did it.All of them 5 ppl on ts and all of them tanky build also ranged classes. i’m a thief i have 11205 hp, and 105% critical damage(full exotic missing just leggings) i do 1.5k dmg crit using shortbow and 10~15k dmg pistol whip as a melee. TL DR: i’m useless in this boss.
So i spent 2~3 hours trying to kill him and gave up.
Lets talk about second phase damages with 0 stacks
shadow dash = 14k
aoe = 12k
normal atk ( yea he have a normal atk,and has range of entire room) = 6ki’m not a beast at this game but i have played it for a long,i’m lv 30 on spvp and i have done enough pve content to know that…. this boss dont need to be nerfed but, need to be changed, get 5 players on vent with tanky build running around and healing each other is not Skill
Edit: also if ArenaNet want to show their cool content to ppl or casual players as they always highlight this on their videos that this game is for everyone, it needs to be accessible.
You say you were all in tanky builds yet you had 11k hp and 105% crit damage. Just what, exactly, do you call a tanky build? What gear are you using? Seems to me you’re using Berserkers then trying to say you’re using a tanky build. Seems to me you’re using a glass cannon build.
I play an Elementalist and with masterwork, green, Knight’s Armor and Soldiers Medallions I am at 16.5k HP, 2k toughness, 2.8k armor, and 1800 power. That is a decent tanky setup, for an ele, but I could be more tanky. You know how many times I get 1 shot? NEVER. There is NO possible way you are using a tanky setup and have the stats you mentioned.
My hundred blades crits for 9k, I have 3200 armor, 500 healing, 40% crit damage and about 71% crit chance. My hp is 18k, I have about 2300 power ungeared without my massive might stacks I think, as well as having about 10 vulnerability on stuff I hit alot. I can tank anything with this, and still do insane amounts of dps if I have the time to hundred blades. Which for most endgame bosses I don’t, so I just tank and let everyone else do the dps.
Yeah, with my setup I can do a pretty good bit of damage as well, I was just pointing out that a person who says they have 11k hp and 105% crit dmg can’t possibly be in a tanky setup. It’s just not possible.

Yep, once people grow accustomed to how dungeons are meant to be run you will find you die less and less. I don’t think it’s possible not to at least go into downed state once, although I don’t believe I have actually died in one recently, if you actually communicate the dungeons are a strong breeze. ;-)
Mark targets, ctrl+t, and nuke them one at a time. Ranged then Melee. Keep Melee snared/stunned. If you have an Ele in the group, make sure he is using that Greater Earth Ele as it’s impossible to pull anything off of that guy once he’s started. ;-)
Voice comm required to run a 5 man casual MMO? If that’s working as intended, this game is going to be a laughing stock. I successfully raided endgame everquest and vanilla/BC WoW before voice com was ubiquitous. A game should be playable with the tools that it provides. To require more technology than a game provides you to achieve success in any content, let alone a meaningless 5 man dungeon that provides nothing but cosmetic upgrades, is outrageous.
Basically what you’re all defending is Anet putting a stopgag on dungeon PvE. There is no endgame in this game, there’s no raids, there’s nothing. It was a bad idea from the start to design a game so that there would be no raiding endgame, that’s what MMOs have always been and always will be about as the endgame. There’s literally nothing else to do if you don’t want to WvW or sPvP or do jumping puzzles like a twelve-year old girl.
I agree with the earlier poster than Anet only took a month to slit its own throat.
I actually never dungeon run with voice chat, and I clear all routes of Arah, CoE, CoF every day. I run CM exp in my spare time with guildies or pugs I am interested in recruiting because they show competence every day, that dungeon is seriously easy with just a few basic tactics.
This.
Endgame in GW2 is cosmetic or additive armor sets for different builds. GW has always differed from the gear grind of other games, and still mostly is. There’s also multiple endgame content you could focus on, such as (Cosmetic or different sets/profs) gear, wvwvw, sPvP, achievements, dungeons for fun and perfecting them, minipets, dyes, etc. Besides, the word is soon new endgame content will be released.
