Well, I meant, ArenaNet has sort of hinted at just straight up patching the recipes to have fewer reqs. That would be easier :P

Oh, but they already did! I laughed hard when I saw it, but they technically did lower requirements.

A non-raging civil question about Precursors

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ballistic.4531

Ballistic.4531

Precursor Weapons can be acquired from some sources:

- Dragon Chests after killing them (The Shatterer, Claw of Jormag and Tequatl the Sunless);
- Capturing the Temples in Orr;
- Completing rewards from maps [x to 80];
- Explorer Dungeon Reward Chests;
- Mystic Forge (4 weapons of the same type lv75 or more).

These days I’ve seen an increase of Precursors from these sources. I recommend that you make them everyday to increase your chances.

Acquired is the wrong word here IMO. More suitable would be RNGed. I must have had a really bad luck because the only time i got something other than blue from a chest was during Lost Shores event.

Also I have yet to see ANY exotic reward for map completion below last 3 zones.

Your luck must be kitten
Acquired depending on luck as in every other chest. I though it was implied…

The [70-80], [75-80] and [80-80] zones can give Exotic rewards. More than one also. It’s a matter of luck tbh.

RNGs just don’t love me.

If I’m not mistaken the points (and thus the upgrades too) are tied to a certain server. Meaning on your original server you still have everything you had before you transferred. If you transfer back everything should be there.

And as an elementalist, I have to get 500 arah tokens. However, I haven’t been on a run that either didn’t fail completely, or take 2-4 hours.

I’m trying to make The Bifrost too and started farming Arah for the tokens. I thought, with what I heard from other players, that Arah farming for tokens will be extremely hard, painful, excruciating and nearly impossible.
I was so pleasantly surprised when I did my first Arah group yesterday.
Arah is the most fun dungeon I ever ran. Ever. It’s pure fun. I farmed almost 300 tokens in two days and all having fun. I keep running it for those 20 tokens because it’s fun. The groups do take a bit longer than other dungeons but not really 3 hours. Takes me 45 mins to an hour per full run (no exploits used but running through trash mobs). And if you use gw2lfg.com there is always some Arah groups.

The only problem with Arah is that I was somewhat disappointed that final bosses feel like they need some more love, compared to Lupi.

Confusion is a false choice

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ballistic.4531

Ballistic.4531

Its worse than the red circle I’m talking about. There are several obvious counter play options to an ability that has CC and high damage as I listed, when the troll attacks you see a red circle and you see him jump. When you see confusion, its virtually instant and the enemy doesn’t really jump around or chat whoguh whoguh wallawalla bingbang before they cast it on you. Also your counters aren’t counters. Kill them with superior spike is only for some characters and interrupting like I said is very very very very hard to do when the cast time is short.

It’s the same with all conditions basically. You don’t see other players jump around or shout whoguh whoguh wallawalla bingbang before they cast any condition on you. It’s no different. They can stack 25 bleeds on you if you’re not paying attention.
I’m not sure how you would combat bleed or burning or any other condition without clearing them (imagine 25 stacks in a second). I know you said you don’t PvP (WvW) but the argument you gave goes for players jumping around like cave troll.
So I really don’t see the problem with confusion unless there is a problem with all conditions if you don’t want to use a cleansing skill.

It is what is happening all over society thanks to instant communication we have today. Everyone has an opinion and everyone thinks they are entitled to have that opinion , regardless how crazy it sounds. If you tell yourself something enough you will start to believe you are right.

One person comes up with a crazy idea, others say, Hey! YA I feel dissatisfied to. Lets go protest on the forums. Then 100 pages later they finally get there way. Then the viscous cycle of mass madness continues.

It is rather sad that this topic has gained so much attention. All it does is so others that they too can get there way by QQ till it happens.

It’s a hat let it go! 100 years ago the worry of the day would be where is our next meal coming from. Now it’s about a virtual hat.

