TY very much for the tip as soon as i deleted one message in my inbox the trasnmutation crystal was delivered ASAP
Lolol glad it helped. Dat limited mailbox space… :F
Oh okay. Thanks for the info. I read that it was supposed to be out during the current living story so I was… ?
…and that it was supposed to be available in the gem store now?
I only read a bit about it, how some people have it, and it not being in gem store. What’s up with this? I got the other two pieces and want to get the third. :/
Or is it just.. not out yet?
[Edit]
I have it now so all is good.
P.S. I don’t care about the animation. but it’s a bonus if it’s awesome like the harvesting sickle because it has a custom animation.

In my experience with FX 8210 it tends to get very very hot when overclocked so it may be throttling down to prevent damage.
Actually now that this is mentioned my processor did the same thing on high overclocks. They weren’t stable so it throttled down to 1.4 GHz so I had awful frames. This may be the cause.
Personal story Its some fun in the begining, but just awful after the story lines converge. It gets repetitive too. Plus who doesn’t want to kill off Traherne?
Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssss…
I hate Trahearne.
The game is very poorly optimized.
This, all of this, is correct. This is basically what GW2’s main issue is.
Did you check to see if your mailbox is full? It happens to me a lot. :Y
Hmm… Well, I know that the AMD CPUs don’t have that good of single threaded performance compared to intels… though have you ever attempted overclocking on it if you are able to?
This problem is certainly new to me.
The only ting I could suggest though is reinstalling the game or something…
April Fool’s 2014: Waypoints removed for your convenience. Enjoy your day.
Yes.
Although after reading this thread I may try just going through portals and traveling a little bit sometime.
Wow, man. This a hard story to read. Kevlar certainly is a moron =_=
I purchased my copy of the game less than two months ago and I make the effort to learn faster. I’ve already seen a few ‘kevlars’ in my time playing too.
Did the FPS recently start to drop or was it always not… good?
then feel free to explain to me why a buddy of mine get’s much better performance on his i5 3570K than my FX-8350?
His computer is tweaked and maintained far better than yours?
In all seriousness though, without knowing more details, there could be a multitude of reasons why. Also what is “much better”? 3 FPS? 30 FPS? Consistent 20 FPS at all times?
Maybe around 10 or better in cities like lion’s arch. I know that he runs his i5 at around 4.3 or so GHz.
also ours is maintained about the same level.
Oh dear. I’d firstly check if you have Anti-aliasing on the highest settings.
that might not be the issue but it’s worth the check I think.
you have Depth Blur on where you normally have it off. that’s my assumption. give it a go with Depth Blur unchecked
aw that seems to have worked, thank you!
Many welcomes! ^^

And yes sadly there are DIY gamers who believe if you aren’t spending at least $200 on your video card then you aren’t serious about building a gaming system.
But those guys are mean. I like helping people find what’s best for them rather than throwing the most expensive piece of trash overpowered gaming laptop or desktop at them so they can edit photos for Photography class.
I installed from the DVDs then it downloaded idk like another 5 or was it 10 GB of updates. Woooooooooooo.
Your problem is your expectations Turn your settings down already.
If you are talking about graphic settings, who was the liar that told you turning the settings down would help?
It won’t. Go ahead and try it.This game is complete kitten when it comes to performance
Thats what you get when poor programming talent meets cheap sponsors.
That’s right, the game runs like crap because of the inability of the programmers to generate efficient code, plus the greed of NcSoft making the programmers load the clients with the heaviest tasks in an attempt to save on server costs.
There, I said it, you can infract me now but I spoke the truth.
I agree with this. I get awful performance in some things but honestly? On a computer like mine or any other computer like mine, (high end CPU with two graphics cards) it should be running flawlessly! But no, poor optimization.
Don’t use the hotfix for bulldozer or vishera processors. I used it and windows did not deactivate unneeded cores and the performance dropped very badly. I uninstalled it to let Windows manage which cores are used and it’s all fine. Lower frames are to be expected from the AMD counterparts unfortunately. I have the FX-8350 as well. Again, that hotfix for disabling the windows core parking is a bad idea.
