This is exactly the problem. 5v5 conquest was made for organized tournament. Because the way its setup, you need all 5 players playing well. If even one person plays like a complete idiot then your chances of winning drops significantly. If there are two people playing like idiots then you will lose for sure.

There was a time when custom spvp had more than the 5 vs 5 player setup. And it was actually really fun! Then they removed it.

Do you think PVE’ers only make Legendary armor for the stat swappability? People make Legendary armor for the skin/particle effects primarily, the stat swapping and rune swapping is a cherry on top. Making it so strict Spvpers can just get the skins without having to raid defeats the purpose of having it be a prestigious reward for people who do hardcore group content. Good looking skins, you want it yes? Then go out and do what you need to do to get it if your really want it that badly, no one is stopping you yourself. Not all SPVPers only play Spvp you know, I know a fair bit who play every aspect of this game, but find the most enjoyment in pvp.

I don’t really agree. You have to look at it from a basic standpoint. Which is time investment. If Anet could make the time investment to earn legendary armor similar to raids then it wouldn’t be a problem. Remember, like any mmo this game is only a time sink. No matter what you are doing.

I copied my install from my other computer. I’ve attached my in game settings.

Something is wrong. I’m using the Ryzen 1800x and Fury x @ 2560 × 1080 with the fov bar maxed.

In that same situation I’m getting around 80fps+++. The 1600 performance shouldn’t be that far off and you are running at a much lower resolution. Something is definitely wrong. But I don’t know what it could be. Did you do a fresh install of windows?

Elite specializations killed pvp. Before that pvp was “ok”. Elites specs are too strong but they were never changed to be balanced with core traits and skills. You know there is a problem when nearly every class is REQUIRED to use their elite specs to be competitive. There is a huge difference between choice and required.

Its a video game.

Thief is the most polarized class in the game: Very strong but very squishy. Nerf their damage then they are useless, buff their defense then they are insanely op.

Pvp was destined to be bad when anet decided to make a spammy and closed end skill system. Why they decided to do away with the GW1 skill formula entirely is beyond me.

Seems on par with what I expect. 8 cores/16 threads doesn’t matter for a game that has arguably 2-ish CPU intensive threads. Improved IPS over Bulldozer is a huge plus.

Do you have reflections on? Everything else seems to be on high I just can’t tell.

The difference between the FX series and Ryzen is huge. In the pvp lobby I would get around 45fps in the center where everyone crowded. If I began to run towards the golem training area I could get 60fps (no higher) since not many players were being displayed. Note my FX was OCed to 4.6ghz always.

With the Ryzen 1800x, I get around 65-75+ fps in the crowded area and when I’m running towards the golems I get around 120fps.

PS: Running at 2560×1080 with fov maxed, the fov maxed reduces the fps by a ton. If I put it at default, the fps almost double.

The way to optimize AMD is to buy a Ryzen. There isn’t much hope for the FX series single threaded performance.

I remember playing LoTR eons ago (before it switched from subs) and it had integrated. It was especially useful when hooking up with PUGs to do story line events.
I know it would be some work for the developers but it would take the game up another level.

Yea I only bring it up because this season everyone will be grouped with pugs. I started to notice that I spent a great deal of typing to communicate when I could of been moving around. I think its sort of archaic that Anet hasn’t already implemented it. There are even voice commands in place, which could also be handy.

Wow has it, overwatch has it. What is the deal, being able to communicate with mics would be quite helpful when you are paired with randoms.

Learn to attack in between evades or defensive CDs and dodge burst instead of rolling your face on a keyboard. You know that good old pvp thing some people do.

Get this out of here! I would think after several years of pvp that many people would understand that you can’t “time” attacks to hit evades that are attached to attack skills, unless its super slow like blurred frenzy.

Then you can go oh I’ll wait until after its done casting to attack, but who CAN NOT do that? The real problem lies in evades that are extremely quick like vault. You can not time attacks to hit a recovering vault. If you hit them you got really lucky and its not a show of your personal skill.

For timing to be a legit way to counter evade frames, then most attacks would have to be instant in order to compete with evade spam. Most attacks have cast times and when you take into consideration latency it makes them even slower. I know I know, people will say “Anet don’t design balance around lag”. Well why create fast casting evade skills in the first place when they obviously can’t be skillfully countered with latency? I know, bad design.

I’ve said it from the beginning of GW2 launch, that the game was full of bad balance decisions. Decisions like allowing evades to go unchecked. What checks evade? Nothing but “Timing”. At least with block there are unblockable skills (though too few and not given to enough classes) and at least dodge has weakness to slow down vigor regeneration.

