If there is one constant in all of the faction based pvp games I have played, it is not once did fighting someone I could dominate ever make me a better player. SoR is getting nothing from these matches other then getting fat and lazy. Most of the good players/guilds will be bored and doing other things, so you just end up with large zerg balls running around pretending they are becoming a better community.

The problem with that statement is that there’s a difference between dominating the scoreboard and dominating the battlefield. SoR doesn’t really dominate the battlefield unless their numbers are vastly greater than their opponents. Don’t take that statement the wrong way, I’m not trying to start any arguments…I’m just offering an honest assessment of what’s happening on the battlefield.

I think, if they’re being honest, your commanders would admit this as well. SoR is losing a lot of battles that shouldn’t even be close. It’s been that way since this matchup started last week so you shouldn’t chalk it up to certain guilds not being active in RvR the last few days. In fact, it was much worse last week than it’s been this week. I guess that can be partially attributed to the overall growth of the SoR zergs that can withstand heavy losses and still manage to gain ground. However, SoS zergs are considerably larger than what SoR is fielding currently so you won’t be able to rely on numbers alone in Tier 1.

Personally I think the blob tactics are probably the wrong way to go while you’re in Tier 2. I’d go with smaller groups and force your players to learn how to fight properly while you still have the chance.

I hope you know that you’ve ruined my dream of getting an “in b4 we beat you with even numbers and you only beat us when u have a zerg” post with your post.

Its very interesting watching kain go up through the tiers and wondering how far they can go……

Kain, dont listen to the QQ from these sore losers that still think wvw is some kind of 1v1 skill matchup as opposed to a test of organization, and expect to have fair fights.

Ive been following your matchups and have never seen any chest thumping or gloating from kain, only from their opponents.

Anyway, good luck and maybe we will see you in t1/t2 someday.

You can make a ridiculous amount of money if you add permanent finishers or extended duration finishers ( several days to a week) to your cash shop. A greater variety as well. Will act as a great goldsink as well with few unintended consequences on the overall economy. You can thank me later by just mailing me a check for creative consulting.

BG and IOJ don’t wait in queues to wvw. thats a SOR thing.

They still have to restart their game and go through loading screens :/
I dunno i’d just be too annoyed by the whole process of restarting then thinking about how I got beaten so bad that i had to alt + f4, all the meanwhile knowing my glorious opponent is lulzing with his guildies, during the loading screens.

Foliage doesnt sway in all areas?

The foliage in LA near the exit to bloodtide sways with the wind like most modern games. Everywhere else it doesnt and this is really starting to get on my nerves and break my immersion, especially since ive noticed this.

Anet needs to fix this asap before it causes players to quit.

Or is it just my graphics settings.

What we are seeing happening here with SOR dominating is 2 things.

1) Sometime in the middle of last week, we really evolved our game and coordination as a server and began putting alot more emphasize on doing the right things, like keeping scouts and escorting yaks. These are boring jobs but we make sure the players doing these things are praised in teamspeak etc so it makes it a little less boring. Also Rping with your yak helps. We are simply not as lazy as last week overall.

2) Our amazing community really helps the turnout and greatly mitigates player loss to new games like planetside 2 etc. People simply love playing and hanging out here, whether its just in map chat or the server teamspeak.

This if fantastic especially considering it is not a result of any mass transfers but a pure evolution of the server wvw skill.

Yea, our night crew is by no means a “skeleton” crew. We have enough people to easily overrun any server from t3 and cap the entire map.

The night crew here seems to be its own very close knit community where everyone sort of knows everyone else.

Any asians/oceanics that come here will be part of a great group of people.

Can’t tell where this match is going… SoR comes in and conquers the map. And then BG retakes their BL and most of EB. Then IoJ takes over their BL and starts stomping all over the rest of the map. Gaps are closing fast.

I’m sure BG will take a bit out of everyone else’s maps while I’m asleep.

That screenshot is just shortly after valley finally fell to omegas golems. We were heavily outmanned but held out for a looooong time.

Langor in that SS was already ninja capped. We proceeded to ninja cap the rest of SOR towers and shortly thereafter took back valley. All while outmanned. GG

Get a server TS to get more organized like we have at the upper tiers……

Your server is just disorganized and probably dont know good siege placement to effectively defend against zergs… 2 people can hold off a huge zerg with a cart behind the door and a cata on top of supply shed till reinforcements get there.

