Yes my i7 feed my 7970s much faster than my AMD FX-8350 ever would.
I get better performance, at least slightly better, with crossfire on my 7970s since I changed to Intel i7.
Rox and Braham please. They seem like they can be good together.
I can vouch for a GTX760. My ATi 5970 recently died and I replaced it. The difference in FPS is quite staggering (I had a max of 209 once – yeah, two hundred and nine).
I had a max of 289 once on my 7970 crossfire hehehe.

If you’re looking for just Guild Wars 2 performance, you could go with a GTX 660 and expect to have no issues with this game. A GTX 670MX is slower than the desktop GTX 660 and has an easy time running the game.
I would recommend the i3 easily for this game on a budget. Plus if you’re lucky, you can get an overclock out of it depending on which one you buy and the board you buy. Such as, one of my guild mates having one overclocked to 4.2 GHz and powering a Radeon HD 6990 with no issues.
I don’t think Asus skimps on anything to be honest. The Ares II 7970X2 graphics card they released was a pretty beastly example of how much effort they put in.
Haven’t had a problem with either of my two asus laptops, the board in my dad’s computer or the board in my desktop.
I’d just look at it that something that just happened by chance.
750 dollars can fetch you an i7 4770K and a decent MSI Just Game series motherboard and then you could look up some guides to overclocking and slam it to 4.2 or 4.3 and get a nice little boost.
I definitely have not encountered that on my G75VX w/ GTX 670MX. I’d play it like that for a bit though. Looks trippy. However, if you try installing an old driver and that fixes the problem, then we know exactly what the problem is if it only started doing that after the driver update I’d say.
Else it could be some sort of hardware malfunction.
I think it was absolutely core to the design of this new gear that you GET INTO LIONS ARCH AND DO SOME HEROING to get the shiny. The blade backpacks are for heroes, not the shopping network.
Well said.
I earned the crap out of both of mine, and the third which I will have on Tuesday.
That depends on what your current is.
My laptop with i7 3630QM and GTX 670Mx did better than my desktop until I upgraded to the i7 4770K on the desktop.
But when you put out FPS numbers, I’d have to say that you’ll see an improvement.
Depending on the power usage of your other components but at this given moment, I would say no.
You’d want a 430 watt power supply and then it could power a GTX 750 TI. However, you’d also want to consider the CPU would at that point hold it back. You could hunt around on ebay and find an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 or something and drop that in if it supports it.
Why I recommend checking ebay or other sites is because you can probably find one for fairly cheap. No loss and if it doesn’t work you can resell it.
BLADE SHARD MINING NODE FOR HOME INSTANCE!
really?
Yes, really.
If it’s not worth it to you, then don’t buy it. It’s worth it to some others, so they’ll buy it.
It’s not worth it to anyone, and no one see’s it as worth it. The people that buy it have an addiction that is being exploited.
It’s called gambling. The player loses 99% of the time. That’s capitalizing on something that works. Any real life gambling situation is exactly the same.
If it’s not worth it to you, then don’t buy it. It’s worth it to some others, so they’ll buy it.
BLADE SHARD MINING NODE FOR HOME INSTANCE!
Just RMA it anyway. It’s free. For someone to waste a free opportunity like that is just stupid, no questions asked.
And don’t jump to conclusions, this sort of thing happens with Nvidia too.
Yeah I had realized that last night with gift of blades… I was sure I lost 50 shards though. I’m so dumb lmao
It just happened again. I’ve lost an upwards of 300 blade shards.
I looked over all of the characters I have and my bank and even used the search tools provided but I cannot find my stack of 250 blade shards. Anyone else have that happen?
Hope you have as much fun with Eyefinity in this game as I have. I have a hard time turning it off now because I forget I’m playing a videogame :P
I had that. Follow the eyefinity setup correctly :P
Right click, delete. Literally that.
I as well as many other of my guild mates have confirmed this is happening too.
Nevermind this topic can be deleted I posted a message to an already existing topic in bugs section —--
Over time today while I have been playing, sometimes when I open my inventory panel window, the window becomes larger… and larger… and larger… three of my other guild mates have confirmed that this is also happening to them.
Actually this topic might be more suited for a bug reporting forum. BRB posting there if there is one then will politely request this one be deleted… ( ‘-’)

