Buy em. They’re no longer obtainable via any other method due to them being from LS1.
Again, why would they lower the damage of ALL classes when the intent of providing a boost to base stats is to partially OFFSET the loss of stats from traits (and to compensate the not full offset from armor stats)?
Oh, so the game should be balanced around what strats ignorant pugs who barely know how to play and don’t have a clue what they are doing use.
Makes sense.
Considering that you started the game as one such ignorant pug, to use your own phrase, just like everyone else, yes.
editing to add that it is more useful to stack Alpha for at least one CoE path, the one he has the kitten able ice fields. With how widespread those fields are, being spread out is almost guaranteeing someone or three goes down with no chance of being helped.
(edited by Basandra Skye.4031)
Before you break out the tinfoil, I just want to ask, what makes you think they WOULD lower the damage output on skills when they explicitly stated that the primary reason for the increase to base stats is to help make up for the LOSS of stats (and subsequently damage) when they removed them from traits?
self-applied conditions will be changed to no longer use your condition duration so they feel less punishing
What about our condition damage? Does it still apply to self-inflicted damaging conditions (torment in this case)?
P.S. Can necro corruptions get this fix?
Unfortunately, right now we only can do this for non-damaging conditions. Ideally we’d allow damaging conditions to use your condition damage still(otherwise damage would be so low it’d be essentially no penalty), but not duration.
Yes, necro corruptions can for the non damaging ones, like Revenant.
What about stack transfering? As of beta, didn’t only 1 stack from you get transfered to your target while in Mallyx elite form? Is this going to be changed to transfer the entire stack over?
It’s doesn’t transfer, just copy each condition type on you. It’s designed to just copy over one stack of each condition type on your character with each pulse. With the lowered pulse time change, this means you’ll be able to stack up conditions copied especially when you have some condition duration.
Do you think it’d be possible to have a trait that changes that? Being traited for it to remove a stack of a condition each time it transfers would make Mallyx that much more useful by itself. As it stands now, it REQUIRES you to run Jalis with it for the condi cleanse, or hella expensive gear like Sigil of Generosity.
That or change mallyx to transfer the stack each pulse, and test it during a couple betas. Right now Mallyx is mostly all about “take take take take” and basically no give from that take.
It’s okay, I still got the gems. I’ll try contacting them
If you’ve used any of the account unlocks from Ultimate as well, the answer’s likely no.
My biggest gripe with that armor specifically is how it warps as the character moves, making it look like it’s made of rubber instead of metal and/or leather. The seam pales in comparison to that issue.
The Dreamer’s Finery :c
Looks like a good solution to me. In solo play, it won’t really make too much difference, but in group play, you’re not neutered because your allies are helping you.
Just because you’re being carried by allies doesnt mean you’ve not been neutered. To be fair, a Rev’s build with Mallyx is quite dependent on conditions not being cleansed immediately. Perhaps instead of something that “stores” conditions. What if it provided a “meta” condition every few seconds that sits at the top of priority lists for condi cleanses and NOT on priority lists at all for things like SYS or Sig of Generosity? This way the meta condition is cleansed/removed before the self-inflicted stuff, allowing the Rev to utilize them still for condition thresholds.
From what I’ve seen, due to it being a forced (this being the key point) shadowstep, it’s more likely to force enemies into places since it might be ignoring path validity, or simply by virtue of shoving them into a rock/wall that much.
From what others have mentioned as well, it does seem to not affect stomping, as it’s failed to stop someone from being stomped in the beta. Maybe, cant remember where I read it.
As for feedback on UA, I personally would prefer the INITIAL forced-step to continue in the direction you traveled on skill use. (IE p→……ooeoxoooo→e) Harder to explain with ascii crap than I want, but basically irregardless of where an enemy is within the field, they’re all ’stepped to the edgepoint of the field if you kept running after you jumped. Afterwards the following pulses should punt them to the closest edge.
I dunno, Mallyx seems like it’d sync hella hard with things like Sigil of Generosity.

I know the forum can’t help per se – I’m asking if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, how long it took to be resolved, i.e. I’m asking for the player side of the coin. I already have a ticket open and know the Support team is looking at it.
I will say, I’ve had confirmation from Support that this will take further investigation.