In order to have a sense of balance, everything has to have its opposite effect. What this does is make the player consider if its a good idea to use this skill or if they will get punished for it. Without a mechanic to keep another mechanic in check, what happens is you get spam. You get spam because the player knows that they will not be punished for their action, so they continue to do it again and again and again.

In addition to the above, HOTS made defensive mechanics over the top by giving classes access to so many defenses at once to were they can cycle through defenses until another defense is off cooldown. Once again bad design.

The game mode needs work, there is just too much micromanaging and pve elements.

You have killing multiple guards and door breakers, treb, summoning more pve heroes, grabbing crates to summon more door breakers and then finally killing the boss to win the mode or running the time out.

A lot of that needs to be gutted and streamlined.

Glad to hear you enjoy the new maps! We’re happy that the initial reception of Coliseum and Capricorn was positive, but we’re still evaluating some map changes to address point-to-point run times and routes. I think they’re great candidates for ranked in a future season.

Yea man, the new maps are pretty good. I really like how you guys try to add a unique aspect to each map. The artifacts for the coliseum are a great idea, it gives you a advantage if you get them but they aren’t so overwhelming that it becomes a necessity to win the match.

Spirit watch is unappreciated, its one of my favorite maps. Its well designed and I really appreciate the vertical design of the map. Ever since the changes to the orb and its spawn time it has been even better. I can’t understand why people hate the map at all, especially after the changes.

Ultimately all the maps are very good. I would love to see all of them in the rotation. Some times you just have to force it upon people because they simply will not accept anything other than the usual foefire or forest. Heck, I don’t even see Khylo played much anymore. Its sad.

The game pretty much feels the exact same as it did before the patch. Elite specs need a nerf and nothing will change until that is done.

That is the point, so we can all go by the xpac to compete. To counter hots elite specs you need the xpac2 elite specs.

After 4 years I’m convinced the devs do not understand the game at all. Things were better before the elite specs were introduced, classes had glaring weaknesses to balance their strengths….now most classes can do everything at once.

I’m sure the way they will fix it is by introducing a new elite spec lol.

I wanted to ask the community what your thoughts are on the secondary mechanic of Khylo: The Trebuchet.

The treb gives your team map wide big area damage and crowd control, at the expense of a single player controlling it. Each team gets their own treb near their base and is useable the entire duration of the match unless it is destroyed. If the treb is destroyed a player needs to run a repair kit from a designated area to the treb to repair it back to full health.

What do you like about it?
What do you think needs improving?

I think for the most part its fine. Except Mesmer being able to take the repair kit and portal back to the treb.

A FX cpu cannot be considered anymore as a high end PC. Even with that 8 core at 4.2GHz, the bottlenecking for a 970 SLI is real. Seriously, what the heck where you thinking when you swap the 6300 for a 8350…

About the source of the issues, Nvidia and SLI configurations have had a lot of issues with Gw2. Try disabling SLI and force the main gpu to work at x16 pcie speed. If you have a chipset outside 990FX each gpu is working at pcie 2.0 x8, which is a bottleneck for this game.
Also, delete Gw2 forlders in Local and Roaming from AppData in C:/User/Yourname.

GW2 engine is rather unoptimized, everyone knows that. I’m sure you do as well. The best thing to do is to get a intel cpu or at the very least wait for amd’s zen cpu.

We’ve been talking about personal score a bit. I’m personally of the opinion that it isn’t representative of a player’s effort in a given match, and it also can be incredibly misleading and potentially lead to bad gameplay habits (5-capping home).

If you were to redesign personal score, what would you do? Does it track different types of stats? Would you want your personal stats displayed to other players?

This is what I’ve been thinking for a long time. I think it should be done away with. Personal stats being displayed instead would be a great idea, I’m all for that. It would give a better picture of who is doing what and if they are doing it well.

There is no pay 2 win in gw2. Sorry.

Toughness use to be good, but not now. It doesn’t really make a difference. I’ve tried just to be curious.

With Dragon Hunter I ran knight amulet, signet of judgement with perfection inscriptions (12% dmg reduction), hunter’s fortification (10% dmg reduction with no conditions on you), scrapper rune, shield with honorable shield trait (250 toughness while using a shield) and retributive armor (250 toughness every time you block, it doesn’t stack).

So I had crazy physical damage reduction and guess what? I still melted like butter. Damage is so insanely high at this time that I can’t recommend investing in toughness. Its no longer worth it.

