From what I skimmed of the OP, it seems like it’s just a rant over the gemstore and old skins returning. Sorry OP, you probably decided to hang onto skins a week too long and now you’re paying for it in item value. It happens.
They could have done Super Adventure Box
No, they really couldnt. SAB being re-released is a definitive “No” until they release the expansion and free up resources. Why? Because the cumulative changes that occurred since SAB went away have changes the physics of the game in such a way that SAB would be more broken than the bones in a corpse after jumping out of a plane with an anvil tied to your ankles.
There’s also a priority ranking for skills like that. If you have other conditions on you at the same time, it may be removing those before weakness due to priority.
I main an Ele, so I know Earth trait line improves Toughness..
I created a Guardian and I don’t know which trait improve Toughness, cause there’s no icon anymore that I can put my mouse on top of it and see “improve toughness by X”.People say “go 10011”… Ok… I’m not familiar with Guardians so I don’t know which trait is the number 1. You got the point.
Stats are no longer gained by trait lines, and the x/x/x/x/x build setup is an outdated relic form of trait selection no longer in use. Keep in mind that if you’re reading build guides and such, 99.9999% of them are going to be outdated as of the update a week or two ago.
The need for more testing or a test server. I dont know why one doesnt exist, but hope the case is stronger post patch.
Likely because a test server would only be used to test new character builds, “old” content, and overall figure out the best optimized way to do old things with the new changes. New stuff? What new stuff? Oh, you mean everything else on the server that absolutely no one else bothered with either? Yea, I liked it.
edit: @above poster and all others using the wrong term STILL. It’s not preORDERING, it’s prePURCHASING.
Wont happen for the same reason race changes wont. Profession and race are two character descriptors that are physically (for lack of a better adjective) hardcoded into your character data. Appearance, gender, name, all the other stuff? Variables that can be tinkered with by using the appropriate item.
The only think I can suggest is figuring out exactly what your character’s looks are (sliders and all), and just make another character with that look, using a name that amounts to a “nickname” of your character. Different characters, (sorta) similar names, identical look aside from armor.
If anything, they can simply remove uniqueness from character names. It’s not actually necessary for anything since the account name is already unique.
It’s required and necessary because of the sheer number of characters a single account is able to possess, not to mention the permanence of race and class. For player purposes, an account name is simply a catchall tag for mail, whispers, parties, and guilds. IE forms of communication. At least GW2 lets you use the catchall or a different character name attached to it to interact with other players. I’ve been on some games that require you to type the EXACT name in. That gets annoying as kitten when some kitten’s got a name like “wwwwwwwwwwwwwwvvvvvvvvvvvvwwwwwwwwwwwwvwvwvwvwvwvwwwwwwllllllllloooooololololllllllwwwwwwwwwvvvvvvvvvvvwvwvwvwvwwwwwwwvwvvvvvvvvvwwwwwwwwwwww” or some crap like that.
The title isn’t even discussing the topic.
Wait, there’s a topic? OP was too convoluted and kitten to try and think about it. It was almost like a drunkard tripped over a keyboard.
The one single time the ecto drop rate was changed (by accident), it was very noticeable and didn’t take long for people to compile enough evidence to convince ANet there was something to investigate.
Accordingly, people on these forums should assume that there isn’t a change to the drop rate. If you really think there’s an issue, then start tracking. It shouldn’t take all that long to collect data on 100 salvages and those that do will see frequent examples of 5e/10 salvage streaks, even if the drop rate goes up a bit.
Let’s not forget the one time JS popped into a thread not too long ago and trounced the thread’s OP for claiming Anet nerfed the salvage rate too, and the OP subsequently backpedaling so hard he made the Alps rise a foot in height.
edit:
What ever I did to wrong anet people, please forgive me…I am so sorry! :S
JS never forgives and forgets he torments and demands penances
This is an excellent thread!
Removing modularity of traits (ex shouts 20% cooldown, shouts heal etc) was a bad idea. Now, if something breaks entire builds are scrapped and put on hold because all old traits are bundled into one broken trait.
At least before some parts of your build would be still functional and you could substitute broken traits with something else in the same vein with your build. Now you’re presented the other two choices that probably have nothing to do with your build.
Take for example falling damage reduction traits. To get it you now need to remove entire trait line you desire just to get that one trait. Previously you’d just need to take away 2 points and invest into it for a short time.