Ive already reported these bugs several times. This post is just a warning to people so that they dont waste their hard earned gold on a completely broken set of runes.

Superior Runes of Lyssa are horrendously broken.

2 piece bonus > Flat out does not work and not increase condition duration
4 piece bonus > Gives boon duration of 7 sec. like the major runes not 10 sec.

This one is particularly lol
6 piece bonus > as of latest build ( 11/19 ), depending on the map and what ur doing the effect will not go off.

So if you are in Caledon forest and pop your elite skill while running forward the condition removal and boons will not trigger. Standing still or strafing will make it go off.

If you are in Metrica however, running forward while popping it will trigger, and will also trigger while standing still…. unless you are engaged in combat in which case it wont.

Im not kidding….. talk about an appropriate name considering what Lyssa represents.

Save your gold and dont waste it on this junk until anet fixes it, which will probably not be for a long long time considering how minor it is in the relative scheme of things.

The rune is pretty great though when it does work. :/


EDIT*** the 6th bonus has a 50 sec cooldown that is unlisted, my elite is on 48 sec CD so i guess i mustve just noticed this.

However the big problem here is really the downed state which gives zergs far far more tenacity than they should especially when they are attacking a tower.

What I saw this morning occur in SOR BL with SOS recapping Hills about 15 min after we capped it was an utter disgrace and probably the clearest example of why we are losing.

1) We capture hills
2) We capture greenlake
3) Huge SOS force assaults greenlake
4) A smaller force of SOS assaults southgate of hills
5) I capslox multiple times that southgate is under assault and to retreat from greenlake as it was a clearly hopeless situation… well in advance
6) People fight to the bitter end at greenlake and all wipe.
7) I was the only one at hills trying to desperately build a cart behind the door.

If people just learned to retreat more effectively we could have easily saved hills. We had full supply and we probably wouldve need just 5-6 people at hills at the right time to save it.

Currently we are not only being outmanned, we are being straight up outplayed.

I was there and i don’t disagree that people dont listen, but i disagree with the theory you have that had people of listened we could of saved an nu-upgraded keep with no siege in it lol. Were talking about no door or wall upgrades bare keep with no siege whatsoever. Vs a zerg with possibly superior siege and lots of normal siege and supplies. There is no way. Perhaps maybe if there were some superior arrow carts at all the gates and catapults behind the doors etc with tons of players running supply to keep the very very weak un-upgraded doors walls from falling sure maybe but were not even talking about that.

The problem is that all players want to do is zerg. Zerg from one thing to the next. I dont like this play style at all becasue this is the kinds of things that happen when all people do is zerg.

5-6 people wouldve wipe their initial push or at the worst definitely stall it enough to allow for significant reinforcements to arrive to quickly setup siege with the 500 supply we had at the keep.

We had as many people on the map as they had.

There is a huge difference between glass cannon builds and tank builds ur doing it wrong.

Tank builds can easily soak the regular hits, everyone still needs to avoid the huge damage spikes.

Disagree with almost everything u said except the unique drop on a zone by zone basis…

Anything the promote smoking , should not be ingame in my opinion.

Now , lets say we change this to another item , then , what makes only the scout get / being able to use this item?

What would make the others not simple keep stacking 4 and doing the events anyway?

The true problem is , how do you identify who is scouting , and who is running around doing nothing? afk?

You would get credit for defensive events only. As far as identifying who the scout is perhaps you must be out of combat to start smoking, and make the duration of smoking to get 1 stack long enough where it would be pointless to do it in the middle of a siege.

I think this would make it so chances are only those that are the lookouts would get any meaningful benefit. Also perhaps each subsequent stack would give a greater benefit. So maybe smoking one stoge during a siege gives minor benefit to limit use during the siege but the 4th stack would give maybe 15x the benefit to reward prolonged scouting/smoking.

This needs to change. I suggest adding in a consumable item “Pack of Cigarettes”, 20 uses obviously. Each one you consume will add a stacking karma, gold buff for the next defensive event participation. So it will be like you just having a smoke while acting as a lookout.

We would need to limit the buff to like 4 though since we dont want to encourage chain smoking.

What do you guys think?

Sanctum of Rall, T2 Server LFM Oceanic/Asian/EU

Sanctum of Rall, is an amazing mostly mature community, that is looking for Asian/Oceanic/EU guilds and players to help out our overnight coverage. No Queue times.

