It would be a complete waste of my time and effort to do so.
Really? So you disagree with my above post (the second one)?
No, I feel what you are saying in regards to how ultimately it would be better to have 10000 badges and 3mil karma. I could agree with that sort of change. Its your use of patience that concerned me. But that’s not very important to discuss.

Debolith,
Stoic patience? I won’t even begin to dissect such a comment. Aside from that, everything you are trying to justify is forfeit by the fact that you can use your credit card to obtain everything.

I’m sure those who defend this current system are from games like Aion, Lineage 2 and Tera. Typical Korean games that gives these type of players a sense of self worth, since they got lucky and were able to get a item before another player. Thus, giving them the false sense that they have accomplished something.
That’s all good for a Korean game, but this isn’t one. This is a American game. Its absolutely shameful that Anet has decided to use RNG to this magnitude, let alone a notorious grind. For what? A skin.
What developer wants to create content that only a handful can experience? I’m sure people will agree with me when I say, I don’t give a kitten about someone else running around with a legendary. I don’t see them as special or elite, that’s their business. I just want my own, for me.
It’s very much possible, you have to be fast and precise with your jumps.
I don’t see the problem with it being so difficult that some people can’t do it. I mean it’s an ACHIEVEMENT after all. If it wasn’t timed it would be way too easy and everyone would be able to do it without any trouble.
I was doing it with a group of about 8-10 people and i didn’t have trouble seeing where i was going. All of my failures were from poor jumps or being too slow. Once you get about half way up most people have already failed so…get better and you won’t have to see other players!
I can’t even see my character. The only time I can make it far is if everyone else dies within the first few jumps. The biggest problem are norns and charr, they are just too large. The lava speed comes in second, because if you are slightly too slow its impossible to make the jump on the tiny rock which leads you further upwards.
We can talk timing when others and myself can see their character precisely at all times.
Characters with no run speed passive are at a severe disadvantage.
Last I check on my theif no skill passives work. Only thing that seems to work is using a banner like warhamemr before the warp and then it carries through so you can cast the speed boost
Ele passive works.
Characters with no run speed passive are at a severe disadvantage.
Charrs and overly large Norns ruin this puzzle. 95% of the time I can not see my character due to other very large characters overlapping it. Which makes timing jumps almost impossible. Combined with how fast the lava raises, it makes this puzzle quit frustrating. I’d rather do it in my own private instance, that way no one else gets in the way of jumps.
Don’t forget Malchor aka Da Vinci. He looks just like Da Vinci from AC2 lol.
I’d be very disappointed in Anet if Cantha didn’t make it into the game for a stupid reason as the OP suggests.
OP makes some valid points.
But I don’t feel simply replacing retaliation with other boons would solve the problem. That could possibly make guardian op or under powered…we don’t know. My point is, as you mentioned guardian practically revolves around retaliation. So removing it or replacing it will cause severe issues in the long run.
Anet’s patch release times only benefit those in the pst. I’m on the east coast and by the time the patch hits I will probably be sleep. Certainly Anet can do a better job giving specific dates for their patches. They should say Oct 22nd for pst, Oct 23nd for non pst.
The rng needs to go, its just a substitute for real content. The insane amount of mats needed to craft the legendary is ok with me, since you will eventually get them if you work at it. But with rng, you may or may not ever get what is needed since its totally out of your control.
Events are lagging like crazy, the major ones like the 5 gods and Jormag. Fix your servers, no excuse why the lag is this bad and no excuse while all the servers are located in texas!
I don’t like sword nor shield, both are underwhelming weapons to me. Shield because of the long cooldowns to skills that aren’t very good. Sword for a different reason, it brings nothing to group. It has no combo fields nor combo finishers.
I guess its a good solo weapon though.
Both are bad, but I’d say mace is a bit better depending on your build. Before I get flamed about calling both mace and sword bad, hear me out. The reasoning is the lack of combo fields/finishers with both weapons. Mace has one but its completely circumstantial, protector’s strike gives a whirl finisher if you do not get hit. But the chances of that happening is rather low.
Combos are big in groups and I mean big. And both weapons are lacking them, I feel they need them to be adequate along with the scepter. For now I’d say both are more solo weapons than weapons you take while in a group.