As much as I have sympathy for new system over previous iteration, I think there was nothing wrong with the system we had at release! Conceptual cracks will surface more and more and it will hopefully dawn on Anet why is it bad to have such restrictive systems.
The difference is they merged concurrent traits and got rid of unused traits. Also, shouts never healed. Frankly the old system was far more restrictive than the one we have now. Take guardians and their Writ trait. One trait for 3 effects. Previously it was symbols either healed, lasted longer, OR were bigger. Now it’s either Writ or Force of Will as the choice because I no longer need to burn out other options just for Symbols to be stronger.
Second, the fall damage traits are the worst example you could have chosen. Just like before the change, many people only need to change that trait spot, not the entire line.
I would expect that the disable is temporary…
Radiant Retaliation was completely non-functional for 8 months, but when a really popular trait gets broken it gets fixed really fast.
Cool kids are broken.
Yes, because nonfunctional is entirely equivalent to “super”-functional.
Completely agreed. Please, just do it. I never ever used a glob od dark matter, so I am about to reach the 500 (Maximum stack on my collection atm) and still don’t find a use for it. I feel bad, because it was suposed to be valuabe considering from where it come from.
If you’re never crafting ascended gear, go ahead and just trash the globs. I dont think Anet’s going to give them another use for quite a long time, let alone an “eater” because of their obtainment method.
You should probably disregard the vast majority of videos about games on youtube anyways. The vast majority of them are meant only to garner attention, views, follows, etc, to generate money.
Seriously,
Before that **Big patch i was constantly getting min. 5 ectos from 8-9 rares..
I was counting for a week now and it is slightly above **NONE per rare..
Is this intended, explained or do i smell smt. weird…
You smell nothing, nothing changed, and nothing needs to be explained. Before JS has to come in to yet another “ectos got nerfed” thread and say nothing’s changed: nothing’s changed. RNG shifts all the time, and you always had a chance of rolling 0,1,2, or 3 ectos on a rare/exo salvage. You merely happen to be rolling closer to 0 right now.
Completely disabled A-Net? Really?…An entire GrandMaster trait just disabled (not merely modified, replaced, or out right nerfed) while we wait, indefinitely, for it to be fixed?
Did it cross your mind at all that they didnt have the option of leaving it ingame until fixed? With how powerful of a bug it was, I applaud Anet for disabling it before it came close to being an economical impactor. Modifying it, which by definition is HOW they’d fix it, without removing it first, could lead to even more disastrous occurrences. Replacing it would mean finding another trait to slot in the meantime, which could become just as broken, or worse. As innocuous as the trait looked, there’s something somewhere in the code throwing a wrench of epic proportions. That somewhere is just as likely in the trait’s code itself as it is in the combat code.
Engineer Grenades Pierce WITHOUT Grenadier aswell, I tested.
AFAIK, they ALWAYS pierced. The anomalous behavior is that when Grenadier is traited, grenades explode on pierce.
edit: and then on ground impact.
They are only OP in the context you’re attempting to solo a boss in Arah that’s normally meant for 5 players usually. Not to mention at least 1 of those other 4 players should be able to purge conditions often enough for it to not be too harmful.
Games should not be about math.
Then how will you know how much money or materials you need for said simplified armor?
“You guys know how every MMO we have ever played or even heard of refunds skill tree points when they make a major overhaul or sometimes even a small change to a skill within a tree?”
“Yeah well GW2 devs went the other route and spend them for you at seemingly random”
Once again, don’t blame the devs blame gd people who cried about losing their skills. Those people are the reason you are stuck with your temporary problem.
P.S. I have gained 5 lvls since the patch, not one Hero Point earned…
You only gain them on odd levels, and yes if you had more skills unlocked than you would have had in this system so you have a bit of a deficit. Still doesn’t change your problem is a temporary one.
Also still doesn’t change that my problem is being forced to play a character the way the devs want, not how I want…
I don’t care how temporary my problem is, when the only way to get around it is to play something I dislike.
This has nothing to do with the devs. The Devs didn’t go through each individual character and choose their build. They made an algorithm that weighed values of things. This method is invariably flawed for this precise reason. The flaw is just minor enough to not matter in the long run.