In my opinion, MF gear is there for trash. When you’re running around Orr node farming or during easy trash in dungeons. However, when grouped with other players for dungeons, use your real gear. Don’t make the group suffer because you want a better drop. The effectiveness of a whole team with full MF gear vs real decked out gear can make the difference between a wipe and a win or a really long drawn out win vs a quick win that gives u more time for another dungeon run.

they should make it so that MF is shared amongst everyone in the party.

Or just remove this stat completely. I honestly don’t see a point in this stat. I mean I don’t see the point why would the devs introduce this stat in the first place. I get why players equip it, though.

Gem store items in Dungeon chests

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Ballistic.4531

I don’t think they should add anything at all to spvp, as of now its a waste of time.

Again, just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean others do to. I for one do a little of sPvP every time I log in. It’s fun for me. So why would I be handicapped just because I like something you don’t or dislike something you like?

“Because you would be forcing them to play the content they don’t like to get the same stuff you are getting by playing the content you like” isn’t this already present since day one with dungeons? not like they can get dungeon equipments elsewhere.

They can always craft exotics, buy cultural items, run non-dungeon PvE, they can also buy exotic items with www badges… So there are always non-dungeon ways to get latest gear. Well it was, untill the introduction of ascended items (which has been confirmed at the AMA that this was a mistake and that they will introduce other ways of getting these items).
Why do you want to force someone into doing something they don’t like? How about you running sPvP (grinding it!) to get ascended items that can be used in FotM dungeon? That would be fun, ha?

If a person is missing on the hardest and most challenging aspect of pve (dungeons) of course he/she will be missing on stuff..

Again, not true in the pre-ascended era. And again, they said they would introduce other ways to get these items. Well, technically true for items that you can buy exclusively with dungeon tokens, but you are also missing on items that can be bough with www tokens, so…

i don’t know what a none casual could do in gw2 if not running dungeons anyway. Some wvw? sure but what else? there’s nothing to do other than stand in LA afk all day.

That’s how you see it. You can always run www, sPvP, DE, non-dungeon PvE… Heck if you like it, go do jumping puzzles all day. I don’t care how you are spending your time, but you shouldn’t have more privileges just because you’re running dungeons over people who don’t.

And just as an FYI, I do run dungeons and www and sPvP. I find them all enjoyable and fun.

those who don’t run dungeons are not getting many things (ascended items/armors for example) so why would it be unfair?

So many wrong things in this one sentence.

Okay don’t, who cares, go buy fine transmute stones of off TP for 3g. I do dungeons and i want more than green/blue crap (not talking about fotm here tho but the old dungeons). MK was in my opinion the only dungeon with great reward the game "had. There was no tokens, none of this useless crap (just like gw1). You played it for fun, money, useful items like those of gem store, halloween skins and bunch of exotics which you could mystic toilet (which i did for the most part) or salvage for ectos.

Because you would be forcing them to play the content they don’t like to get the same stuff you are getting by playing the content you like. What makes you better than those people or more entitled?
How about this, let’s add Gem Store items to sPvP and www only. That way people who run dungeons get ascended items, and those who are into PvP get Gem Store items.
Why do I have a strange feeling you don’t like this proposition?

If you dont get it, he means let all the party members die. And yes it is workaround if it is working around.

Apparently you don’t get it. My entire party has to die to temp fix the bug they introduced when they fixed another bug?
And yes, technically it is a workaround but a very, very, very (and I can’t stress this enough) very lousy one. I shouldn’t have to die (nor my entire party for that matter) to be able to finish one boss that they’ve “fixed”. The workaround would be “… don’t attack the minions before the boss takes the hammer from you” (and this has been said to be the cause) not “die. all of you. just die (canned laughter)” to be able to normally play.

As an FYI for you Martin and whatever you thought you were doing in your own mind, every post in these forums is a personal opinion. You were totally in the wrong for singling this person out because you could, not because you should have.

