Imo warriors needs something to make them unique in terms of sustain. We have guardians who rely on blocks, we have revs who rely on evades and then we have facetank warriors..

Think about “facetank” cause we could add “new” mechanic to game designed just for warriors which could be absorption (similiar mechanic to deflect but working on all hits/dots) on specific weapon skills/class mechanic. Along with this new mechanic we could add traits that would provie futher benefits from it. That could potentially give warrior identify in this game and much needed sustain.

Im sorry but locking warriors into stances just to survive few seconds is terrible solution.

Well yes, stances being the only practical choice is terrible. I agree.

Originally Anet had a idea on why warriors are the way they are. Guardians for example had low health, medium damage, but high sustain, boon up time, boon spread to allies and access to block and aegis and oh slow run speed/mobility.

Warriors were suppose to make up for their lack of boons, aegis/block with a high base hp. That was suppose to be their balance. With the power creep, warriors having high hp means nothing really. A DH has way higher sustain and effective health than warriors have. This is a problem, because it shows that Anet’s original philosophy on warriors design is no longer working.

Fixing the problem will be tricky, because the wrong change can make warrior very overpowered. If you look at Anets balance record, it tends to be the small changes that end up being big problems.

In the last patch they gave thieves a lot of cool unlbockable stuff and some serious damage buffs. Warriors got ….maybe 50 hit points a tick added to their heal signet…

It was 20, in case anyone actually cares. Even that amount does make a big difference though.

You cant buff warrior. You need to redesing them. Their desing doesnt fit in this game. They will remain as either underpowered or overpowered as there is no way in between.
Look that warriors are fine in pve, they always been and where they struggle is pvp. Its due to the game mechanics this game offers to other classes while leaving warrior with nothing.

If you looked you could find this exact sentiment applied to every single class. Apparently, Ele’s need to be redesigned from the ground up, along with warriors, necro’s, mesmers, guardians, etc. I think not…

Warriors and ele are the only classes that need overhaul. Im sorry but guardian skills for example needs a few tweaks here and there to be decent. Now take a look at warrior axe skills and tell me they are fine and that they just need some number adjustment. Or physical utilities. Or maybe about the lack of sustain due to the fact they have no additional ways to sustain themself other than healing signet?

There is time for small adjustments and there is time for a overhaul.
As example guardian sword;

-remove projectiles from last aa strike
-allow guardians to move during zealot defense, lower cd to 12.

Voila, guard sword viable af.

Many of warriors skills and traits need to be made more practical. That in a nutshell is what is wrong with the class and of course the lack of sustain outside of healing signet and the defense trait line.

Replace defy pain with Defiance Stance Defense trait.

On the warrior forums. And i believe that’s all we need to become viable again. It will fix whatever sustain problem warriors are dealing with.

This would be a good change. However, it only makes warrior more dependent on the defense line for sustain. I think there need to be changes in place that makes the other trait lines equally attractive. I feel mitigation, sustain and respectable condi removal/resistance needs to some how be added to other trait lines.

Duo Q’ing gives you a much, much better shot… Three manning and you have a high chance. But if your solo Q’ing and being put in with morons there’s nothing you can do so when someone says they “Deserve” or don’t it’s a poor concept in a team-based game.

In fact duo q’ing means you get somewhat of an unfair advantage compared to solo q’rs.

Ppl really underestimate the impact single players can have on the outcome of a match. But sure …go ahead drown yourself in selfpitty and play the blamegame the rest of your life.

Hero pvp doesn’t work well in a team game. Its all about chemistry between players and each players ability to perform the job they are assigned. It doesn’t matter how great one single player is, if other players on the team aren’t holding their own and fulfilling their role then the team will have a difficult time.

Its more like a requirement than a choice. Unlike gw1 you can’t be competitive in pvp without the xpac. The core specializations pale in comparison to the elite ones introduced in hots. So much that you are always forced to take elite specs.

Hmm….but with those elite specializations, how’s the build diversity? Like if I see a ranger, will I more or less know what they’re playing?

Diversity is in a bad state, elite specializations killed it.

  • No, its dsnt make sense..
    You are comparing a signet with passive effects that fully revive a team mate when you activate it Vs a shout that ports a down allies, no instant rez.
    ( and theres counterplays for SnR)

This is mostly a L2p issue, watch where the druid is going, keep your cd’s up for CC and cleave.

I didn’t know that 180 healing was valuable. And I didn’t know players could move through walls.

P.S the two skills are perfectly comparable.

The game has never been balanced sadly, but its much worse than its ever been. I don’t think it can ever change due to gw2 being a pve game first, pvp game second. Remember gw1 was a pvp game first, pve game second.

Stuff that seems ok in pve never ever works in pvp. Which is why we are in the state we are in. The game could change if they balance the two modes separately, but looks like they don’t want to do it.

Aza, the Guardian/Dragonhunter damage mitigation capabilities are actually quite poor after the power creep. Tempests are a far superior bunker/support to any Guardian build at this point and even Scrappers/Heralds running Marauder are much more difficult to kill than a Bunker Guardian.

This is mainly due to the Guardian’s low health pool. It isn’t large enough to survive bursting after the power creep, when his skills are all on cool down. This is why Dragonhunters go down first in team fights and why people don’t play Guardian Bunkers anymore.

To become competitive again or even viable as a team support in comparison to a Druid or Tempest, it needs more vitality.

You are comparing a core spec to a elite spec. Of course the elite specs are currently better.

Why would Guardian/DH need their health increased? Are you out of your mind? They already have insane mitigation:

Shelter: 2s block 30sec cd
Shield of Courage: 5sec block (7secs when traited) 65cd traited
Renewed Focus
Which leads to another Shield of Courage
Then there is Wings of Resolve heal which can be done twice with renewed focus.