I’m baffled by the amount of people that don’t understand that gw2 was only recently released. Look at Rift, when that game was released you couldn’t even level past 20 because the content wasn’t done yet. GW2 has a VERY VERY VERY respectable launch amount of content, as well as the bugs being minor (with the exception of skill point bugs in the recent days, and the dungeon party bugs a few weeks ago).
Compare this with (I don’t want to do this) WoW, and it’s already going better than the most played and best known MMO ever.
I agree with most of what you said but I think you mentioned Rift instead of some other game. While I no longer play Rift it did have, by far, the best release of any MMO I have ever seen. I didn’t play Warhammer, at least on release, nor AoC but I know those games had horrible launches. GW2’s release is only second to Rift’s, at least to me. ;-)

You don’t need voice chat in order to clear any dungeon. You do, however, need to communicate with your group. That can be done via chat. I’ve yet to use any voice chat feature, mainly due to my new motherboard not wanting to accept my headset. If you go and watch the manifesto, I think that’s the video I am thinking of, you will find their philosophy on explorer modes. They wanted challenging content set up for a group of players that communicated with each other. Judging by how many “this is too hard” posts on the forums I would say they did just that. Just because it’s a dungeon designed for 5 players doesn’t mean you should be expecting to just breeze through it. Try doing that in any of the dungeons in GW1. If you don’t mark things and communicate then you’re going to die. Same rules apply here.
Imo this dungeon or any other is no longer worth doing at all. While i do like the skins of some of the armor and weapons it’s just not worth the headache to get. Your basically telling me to buy a ferrari with the same performance specs as a volvo. This is just a desperate and game killing attempt Anet pulled to stop exploiters when all they really needed to do was tweak the dungeons to fix the exploits and put a lockout timer on it. So well done Anet you have finally slit your own throats and it’s no wonder your losing players to Borderlands 2 which is a console game for crying out loud. Now how about you reverse this patch, fix the exploits in a way that doesn’t screw over EVERYONE and actually get some decent programming staff that can finally fix thesekittenbugs that have been around since headstart.
In what way is your example even close to related to what I put? I gave you tips as to how to clear the dungeon in a non-painful way, the way ANet had envisioned in the first place. They fix exploits, people find new ones, that’s how people are. If you do the dungeon the right way, every time, then you’re not going to have to worry about.
ANet does NOT want people going in and farming a 1 boss then resetting in order to get badges. They want you to experience the full dungeon. People don’t like doing the full dungeon because they are “too hard”. They are “too hard” because people want to go balls to the wall DPS with no thought to survivability then complain because that didn’t work.
After a month or two, when people get use to the difficulty and actually step their game up, you won’t notice nearly as much QQ on these forums about how difficult things are. It happened in GW1 and will happen here as well. A LOT of players, not saying you, played WoW and expect 5 man dungeons to be " round every mob up and AoE them down with no thought and/or strategy needed". This, however, is NOT WoW and they need to learn to improve themselves in order to achieve the end goals instead of crying that something is too hard. If you’re not willing to adapt then go play a single player game like Borderlands 2. I play them both, but that’s because I’m a special little snowflake. ;-)
Lol MMO where you can’t find a pick-up group? That’s comical. Good luck Anet.
You can find pick-up groups for just about everything in this game. However, PUG’s were never intended to do explorable mode dungeons. Although they can be done, but with usually a lot of frustration, they were never designed with PUG groups in mind. Anet has said this time and time again.
Though you can easily do it with PUGs, given you explain the tactics to them and allow them to take a couple tries to get it down (some faster than others)
That’s very true. ANet said that explorable modes were meant for a coordinated group of individuals. Generally that means a group of friends talking over vent, or something similar, who pay attention to the game.