I get like 30-40 FPS in lion’s arch central area and 60 FPS (v/sync is yes) in most other places and like 10 FPS in huge zerg battles in wvw but whatever that’s like one place.
also I use 7970s so we’re pretty even on this issue.
In fact, we have the same specs. Just different brands and I have a 7970 while you have a 7950 (high five for similar machines!)
The one thing that is holding back our processors is single threaded performance unfortunately.
the only way you’ll get performance like Intel users is by either switching to an intel processor like an i5 or i7, or overclocking the FX-8350 to like 4.5 GHz or something. But honestly? Don’t bother switching to an intel processor if it’s just for guild wars 2. This game’s great but no game is worth a 400-500 dollar upgrade for 20% better frame rates.
You realize that statement…it just isn’t true,At All ..right ?You will Not get a 20% performane boost from just switching to an i7,stop pulling numbers out of your kitten like that. The 8350 outperformance some i5 or even i7.Not even speaking about the price/perf ratio…
then feel free to explain to me why a buddy of mine get’s much better performance on his i5 3570K than my FX-8350?
He has better frames on an i5 3570K + AMD Radeon HD 7770 than my AMD FX-8350 + AMD Radeon HD 7970.
Guild Wars 2 focuses on more single threaded performance than multi-threaded, something that the intels currently beat AMD at. This is coming from an owner and user of a completely high end AMD PC.
You also failed to realize that he would need to buy a new board as well.
(edited by Avelos.6798)
There are gem harvesting tools? o..o Like, the gems you use as currency on the gem store in Guild Wars 2? What is this? o..o
Umm… okay. I’d try and look into something about completely removing the game from your computer and doing a 100% fresh install. wiping any Guild wars 2 registries, local files, everything. I’d look into that if nothing else works but as far as I know, I don’t know how to fix this
that’s a neat problem… Have you tried going to other places?
Put that proc at like 3.2 GHz. It should do a lot better.
D= Please read the thread first, overclocking was already discussed.
Serry, I usually read the first post and just make a direct response to it.
now that I read stability and plausible heat issues all I can really say now is perhaps fetching something like a Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler (really cheap but really good) can help dissipate some heat. And yeah overclocking is a bit tricky but get it right and there you have an effective boost.
Also to OP: I will say that your Core 2 Quad is bottle necking your new 7850 (which is unfortunate)
I had a Phenom II 3.6 GHz quad bottlenecking my 7970 until I upgraded ._.
Oh because having an AMD / Intel fight is really going to help OP. Good job guys.

For AMD, I used Catalyst Control Center’s settings. anti-aliasing mode ’override app settings" anti-aliasing samples 2x or 4x (both look reasonably good and great)
filter: standard
anti-aliasing method: super sampling
morphological filtering off.
Frame loss: about 1-4.
Keep in mind though that I use a Radeon HD 7970 so I guess this isn’t hard to do for me.
was gonna buy a a few new parts for pc my budget is about £ 200 or £250 and wondering if could run these game on 1080p med/high at stable framerate: far cry 3, guild wars 2 ,bf3,and maybe planetside 2(i know its a stretch)
. my comp has 8 gb of ramAmd fx 6 core-black edition 6100 (around £ 90 i can get it)
sapphire radeon 7750 (im not sure on this , so suggestions)
Change the 7750 to a 7770 and it should do well. Maybe a little higher speed on the processor than that 6100 too.
You would be able to play on highest settings with that graphics card at 30-40 FPS assuming you’ll be playing on a 1080p display.
40-50 in cities like lion’s arch. Or more. Buddy of mine has an i5 3570K and a Radeon HD 7770. 40+ fps in lion’s arch and 60 FPS everywhere else (v/sync yes) and the usual drops in zerg vs. zerg. he plays 1080p.
the i5 2500K and 7970 will bring in like the same.
Except that the 7970 will allow all settings at maximum and maybe even supersampling while still getting a decent framerate like you mentioned.
Oh I forgot to mention that this friend with the 7770 is also running max.

