If their speed didnt drop in combat, I’d send in a report of it. Speed should ALWAYS drop in combat.
It affects might stacking, and other beneficial effects, as a result of your buffs prioritizing your party. 3-5 guards for example, would waste a lot of might because it affects your party either entirely or mostly.
it’s difficult to believe they wanted everyone to be able to fill the role of a tank with absolutely no aggro management
Yes, because being a tank is considered a support and/or healing role.
It’s also food for thought to consider that, if a similarly sized sample produced 10x the drops (the outcome if it took 1/10 the bags to get 1), the drop rate would change from 85/10,000 for a percent to 85/1,000 of a percent. While that is a higher drop rate, it would still be considered to be abysmal by many players.
An estimated drop rate, as RNG being RNG, it IS prone to streaks. While the odds of it would be low, it’s still enough of a likelihood to reduce something from being just short of a concrete number to being merely an estimate. Anet stating a confirmation is what takes it from theory to proven.
Not to mention, it DOES matter how many it took before he got it. Was it 100? 200? 3000? That number’s the real benchmark for an estimated drop rate, not the “I opened X in all, and got Y” number you’re going off.
I believe the rng system is either broken or weighted in that upon creation or via a cumulative set of circumstances, an account can be slightly luckier than others.
I hear Anet’s selling tinfoil hats on the gemstore that come with a free dose of a dev telling you that this god kitten ed tired argument is completely false.
Just a minor note, unless it’s already been explicitly stated elsewhere, they’ve not finished everything for the Rev, which may also include an alternate weapon set. Afterall, a Rev’s COMPLETELY useless underwater this weekend.
Did a 25 now, easy game and don’t got any ascended gear.
Being able to do higher tier fractals means you’re not forced into waiting for a same-tier group to gain PR increases. Case in point, I’ve been running 40+ fractals since i was at PR <20.
Bug abuse and exploit abuse are typically bannable offenses unless Anet explicitly states otherwise. To my knowledge, the only time they’ve stated otherwise, was for Symbolic Avenger (and I’m assuming by associating, Grenadier) due to it’s unintended behavior as a result of the trait changes.
edit: and mossman still attacks underwater

As the above poster mentions, sorta, dont play zerg content on ultra settings. It’s an almost guaranteed disconnect.
and yes, we haven’t seen all the revenant options yet, but giving new options won’t solve the problems with the current ones.
oh and one more problem, which was raised in the awesome reddit thread: the traitlines are too isolated from each other. they have no play between them, and are too narrow-focused. as a result, you’ll always pick up the two trait lines corresponding to the legends you chose, and then invocation.
That may change slightly when Shiro’s finally out, as I believe the devs have mentioned that his invocation, and associated trait line, is the more “pure dps” trait line. As well as dual swords.
Is there a revenant around? Revenants have a displace skill which teleports enemies away from them; the teleported enemies have no visual effect to show that they are being affected by this skill, which makes it appear as if they were rubberbanding. Revenant is still in the beta phase, so don’t go crazy over this if revenants are indeed the source of your confusion.
That does sound like what I was experiencing. If this is indeed somehow intended then I hope they remove that skill very quickly, otherwise I will certainly be kicking any revenant from my group.
It’s a pulsing skill, 4 times over 4 seconds I believe. From the little I’ve played the rev, while the skill is janky as kitten, it can be used as a way to pile mobs together if they dont want to entirely stack. Additionally, instead of crying for it to be removed, it’s far better, and easier, to ask for it to be tinkered with to make it less of a problem. Like… I dunno, 2 pulses, once on landing, again 2 seconds later? Personally I want to test if the skill interrupts. If it does, then that’s another far greater use.
As for the defiance, I’m not sure if there’s a way to make that work. Unyielding Anguish is a forced shadowstep, as opposed to a pull, knockback, knockdown, etc. Because it also pulses 4 times, a rev with full energy can rip off 12 stacks of defiance in 5-6 seconds.
Bumping with another bug: Invoking ventari pops up a “file not found” error box around your character for a fraction of a second. My guess is they forgot to enable the emblem thing that appears when you invoke, or pushed the beta without it.
That might be less a bug with rev and a bug with those enemies not being immune to the rev’s movement effects. :P

Sure there’s going to be a handful of primary builds, most of which would be dictated by a SINGLE trait line, but being able to use THREE trait lines means you’re going to have many many sub-builds of that primary. Sometimes a single trait line will have the potential for 2 or 3 builds in it too.
There’s little point having 66M different builds if only 2 are remotely viable.