I’ve been in several groups where I would mark a target and still be the only person fighting it as everyone else picked a different mob. If people actually focus down 1 target at a time the places become a joke, some things are still hard like the airship portion where you’re trying to nuke the dragon spawn but adds just keep spawning. Oddly enough, even though I entered down state a huge number of times, my repair bill at the end was only 1.5s which I made with 1 item drop.
How To: Dungeon Win! –
1. Do NOT go in with a glass cannon spec and/or gear. Make sure you have some survivability. Get some Knight Armor, masterwork will run you 10-20s for a full set and has Power/Pre/Toughness, and pop some Soldier runes in for added toughness/vitality/power. If you are going in with Berserker Armor and a spec with no defensive utilities/traits then expect to die, over and over and over and over and over again and DO NOT come to the forums complaining about how hard the dungeon is!
2. Mark targets! Use CTRL + T to mark a target that everyone should focus on. Generally you want to take Ranged out first as they can’t be kited. Use Snares/Stuns to keep melee at bay. If everyone is focusing on an individual mob then fights are going to take FOREVER and you are going to have countless deaths.
3. Revive people that are in downed state asap but do NOT revive people that are dead, unless all the mobs are down. If you see someone drop and you can save them then do so! If there is a huge AoE around them then do NOT attempt to revive them until it is gone. You don’t want to kill yourself trying to save someone else.
4. If you die on a boss do NOT bumrush him by zerging over and over again from a waypoint. If he is almost dead and you can make it in time then, by all means, feel free to do it but if it looks like it’s going to be a wipe try to avoid rez zerging. Regroup, figure out what you did wrong, and start from the beginning.
Those are the 4 basic things you need to know to clear a dungeon with as little pain as possible. If you don’t want to follow those simple tips then I don’t want to see you on the forums, or in game chat, complaining about how hard it is and how many times you died. There are, of course, going to be bugs that need to be reported and tuning changes that need to be done but the majority of the reasons a dungeon is hard is because people want to run in with no survivability and whack anything and everything they see as if no one else was there.
The Mystic Forge is like a casino. It is always going to be in the houses favor and in the long run you are always going to lose money by trying to create higher tiered items. Now, sometimes you can win and get 30-50 t6 mats, think for crafting mats like bloods it caps at 12.
These recipes accomplish the same thing that the mystic chests did, which is to remove excess mats and ensure a stable economy. Sometimes you win, but most of the time you will lose.
A guild exists on all servers, basically. Can’t really think of any way to describe it. If you joined Bunny Thumpers on Gate of Madness and then transferred to Northern Shiverpeaks you would still be in Bunny Thumpers and you would have access to everything as you did on the previous server. If you have a friend on Gate of Madness and you yourself are on Northern Shiverpeaks you can invite him and he could join and, so long as he was representing that guild, he would have access to those same perks as well.
Hyleks are annoying and I do agree that they can hit hard and the poison sucks, lucky I’m an elementalist so it’s pretty easy to remove the condition. I will say this. If you Blind something that uses 1 skill that shoots multiple projectiles, all of those should miss not just the first. These mobs are a classic example of why it should be next damaging ability instead of next attack.
Imps, not really sure as I haven’t encountered them in a while. I do remember being able to dodge them pretty easily though as the animation is rather hard to miss.
Bull Sharks… I hate them. The hit box on normal is incorrect and seems to match the ones of the Champions as they hit you with the charge attack before you can even see them on your screen. Reported that.
ANet isn’t in charge of how much gold gems go for. The gem to gold price is based on supply and demand. The more gems people buy with $ and sell on the market the less in game gold they go for. Same things go for the reverse, the less people who are buying gems the more expensive they will become on the TC. If ou buy gems for the soul purpose of making gold in game then don’t complain. You could go to one of those super safe gold selling sites and get 100 gold for like 250 bucks! I doubt you’ll even have to worry about your account being hacked. ;-)
I dont think they try to compete with WoW
But instead , compete with all the mmo-games out there (not just 1 game)
For example Rift is te best PvE game out there . It provides more content per month , where no1 have ever seen .