They nerfed the GS symbol because of retaliation, there was no other reason. They could of removed retaliation all together from the symbol and replaced it with something else.
I agree, I spend more time auto attacking with the great sword now. Because CDs are down. When before the symbol filled in the gap between cooldowns. Also, the change completely neutered the Zeal trait tree. The extra damage to symbols and gaining the ability to apply vulnerability by using symbols is useless now.
They could of kept the cooldown as it was but removed retaliation and replaced it with a condition like burning or maybe fury.
I just finished TA up path and no one in the group was rewarded for killing the nightmare tree. Usually after the tree is killed there is a cut scene, but there was none. Only the title at the top that the arbor is now safe.
I’m quite sure Anet won’t give me or my party members the tokens we should of gotten. But I’m going to be honest, its very unprofessionally handled that issues like this aren’t done in a more positive way. Between this new bug and the previous DR bug with dungeons I’m missing a total of 250 deadly blossoms.
I’m pretty sure Anet doesn’t want guardian to have a viable weapon.
That is probably the best idea I’ve heard so far about hammer. Doesn’t change the gameplay too much but make it a bit easier to use under circumstances were you might get knocked down.
Not everyone wants to play a support guardian in WvW. If you are saying that is the only valid option then the OP complaint is indeed correct.
Dervish please!
I’d love to see something like this implemented, at least give the player a option to do this if they wanted.
I’ve already explored the map once, don’t want to do it again. But I don’t think it would be fair to those who enjoy doing it on alts either. So it should definitely be a option.
Thanks Virtual,
I ran it and I seen no performance difference what so ever.
Amd FX 8150
start /AFFINITY 55 /B /WAIT d:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe
My GW2 folder isn’t in a sub folder. Its just in the main drive directory. It looks like this:
start /AFFINITY 55 /B /WAIT D :\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe
But every time I try to run that, I get this error: Windows cannot find “D:\Guild” Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.
I have no idea why it keeps doing that. And yea I’m running CMD as a admin.
I’ve had the patches installed since they were released. My GW2 is on drive D, so how do I run the cmd? Every time I try, I get a error even when I specify the path.
1) I stated how to fix the FX8000’s problem in my second post which you obviously did not read
“start /AFFINITY 55 /B /WAIT c:\path\to\gw2.exe”
2) The 1090t has 6 cores. The FX8000 has 4 with hyperthreading. Likewise, the FX4000 is really a dual-core CPU. I don’t care what the spec sheet says, I trust the technical data more.
3) I redid my comparison of 3.2 vs 4.8GHz. And it’s still a linear increase at 1024×768 because it was CPU-limited to begin with, even at 5760×1080.
Where do you run that command? Because I have no idea how to do it. lol
Virtual,
Yeah me too, I built a lot of AMD cpus. Athlon 64 was exceptional at the time.
Anyhow, Bulldozer performs quite well under Linux.

Moz,
Thats what I wrote in my post in this thread. But I don’t think many people bothered to read it. The fact is the FX 8150 is the same as the 1100t (in single threaded situations). And yea those cpu dependent game proves that fact. But in GW2, the 1100t is 30% faster. When I noticed this, I wrote AMD right away. When they responded with their last email to me stating that Ncsoft and AMD are working together to improve performance on FX cpus. I thought they were kidding me.
I’m glad Tom’s hardware confirmed what they said and I’m happy my voice was actually heard.
Many people say that the FX series are bad cpus. This is only true when you take into consideration intel cpus. But when you compare prices (motherboard included) AMD comes to be a lot cheaper.
I use software that is heavily multi threaded (I’m a illustrator), so the FX series really shines in that area. In terms of single threaded performance the FX 8150 trades with the 1100t depending on the program. In some games the 8150 was better in some slightly worse. But not 30%.
Realistically the FX-8150 should be pumping out around 70fps on average in gw2. You have to take into consideration turbo boost which is poor with the phenom series. I’ll be happy when the performance boosts hit. Glad I don’t have to go out and buy a new cpu just for gw2.
I want my GW2 females to be thin at the waist but thick at the ankles. Make it happen Anet.
I played GW1 since launch and I do feel its the superior game. But I try to compare GW1 vanilla at launch to GW2.