The current situation is that we are competitive during primetime and NA daytime but we need that little extra push for our night time coverage ( Asia/EU/Oceanic). Currently against what is probably a T1 server in Sea of Sorrows we are able to maintain our EB overnight while eventually losing control of our home borderlands due to attrition via numbers.

We are looking for players to join up and help us maintain control of our home borderland overnight. We are close but are not quite there. We have several dedicated overnight commanders as well, and an already sizable force, just not enough to match T1 coverage. If we can maintain control of our BL overnight with a sizable response force and let the enemy know that attacking our home is fruitless, we can begin pushing into enemy territories to keep them off balance.

Please look for Alpaca Owl…a commander dedicated to protecting our BL overnight and get in touch with him or join his guild.

Again, no queue times, great mature community, dedicated night time crew that just needs a bit of extra help. SOR plays with honor and we garner praise from our opponents for the great wvw match ups we usually create.

Aurust, you need to ease up on the insults a bit before you get the thread locked. You point out some valid issues with our server’s use of tactics, but you could do so in a more diplomatic and constructive manner.

Identify the problems and offer solutions without calling anyone stupid, moronic, idiotic, etc. All of the problems you highlight can be solved through training, so I would recommend approaching from that perspective.

Just had to get that off my chest…….

As far as our overnight coverage…… i think it is midterms that are really pulling our p;layers away. We usually have a much larger presence, with NA players pulling massive OT duty into the night. Im willing to bet alot these are students as they would pretty much be the only NA players able to pull this off.

I just cant see how last week vs TC we had swarms at almost all hours, but now we scarcely had 12 people in EB.

SoR isn’t tier 1 material until we get start getting some WvW guilds to step up. Right now we’re mainly pugs following commanders and it’s a handicap when trying to be flexible on the field. Basically we’re stuck reacting more than taking the initiative because all the pugs follow one commander.

PRX basically runs the show once they hit the field because #1. they’re freaking huge and #2. they got very good commanders on VOIP. I remember them on HoD and they were my #2 choice of a guild I wanted to join.

People, most new and some old, seem to forget that SoR got attention not because we dominated or had 24/7 coverage, but that our T3/4 matches (Darkhaven/Shiverpeaks) were awesome by all accounts.

They were awesome, but it’s WHY they were awesome that got us all the transfers, apparently. People let the wins go to their heads. SoR wasn’t winning matches because we were “highly skilled” or incredibly organized.

We were winning because we absolutely refused to quit. The players we had were the same ones, week after week, and I- speaking only for myself -used to throw myself at the enemy endlessly to push them away from a friend, or stand under tons of AC fire to rez someone. I didn’t care about repair costs, and I spent myself broke buying siege BPs and staying up for 14 hours to play just because I didn;t want SoR to lose, or let my friends down.

Now?

I don’t know half the people in the borderlands, and based on their chat and attitude, I don’t want to. People fail to realize when a fight is lost and instead pull some macho “No we can do this” crap, wasting our time and efforts. We make the same mistakes as we did back in tier 4, even though we’ve improved (but not as much as people think).

Bottom line? In sports terminology, SoR should be considered a server of “grinders”; we were tough, we never gave up, but we didn’t win based on skills or being naturally gifted; we won on heart and guts.

I just feel like we’ve forgotten that.

I couldnt agree more. SOR doesnt have any sort of overall amazingly skilled wvw population. I firmly believe that 90% of us getting to this tier was due strictly because of our numbers and coverage compared to lower tiers.

There are good players and guilds here and there, but the vast majority of us are terrible players.

We do completely stupid crap, and when I point it out I get labeled a pessimist, only to watch everything i predict come true.

We dont know when to fallback to a well defended keep/tower and end up getting wiped out by a zerg that we couldve easily annihilated if we only had a few more people manning siege.

When we assault a tower half of our force gets creamed by carts at the gate, while the other half defending catas gets overrun.

We have people constantly repairing outer wall at bay even though there are 4 trebs aimed at it, wasting supply that should be used for siege. When told to stop, they tell us to stop whining.

Im glad, that this match is turning out this way because all we did was pat ourselves on the back for far too long, when the reality was that we suck overall and just had numbers. [Edit]

We never carry supply, and we always leave our supply camps full stock, never emptied, leaving it for the enemy to power their siege. Meanwhile when we siege, we never have people going back for more supply stalling our assaults.