At least they’re looking into it. Mind, there have been other unforeseen edge cases by their own admission as well, so that may be playing a role too.

Using the Target shortcut Chris provided above, instead of all of what he added, just put in, without quotes, “-resetprefs” (with or without the s, cant remember offhand). When you run via that shortcut, it’ll automatically COMPLETELY wipe out all of your preferences, including preset options. It MIGHT fix your problem. Whether it does or doesnt, I do highly recommend removing the argument from your shortcut afterwards. I didnt for a while, and was getting kittened off at GW2 not saving my kitten xD
CoE I presume? If we knew the specific behavior of UA, it’d be a more useful placement skill, but until then, for the lulz.

1) You have an “extensive” history of purchasing gold from RMT
2) RMT will “harass” you with gold if you pay them
3) Yes, we are and have been sending out notifications of account action in regards to Botting / Hacking / RMT Purchases for months.
4) I would suggest not doing any more RMT transactions if you value your account

The worst thing is even relogging doesnt fix it. Say you level up from 1 to 80 in one go, you have to relog 79 times and click the message away each time.
Not really. That’s just making more work for yourself because you can. As long as you LEAVE that upcoming rewards prompt open until you’ve finished you’re leveling spree, it will not open up again. Rather, what I want is if I’ve leveled 79 times in a row, after you accept the first prompt, it automatically opens the prompt for the rewards from the following level, all the way until you accept the last leveling rewards. THEN if you still have one or more levels to go, it spawns the upcoming reward prompt.
Spinal blades doesn’t even look like wings. Those are more like… Dr. Octopus things. I would love to fly with them, but still.
The Tempered versions glow though, so…. Plus the basic version is literally a jetpack.
I think most of it is that those are logical pairings based on possible builds. If you’re running a high power build with high critical potential, you’d want zerker. Similar build, but with lower critical potential? You might run assassin’s instead. Same thing with condi or hybrid builds. Certain ones have more logical choices.
Sinister gear requires you to buy the inscription/insignia with bandit crests. The recipes themselves can be bought on the TP for a few silver each.
It’s fairly true as well in that rampager’s armor IS effective for hybrid builds that rely on higher crits (due to fewer +critrate traits maybe). My guardian, for example, when testing a build’s potential in HotM (yay for inde-golems), she was restricted to rampager’s armor since sinister isnt available. Discounting direct damage inflicted in the process, the build was able to stack up to 7-8k burning damage a second. That was enough for me to want to try out the build for real, so I made all her ascended gear Sinister stats. Now, with the same rotations, she can reach up to 11k burning as I found out against a champion in Orr. All things considered, that’s a substantial increase in damage.
Now if only they came out with a sigil that inflicts burning on crits.
First, I’ll preface this by saying I’m hoping Jon or others can chime in on this as well, possibly with some changes worked from it.
Alright, to get to the point, does anyone have solid information about the behavior of this skill’s forced shadowstep? From what I remember of the beta weekend, it didnt always displace the targets in the direction you’re facing, the direction they’re facing, or in the shortest direction based on center of field. At best it’s an unpredictable shadowstep, at worst, it shoves things into places they shouldnt be able to get into.
Was going through the footage to see if there were any highlights i wanted, and i discovered my ultimate Revenant purpose. To create challenging content for my own party from old content BEHOLD.

No Class can match Rev in this regard.
Psh. That’s small time junk. You gotta git gud wit dah trolz man. Troll Triple Trouble like I did (though mine was accidental due to skill potential testing, yes, it works). Sadly I didnt think about recording it at the time.
Yeah in hindsight this wasn’t the topic I should have… let’s call it vented in. It wasn’t directed at you. But just like you I want a functioning class that has it’s place. If the devs are getting feedback about what the class ’’needs’’ from other people and they mention every little thing possible, it’s just going to become difficult to pick out the real issues.
You also do want to keep in mind that this last beta weekend, no one had the straight damage trait line available to them. I can see a lot of potential for the Rev when you mix the damage line (cant remember if they’ve named it already) and the Invoc line.
Some sylvari cultural armor would look great on humans yet they can’t have it. Outrageous.
