I completely agree with you. We have to carry multiple instances of these items on each toon we bring along. Clogs up space and is getting repetitive.

um, you can just throw them away…

Although you can just throw them away, I know many players (myself included) who don’t like to throw away collection items until the collection is completed. Perhaps a separate wallet or bag that only holds items like this so regular bag and bank slots are cluttered?

So I finally completed the Mistward Armor set (yay), but now my bank is cluttered up with all the components (12 linings and parts, plus another 6 mistward insignias)….

I have the armor, do I have to keep all the parts that went into it? Do people vendor them?

Obtaining Gift of Battle

But having to run around in a blob with 40 other people for 6 hours is just mind-numbing.

You don’t have to run with a blob. You can do stuff on your own or run around with a small group of people. Who knows, maybe you’ll even have fun doing that.

I’ve PvP’d in other games and I’ve always been on the fence about it….and my GF absolutely loathes PvP… (and I do mean loathe) but we both wanted the Gift of Battle so we went in with our rangers (also hoping to find the wolf you can only get in WvW).

To our surprise….we did have fun. Those that don’t like PvP shouldn’t judge WvW until you’ve tried it. Yes, there a parts that are like other PvP, but the “feel” of it is very different here. First off, a huge plus is that all your opponents are not named…. they are just “Server Name Squire” or “Server Name Soldier”, and that’s how you appear to them as well… so you avoid the griefing I’ve seen in other PvP. Also, you can take it at your own pace….. join a blob….go off with a small group…. hunt down npcs…. take in a vista or do a hero point challenge. All in all, it’s a much more enjoyable experience than either of us expected, and now that both of us have gotten our “Gift of Battle”, we’ve actually stayed in WvW from time to time to explore other reward tracks

Great Storytelling, Anet

I have about fourteen characters and I’ve only run the entire first story through about half of them, but each time I’ve truly enjoyed the story, and seeing the different variants by trying different choices each time. Living World 2 and HoT were also truly enjoyable, though I’ve run through them only once each (with my main)….and I’m happy to say that I’m already enjoying the first chapter of Living World 3 and can’t wait to see chapter 2. Exceptional storytelling, ANet, though I’d love to see more fully animated cinematic cut scenes, like we had in HoT.

Just did the story and I didn’t get a seriously negative vibe from her at all. I honestly felt that her “I’m a shadow” was just part of what she is…..her class has always been the “Thief”. In battle she pops in and out of shadows all the time like all her class does.

Yes, she’s shaken, she’s had a huge blow to her psyche and the group she fought so hard to rekindle is gone, but I think she’ll be in a decent part of this story.

It may be frustrating when someone undercuts you by a coin, but that’s basic economics and it exists in games the same way it does in the real world (just watch how eBay works to see the same thing play out).

AzureWolf.9150

MMORPGs run on big active servers, and I’ve played in enough of them over the years to know that something bad requiring a rollback is inevitable, and I’ve seen them in many games. But what I’ve never seen before was the amazing way ANet kept us in the loop. Not just here on the Forums, but in Facebook as well, they kept us out of the dark and gave us regular updates. Most other games would have happily stayed silent until the problem was fixed, and then dealt with all the questions. So kudos to ANet for keeping a bad situation from getting worse by keeping us in the know.

Server relinking occurs on friday … hopefully it helps a few of the ‘very’ uneven matchups/servers

I’m hoping as well. I’m relatively new to WvW, but I’ve enjoyed it a lot despite being on the shorter end of a mis-match. Gates of Madness is currently linked with Sorrow’s Furnace, but I see in the beta list of the new linkings we’ll now be linked with Sea of Sorrows. I hoping it’s a good match up and that we’re put against a fair mixture.

http://dulfy.net/2016/04/22/gw2-wvw-world-linking-beta/

That list was from the first links, 4 months ago. There is no list for the next links and we’ll only know when the matchup start.

Hmmm, I guess we’ll see this Friday then

Linking will be fine if they monitor it closely and make periodic adjustments so that evenly matched teams are facing each other, which is pretty much what they have promised will start with Friday’s re-linking.

Where did they say they will make periodic adjustments starting with this Friday’s re-linking? I don’t think Anet said that. I think some posters said that’s what they should do but Anet didn’t say it.

Anet wanted re-linkings every 3 months, longer than now, because it takes a lot of work to re-link. (Probably one reason why they went with 2-months instead of 1-month which got the most votes.)

Possibly I’m misreading this, but it seems that your tier will now dynamically change with each match up, moving you to the appropriate tier.

I’ve only been WvWing for a bit now (inspired by the change to “Gift of Battle” like others), but I’ve enjoyed it much more than I thought I would, despite being on the short end of a mis-matched grouping (I’m on Gates of Madness so I’m in the Sorrow’s Furnace group against Darkhaven and Yak’s Bend…. and enough others have posted that I don’t need to tell you how that mach up has been working ).

Regardless of this mis-match, when Sorrow’s Furnace gets enough peeps on and some good commanders (which I’ve already seen a few of), it becomes a lot of fun. But it’s rare we get the population needed to hold our own and I’m really looking forward to the new linking on Friday.