And thats all i have to say about that.

There’s a reason most MMO’s don’t give crowd control abilities to minions (or trash mobs). Those mobs nearly always come in groups and giving them all abilities like this makes the game more annoying than fun. This is one area I think they should learn from other MMO’s and tone it down a bit…

I think Anet did learn, with GW1 and still gave mobs abilities and gladly so…

Personally, these abilities spice PvE more and prevent rushing careless through maps or some farming methods – GW1 is a good example of this like souldonkey.9534 pointed out.

If anything, i wouldn’t want PvE to be more dumbed down.. like other MMO’s

Here’s the thing…it’s not dumbing down to make the abilities more fair.
99% of abilities that enemies used in GW1 were abilities you yourself had available to you. There were very rare exceptions and unless the monster in question was a Boss or otherwise supposed to be difficult, they were not game-breaking like this is.
Why do Hammer Risen get a 5 second knockdown on me when mine lasts a second if that? Why can they spam said ability every 10 seconds when mine is about a minute cooldown? Why can I get pulled every 15 seconds when my own pulling ability doesn’t have remotely that low recharge?

This isn’t complaining because we want to rush through the map and have no difficulty, it’s complaining because the enemy abilities are unfair. They have complete advantage when it comes to durations. If you want to complain that the enemies attack too slowly and that’s why…there’s a solution to that. There’s no reason Risen should walk up to you and attack once every 5 seconds. There’s no reason that to make up for that their status effects should last 5x as long as mine do and have 5x less cooldown. Every third attack on a Hammer mob shouldn’t be a knockdown for 5 seconds.

Like I said myself earlier, I had no problem fighting everything that showed up to fight me…until they started breaking the rules and having this kind of unfair advantage.

Sigh another case of L2P… which risen hammer mobs? The brutes? they dont knockdown every 5 seconds and their knockdown is easily identified by their charge up animation, or is it the farmers who always do 2 stuns in a row… either use stability or just easily dodge them.

The QQ of bads is the tastiest of them all….

Hmm, well, dumbed down is hardly the expression. Personally I don’t find it fun when I’m pulled left by one mob, then before I can get up I’m pulled right by another, then once again before I can get up I knocked back half a dozen yards.

If my knockdown lasted a microsecond like it does on the mobs it wouldn’t be so bad but when I’m knocked down, I stay down for ages.

If this is what passes for fun in GW2 then maybe I’m playing the wrong game.

Dodge the attacks perhaps? I heard stability helps with knockdowns….. just sayin

I love the design of Orr. It feels like an endgame zone where the most horrible and evil monsters lurk.

Ive learned to adapt and dont have any problems whenever i need to be there.
Leave Orr the way it is or increase the difficulty more, and L2P. Not surprising that this is coming from the “dungeons are too difficult crowd” as well.

Can i just ask with out getting trolled has the make up of TC server changed as people keep posting that most of your server are Casual WvW players how did you get to Teir 3.

We have a few very strong and organized guilds in TC, with highly competent commanders. We also have a lot of strong “casual” players with a lot of experience and know-how. That kind of organization allows us to get to T3, and allows us to be extremely competitive on Friday nights when it matters a lot (particularly when a lot of said guilds and players stay up to 4 AM Saturday morning to play!)

Our problem is that our organization is poor compared to the T1/T2 servers like SoR, and we can’t quite cover everything. For example: at the start of this matchup, TC did quite well on two of the borderlands, but was off the map in ET borderlands and EB 4 hours into the matchup. Not coincidentally, we have very good organization in the two borderlands that we were holding our ground, but not so good in ET BL and EB. Against T3 or below servers, this is okay because they won’t have the complete organization on every map either, but against SoR, it causes a complete wipe on two maps, a huge score difference, and resultant waning interest in part of the player base. Of course, we also don’t have the same oversea coverage (we have some now), but that’s not what cost us the matchup this time.

That’s just how it is right now. There is a huge gap between T1/T2 and T3 servers.

The real issue here is not so much the organization or server transfers but that im on SOR and not on TC. Someone did a study ( can’t find link so you will have to take my word for it), and concluded that i count as 6 or 7 if not 8 orbs. This is a huge issue that Anet needs to take a look at and maybe nerf me a bit. Not sure if im an exploit or not though so if anyone can clarify it would be greatly appreciated.