No issues with my 7970s.
I’m sure DDR3 will work with pretty much anything in the intel i series at this point. It is the mainstream standard. But 1600 is becoming more popular. Some of my suppliers are shipping 1333 more expensive than 1600.
The Grove is a heavy hitter of the FPS oh yeah,
The worst one that I’ve seen in PVE though is the ramp behind the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch. Dropped all the way to 15 FPS there even on an i7 4770K @ 4.4 GHz.
Nope! no GW2 reinstall required!
It’ll work just fine.
However I would personally recommend reinstalling Guild Wars 2. Every time I’ve had a major change in parts (CPU, motherboard) or installed off the disks and then downloaded the remaining 4 GB of the game, I’ve had visual glitches here and there sometimes. A reinstall of my client completely removed that problem. But if you don’t get that issu,e you’re golden.
Did you try using the search bars? I’ve had this problem before…
I limited my budget to like 800 and just bought the i7 4770K and Maximus VI Formula. (Tip: I bought them locally because I support my buddy’s business haha. My price on board and CPU were just slightly higher than online) I sorta wish I had still been using my AMD FX-8350 until the EOTM patch so I could have seen what it did. However I will sometime soon-ish hopefully be purchasing some parts to re-use with my FX-8350 (I honestly don’t want to let that $220 dollar purchase just sit and collect dust) and we’ll see how it goes haha. I bet it should be good.
Overall, however I’m very pleased with either processor since I’ve been using my FX-8350 from mid summer until recently. However if the FX-8350 actually is doing better in this game then I can recommend it easily.
P.S. I clocked my i7 4770K to 4.4 Ghz. Just, fantastic.
…How do you overclock a laptop AMD cpu…?
Why do PS4 and Xbox One both use a ‘low end’ CPU? 1.8 GHz 8 core Jaguar CPU… Well, that’s probably because AMD paid to be there just like whoever paid to be in the PS3 or just like IBM paid to be in the Game Cube, Wii, and Wii U. And so now developers get to code for it in which means many good things for AMD FX on desktops.
Mantle is not going to accelerate an Intel processor. It’s to accelerate AMD CPU and graphics and Nvidia graphics if they choose to support it. It’s a low level API that let’s a developer get closer to the hardware than Direct X ever will. Direct X isn’t going to change the game. Mantle might change the game but for Guild Wars 2, it’s not going to happen. Simple as that. ANet’s already got a working platform that they can improve on and make it the best it can be. Why scrap it for some stupid new API that so few know how to work with?
Why is he wrong with PC always being bottlenecked? No explanation = no proof = Sirsquishy is right. One of the points of a debate is to explain why you disagree with the other’s point.
Get this kitten under control. three nights in a row? Are you serious?
Unparking your CPU cores doesn’t need editing of the registry library. Just set your computer to High Performance power profile. You can also easily tweak the other settings in advanced settings in Processor Power Management. “Minimum Processor State” to 100%. Problem solved. Be sure Maximum is 100%. But basically, because of that, I’ve never had any ‘parked core’ issues.
I’d just buy the new laptop lol, always nice to have more than one machine haha
I doubt you’ll find an intel board for an AMD designed laptop. You’d have to get a whole new everything, so much so that you might as well just hop on Amazon or Ebay and buy the intel version.
My point though is that a GT 540M can still hold it’s own well enough to be considered. Though not as much as a newer generation but you know, it’s one of those things to think of if you want the El Cheapo-book
I wouldn’t consider a GT 540M in a new laptop today either. Not even a 640M since it’s a rebrand. 740M or 750M.
It’s still good for what it does. Just play auto detect settings and in most cases it’ll give you enjoyable levels.
A friend of mine with an i7 2720QM and GT 525M on autofetect settings gets up to 40 fps. Plays good for him.
the 540M is a pretty weak GPU. Spend the extra on a 760 or 770m
Ahem.
I’d have to say that Windows is designed to run with or without the pagefile since there’s an option to delete it… I’ve had my pagefile disabled on my own machine for the past two years and it was just fine.
DDR4? Maybe that will actually mean a performance increase in RAM instead of just adding dual channel, quad channel, triple channel, etc. Aside from that I don’t know if there’s any valid difference between DDR2 and DDR3. DDR3 800 CL6 keeps up fairly well with DDR3 3000 CL12 when it comes to games. And don’t forget, DDR2 800 is high end memory back in the day. (DDR2 actually went up to as high as DDR2 1066 but that was likely to be really expensive.)
Oh well I guess I didn’t know that lmao. I only ever looked up information about my own board and FX-8350 as well as reviews regarding some FM2 stuff.
My own AMD board only went to DDR3 1866 and didn’t really support SATA 6GB/s, It said it had it but it operated half the speed as it does on my intel stuff now.
You are thinking back to the AMD 7xx chipset (socket AM2/AM2+/AM3) that only supported SATA 3.0Gb/s, again based in the Southbridge chip, so motherboard manufacturers used standalone SATA 6.0Gb/s on some models.
Yes I just looked up an article about it.
No more CPU for AM3+ is what they should do. AM3+ is too old and needs to be retired. USB 3.0, SATA 6GB/s and all that other good stuff that comes natively supported by Intel now is made to be half supported on AM3+ by software bridging and changes it into some Frankenstein platform.
Is there a source on that?
Yes.
990FX/SB950 chipsets.
It doesn’t support SATA 6GB/s. Well, actually I think it does so you got me there.
It doesn’t support PCI Express 3.0 so any AM3+ board that has it is a waste of money.
It doesn’t support USB 3.0. (It’s using third party software)
It doesn’t support any RAM speed higher than DDR3 1866. Some boards go as high as 2133(?) last I checked which was a while ago.
You already know how old AM3+ is.
Any AM3+ board might have all this, but it’s not going to take advantage of them.
Heck, 990FX is a rebrand of 890FX and SB950 is a rebrand of SB850. (Granted they still can hold their own well enough so it saves money)
But still, AM3+ needs to be retired so a refresh can be made with supporting current features. Unless AMD is planning just to move everything to FM2+ which I don’t really have a problem with at all.

You go to computer, system properties, advanced system properties in the top left of the window, then to the Advanced tab of the smaller window, in the box marked "Performance"click that button Settings then to the next Advanced tab.
“Virtual Memory” there should be some numbers and some words here blah blah blah then click “Change” Window pops up, one of the options is to “No pagefile” and I click that. Keep in mind I only recommend that if you have 8 GB or more RAM. It just makes everything use the actual RAM and it’s much faster, and all that stuff. At the expense of having less free RAM which shouldn’t be much less anyway. I have 16 GB so it’s fine.
SSDs are more valued for read times than write times. More write and delete will degrade them faster and faster. That might be different with new SSD but it’s a good habit to take.
