Except for this game you will get more of an impact with an Intel CPU over an AMD when the game starts binding up on zergs. I’m talking out of the box performance, not some extreme overclocking.
I can’t speak on that from personal experience.. But I know people with Intel rigs who suffer worse performance drops in zergs than I do with my FX-4100, and I’m running entirely on stock clock.
I’m sorry, but for building a BUDGET rig to make the game more playable, AMD is the best option.
If someone wanted a budget computer to play GW2, I wouldn’t recommend an AMD processor at all. I’d recommend an Intel i3 or high clocked Intel Pentium dual core for when money’s really tight.
No, Windows 8 ships with those ‘fixes’ already.
Might be a little hard to explain but having Vsync on with a monitor @ 120 hz or off at 120 hz will provide a better experience than a 60 hz monitor with vsync on or off. You’ll notice less tearing. Vsync on with it will likely prove to be smoother at lower frames per second areas.
I think you’ll have to look for the lesser of two evils here.
You can try to OC that CPU – maybe is golden
and set
character model limit – low
character model – lowest
reflection – sky & terrain
Shaders – low
Shadows – low
everything else is maxed outKinda get 18-30 fps in large fights
FX 6300 4.5Ghz – if you get FX 4300 to 5.0Ghz or higher
Lets say that 4th gen is about 50% faster in single core performance than FX.
i5 4th gen at
3.0Ghz = 4.5Ghz FX 4300
3.4Ghz = 5.1 Ghz FX 4300so if your cpu is great OC-er you may keep this cpu to 2015 … and then get i5 (K)
False info here.
And im going to start demanding screenshots of your AMD systems from this point on.
Also going to draw the line here. No screenshot, I will also declare your information as invalid.
I WISH FOR IT TO BE A TOGGLE… LOOL
I’m totally RPing with it right now to see how long I can go without breaking into fits and giggles.
I love this ArenaNet. Thank you for the hilarious laughs.
OMG, it affects minipets too?? XD
Does anyone have a shot of the Triple Jungle Wurm with this change? Or Jormag/Shatterer/Tequatl?
It doesn’t affect ANY of my minipets.
IT EFFECTS ANYTHING WITH A HEAD.
I imagine that includes WORLD BOSSES.
I used to play this game on an FX-8350 with a 7970 crossfire setup, but ran one card because it was worse with both.
I mean, yeah it was great for every game that was not an MMO (excluding ARMA 2) but for anything like Guild Wars 2, I just cannot recommend it. I’ve recommended i3 3225 processors over it.
Game just does not use what the CPU is designed for. I’ve since upgraded to an i7 4770K and very much love it.
If you were to confront someone about this and wanting a return, you’d better offer factual statistics on documents to prove such. On top of that, the store owner may not accept the return of said goods, and would require a lawsuit to do such, which would require hard evidence, including your original list.
Not saying it’s not worth a try, but be prepared for that scenario.
Or he could just take it back to the store without having physically modified the machine.
Get a full refund like that.
They already went over this. Yes.
If you do, you will be unable to participate in wvw directly until it’s over. You will only be able to go to Edge Of The Mists. I think this topic is also more suited for the wvw board.
I’m surprised no one’s asked yet what the system specifications are. Given the information I don’t think the user’s machine meets minimum requirements.
Dear ArenaNet.
Leave town clothes alone in all it’s entirety.
I used to feel like other people, wanting it to use in combat but now with this crap happening, I’m going to take the lesser of two evils and say that I want my entire town clothes panel to be left alone.
I paid real money to acquire things pertaining to my creative freedom. I did not pay money for you guys to take it away. I’ve seen good things, and dumb things, but this is absolutely the worst thing I’ve seen from you, ArenaNet. I thought throwing money at you was supposed to correlate to getting more of it in due time. Not change it to a system that makes it almost near-completely useless, such as these stupid all or nothing toggles which is equally as bad as costume tonics.
Please reconsider even putting the town clothes update out with the April feature pack.
Sincerely, an unhappy player/customer.
I don’t see any logical reason to remove town clothes as they exist now. To do so is simply to kitten off the people who actually enjoyed this feature, the people who have spent money on it.
This. I spent my money on gems to buy something that I wanted to have fun with in MY OWN way.
I did not spend money on gems to buy something only to have it changed in a way where I cannot use it how I WANT TO USE IT.
I want to look like this before and after the patch. If I can still do that then I will likely be alright.
I’d just want the town clothing panel to just be the same then as it is now. Make all the other stuff an addition. Don’t take away my creative freedom if that’s what’s happening.
I’m looking forward to almost all of this new change. But I do not want my town clothes to be an all or nothing tonic. I want to be able to mix and match and get creative.
Or at least, mix and match if town clothes will become also wearable in combat then can still do that?
I have Vsync on anyway over here. Though with three monitors it doesn’t seem to do anything now with eyefinity enabled. With it on, it’ll cap out at 120. Off, it’ll go higher.
Oh. Do you have Vsync enabled maybe?
Set your FPS limiter to unlimited. It’s not like Vsync. It just unleads it.