You are a fine example of spite Martin, this isnt a call out, you were wrong, plain and simple and you need to make a retraction and apologize to the OP, regardless of what you think Martin. You need to know your role as a moderator and not the spiteful employee, or you will be spending the next ten years adding “personal opinion” to every post title on this gaming site.

In my 3 decades as an NCO and a professional i have never seen anyone like you blatantly do something like this and then try to substantiate it. I have already sent a copy to your corporate before you “delete this because you can”.

You moderators need to know your roles and re-read your own TOS. Without negative feedback a business becomes complacent, many businesses leave negative feedback for learning purpose, they do not modify it to suit there own needs or attack an individual as you did.

Question for those that 'grind' gold

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ballistic.4531

~500hrs since launch but im regularly bumming around in LA and chatting with guildies. Also have my own Youtube channel so a lot of time went towards recording Vistas, jumping puzzles, personal story and the in game events.

If my math is correct that’s at least 5,5 hours per day every day in the last 3 months?

Pretty much although its more one day off, one day on as I hang out with friends and do other things. Video processing….. bain of my life atm and im doing it for just over 40 subscribers lol. Oh well….

5.5hours is a fair bit but its not a huge amount. Half my gold, equipment and extras and then factor in half my achievements (such as 100% map completion), half the time I spend recording ect and youve got a 1-2hour a day player (or as some would like to see it the average GW2 gamer). Its still quite easy to acquire gold just by having fun.

Oh and FYI I do run Fractals and make a decent amount of gold from it. Only up to level 20 with a regular group so not exactly grinding that either and im getting maybe 50-75s per run and progressing towards ascended gear.

I wasn’t criticizing. To be honest, I’m a bit jealous. I wish I would have that much time to play GW2.
One fractal run, makes me 1-2g per run. Just by mob drops and NPCing blue and green items. All my rare/exo drops are salvaged for ectos. My first lvl 10 run yielded in an ascended ring. So for me, running fractals is the fastest way to make money.
But it’s boring to run it all the time, so www and spvp ftw!
Besides, what do I need the money for, anyway. Not like I’m going after the legendary any time soon. All I need are “just” 250 ectos for infused ascended quiver. But no need to rush it. I’ll get there. Eventually.

I agree with your point. I’m uncomfortable with the idea of everyone easily being able to get the best thing out there. It defeats the purpose of wanting and working to obtain specific items.

This is, imo, a terrible attitude to have. The only way that you as an epic grinder can enjoy your shiny is if the rest of the plebs in the game have virtually no chance of obtaining said shiny? (Not specifically directed at only you but to those who hold with your quoted statement.)

If you find yourself unable to be happy because your neighbor has the same car as you… well I’m not sure I can help you.

Yes. I would feel less happy if my neighbour or everone else would have the same car, Bentley for instance. This care is so awesome because only small portion of people have them. I wouldnt care about this care if everyone would have it.

Why you think that rich people are buying expensive cloths, cars, houses, etc? They are doing it because they can and they want to prove everything they have money for it.

After I buy my cultral tier 3 armor, craft my legendary .. I want everybody know that I worked kitten hard for it, when they see it they should know how dedicated player I am.

You think I would go for cultural tier 3 or craft my legendary if everyone would have it? kitten no .. why would I … I would go for the most rare weapon that no one else has.

Proving your worth through a game? Sorry to say but that just sounds sad to me.
Why do you want to proove yourself to others with a few pixels? I honestly don’t get it. I couldn’t care less if my neighbour has a bently. Why do I care about the stuff he does or doesn’t have. Makes no sense. How does him having a bently affect me or my way of living? I guess it’s a phylosophical question but I see no reason why would I peek through a spy-hole at the door to see what my neighbour is carrying in his bags.

I agree with your point. I’m uncomfortable with the idea of everyone easily being able to get the best thing out there. It defeats the purpose of wanting and working to obtain specific items.

why would i want to work in the game? I just want to play the game and get rewarded while playing the game. meaning and i want to enjoy the game and get happier when i get the reward.