I remember when I first entered into pvp everyone said rangers were underpowered blah blah, but they turned out to be one of the strongest classes if played right. I have a lot of problems with GW2 pvp, one thing is something GW1 never did and that is: Lose complete control of your toon.
There was only knockdown which was easily countered with the right build, but there was no fear and stun. In GW1 you were punished for a well timed interrupt by your enemy. And that was acceptable, but in GW2 if you are interrupted all of your skills go on CD even the ones you weren’t even using. So that again leaves your character sitting there helpless.
In terms of game modes, GW vanilla only started out with several maps and two game mode. Which was death match and one that was based upon points (Not sure the name but it was a lava map). There was HoH but that was a different beast. Some things about GW2 feel better, the game feels a bit more dynamic but I also feel that the game is over all too bursty.
GW2 pvp balance feels like it relies too much on waiting for the developers to either buff skills or nerf them. Where GW1 felt more like waiting for players to come up with counter builds to other strong builds. I think if GW2 had more skills that were made to counter others then there would be less complaints about nerfs.
I feel everyone should hold their judgement on the game, because we don’t know what will become of it. GW1 evolved and so will GW2. Into what? No one knows for sure….
Seems like Dro should be playing GW1 instead of 2.
Last I checked, for a lot of people it is about winning. If it was purely about fun, why did you queues drop? The mechanics of WvW don’t change much if you’re winning or losing, and it’s generally enjoyable unless you’re pushed back to spawn.
This is probably the dumbest thing someone can ask me, I’ll leave you to your own devices and perhaps you can figure this elusive question out.
Mdmize,
Uh…..nice novel?
SBI wvw queues have been nearly instant all this week. It kind of means…..you know…that no one is really playing? WvW isn’t about real strategy its just about having huge numbers. If there are no numbers there won’t be much progress.
Simply put, after last weeks match. Waking up on monday morning to see all of their effort undone. Many SBI players found it rather pointless to keep doing WvW if their efforts were worthless in the end.
What you misunderstand is that its not about winning, before there were no complaints about what place you ranked in. It was purely about fun, its more about being competitive. And there is nothing competitive above going against a doors and npcs while real people sleep at night. And personally I do not blame them.
I hope Anet adds a smaller scale server pvp. Maybe similar the AB from GW1 but server vs server vs server. Or even something like the old JQ maps could work.
LOL you brought a workstation videocard for a game? If this guy isn’t trolling he is obviously very dense and unaware of the difference. Lmaooooo, hope you use 3d studio max or something.
The only thing I can think of is that they should of sorted servers by time zone. EST, PST,Central etc. And made those servers compete against one another. But at this point that is probably too late.
I don’t think its very strange or uncommon for people to get discouraged. Last round after HoD night time capping and most waking up to see the score 600/40/40. Its hard for them not to be discouraged. After that, I haven’t seen long queue times for WvW at all.
Technically, first place, second place and so forth does not matter. You really don’t get anything for holding those places except prestige, which I don’t consider very important since its just a game.
I think they should do better rewarding the top servers though, that could give some motivation to not go passive.
Yesterday on SBI I got into EB instantly during prime time. I thought perhaps it was a fluke and I got lucky. But then another friend did the same and another etc. I found it a bit strange.
During that period, someone in map chat were QQing about how most people aren’t queueing up until next week because they did not want to go up against HoD again. He felt it was lame to give up 2nd and 3rd place just to avoid nighttime capping.
Can’t say how much of that is true, obvious he can’t speak for all the many people who do WvW on SBI. But perhaps it had truth to it due to the queue times. Because last weekend at the same time it took around 2hrs to get into EB.
I wish they could show the current population in WvW so that it just wouldn’t be speculation or excuse making. But I guess that would be sort of cheap, since the enemy would know who to target due to them being out numbered or who not to fight since they know they will be outnumbered.
You don’t need a trinity in this game, if you feel you do then you are definitely doing dungeons wrong.
Well all of your complaints revolve around pickup groups. Organized groups or static groups don’t have those issues or shouldn’t after they learn the fights and understand their role in the group.
Dungeons take coordination or you will wipe. I’m not sure if this applies to you, but a lot of players enter into dungeons with the mindset that being a glass cannon who can pump out big numbers will make the dungeon easy. Those of players tend to die rather fast, then complain about the dungeons difficulty.