Can confirm this, I have Scarlet’s Kiss. Scarlet’s Rainbow sounds the same.
Actually I’d leave SLI on. Ever since I’ve switched to Intel CPU I’ve had a slight boost in performance from multi card. SLI would help on that laptop I’d imagine. Have to find out though.
I got the alternate, Scarlet’s Rainbow, which is the same thing only holographic.
Considering that the rainbow rifle is marked as a monster only item, I sense untruth.
Trade post yo
I’d say buy that laptop if you’re looking for a mobile gaming machine.
For the budget you posted, I’d say your best bet is anything with an Intel Pentium or even a deal on an intel i3 computer.
Let me state that for the price you provided, you will NOT be playing games at high settings without problems. Unless you find a deal on every part or any pre-built computer with Intel CPU, you’ll have a hard time.
If you’re able to, I’d give redownloading the game client a go. Solved a few problems for me.
Ellyna Graidy's scene in Aftermath (SPOILER)
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Avelos.6798
Okay so if you’re reading this, you’ve probably been around Lion’s Arch by now and seen the damage and distraught citizens.
If you have not been through there already, then prepare for spoilers.
YE HAVE BEEN WARNED
Okay so I want to direct attention towards Ellyna Graidy’s prayers for her deceased father at the memorial cemetery. Her broken voiced, tear-filled prayers for her father are very heavy and coupled with the music makes it absolutely heart-wrenching.
However, I feel that some of her messages are said too fast. Not the speech audio itself, but the delay between the messages that show on screen.
I think there should be a slight longer delay between each messages so that it’s slightly slower and make it a bit more heavy.
Aside from that, it’s a beautiful, incredibly sad and touching moment. Especially with the Lion’s Lament in the background. Tears were shed. Just about.
That is all.
If you still have a warranty on it, use said warranty if you so choose or get it serviced by a licensed professional.
It’s not going to happen.
Mac client and PC client are different clients. You most likely have another issue. I’m sure of it.
Replacing a CPU fan is very cheap. Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. 40 dollars. Gets the job done. Can see that i7 clock to 4.4 GHz easily.
You don’t know just how annoying it is unless you have really bad ping ( ._.)
Fans not spinning? They don’t work anymore. Past service life or defective. Call up MSI about it see about anything pertaining to replacement because if the fans are dead, you have to either find new fans for it purchase a new GPU.
Could get a USB headset. I use one. No problems.
Also in the future I recommend getting some more RAM. The game can use up to 3.9 GB (I think) and having access to all of it can help performance.
Remove the card unit and uninstall the drivers, yes.
since you said the only thing changed was the installation of a soundcard, try playing without it for a bit and see what happens.
I actually googled it at first when it happened and found the solution on the Guild Wars 2 facebook page.
I’d check your game graphics settings, make sure that your CPU is not being throttled down. Your GPU connection looks pretty fine with that PCIe bus width too.
I just had to do this now.
I had this a few times. Right annoying. Clear the forum-en.guildwars2.com cookies specifically.
Just, facepalm.
He wants to replace his GPU. That’s what this topic is about. Keep it on that.
I think that overclocking that CPu would get him better fops in this game
Read the OP’s post. He needs a new GPU.
I’d get any of the ones factory OC’d to 1 GHz that way it’s worth the money.
When you look at the specs… a 7970 is faster than the rebranded R9 280X.
regular 7970 is 925 MHz core, 1375 MHz RAM
7970 GHz Edition is 1000 MHz core with 1050 MHz core boost
and the RAM is posted at 1500 MHz.
R9 280X (rebranded 7970 Ghz Edition) is posted at 850 Mhz core with a boost up to 1000 MHz and a 1500 MHz RAM clock.
You could just get a new 660TI if you’re not fussed.
It’s not recommended, but it’s not a requirement to be lower. Besides, most RAM is 1.5v anyway. or so I last looked.
GTX 750TI.

Just for the record, R9 270 is literally the exact same thing as an R9 270X. Just make it slightly faster, and there you have the 270X.
Using up the entire budget would be an Alienware 18 with dual GTX 780M SLI. The standard features on that monster are absolutely stunning for the price point. However it is an 18 inch laptop. The GPU power will be like a desktop GTX 770 maybe or a super clocked 770 so it will not have ANY graphical problems with GW2. The CPU I think should handle it fairly well too. It’s a heavy noisy beast though but well worth the price in comparsion to for example, Origin PC’s Eon 17 SLX.
the only drawback is that it’s 1920×1080 resolution. Though for a laptop that might be all you’d need with the screen size.

I own an Asus G75VX with an i7 3630QM and a GTX 670MX and that gets some pretty good FPS for a laptop of the previous generation. The unit brand new cost around 1,400 but with your budget I’d push for a faster GPU. The one in mine is slower than a desktop GTX 660 and you see it when you hit particle effects especially.
Anything with a Haswell i7 4700MQ or even 4800MQ if you want a little boost and a GTX 770M or 780M or 870M if you want.
With 2,300, your options are quite broad so that is good. No POS for you.