Just because it doesnt have 9 million subs(not ppl) , it means it failed , or its the under dog ?Rift can provide content at a steady pace, because they have a much smaller playerbase… they don’t have to worry about releasing content at a rate that keeps hardcores from getting bored, while overwhelming casuals with too much stuff to ever complete.
Whenever I read a comment like this I have to do a hard facepalm multiple times. Yes, I read the follow up as well. Rift releases content for every demographic. They release new raids for hardcores, festival events for soloers, they release stuff for the pvp croud and pve croud, stuff for max leveled players as well as low level players. Your reason for them releasing content faster then WoW is because they don’t have to worry about balancing? Really? That is just ignorant. WoW gets away with releasing content slower than just about every MMO out because unintelligent people let them get away with it.
Rifts first expansion brings 4 new souls, 2 new contents, both of which are larger than the one it was released with, new raids, and several other things, but they can do that because they have a smaller population to worry about. Now, I don’t play Rift anymore but anyone who uses such a stupid reason as to why a smaller game can release content 10x faster than a tame with more than 20x, probably more than that tbh, the revenue is beyond help.
I like it when I’m being chased by multiple mobs. I will cast it in one direction and then head in the exact opposite direction so I can elude them once the bubble pops. Sometimes it doesn’t help at all, sometimes it saves my Asurian butt.
The “code” doesn’t decrease drop rates for 1 event. You have to do multiple runs of the same events in order to notice a difference in any form. Even when I had a full set of MF gear and was sitting at almost 250% mf I would rarely get anything decent because a 250% chance of a drop that has a 1% chance of dropping is still only a 3.5% chance to drop. There is no way you are noticing decreased drop rates due to the code they implemented by doing 1 event. What you are experiencing is RNG and RNG can be a cruel, cruel, cruel mistress.
If you want to see how the code works go join a zerg group and pay attention to the event rewards. As the event rewards, aka exp/karma/gold, start to decrease that is the code kicking in. Now, if you aren’t in a zerg group and are out and about doing multiple events throughout the zone you won’t notice any change at all. It works the exact same way in GW1.
There are some items that you can buy on the TC that you can salvage and resell those mats for a net gain. I love doing it and it leads to a pretty hefty return. Some items aren’t worth salvaging, naturally.
I just want them to change it to act more like Hurricane. Screw giving more abilities, just turn us into a tornado of death that does a good bit of damage and moves pretty quickly with a short duration. Hurricane is awesome but I will use the Greater Elemental elite on land every time, especially if I need a tank.
Botters are there because people still purchase their products. It doesn’t matter how thorough a game company is and how often they do bannings, until people stop actually buying their products nothing will end. If you want to lay blame on anyone, blame those who give botters reason to exist.
I don’t really see a problem with how it is now. Ranks don’t give you any actual benefit and since gear is normalized people are on the same playing field. If people want to practice their skills there are several different types of target golems they can go up against. Even an unskilled person can easily reach the rank cap and a new rank 1 player can easily beat them.
As for money, the reason it isn’t given out in sPvP is because you don’t need money while doing sPvP since everything is free. Would it be nice to get some coin reward, yeah, but then people would just AFK matches to collect said coin, and I already see enough people AFK to farm glory.
Now for playing against the same group, after one team wins a new match starts with the exact same players as before. The only difference is it’s on a new map. There is no penalty for leaving a match so if you find yourself on a bad team then hop into another match. ;-)
Not saying what you said is necessarily a bad idea, I just don’t see the point due to gear normalization and everything being free.
Well, you I did notice from the video that you did report them. Now this is actually what the anti-farm code was put into place for. They really won’t be getting any drops, exp, karma, or copper by doing this. That’s not saying it’s ok for them to be doing it of course but all you can do is report them. They will be banned eventually as ANet more than likely does mass bannings instead of individual, most MMO’s do.