There are a few things that your group can do to make monsters hit for a lot less. Have one or two people keep weakness on the enemy and another run protection boon. That shaves of a lot of damage.
A combination of applying conditions, boons, when to use important cds or evade turns what appears to be a difficult dungeon into a cake walk.
Dungeons are fine, get a better group.
Run dungeons with people you know. I’d never pug anything in this game besides story mode dungeons.
Once you get team work down, dungeons are easy. Perhaps too easy lol.
Its not all of AMD’s cpus, its particularly the FX series.
This is a new GW2 CPU benchmark: http://gamegpu.ru/images/stories/Test_GPU/MMO/Guild%20Wars%202/gw%202%20proz%202.png
And as you can see, the fps numbers are fine for the phenom series. Not the FX series, the 8150 fx is around 30% (?) behind the Phenom 1100t. When in other CPU limited games they are about neck to neck.
This points to some sort of issue with the FX series cpus and GW2. I’ve actually taken the time to personally write AMD about the problem and believe it or not they responded back to me. Their last email was quite nice, here is what they had to say:
“Thank you for your enthusiasm regarding our products.
We’re sorry about the low benchmark scores you’re reporting for the game Guild Wars 2 and our processors.
We reported this to the developing team, and they will see if something can be done between both company to improve the use of our CPUs features in the future through updates.
We invite you to verify with NCsoft also regarding those benchmark results."
“We just wanted to inform you that the developers (Anet) of the game and AMD are working together to try to offer updates that will give better performances.
In order to update this service request, please respond, leaving the service request reference intact.
Best regards,
Michael
AMD Global Customer Care"
Hopefully something will be done, especially for FX series owners. There will be users here that will condemn the FX series for being a poor performer. This has some truth to it, in respect that the FX series is not a worthy upgrade over the Phenom series. However, its not 30% slower or more than the Phenom. It can be faster by a margin or slower by a margin in single threaded programs, but not by 30%+.
AMD FX 8150 vs AMD 1100t:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/434?vs=203
Ignore the synthetic benchmarks and just pay attention to WoW. WoW is cpu dependent and the two CPUs are neck to neck. GW2 numbers should look similar, however at this time they are not.

I don’t know if I can understand the analogy of war that Anet is using. Maybe I’m wrong but, I don’t think in the middle of a war one tells the enemy that they’ll be back in 12 hours because they need to go to sleep so that they can get up early in the morning for work or school.
In a real world, its the soldiers job. So of course they will have to be on their guard around the clock. So I don’t see how this applies to wvw unless Anet is telling everyone that in order to win wvw you have to give up your actual job and schooling to live in GW2.
It must be illogical to someone like you. Are you running in a pug? Tell your friends to stay around you. My god, how hard is that!? Is it easier to tell oh i dunno a group of 4 other people to stand directly in a small area in front of you OR is it easier to tell them to stand within that big glowing circle on the ground (while getting healed if you trait for it)?
I don’t dislike the shield, I’m just not dense enough to try to make it seem like its amazing! Hold the line is even better than shield of judgement hah.
So you can have prot on your friends every 30 seconds. I can perma keep prot up with the hammer chain. If you don’t have a enemy close to you and they use projectiles, use wall of reflection that way your friends take no damage! Who would of thought that! ?
(edited by Aza.2105)
I only complained because I got a grand total of 15 deadly blossoms these past two days while my group got 60 tokens for each run. And no I didn’t excessively farm the dungeon, I ran it once per day just like they did. But oddly I only got a 15 token reward.
So I’m now behind 90 tokens. I sent in a trouble ticket, but I received a automated response linking the dungeon changes from the patch notes. Which I already knew about.
I don’t expect to get served right away or having priority over others who sent in a ticket before me. All I ask is eventually I get my 90 missing tokens.
Luigi,
That still doesn’t seem practical. You won’t save anyone from death with protection boon and its harder to catch other players with Shield of Judgement than it is with the Hammer chain.
Reason? Most people tend to keep moving and the shield is a small frontal cone. There is ZERO reason to even consider the shield as option at this time. You shouldn’t be protecting it, you should be voicing to Anet to change it.