It has everything to do with the devs, they are the ones who opted for the algorithm rather then obvious solution.
The are also the ones who chose to not add a refund option and ultimately the ones who could fix that.
In the time it takes anet to “fix” your entirely temporary issue, you could reach a level where it’s a non-issue. But no, you decide to be a player hat flips out over something that would resolve itself in as little as a week of play. You already have the solutions available. It’s not Anet’s problem to give an unnecessary solution because you dont want to use what’s already there.
Are you even sure you were kicked because of necro? Maybe you were kicked because low AP, not being 80, or play/act like a noob, and you just happen to be a necro.
I honestly have not seen any necro being kicked just for being necro, exclude those with obvious bad builds for dungeon(hint: MM necro).
AP points are NOT a way to judge skill and frankly I laugh at that.
I think a friend uses it purely to guess how long they’ve been playing. :P
Still – while not very effective it can give you a good idea of what’s going to happen.
I’m pretty sure 8/10 times a guy with 2-3k AP has done significantly worse than that guy with 15k+ ap.
Why? Because if you’ve got 15k AP chances are you’ve spent thousands of hours in the game. That means that statistically there’s a higher chance you know the content, know how to play your class and have experience with the optimal strategy for whatever it is we’re doing.
It’s not guaranteed – but a better chance!I’ve actually seen people with 15k+ AP who thought they knew what to do, do much worse than people who were in the dungeon for the first time and just followed the rest of the group. I’ve actually witnessed 15k+ AP people being so bad, that you could as well have the mossman stalk you through the dungeon. Well, the chances of completing the dungeon with the mossman stalking you would actually be higher than with them on the group.
The point is: Someone with low AP is more likely to listen to advice and thus the chances of him getting better in the dungeon are higher. If you get a 15k+ AP fail, there’s usually only a kickvote left.
Odds are someone with low AP has also run the dungeon hundreds or thousands of times as well. It’s pretty hard to gain AP if all you did was run dungeons
Dungeons were, and are, going to be one of the better sources of Empyreal fragments. They didnt really need to give anything else.
then reduce the amount of empyreal fragments you get from them by 90%
still have enough fragments then….the fragments are nothing special… just as any ascended material
it counts as 0 reward for most people because they have to delete it anyway…
Except, unlike you I’m assuming, I can actually turn empy frags into useful junk with the Star. Just like I can blood dust and Mawdrey. Still tossing out dragonite because I havent gotten Princess yet.
Dungeons were, and are, going to be one of the better sources of Empyreal fragments. They didnt really need to give anything else.
Due to its unintended behavior, the Symbolic Avenger trait has been temporarily disabled until the next scheduled release. If you were using this trait, we suggest you select a different one until the trait is re-enabled.
Gonna give grenadier the same treatment?
We are looking at many things. And the reports you share are extremely helpful in honing in on the most critical issues.
Grenadier makes nades pierce and inflict damage on pass-through. I’m pretty sure that’s worth disabling Grenadier in the meantime as well.

I don’t see a red tag on your name.
I’ve got one!!
You should block the account and then make no further attempt to interact with them directly or through a 3rd party (i.e. having a friend send an in-game mail).
If they continue to harass you submit a support ticket with as much detail as you can provide.
But this is no solution if a person put you on friend or blocklist and always knows when and where you are online. Why I’m not being displayed for a blocked person as always offline? The blocked person could not see my online status and also not the place where I am. Please change this
I agree that this is in need of a fix and we’ve asked for one. In the meantime; let me hunt ’em down for you. >=)
Ideally blocking someone should make your account functionally “deleted” to that person.
block and report thats what i do but honestly anet wont ban anyone from verbal asault reports i you want more direct control writte a support ticket and your report of what happened and demand they do something.
Anet can, and in fact, will, do such a think Marko. It’s all about the severity. There’s a world of a difference between someone saying “you look like a ?” and “i’m going to come to your house and ??? you.” Both are punishable, but the one can lead to immediate termination on review of the report.
It should increase the damage on basis of your own symbols only, if that is the case (I have not tested).
Just like several other things on guardians, the trait is NOT limited to your own symbols. It’s currently proc’ing off every single symbol an enemy stands in. I was able to achieve 25k crit hits on Teq’s crit spot before we even reached the first battery phase.