They also have high uptime of protection and aegis…

Why would they need more health again?

There is a trait that allows necros to do something similar. Also, comparing cast times is irrelevant since you still have to heal the person.

The res is too fast because it’s a dual res. The skill needs more counter play

You can easily kill the pet before the ranger tries to rez. There are plenty of class mechanics that are unique and strong. If the ranger is far enough off point in a group fight for anyone to notice them them you have a 2 man advantage somewhere. A mesmer could just as easily dropped a portal for the player that was going down so they could be safe.

Stop trying to justify the behavior of the skill. It needs nerfed.

Search and Rescue is a disgusting skill. Fight against three rangers, good luck downing any of them. Its almost impossible. How on earth did Anet think it was a good idea to create a skill that: Instantly teleports the downed player to the ranger and pet, has a 45 cd and has the pet and ranger rez at once? How?

Guardian signet of mercy has been around for ages and it pretty much does the same thing except it has a 4 sec cast time and a 180 cd. Between the insane cc and search and rescue. Downing a player is extremely challenging these days, when it shouldn’t be.

I have practiced watched videos and improved done all you have suggested since the season started but unfortunately cant carry whole teams and with MMR tanked I cannot show my improvement – and oh yes – it is a team game no matter how good an individual is!

This is correct. I’m not sure how the system can measure your performance if your team is completely random each time. Usually never the same person twice. If you play well and others do not, how is that your fault? You can only do so much. You are only 1/5th of the team.

LOL. 10 sec is an eternity in pvp. If you can’t down someone in the 10 sec they are in moa form…no problem you get to moa again immediately after.

Yea I dunno what this guy is thinking. 10 secs not too long? What? It takes like a couple of seconds to full to zero a player lol. Moa needs a big nerf or to be changed significantly. locking out a player from their skills is a big no no in pvp. Especially for that duration.

probably you dont know map locations where you can LOS and kite for 10 sec while taking almost no dmg. and if he moa you again – GOOD he used 3 min skill

sure if are being focus by 3 ppl you will get killed moa and without moa 80% of the time. and again LOS and kite.

Then you do not understand my post. Whether you can kite or los is irrelevant. No skill should exist in pvp that makes the user lose access to his/her skills. This is bad design, only poorly designed mmorpgs that have pvp as a side show have these type of skills. GW1 definitely didn’t have them.

Anet thought that warrior would be able to sustain itself with its ""high base health". They thought wrong. Access to long duration blocks, invulnerability, stealth and protection is better than any amount of health that you can have.

Even with 28k health a warrior feels significantly more squishy than a DH with 10k health.

The worst change in history. Zerker stance is a LOT worse than it was before. It doesn’t matter if you are immune to condition damage while resistance is up. That is not the problem. The problem is duration. If a condition lasts a long time, it might be present after the immunity has ended. Before the change, you were immune to incoming conditions so that wouldn’t happen.

At worse, you might have to deal with condi that was applied to you before hand. If a necro transfers condis, then you were immune. Its much worse now, necro can transfer conditions and you might not take damage initially but if the duration is long enough you will afterwards.

The change makes no sense really. I don’t think anyone was complaining about how strong warrior was.

GW2 engine is horribly optimized. Its strictly cpu limited for the most part. Not only that, but the engine multithreaded and its dx9.

Skill #5: In addition to what it already does, maybe it could become a ice field and apply chill per sec as long as the enemy stands in it.

It isn’t necessarily bad design. Weapons are designed to be different, and not every weapon needs to have skills 1-5 be applicable in all situations.

I can respect your perspective but I don’t agree. The reason why skills 3, 4 and 5 are rarely used is because they are situational (in pve). The biggest problem is that those skills don’t do much to mobs, particularly bosses.

There aren’t many situations where you want to immobilize a mob for 2secs. There usually aren’t too many situations where you want to knock the mob backwards and there aren’t many times were you want to prevent the mob from running. That type of stuff doesn’t exist in pve really.

Which is the problem.

So any base player not upgrading to HoT can’t even use the Elite lines, let alone try out the new pets on a ranger. I am sorry but that is complete an utter Kittens.

Players who NEVER played Guild wars 1 have been fully able to use the HoM pets. So why is it any different now ? I know a few people who wanted to try out the Elites in PVP before shelling out money for HoT and now they can’t. Anet seriously has gated the original core game for players.

Guild Wars 1 was the same way. Deal with it, its fine as it is. If you want the skills, buy the game.

Its a bug, the heal is actually 3.8k. But if you choose the trait absolute resolution, the tooltip reads 1.6k even though its still a 3.8k heal.

Spirit Weapons… used to be invulnerable… and used to do about twice their current damage and had a normal auto attack speed that we use on our auto’s.

Yea but you forget, spirt weapons would could cause burning too with a trait. But it was useless since burning didn’t stack. They probably do more damage than they once did if you have a condi build.

Mace is superior to sword now for PvE content. Sword is just too much of a burden to use against enemies you won’t need the teleport for.

Deflecting shot feels impractical, there are too many steps to get a reward.

A. You have to manually aim a narrow line to hit the target.

B. To get max damage you have to aim it at incoming projectiles.

It sounds good in theory but to me its just inconvenient.

Maybe if step A was changed to be auto target, the skill would feel better. I think having both A and B are too much.

Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?

For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.

We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.

You guys could add more mechanics that force players to split up and multi task to defeat him. Imo, the main problem that makes it so easy now that there is little reason to leave his foot area.