Try asking the inquest to make you some sorta human-plant hybrid. Maybe then you’d be able to grow sylvari cultural armor like sylvari do.
the only thing worth using an upgrade extractor on is generosity sigils, for almost anything else your spending many many times the items value to recover the upgrade from the gear.
I can’t stand this.
What is the friggen point of those extractors if they cost more than buying a new sigil?! Is it just a scam to get not-so-knowledgeable people spending money to buy gems? This is ridiculous.
Yes, because you can compare your dirt cheap 10g rune or sigil to an infusion I spent 100g+ on.
What is the process to cancel a pre-order?

If you pre-purchased it and want your money back, they will close your whole account.
Not true. I personally was able to get a refund on my pre-purchase and nothing bad happened to my account. They just removed it.
I ended up re-buying it after they added the extra character slot, though. lol
Depends on what level you bought. The basic? Sure, easy enough to remove and add. The ultimate? That’s got account unlocks associated with it, as well as gems. Depending on Anet’s tools, they may really have to totally close your account.
Considering the fact that the upper limit is around 64 characters, I doubt Anet’s going to increase that limit. Most normal players wont ever reach that many characters.
Because bad players hate dodging and blame the fact that good players know how to read animations and dodge when needed…
Half the problem is even seeing the animations through all the particle effects. They need an option to turn them down. Stupid amounts. Sometimes I cannot even see bosses.
Indeed. There are still several enemies and bosses in the game that I have no idea what they look like after 3 years other than what I can see in their picture when I target them.
The dwayna statue >_> So much guardian fire means you’re dodging almost purely by reflex when it does that massive solar flare-esque attack.
~snip~
And then people realize for the first time, apparently, that all future releases are also going to require having access to the areas HoT has, including free LS seasons.
For someone claiming to have played “the big mmos” around, you sure seem quick to plaster the “grindfest” tag on a game that has maybe THREE things it applies to, none of which are too impactful.
Also, I noticed your somewhat carefully worded complaint about no trinity in dungeons, and likely the game by extension. That’s gonna be a big kitten moment for ya. This game never had the trinity those other games you claim to have played have. That’s a big draw of the game.
You simply cant wepon attk in GW2 you only can use skills.
Which is a slight disappointment. If my ele’s using daggers, I want to be able to walk up to someone and shank them.
It’s not a bug. You have a CHANCE at getting something. That also means you have a chance at getting nothing.
- skills are by default set as an autoattack, which is a self-recasting skill or chain. That plays no part in their balancing.
Anet statements on it are:
1) It is not against the rules or the Terms of Service so long as it is only for in game goods.
2) The ONLY economics ANet regulates are those that go through the Trading Post or the Gem Store. So if you get cheated, be it when buying or selling, you’re out of luck. They may ban the abuser, but you won’t get your gold, items, or rewards back.
3) You can’t use the LFG tool, absolutely no sales are allowed, that includes selling paths.
1: correct
2: incorrect as far as anet’s response. You scam, you WILL be punished
3: REALLY incorrect, and that’s with Gaile’s sticky to read;
Our policy: Players may use the LFG Tool only for the formation of a group.
Players may use the tool to sell a spot in a group, but they may not use it to sell or trade items or for any other unintended purposes. Doing so will result in an account infraction.
…No, you cant. Honestly, if you have no idea “what is what” with traits, then you should read up on the information available for it, or ask questions on the forums.
Chemical Rounds is actually a perfect example of this. It provides a 50% improvement to condition duration in an attempt to make Pistols viable. Lolwut? Why would you just not make Pistols viable and then have the trait provide a much more reasonable and in-line with other traits 20-33% duration?
Probably because, iirc, most other class traits give durations to SPECIFIC conditions. Engineers having a trait that increases duration of conditions inflicted by a weapon are much more in-line with the class than them getting a single target duration increase.
Granted, you’re acting like you’ve never played an engineer too… so…
So you take a shot at a legitimate activity, and won’t allow people to defend it, but you will allow those with different views that will likely be similar to your own?
Alright then.
If you would think for a second about what I said, i don’t care which side you are on, I was mainly curious if anyone who though it was okay had any other point than its okay because we can. Thanks though!