Not working for it coz working gives me a picture of like killing 10000 mobs and getting 2 vials of powerful blood. so i have to like kill 10000 mobs 125 times to get 250 powerful bloods more. next task, killing 20000 mobs to get 5 ectos. etc etc.

You want simply to enjoy the game but your talking about legendary like if it was the only enjoyable thing, there are another weapons and things to do which requires almost no effort.

Legendary weapons are for the most dedicated players, so they have things to work for. How can you dont understand this?

IF you are playing Guild Wars 2 only to craft Legendary and thats all I dont think anyone can help you on this one. This is not what Arenanet wants

Legendary weapons are not for those who simply wants to ‘’enjoy the game’’ they are for serious gamers. My girlfriend is one of these enjoying the game, she dont even have full exotic gear and she dont even care about legendary because she know thats for the most dedicated and serious players.

I believe he was talking about ascended items, not legendary. 300+ ectos and 250 t6 mats, 6 mist vials (only optainable in fotm), gift of ascension (again, only through fotm)…

To be honest before this AMA I was very concerned with GW2’s general direction but a lot of questions which needed answers got them. There was no silly PR cover up al la BioWare, there was no arrogance. there the “hey guys, this didn’t turn out exactly as we envisioned it. We’re working on fixing it.”

Some people might not find that reassuring but I do, it was down to earth and it was communication which was needed.

I feel the same way. It was PR-covered (Ofc it has to be for damage control) but it was straightforward. Chris’s answers calmed me down, a lot. Especially his repeated saying “not what we intended”, “was a mistake” and him apologizing. Personally, I feel like his answers were straightforward, down to earth and not trying to insult anyone’s intelligence. I think he couldn’t have given better answers than what he did.

AMA on Reddit [merged threads]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ballistic.4531

Yep, no new tiers… they’ll just deploy rares with exotic stats, exotics with ascendant ones, and ascendants with even bigger ones.

This is exactly what I’m worried about too. You don’t need to call it a new tier but it’s the same thing. Better stats are better stats – call it ascended 2 tier or ascended tier but with better stats than previously released ascended gear. Core of the idea is to calm the vocal anti-treadmill players by masking the treadmill under the same tier (tier-name).
That being said, the PR-answers Chris gave us actually did calm me down. A lot. He admited that they made several mistakes with this patch. And he actually admited it several times and appologized for it. Which is far more than I expected from this AMA.
I might get back into the game now, but will still hold on to gem purchases and will know what to expect in the future.

man… if i let every little thing that MIGHT happen worry me my life would suck and there would never be any enjoyment in it.

Chris actually said himself that this WILL happen.

No..he said they werent against it and he wasnt going to promise that it would not. Anything else is inference.

Actually nope. You are plain wrong. In his answer to E2 question he sais:
“That is why there is no plan for new Rarity Tiers of loot but there are plans to enhance or gain items within the existing rarity design whose properties continue on a shallow power curve.”

Since..said items would be a power curve anyway if introduced as a full set, he still isnt saying they will have another tier or more powerful items. If he said there was “no” power curve for the sets in the future, people would crucify him when a chest plate had better stats. Its awfully PC, but he isnt really saying anything other than new stuff is coming out within the tiers already present.

But isn’t he saying that new, better stuff is coming out within the same tier. Because he said there will be no new tiers for forseable future, so the only way I see it is that you will get new, better gear within the same tier (speculation: through better infusions?). Because I don’t see how you equate power curve to an already existing tier (granted not entire set is in yet, but he was talking about new gears in the future).

How many here are playing less? And why?

1. Still come to the forums in the hope we see a non-ambiguous statement from ANet.
2. Started playing less after the announcement of Ascended
3. Lack of motivation due to the introduction of the gear treadmill

My thoughts exactly! Word for word.

Oh and FYI, I stopped playing this game over a week ago, because of Anet catering to people like you and breaking their own promises, marketing and Manifesto.