It used to function regardless of whether or not Virtue of Resolve was on cooldown. Then they made it so that VoR had to be up. Coincidentally, they also nerfed base virtue range at the time by 600 for some reason, making them go from mediocre to trash.

The op’s list of things that need to be nerfed is absurd. Clearly he has no idea the severity of those changes he/she wants. Think of it this way, look at the patch notes when they change skills. Usually little changes have enormous results good or bad. Example, guardian getting symbols on sword and scepter. These changes are small, but the result opened up a lot of new builds that people aren’t use to seeing. One thing I learned with GW2 is changes should be very minimal, because they always have a large impact.

Heal skill (purification)- initial heal = 2k heal, active heal = 6.5k heal , smiter’s boon = 2k heal. Total = 10.5k heal on a 24s CD
Utility skills: JI = 2k heal, CoP/smite condition = 2k heal
Elite skill: Renewed focus= 2k heal
Total possible heal- heal trap- 10.5k, utility skills- 4k, elite skill- 2k, 2x F2- 8k heal = 24.5k of healing

Nah all of this is fine. In fact everything was like that before hots. Heal trap isn’t that strong, I think signet of resolve can heal for a large chunk too. You just never see guardian use it because….signets kind of suck.

See your problem is you do not understand the design philosophy of guardian. They are meant to engage in combat and stay there. This has been specifically highlighted by anet numerous amounts of times. To stay there in the fight, they need sustain. If they can’t sustain themselves they are broken because they do not have the tools to move in and out of combat at will.

The only real problem is your approach to fighting guardian, I’d say you have tunnel vision….like many pvpers out there. Just because you are failing to kill a class, doesn’t automatically mean they are broken or overpowered. It usually means that you haven’t formed the skills to learn how to beat them. So stop calling out nerfs because “you” are losing.

Here is a small list of stuff that counters guardian:

1. Poison
2. Retaliation (probably would make the guardian kill themselves with all the aoe)
3. Range them, eliminating most of their damage since its all pbaoe.
4. Unblockable skills like signet of strength etc
5. Condi overload

Its not hard, its only hard when you do not want to change how you approach a situation.

Are you using an AMD card? If so, then its a amd issue. I have it as well and I’m sure everyone with a AMD card has it.

When using a 21:9 resolution, the characters at the selection screen are very large. So large that you can’t see a norns feet or top of the head.

These are all awful changes, I’m sorry but you don’t understand anything about class balance. DH is in a ok spot right now, other classes like Mesmer and Rev outshine them. All the complaining is a L2P issue. Hopefully Anet doesn’t give into absurd whining such as this.

Its kind of funny that a lot of people are complaining about DH. DH didn’t receive any buffs this patch, GUARDIAN however did. Traps are the same as they were last season, so is long bow, the only thing that changed is the heavy light trait. Which has nothing to do with damage.

Damage is the same as it was last season, complainers just need something to complain about since they need to justify why they aren’t winning.

It doesn’t matter how large your drive is. If you are on a 1tb drive, chances are you are using a mechanical drive. What matters is SPEED, mechanical hard drives are slow no matter how big they are. And yes, the game takes longer to load in populated areas, its always been that way. Its much better if gw2 is running off a solid state drive.

Ping isn’t frames per second….. if you have 6-12 fps then you need a new video card.

This isn’t a game bug, but its your hard drive that is too slow. Get kitten or at the very least try to defrag your mechanical drive. Even with kitten I get the invisible terrain while it loads map assets.

The biggest problem I have with matchmaker is putting premades against solo players. Its just not right and shouldn’t happen.

I hate it. I don’t need 15 seconds to decide if I want to join a party or not. Why is there even a NO selection when its greyed out until the timer is over?

Just don’t use ultra shadows, they are unoptimized and anet is never going to optimize graphics. You have a good pc, just lower your expectations when it comes to running the game efficiency. Because the game is anything but efficient.

Ah that’s a decent fix, but I can’t do it or it will disable freesync.

Everything is the same, except when the game loads it flickers back and forth to the desktop.

Yea I think its too big as well and has bad performance (frames per second). Other than that, the mechanics are good.

I don’t want any resign/surrender command in pvp unless you’re a full premade (as in 5v5). I don’t want people I don’t know to decide when to stop the game for me. I hate democracy and I don’t want to see that in PvP, also I’d like the voting system on the map to be removed, matchmaking is not tournament.

You probably should do careful research before you disagree with something. The resign feature did not work like that in gw1. It took the entire party to resign in order for it to take effect. So others can’t decide to end the match for you, you have to agree with them to do it.