I ran the puzzle myself. Far more opponents there than normal. Due to this achievement the puzzle is filled with players just looking for easier-than-normal kills as many PvE players don’t do WvW and don’t know the strategies for it.
That’s like picking on the smallest kid in class for fun. And that’s never cool.
Actually when I did it, there was a surplus of enemies but most of them wanted the achievement. Basically I went with the mentality that if you don’t act like you want to fight, you won’t be fought. Of course some people don’t have this thought methods and will fight but that was mainly at the beginning of the place. At the end I was sitting in a group of like 8 opposing enemy players. Just chilling.
@hoegarden
The Mark/$ chart only confirms that the 4670k is a great choice (just like the 3570k). The CPU you suggested is also good, but I’m willing to pay more for a better one, since GW2 is a CPU-heavy game.True, it’s just a matter of what you use the pc for. If i can render a scene in 3dsmax faster i will be happy. And those extra cores help a lot. So for my playing the game is not that important. I can run and play it, that is enough for me :P
I could buy an Intel one, but i would ended up with a pc who cost me twice the amount i spend on an AMD one.
If you need more cores but don’t want to worry about overclocking, then the AMD FX-8350 is the right choice for you. I got one of those and it’s faaaabulouuuuussss
Easiest solution: Just leave everything as it is(and I’m sure that’s how it will happen).
And it won’t change. If it does, I’ve done the dungeon and the obsidian sanctum (twice in a day because I forgot I did it in one daily already) then they’d have to give me the achievements I didn’t get. But that’s not going to happen. I’m gonna earn it and not complain about it.
Everyone is aware that 6/7 caches are in PVE. (okay maybe everyone or most people) Maybe something different was wanted? I thought it was a bit of a **** move when I saw it but then I later accepted it and happily went on my way. Completed though so now I don’t have to do that again. Or I can. because it’s fun. lol
the only way you’ll have any faster loading at this point is if the game is on an SSD.
Obsidian Sanctum’s portion of the Living Story Achievement was easy as eating caaaaaaaaaake. Why people dare baww about it is beyond me. Go when there’s a lot of allies! Wait for the low point of player population! Fight your way to it!
And people getting mad over people breaking some sort of ‘truce’ in there? Really? It’s a Player Vs. Player zone; why should anyone have to adjust to fit your desire? If you want to get there then focus on that. If people want to attack you, then be prepared to fight or die. If people don’t want to attack you and are after the same goal then go happily along your way. I started fighting around in some of the areas because it was fun and entertaining. Though I ditched shortly after when a mob of opposing world forces showed up and started riding pain trains around all over the place.
Living Story achievement in a PVP area.
Pro-tip!
Be quick, or be dead.
The dungeon is pretty easy and can be done in less than 15 minutes.
I think that 1 guaranteed gold is enough.
What party configuration did you have? For trying it out we went with a lot of bunker builds and it took quite a while lol
I’ll admit that it was impossibly frustrating at times… but I enjoyed it.
I think there’s another form of anti-aliasing to fix that. just, what it is I have no idea. I’ve never seen that before.
Intel i5 3570 / 4570 (if you want fourth)
8 GB DDR 1600
GTX 660 / AMD Radeon HD 7850/7870 (7770/7790 also good choices)
650 watt PSU
Mid tower PC case (60-80 dollar variety Cooler Master)
120 GB SSD from any of the major brands like Mushkin, Kingston, OCZ, etc
500 GB Seagate Barracuda
Asus motherboard with Z77 chipset
or equivalant motherboard for 4th gen Z87
Standard DVD drive (woo, 20 bucks)
And of course, Windows. If you do not already have a product key for Windows 7 or 8 or whichever. Or you have a legal activator and a copy of either.
The cheapest build here should run the game fairly well (if a 7770 or 7790 Radeon HD is selected for graphics) and should only run you about… 800 dollars?
Although ‘Gaming’ PC for outside of GW2, you’d see good results from like a GTX 650 TI BOOST and a Radeon HD 7790/7850, 7870 if you want to stretch that far.