As others have said, when three evenly matched teams face each other in WvW….now that is where the fun really is.

There are many great head pieces for sale in the Gem Store…..from glowing eyes to wizard’s hats….. What I’d gladly pay gems for is the ability to combine these head pieces with other outfits. Example, combining glowing eyes with the witch outfit? Awesome. Allowing a Necromancer to keep his/her special class mask while wearing the Count outfit….also awesome. The outfits are great…..the head pieces are great….let us combine them please I have gems waiting to be spent this way!

Same happening to our small guild on “Gates of Madness Server”. Our guild chat works fine and we do not yet have a guild hall, but every so often it tells us we can’t connect to the guild server. May or may not be relevant, but last time I noticed it was after we did a Guild PvE bounty mission.

HoT Mordy fight - There is no exit

AzureWolf.9150

Hopefully this is something they can address in a future patch, giving players in a group a chance to recover in those fights or get back into it somehow after you die to help your teammates again.

Some “checkpoints” would also be great, so if you are solo you don’t have to start all over again if you fail.

The worst thing is that you loose all your participation % for the map if you choose to switch maps. If you stay you will get ported out in 1 hour. Happend to me a few times in DS in front of Modremoth…..

Yeah, I normally don’t mind changing maps when the population gets low. But nothing is worse when you have a great participation level and then get ported to a new map and are back to zero %. I wonder if they could fix that?

AzureWolf.9150

One thing I noticed in the Mordy fight (which I agree is long and could use a break half way through) is that if you are in a group and someone dies fighting Mordy (or his shadow), there is no chance to revive them. They get teleported to a “staging area” and have to watch the remainder of the fight with no chance to get back in to help the group (unless everyone dies).

Not Enough Tyria Mastery Points Sources

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Living World Season 2 helps a lot with Tyrian Mastery points, but I wouldn’t mind them adding in some “stationary” Red Mastery points you can find, like the Green ones in HoT.

Suggestion: Mounts [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AzureWolf.9150

AzureWolf.9150

Gliding in Tyria is great because it gives you an edge but it’s not overpowered. As previous posters said, it’s not flying, it’s “falling with style”.

Flying, on the other hand, would break many parts of the game. Just look at the “back peddling” Blizzard had to do when they realized flying broke WoW.

Between speed boosts, gliding and a multitude of waypoints, I think we’re fine without mounts or flying here.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AzureWolf.9150

AzureWolf.9150

I think the Tengu would be a fun race to play (I’d definitely play one). And while I agree with others that Dwarves rule as a fun race, it’s already written into the lore here that they are all but gone (with the last few turning to stone). Bringing Dwarves back would undermine the great sacrifice they made.

Special Opportunity: Playtesting on Friday, November 13

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AzureWolf.9150

AzureWolf.9150

Speculating:

They’re testing some new content guide features, possibly a less obtuse way to clue players in to collections and to track them better. As important as collections are for a lot of things now, being a new players that doesn’t really care about traditional achievement systems you could easily miss them. I have a guildmate that I had to point out collections to who replied “there’s actually more content to this than I thought. neat.”

He had no idea collections existed, or that the sometimes very unique items they granted even existed.

They may also be testing some enhanced tutorial features. Players to this day still fail to understand the basic leveling method of the game, ignore events, grand mobs, and then wonder why their leveling speed sucks.

Since they are looking for “new” players with limited GW2 experience, I think your last guess is a good one. I remember when I first started playing GW2, if my GF hadn’t led me by the nose I’d have gotten confused quickly, and now we have a new friend who just started playing and we’re helping him get his bearing. We’re all old time MMORPG players, but there are a lot of new (and refreshing) ways GW2 is played that aren’t as intuitive as some of the “more mundane” MMORPGs out there. I love GW2, but there is a definite learning curve when coming from other MMORPGs out there (or perhaps it’s having to “unlearn” all the bad habits other MMORPGs teach you ~smile~).

64-Bit Client and "A Light in the Darkness"

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

AzureWolf.9150

My GF ran into a different problem with the 64 bit client, but I figured since this is in Beta still you’d want to know any issues. We downloaded the 64 Bit Client and she put it in her existing game folder (going by the instructions, same as I did). But when she then tried to launch the 64 Bit client it only gave her “connection errors”. Rebooting didn’t stop that, but when she went back to the 32 Bit client it launched fine. She and I have the same Dell Alienware X51 (R2) desktop running Windows 10 (64bit) but I didn’t have that problem. The only real difference is I’m in the United States and she’s across the pond in the Faroe Islands, so I’m not sure if her location could be effecting her connection.

It does seem to be very “hit or miss”. I haven’t seen the OOM crash myself (playing on an MSI i7 gaming laptop (64 Bit)), but my girlfriend is seeing it constantly since HoT came out (playing on an Alienware i7 desktop, also 64 Bit)… both our systems have 12 GB of RAM, both are running high end nVidia cards, both are running Windows 10. I do hope this is something they find a cure for soon. This never happened before the expansion.