At Nel, after looking at it closer I can see that he indeed doesn’t have orbs as the OP’s side does. Can’t really tell much about the gear though. Most crafted gear looks the same. I do know it’s not Invader gear though. I know that look at least. ;-)
The only thing I’d like is for them to open the UI up like they did with GW1. As for their stance, I’m sure you could google it as I do remember them recently saying it as well as having said it multiple times since GW1 was up and running.
It’s already been pointed out unless Anthem ggetsa full set after 6 runs then it’s a grind. There is no reason to post anymore in this thread because the type of player Anthem is is an instant gratification player. There should be nothing in this game that takes longer than 2 hours to accomplish so people can instead QQ on the forums about lack of content and quit because of that.
ANet has been doing this so called “grind” for the past 7 years. If you don’t like it then go to another game. Expecting them to change the way they have done business for over 7 years or you will quit just proves how immature you are. Call us fanboys all you want but stop trying to change the game. If you don’t like it, don’t play. Request a refund and go find another game. Let me know when you find a MMO that gives you everything as fast as you want it here. Well… I will have died by then becausee one does not exist and will not, unless you want to take pay2win games into account which no normal person would.
how does that work rune like that?
sometimes i loot an item that have an update with
0/1 power something
0/2 crit somethinghow do i unlock these?
and sometimes its like 3/2 crit something…i am lost in that…
Not really sure what you’re asking, not complaining about your English as it may not be your first language. I’m going to try and answer what I think you’re asking though.
Let’s say you have a Superior Rune of X, it has a 6 piece bonus listed. In order to get that bonus you have to have 6 of those Superior Runes placed in 6 pieces of Armor that are of at least level 60. Items have an Upgrade Slot on them. If you double click a Rune you can place it in any piece of armor so long as that piece of armor meets the level requirement. If you put 3 runes of X in and 3 runes of Y in then you will only get the 3 piece set for both pieces of armor. If you are using Minor Runes of X then all you need is 2, Major is 4. If you have 4 Minor Runes of X placed in your armor then you are only going to have the 2 set bonus, no additional bonus for the other 2 runes that are in the armor.
If you find you don’t like that rune bonus any longer you can replace it with another. Doing this will delete the rune that was used previously though. If you found an upgrade and you want to use that rune you can salvage that piece of armor and you have a chance to get that rune back, sometimes you won’t though. If you want a 100% chance to swap the rune over you can use a transmutation stone. Double click a transmutation stone, place the upgrade in 1 side and the other item with the rune in the other. Select the skin you want to keep at the top, the middle has the stats you want to keep (generally will want to pick the upgraded stats of course), then the bottom has the rune you want to keep.
Hope that answers your questions.

at one point, just pvp or wvwvw or whatever you feel like doing, youll get reward with time.
but if feel like youre getting addicted to grinding, youre not helping yourself.
And if you don’t like this thing you keep referring to as “grinding” then you are playing the wrong genre of games. If you want instant rewards then go play a single player game. MMO’s are designed with “grind” as there is a finite amount of content yet the game is persistent.
Ok, you’re not bright, Erebus, or you have no comprehension skills to speak of. I said MS can give the illusion of being Overpowered if the stars align like they did with the OP’s picture. Without knowing everything that attributed to that damage it is worthless QQ that accomplishes nothing. What part of this are you not understanding? I know the damage from MS can be avoided, that isn’t the point I am making.
A Glass Cannon spec/geared 80 Thief against an undergeared/upleveled glass spec Ele can lead to some huge numbers. In no way am I saying Thieves don’t need tweaks. I want you to reread that last sentence at least 50 times because you can’t seem to grasp simple concepts. What I am saying is without knowing the full story as to why that damage was done and how it was achieved, it is worthless QQ that will accomplish absolutely nothing. Should anyone be able to hit anyone else for 17k+ damage? Of course not, but just posting a screenshot of the damage with no additional information gets us nowhere.