I agree completely. They made these changes so that you could alter your build to accommodate your play style better and not punish you for taking that Grandmaster you needed in that one line but had nothing else you wanted, or for losing attribute points because you didn’t take the berserker line 1 and line 2 all the time.
I would bet that there is at least the same number of more-significantly varying builds if not more now than there was prior to the update.
Yes, but the reason for that isn’t the new trait-system, but the fact that condi-builds are now viable as well and the fact that some traits were buffed. Learn to keep those apart!!!
Condi builds were ALWAYS viable, even before the update. Good? Not always. But definitely viable. This update merely made them stronger.
If that’s the case then I can no longer see any increase in viable builds. While I had the choice between about 10 or 20 slightly different builds depending on the situation I’m down to 2 now. Either because the other traits are in lines that I don’t have active or because the traits that were different before are now merged, baseline or removed.
Doesnt mean you have less builds open to you unless you dont take the effort to figure out what the new trait selections you’d use would be.
Or use them and your spare slots to do keyrunning characters. Instant level 20 means you can continue the PS after you leave the starting instance. Who knows, maybe you’ll get a home instance node or two that you can sell for 100-odd gold.
Maybe, but with how much easier shards are to get than laurels, it’d beat spending a year on laurels.
Considering all costs, gold and account bound mats, i would be surprised, if he finished crafting his desired sets in under a year anyways.
He probably could if he used the Anthologies. It’d leave his laurels open to be spent on the T6 bags to sell and make money to fund the crafting. Unless he got kittenty luck and got a lot of venom sacs.
There’s little point having 66M different builds if only 2 are remotely viable.

Yippee for thread merging while trying to submit a post.
There’s little point having 66M different builds if only 2 are remotely viable.
There’s little point having >50m builds when a lot of the trait selections were useless entirely, or useless by themselves (requiring other traits to really be effective). It meant a large majority of those builds were utter trash. The changes they did to traits, particularly with merging traits here and there, might mean there’s fewer builds total to select, yet there’s vastly more builds overall that are good now.
Maybe, but with how much easier shards are to get than laurels, it’d beat spending a year on laurels.
The immediate response I have to this is “git gud.” My second thought is to tell you to stop asking for something to be nerfed because you cannot deal with it. And finally, if you’re a pewpew camper, you deserve to get your own arrows shot back into your face if you cant properly adjust and move into melee range, or FURTHER AWAY to draw them away from the protection they put down.
Not that i like putting some more salt into your already tearing eyes (ok, i do) but spirit shards wont be your tightest bottle neck.
Assuming you want to craft 121 different items of ascended gear, you will also have to purchase 121 different recipes, which cost 5 laurels (and 3g) a pop, which adds up to 605 laurels. And thats not considering ascended trinkets, which also cost laurels.
For each login rotation of 28 days, you are awarded 35 laurels and the last chest gives you the opportunity to get another 20 laurels (unless you opt for vision crystals and ascended refined mats). Even at 55 laurels per 28 days, it will take you a good year to obtain them all, nevermind the trinkets. Also dont underestimate the amount of dust/shards/ore you will need.
Last year, i decided to craft 5 different asc sets for my warrior. Gold isnt really an obstacle for me, so i crafted away. During the 3rd set, i ran out of bloodstone dust, which i could farm. During the 4th I ran out of laurels. As already mentioned, take it one set at a time, you will make better progress.
Actually wanze, he only needs 90 for the armor, 30 for each weight. The new forge conversions means for a minor investment, he can skip the need for laurels for every other armor stat prefix.
Just ban boss selling via abuse of LFG system. Problem solved.
Yeah, it shouldn’t be allowed, simple as that.
OP probably got kicked from a fractal for a legitimate reason and want’s to complain about it IMO.
I highly doubt it.
All games forums are full of people trying to justify the selling of instances (whether that be raids, or fractals, or whatever), however wrong, as all games forums are full of people who sell them.
It’s not justifying or wrong when Anet’s OFFICIAL STANCE AND POLICY is that you ARE allowed to “sell” dungeons and fractals, and that buyer’s beware of scams.
Okay, some of you may judge me after this post but please hear me out.
I have 15 char slots of which 12 are level 80’s and the other 3 are not far from 80, so I decided it was time to begin to get the mats I need to kit ALL of them out with ascended armor and weapons.
I decided to get all the augurs stones first. 1 per vision crystal and 1 per lesser vision crystal that I needed. Including weapons I need 121 augurs stones to make the crystals I need for all chars. So I headed over to Mayani and saw that I had 1,175 spirit shards. This got me 58 of the stones I needed. That is when I hit a brick wall, no shards left.
So I spoke to a few players, checked a few things and it appears that it would take me just over a year to get the remaining spirit shards I need for the augurs stones.