Also apologies for not specifying exact parts via links but this should help give an idea!
Note: I left out the K to indicate non-overclockable processors. Why? A bit more money saved. Affordable gaming PC is the topic!
(edited by Avelos.6798)
Honestly the entire machine is great, even the 650 Ti BOOST.
Rather than getting the 660 as some people suggest, go with what it is for now and then later on add another 650 TI BOOST for SLI.
Yeah, Set I know what you mean. I started out on a good little Pentium 4 2.93 GHz way back. My system specs are definitely enough to eat this game like a million times over (okay exaggerated but who cares) just that single thread performance on the AMD procs aren’t as good as the intel counterparts. Maybe someday it will be fixed, maybe not. I’m having a blast though with the game on the upside. Got a 7970 here with my FX-8350 so all is pretty good!
As for WVW I should try those graphics options. I just play everything on max personally
I wish XP would die already… Vista is perfectly fine.
Windows 7 master race
Anet dropped the ball by using an old engine and not thinking towards the future of multi core processors and their capability.
Yeah… but, you never know, maybe a slight rework to accommodate AMDs good processors will happen some day. I hope for it but for now, I don’t mind. At least it’s not playing at 20 or below on this machine… I put too much money into it for that.
552 hours and 50 minutes in the past 54 days.
without sacrificing sleep.
This game is so addictive x..x
No problem. Tis is always good to know these things even if its just for some extra general knowledge.
I personaly only got my 3930k for 2 main reasons. 1) for it to last a bit longer than a lesser cpu, 4+years. 2) becouse i could :P
I woud never recommend such an expensive CPU for pure gaming to som1 else unless they had a budget large enough to bassicaly have money to throw around.
that’s purely why I got the system I got myself XD Because I could. And my old one crapped out on me because it was garbage.
WvW FPS wont be any higher with a 3930k vs a 3770k or a 4770k.
I get 20-25 FPS in BIG zergs. Thats about as best as ur gunan get.
The thing with teh Intel CPU’s is heat vs performance.
The 4770k is better per core than a 3930k ..so it should be better for gaming however the 4770k is one very hot runing chip and cant OC to the the degree a 3930k can. That difference evens out any advantage the 4770k had per clock. So on air a 3930k can potentialy go up to 4.7ghz but the 4770k can only go up to about 4.3ghz. At those clocks they are both roughly at the same performance per core.
For GW2 that means 20-25 fps in those really big zergs. Now if u move away from GW2 into games that tke advanatge of all cores/threads like Crysis 3 THEN u see the 3930k pull away.. but only when ur talking top end SLI (removing any GPU bottleneck) and multi monitor / ultra HD resolutions(requir more bandwidth). And thats thanks to the extra PCI-E bandwidth and ofc the extra cores of the 3930k.
Bassicaly unless u plan to spend a bucket load on the GPU side of things, and/or plan to use the 3930k for other thigns other than gaming, then u may aswell go 4770k.
I for example always knew that the 3930k would last alot longer than a cheaper chip. It should last 4-6 years at the rate CPU’s are progressing, and within that time i will go SLI, mainly to allow me to play at Ultra HD when i finaly get my hands on a Ultra HD screen. At that point ill likely have ether 2 or 3 GTX Titans or 2 of its faster successors.
Many thank yous for the response! Probably the best one since you are using the 3930K XD I will keep this info noted. Though I probably won’t upgrade to it, was just a general question of curiosity but thank you for your time! ^^
I wouldn’t upgrade for Guild Wars 2, the higher end hardware simply just doesn’t justify the cost/performance for this game since high end hardware doesn’t scale well with certain parts of the game. I’m not sure what frame rate you get right now, but the 3930K and other processors of its kind won’t be using all their cores to play Guild Wars 2. You’ll be lucky to see a quad-core max its resources out on Guild Wars 2.
Now if you do a lot of video/audio encoding and stream yourself while playing the game, then it might be worth it depending how much non-gaming you do. Just for the game though, no.
Haha, you are correct. Though for this game I’ve seen a fair amount of builds getting awesomely high frames with this processor