That looks like the ascended armor you get from Tequatl. Is that the one from him? If so, then you can’t change the stats on them. Just the stats on armor you’ve personally made.
WRONG. Teq hoard weapons you CAN change. Wurmslayer Shoulders you CAN change. Wurmslayer gloves and helmet are currently borked.
I’m can’t enter fractal with party!! It was then update
Click the bar of the dialog. Drag it to the middle of your screen. Viola.
Grove is a pretty compact city regarding services. Also, seera, you’re wrong. Craft stations are available as banks regardless of that craft status,
In GW1 there was a button you could map and press so you could target yourself. I honestly don’t see why that couldn’t be re-implemented in GW2. It harms nothing.
Seeing other people’s gear/stats, however…that’s not good.
It was mapable in GW1 because the combat system was dynamically different with targeted buffs and healing. In GW2, you dont have such skills. The ones remotely close to them are simply a radial skill that works in an area.
It’s not confusing when you realize the Trait icon on the far left is the “Minor” trait of the line’s tier, with the 3 traits following it are your choices for selectables in that tier.
Such QQ in this thread about counterplay suddenly not being there. Well, you know what stops people from using movement skills? Immobilization. It’s a simple matter of l2immob.
It depends on whether the effect is offensive or defensive Mage. An offensive proc needs to travel through an enemy (poison), while a defensive proc needs to travel through an ally (cure condi). You can test this with the engineer’s mortar kit in hotm with all the golems standing in a line. The projectile only procs the effect if it passes through each target, which rules out using max range due to it’s arc.
As far as expected behavior, while it’s not what’s expected of the skill itself, it IS the truth of how projectile finishers behave.
Essentially that IS how it’s working. A projectile finisher needs to enter a combo field (not necessarily leave it) to give the popup. You could be shooting at nothing, and hitting nothing. That is in fact what’s happening right now. The more likely problem is that they’re having issues getting it to proc on an explosion, which is a contrary behavior to the finisher, not a problem with the behavior of the skill. Or players are simply misreading what Grouch said.
Gratz on not using them. They’re worth much more as spirit shards.
would you please elaborate on this and provide quotes? I am super interested in this topic.
Thanks in advance!
They’re not worth more or worth less now than they were before the update because it was a 1:1 conversion. Basically with the trait system, repeatable SP were no longer useful, and were changed into a currency dedicated to purchasing the items Miyami sells at the forge.
Vayne said they are worth much more now as spirit shards. I just would like to know.
thank you
And I elaborated as to why that’s wrong. You dont get more of them post-patch, and you arent spending less compared to pre-patch. Their value has literally not changed at all.

How do you even get 30 bleeds in AC? Doesn’t your keyboard have a V button?
Gravelings are evil little kittenters. Especially when you get knocked down with everything on CD.
And OP, minority OR majority, you dont speak for them. Claiming to do so is seriously egotistical and false.
3) the OP is reporting a legitimate bug so that this glitch can be investigated and possibly avoided by other people.
Not likely when no one else has been able to reproduce said bug. “Bug” not reproduceable? Then it’s not a bug.
Just because a bug can’t be reproduce does not mean it is not a bug.
If it cant be reproduced, then that means even Support cannot reproduce it, which means the devs cant fix it. You cant “fix” something that essentially does not exist.
The only thing worth commenting at the moment is that no, you dont speak for the silent minority.

As far as expected behavior, while it’s not what’s expected of the skill itself, it IS the truth of how projectile finishers behave. The difference between the engi’s pre-patch frag shot (and untraited as well) and mortar finishers is that frag shot terminates on impact with said target, while mortar continues on and ends in an explosion rather than an “impact.” And to be fair, I believe they did mention during an early livestream, mortar shot was going to be a blast finisher (which it still should be, albeit with a less than 100% chance), but that had some concerns for balancing, not just within the engineer class itself (comboing off mortar 5 for insane heals), but other classes as well.
The only hindrance to damage testing ourselves that I can see is that there’s some sort of wildcard modifier, even in the pvp lobby golems, that produces a large variety in damage numbers even if nothing changes.