I don’t really have a problem with Arrow Carts as they are targeted AoE, but if it has wheels then why not use them?
Farming: If you played GW1 then the “Anti-Farm Code” they put in should NOT surprise anyone as the same basic “code” was used. You could only farm the same area so many times before they basically turned off the drop chance. If you expect ANet to change the way they did things for the past 7+ years then you’re crazy. If you want to avoid the “Anti-Farm Code” altogether then you can go to a different area and do something else. That’s the whole point of the “code” to begin with. They don’t want you doing the same thing over and over and over again, they want you to experience the world. If you don’t like that then go play a different game, or create your own with your own ruleset.
I actually don’t disagree with your entire post here. except for a few points and here they are:
1) The anti farm code from GW1: They never punished you EXP or gold. It was only for specific rare drops. You didn’t do a mission and get hurt on the EXP. You also wasn’t punishment on weapon drops. Was a different system so I can’t compare karma or crafting.
2) You can’t prove this vocal minority thing. There’s simply no way for you to determine this. You don’t have have the data. You would have to be guessing on percentages…………………….Admit this, I am not wrong here. Even if its a small samply of players, you are suggesting that therepresentation is skewed. * You can not prove this*
3) last but not least Player behavior has changed on a large scale. This is the ultimate litmus test. Waypoints are blocked, there are less players, players are now trying to exploit events to get karma by tagging one or 2 enemies. Meaning there are more AFKers.
1: You’re right, they didn’t reduce exp you gained in GW1 when you farmed the same thing over and over again. I’ve yet to see anyone complain about exp being lowered here though. As I mentioned, if you go do different events in different zones you will NOT notice any change. This is true with GW1 and GW2. If you don’t want reduced exp/karma/gold/drops then do different things. It’s that simple.
2: I can easily prove the vocal minority thing. ANet said they sold over 2 million units. Go through the forums and count every unique poster. Vocal = people who voice their opinions. Ok, so it’s not really easy but you get my point, it can be proven that a vocal majority of a forum is nothing but an extreme vocal minority of a games overall population.
3: I don’t know if this was directed at me. If you participate in an event then you get rewarded. Yes, it does lead to some people doing the absolute minimum in order to get rewards, but they did participate. I could see ANet addressing this and making it where you had to participate more to get the rewards, and I would be fine with that. Contested zones happen a LOT in Orr, but you can go to other zones and do events there if you’re just after event rewards. Sure, you’re not going to get the same level drops as you do in Orr, but you mentioned event rewards which are more/less the same, I think they could stand to be boosted to based on actual level instead of effective level of course.
Lol, polish at release? Good joke bro. The Trading post was down for maintenance for like a month. That COMPLETELY ruined the Gem prices because nobody had gold to spend on gems due to not being able to sell anything on the trade post. The Gem value is finally going up, albeit slowly. The damage has already been done. Seriously, don’t make me laugh, this game was absolutely broken at release…
Edit: and there is no excuse for it. People like me who had been saving up hundreds of dollars for gems to sell for gold completely got screwed because Anet dropped the ball with the trading post being broken for a month at launch.
I’m generally agreeing with people who are trying to make constructive critcisms to improve your game, but nothing about this post was constructive, nor was it as much Anet’s fault as it was your own stupidity.
You got screwed because you wanted to spend money to gain gold on Day 1, you and EVERYONE ELSE. It wouldn’t matter if the market was up on Day 1 or Day 30, guess who has gold to buy gems with this early in the game? NOBODY. Guess how many things are in the Gem shop that are worth buying? Not a whole lot.
And if you were actually stupid enough to already convert your gems to gold, well that’s your fault too. You might as well have kept saving until the gem shop was beefed up, and for the amount of Gem>Gold conversions to slow down. You’re just being a kitten for thinking you’re the only person saving up money so you could hoard gold early on. And on that basis you’d call the game completely broken too, bahahahaha. It was disappointing to see the Trading Post not up for so long, but the game was very polished for its size and scope by the time it came out.