Unfortunately it doesnt matter whether or not WE think if it’s okay or not. Anet’s stance, thus their enforcement of it, is that selling paths and fractals is allowed, and buyers beware.
Excuse my French, but. . . WHY THE kitten WOULD THIS REQUIRE GUILD PUZZLES.
This update and the balance issues is quite enough.
Probably because if you’d pay attention to their costs, THEY REQUIRE MERITS. In the end, it makes sense that something requiring merits to research, would require guild missions to unlock. Particularly seeing as guild missions AWARD merits.
Couldn’t you find the time to log into the News Blog website to view what’s coming up on sale each week? I mean most people have access to a computer/tablet/smartphone/etc. nowadays. Only takes a minute, or so.
Good luck.
No — between raising two children, running an office, advising the county, vacations, dealing with other’s vacations, arguing cases, meeting with victims, lecturing, just to name a few, some of us have very busy lives and logging into a site weekly, while the idea seems simple, is not always a priority or top on the list — such a task is quickly lost to much higher priority items.
But to answer your question with a question as well: How hard is it for them to come up with a monthly list as suggested?
But to move this post back on target — this was a suggestion to improve the level of communication and improve Arena Net’s sales.
If you have tasks that important to the point merely reading up a site is not to be done, then clearly logging into the game or making a post on the forums has just as low of a priority? Right?
No it doesn’t. They’re not even on the same tab.
Go hover over the Heroes Banner research. It does in fact require Guild Puzzle.
The Orr events are based on original scripting that will NEVER be retrofitted, nor their current buginess fixed, because Anet development is apparently incapable of changing it. I don’t mean “incapable” as a derogatory jab….. I mean literally incapable as in no person working on the game understands the legacy system sufficiently to make the changes needed. I think the only reason it was never gutted was due to the time and effort needed to rebuild under the new event chest rewards.
They have altered events in Orr before. As for whether it’s a “legacy” system, unless Anet’s called it that, or you’re a former/current dev, it’s rather hard to say whether they dont have anyone working on it, or will have someone working on it.
I want the favor of the festival to return in some fashion. I’d love to get a couple sovereign weapons, but at over 150g each, I must grudgingly pass them up.
Personally I dont want to see Boss Blitz come back. That was some toxic kitten worse than a reactor meltdown.
Astral’s actually QUITE wrong. The article said that comparing the old formula and the new formula, you’d need a condition damage stat of ~700 for a given condition to deal the SAME damage with both formulas. The actual value is closer to 680 post-patch. Further, the changes to the formulas means that post-patch, 0 condition damage deals LESS damage than pre-patch 0 condi. On the other end of the scale, 3k condi damage deals FAR MORE damage post-patch than pre-patch 3k condi damage.
edit (almost used burning as an example, woops)
Bleeding formula pre-patch:
(0.05 * Condition Damage) + (0.5 * Level) + 2.5 per stack per second
(0.05 * Condition Damage) + 42.5 per stack per second at level 80
Bleeding formula post-patch:
(0.06 * Condition Damage) + (0.25 * Level) + 2 per stack per second
(0.06 * Condition Damage) + 22 per stack per second at level 80
(edited by Basandra Skye.4031)
Anyone know how this is going to work? Will we be able to merge them all into one chat? If so will there be anything to differentiate the specific guild for the person that typed a message? Meaning, can we put them all in say, main chat? Then with them all in the same place, will they all still just be gold names or will they be dif colors for each guild? Or will the guild tag be in the chat, depending on which guild they posted the message through?
Chatting into different guilds will be done via the /g1-5 chat prompts. You may be able to customize the colors, or, instead of being “[Guild]Blabla: kitten” it may be “[Guild’s Tag]Blabla: kitten”
But yes, you can also do different chat tabs for them too.
To be fair, the people who trot out “play how you want” most are those who use it as out-of-context ammunition against Anet when a build, trait, or skill gets nerfed. Or ANYTHING get’s nerfed really.