None of the pulsing skills actually inflict damage beyond the initial shot, which is likely a balancing aspect just like the change to mortar shot’s finisher. Pulsing fields with nearly the same damage as mortar shot would inflict ~6k damage (based around my engi’s current build damage) per second on pulses. Over 6 seconds (since she’s traited), that’s 36k damage. Add in 6 seconds of quickness, which accounts for, we’ll say 3 for the sake of latency, mortar shots a second, that’s 12k damage a second.
I had a stack and a half.
Really, even if you HAD spent them your excess Skill Points became spirit shards anyway, so the point is moot.
If you spent excess skill points, you’d NOT get spirit shards for them. You ONLY got spirit shards for each point your characters had unused. If you had 400, spent 100 of them, you’d only get 300, NOT 400.
Unless transmutations and the MF use the same backend system, the odds of that happening are below zero. The more likely situation is 1) the OP transmuted the wrong item, particularly considering the fact that the provided screenshot shows that the item was never originally a wupwup piece, nor an ascended piece in general. Transmutations no longer overwrite rarity or stats, thus this is not really possible in the first place. Or 2) the OP is trying to steal something he never had in the first place due to the fact he cant salvage the rune out of karma gear.
The mortar kit’s Mortar Shot (#1) doesn’t cleanse conditions when shot through a light field. I’m not sure if it functions with other field projectile finishers.
Proj finishers must travel through or impact something. Since mortar’s a ground explosion, you’d need it to travel THROUGH the target/ally, then hit the ground.
Updated Mortar Kit not receiving benefits of explosive powder and shrapnel – While shrapnel now works, explosive powder still does not.
Added Mortar Kit skills 2, 3, and 4 not pulsing damage
Explosive powder might be affecting it, someone would just have to take the time to repeatedly attack a target to find your lowest damage infliction, and highest damage infliction for both with and without the trait. That’s really the only way to figure out for certain until Anet comes out and either says “it’s working” or “it’s not working, we’ll get to it.” I’m also concerned whether Shaped Charge, or any other damage modifier, is affecting mokittenamage.
As for mortar 2, 3, and 4, not pulsing damage, that’s probably not a bug, as they do pulse the conditions. It’d be a little excessive to be able to stack 3 damaging fields as well as spam mortar shot, as you’d be able to get in as many as 7 hits a second (with elixir U’s quickness). That’s a lot of hits in a short time. In the entire field duration, you’d be looking at roughly 30-36 hits over 8 seconds, if not less. I doubt anyone could survive that sort of spike.
As for HGH, it would only affect the recharge if you’re taking it and the Orbital trait. But yes, it does need fixed still.
I doubt they’ll do this. Karma and exp are already easy to come by, and increasing gold find by another 1% is pretty useless when it’s already <1silver most of the time.
As for wurm, not sure I understand why that got buffed. 3 attempts the day before ended in failure. People wont take the effort to learn a fight if it doesn’t feel achievable to start with.
TT requires coordination, far more than Teq ever did or will. Not to mention you have players attending such events with map chat turned off (god forbid something important is being discussed there), or arent there to make the event succeed. It IS achievable. You just need a full map. Not the kitten “ohey, it’s 5 minutes to TT, lets start trying to get people through lfg” I’ve seen at pug runs. Sure they can make it through the escort, but then the most basic fight mechanics kittens them up because they did absolutely no research. I take a kind of perverse glee watching those runs. All the hilarity.
That’s not even mentioning that TT has kitten for loot. It is literal kitten. Teq guarantees rares and gives a couple chances at ascended boxes. Wurm has one, and sometimes you’re not even guaranteed the other loot even if you’ve been in the entire event.
As for teamspeak, it’s a small program that doesnt take much system resources unless you’re running a potato so old it’s a potato-raisin, and many guilds couldnt care if you dont have a mic, or dont want to talk, or your spoken English is worse than a drunk russian’s. Unless you’re a drunk russian, then I’m sure you’ll be a funny person (speaking of which, I need to see if some guildies are interested in a drunken dungeon day again). What they care most about is you being able to LISTEN to what the coordinators need for a successful event.
you can turn of certain dmg parameter.
ther eis a arrow on the combat log option. give only buffed out goin dmg a check and you see only condi dmg
No, you wont. Outgoing damage shows EVERYTHING that inflicts damage. There is no suboption for just condition damage. You either see all or none.
Why not just open up your combat log screen and check it there.
Because you cannot show just condition damage. You get everything that inflicts damage in the combat log.