Then….why are you still here?

Do you have nothing better to do with your time? Seriously, it’s like you broke up with your girlfriend and are waiting by the phone for her to call just so you can shout mean-spirited hate at her if she does try to call and apologize. Get up, go outside, maybe have a life or something. There are other girls out there.

I’m not trying to be nasty. I’m dead serious. If you’ve already moved on, then there is no reason for you to be here. Go find something productive to do with your time. I wish you the absolute best. But please leave this forum to those who still play the game and want to see it get better. It’s not here just so you can whine about how you’ve already quit and will never come back.

Two reasons:
First, forums are more fun than the game itself.
Second, I’m still hopping Anet would amend all of this crap that is going on.
Oh and I’m on the forums in my Dishonored breaks.

To you: it doesn’t matter if you are, in fact, a very tiny microscopic base of player type and when this game goes bankrupt or… instead opts to add items like I suggest to save the populations for this game… but don’t worry there actually are people who are rabid about anything out there too. You name it. Religion. Environment. Anything. There’s the far far right side and the far far left side.

Actually GW1 didn’t go bankrupt. So why would GW2 go with the same community?

I guess it’s a matter of opinion on if the company wants to actually make money here or just happily lay low… never really making a mark in the “MMO” (it is what it was advertised as) industry.

Funny I got the 2 most hardcore forum lifers in my feedback thread. I wonder how good a game it must be if you guys are here forum-defending it instead of actually playing it.

On that note: I’m done responding to you both. It’s crystal clear what side of the line you guys are both on and that you would be unwilling to budge an iota on any single item. So you both aren’t even close to whom I was trying to voice my opinions to. In fact: the opposite of you is who I was trying to reach out to. Someone within the company who might think more central instead of waco-style… someone who might still be open to pushing for (at the very minimum) a dungeon finder for those who like to PVE. Hell… even just that might entice me back for awhile.

Nice. Well I can start name calling too. Anyway, I like how you deflect arguments for the discussion you started. You started a thread on the forums for the sake of discussing it, not going down one-way thinking street. But then again, it’s your right to censor. Same as Anet.

I agree. It’s amazing how effective the words ’I’m sorry’ can be to mend a disagreement or issue when given genuinely. From my own observations, I’m glad that Anet are trying some different approaches and being creative with their events, gear etc – but it can be risky. The major problem is that in some cases the concerns of the most important stakeholder – the player/customer are not fully considered. Mind you, it doesn’t help when there are such polar opposites in player opinion on almost all the current issues – Anet are somewhat stuck between a rock and a hard place….

They are stuck between a rock and a hard place, in the same sense that a Chinese restaurant would be, if they decided to snatch up your chow mein mid-meal and replace it with a burger instead, because the burger business is more lucrative.

I have no sympathy for them at all. There is no reasonable argument for them being “stuck”.

I disagree. It’s more like they offered you an all you can eat over a five hour period – but you got through it in two hours.

Given that you had already allowed another 3 hours of time to be spent at the restaurant – they offered you drinks as well.

You can’t be serious with that analogy.

Why not?

Because it’s not related to the current situation in any way. At least not in any way that I can see.

As far as I know, Anet haven’t taken away any content – have they? Anet themselves have stated that players essentially progressed (primarily in relation to acquisition of Legendary weapons) far faster than they expected. They therefore tried to provide additional content so that players would have something else to work towards.

Exactly what else did you think they were going to do? Have players reach the maximum ever possible gear limit within three months of release and have everyone stuck with that until they ceased to play?

So I was right. It’s not connected in any way.
What you’re asking is what has been talked, raged, yelled, discussed, argued in that 11k-posts topic that was just closed. Make a cup of coffee and start reading. Horizontal progression. Not vertical.

Mark my words the game we have now will be the free-2-play version the new P2P version will be incoming very soon, remember this day.

I would actually have no problem with paying a monthly to support this game. Well, until the Ascended gear that is.