I agree. There was no way someone who spent hundreds of dollars on gems would have made any money at all by trying to sell those gems for gold when the game was just released. ANet doesn’t buy the gems from you, you don’t get paid until someone buys those gems. If no one has gold then no one is buying, doesn’t matter if the TC is up or not. The reason prices are going up now is because supply is starting to go down and gold on hand is going up. If people flooded the market with gems again then prices would sink, yet again.
I did hate that the TC was down for such a long time but thinking you would have gotten rich with gems > gold right as the game was released is just idiotic.
Sigh…let me tell you again. In this game, the content IS THE SKINS and COSMETICS.
You are just failed to realise that there is ALWAYS something which is motivating players : This is content.
However, when this content (getting cool skins) is just a big GRIND fest, its called a GRIND game.
This wouldnt be the case if there would be anything else to do. OR if you could do this like I said: without grind.
That would be easy. Instead of the karma grind they could do that way:
For the helmet example you need to do certain dynamic events, and get items from each -> combine in mystic forge -> get head token.
Nothing has changed, expect that I dont have to FARM the same dynamic events all around the world for insane amount of karma.
Dungeon runs -> 1 run / piece -> still a challenge but I dont have to grind all over and over again.
—
Thats it example.
There is only a grind if you make it one. Let’s say they do make it your way with 1 run – 1 piece of gear, that alone shows you want everything with little to no effort but we will skip that for now. 5 runs and you now have the gear you wanted, can be done in half a days work. Now what are you going to do? You’re not going to help anyone else go through that dungeon to get their set because you consider that to be a “grind”. Since it only takes 5 runs everyone else in the game will have that same look in a matter of days, which means it is no longer prestigious. You are now bored and quit.
If you want a game like that then DON’T play a MMO. If you think the amount of time it takes to get anything in this game, short of a Legendary, is anything close to a Korean grind fest game then you have NEVER played a grind fest game! It’s that simple.
People, as a whole, need a carrot to chase after. With no carrot they get bored, go plop down on the couch, then turn the TV on. Without a “grind”, which is generally only a grind if you make it such, there really is no longevity. There is no way a game company can create a game with an unlimited amount of content to please everyone. If there isn’t anything to chase after, even in a sandbox MMO, you will eventually get bored and move on.
Awe, I thought it was a good idea. :-(
If you think that there is a thing which is “necessary” in a game, you are wrong. Everything in an mmo is for prestige, nothing else.
Its the same here and same in the WoW example. A full epic gear compared to a full Tier XX set is just small upgrade. You are going for it because of “prestige”.
The same thing goes here…if you want a cool set you have to grind.
You guys are just trying to defend this game in every way you can. Failing to realise its flawes because you want this game to be the best, the awesome, the great one.
Wait… let me get this straight. You agree with us when we say stuff like Dungeon Sets/Culture Sets aren’t necessary and are there for prestige. You know that you can get a full set of exotic level gear very easily/quickly buy purchasing it off the TC. The stats are no different from TC Exotics to Dungeon Exotics to Karma Exotics to WvW Exotics.
The only difference is the skin you want. If you want that certain skin the earn it. If you don’t want that skin then no one is forcing you to go after it. No one is forcing you to grind dungeons over and over again. The way this game was designed was so top tier gear was easy to achieve but the prestigious looks were hard to get and took time.
This is no different than GW1 where you could get the level 20 armor in a matter of hours after you started playing, I think it takes like 2 hours to hit 20 if you know what you’re doing, yet the end game armors took a lot of time. This was because of “prestige” as they had no statistical difference over any other level 20 armor.
If you don’t like that then you are free to go to another game. I’m sure there are several people that don’t and will leave for other games. Hopefully they find one they like but expecting the core aspects of a game to be changed when those aspects have been in place for the better part of a decade is ludicrous. Sure, GW1 and GW2 are different games but they are designed by the same company and have the same basic beliefs built in.