On a more serious note, I’d rather see skills and traits that work off healing power scale better. For example, the guardian’s Altruistic Healing trait, scales at a rate of 100:1 (HP:amount), versus the active state of VoR (100:6), or even the Signet of Resolve’s incredible 100:125. To put this in easier to see terms, a full cleric build with monk runes, AH would only increase by roughly 15 points to 85 healing, while SoR would go from ~8k base to over 10k healing.
yea the idea was to get a target witch takes conditions and can be crit like the mentioned practice golem in the mists and not the hay slap sticks, the technology excists we just need to find a good way to apply it
IIRC, you can use nourishments BEFORE you enter HotM, and still have their effects. Additionally, skills and traits are MARGINALLY different there as well. At worst, your build would be a bit LESS effective in HotM than Open World.
This has the potential to set up a ‘requirement’ for dedicated healers, ie, those who sacrifice all damage to enable their allies to live longer and thus deal more damage (to make up for the damage the support cannot provide)
this in turn sets up a situation where people are forced to sacrifice their preferred playstyle in order to make play in any way possible. That’s not good design and i’m glad GW2 has never crossed that line.
Why i would like the healing power stat to be more useful and rewarding to those who choose to invest in it, i don’t think that this suggestion is a step in that direction.
as opposed to dedicated healers sacrificing their preferred playstyle and instead being forced to run zerker to be viable?
^ this.
Dedicated healers? Viable? Are you SURE you’re playing the right Guild Wars game?
Sarcasm aside, people really should refrain from using hyperbole style arguments. Given the way the game, combat, classes, and skills, were designed, “dedicated” healers were never INTENDED to be viable. They’re more akin to gimmicks than anything else.
This was not a cost analysis issue (was because it’s kind of moot at this point). If costs were the issue, the cheapest option would have been a blanket reset. Much easier to implement than to build a program to detect current choices and/or to design builds for people (which is what happened with L21-35’s.).
The real issue was implementing a choice-based system and choosing to favor those who did not want to use it over those who did.
Which at this point is a non-issue. Anet’s not going to take the time to implement some random feature maybe 10 people are going to use as a fix to their kittening. Everyone else the issue affected? By the time the “fix” is in the game, they’ve outleveled the criers and no longer have any issues. It’s a transitory problem. It WILL go away with time. Sadly that doesnt sit well with the “give me kitten now” crowd, so they’re clamoring on the forums for a fix that, ironically, would likely take longer to put in the game than if such people shut up and actually went leveling.
Sure it sounds rude (and having finished a kitten able 10 hour shift maybe 10 minutes ago, I dont care), but at this point you people are beating a dead horse. It has been what, 3 weeks since it happened? Even if you were a casual player that only gained 1, or nearly 1 level, a day, you’re almost guaranteed to have, surprisingly, casually played your way to “fixing” a “problem” that “everyone” had. Come on people, it’s time to cremate the horse, not beat it to an even finer smear.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I would want others to play the game and enjoy it the way they wanted WITHOUT interfering with other people’s game play.
Not sure that is always possible in the current state of the game. People can’t complete an event without interfering with those who want it to fail. People can’t cause the event to fail without interfering with those who want it to succeed.
I understand that. But someone trying to win an event isn’t usually actively and intentionally interfering with those wanting it to fail. The reverse isn’t quite as true.
Frankly they should make the rewards for both equally rewarding. My only concern is if success or failure effect other event chains, making a fix more complicated.
That wouldnt change anything though. If failure is just as rewarding as success, people would STILL want to fail the event. That’s primarily due to most of those events being chains. With event chains, the “restart after failure” time is typically very short compared to when it’s succeeded. That was the case with teh blix farm or whatever that ebola plague was called. When people who accidentally complete it start being the target of hate speech, Anet’s going to step in and do what they did to it: drastically increased the time to restart on failures.
Truthfully, other events need to get the same treatment.
I think the most important part is over looked here. You have to TURN OFF the profanity filter. If your panties get twisted so easily by curse words… leave the kittening thing on. If that was the case then you turned it off because they don’t bother you then this whole post is a joke…. You just want to bring up fail vs succeed argument again. Get over it move on.
Profanity filter does not give you free reign to go around with a bad case of verbal gonorrhea. If you do, well, Kitten you too. There’s a massive difference between “well kitten, I just died to a random mob” and whispering someone “get the kitten out, it needs to fail.” Not a hard concept, is it?
@OP, next time, report em, reply “nope,” block em, complete the entire chain and defend the final chain location for an hour or two.