This is based on getting 3 shards from dailies. Cannot include drops in this as that is RNG.
So I personally think the system is broke. Before the change, you used your skill points earned on augurs stones. I have a lot of spare hero points but I cannot spend them on these items.
If I had zero shards and wanted to make a legendary, it would take you 66 days just to get enough shards for a bloodstone shard. I mean really? This is ridiculous.
This problem will rear it’s head next when everyone spends their remaining hero points on specialisations, who have very few spirit shards. They will want to make one of the new legendaries and will be like: what the hell, 66 days of dailies to do that??
For the record, I’m not a fan of how dailies are done. As it pulls me away from mapping my chars.
Your points of view are welcome. It will currently take me 473 days of dailies to get enough shards for my stones.
Nor do I want to farm levels on my chars either, that would be insanely boring.
Your points of view are most welcome :-)
You realize that champ bags give spirit shards at the same rate (or better, didnt read much about them in patch notes) that they gave skill point scrolls right? AND you’re going to need said champ bags for farming the bloodstone dust. So….. yea, not as much of a problem as you’d expect. ESPECIALLY when you realize you basically need 90 laurels for the armor recipes. Another 60 or so probably if you’re crafting weapons too. Unless you’ve got those already, that’s gonna take you at least a month.
I’m sure there are some cases of kicking other players to sell the spots, but I have the feeling they are not the majority of sold paths/fractals. But dungeon/Fractals sellers are not breaking any rules by selling. You, OP, are breaking rules by encouraging people to grief other players. Good going there.
They’re only breaking the rules if you’re kicked for a nonvalid reason, such as making room for them to sell the spot. But that’s resolved by using the report tool, not coming to the community and asking them to grief people.
OP probably got kicked from a fractal for a legitimate reason and want’s to complain about it IMO. Happens in whine threads over fractals and dungeons quite a bit.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Policy-on-the-LFG-Tool/first
Players may use the tool to sell a spot in a group, but they may not use it to sell or trade items or for any other unintended purposes.
“Just posting to inform you all that selling dungeon runs its NOT against the rules. People are free to do so. Please, exercise extreme caution to avoid getting scammed.”
Despite both posts saying the same thing, I would seriously avoid using a 2 year old post when there’s a more recent, relevant, stickied post made by Gaile outlining the official stance/policy.
Could we please have a confirmation box before being whisked away to another (uncontested waypoint) so we are given the chance to cancel ?
You wont get one because the game wont know whether it’s contested or not UNTIL you’re loading into the map.
*Beldin: I code for a living, it is just that easy, it’s actually one of the very first things you learn how to do.
Sure it is. But unless you’re a coding dev for Anet, or reverse-engineered the client and somehow managed the same on server-side software, you have no idea how entangled UI elements are with each other. Secondly, you’re also conveniently forgetting the 6-0 utility skills. Them being distinctly separate on the UI is a hint to how they’re worked in the code. Heal skill slot requests one list, utilities another, and elites a third. Those are simple to code because they do not move within their grouping. But that’s just a guess. What isnt a guess is that the moment you grant the ability to move them around, the code WILL get more complex.
Cant forget that they also merged traits that also affected similar things, such as, using your example, Writ of Persistence for guardians. IIRC, previously, it’s individual effects were spread out to 1 adept and 2 major traits in the same line.
Your logic is sound on the Dwarves, but if and when Primordus is introduced, then Anet will give us the Tengu. Their city is blocked on one side by destroyer infestation. I guess they could drop the birds with the introduction of Bubbles, so the opportunity for the Dwarves to make an appearance is there. But I wouldn’t bank on it.
The dwarven race is functionally extinct. Ogden is one of maybe a handful of dwarves left alive. All others either died in the fight, or hide in such obscurity they’re equivalent to dead. Anet’s made it clear dwarves are an emphatic no.
As for skritt, THAT is also an emphatic no. And that’s just for the simple reason of skritt gain intelligence via a hivemind complex as more of them gather in a single locale. Individuals scattered about are about as smart as a box of the rocks they collect. As larger and larger groups of skritt come together, the more intelligent they become, as shown by the existence of a skritt “king” in brisban.
The first Guild Wars had the kind of customization you are talking about.
I forget why they took away this option for GW2, but I thought it was a definite step back as well.
You can move the mini-map though, so knock yourself out there.
They took it away because of the skills being modular as far as weapons. You have 2, 3 or 5 skills tied to a weapon, and their location is in a set spot. They’d have to modify a lot to be able to “customize” where weapon skills, or even other skills, can go.
If you STILL think people are forced to run “meta” builds then clearly you dont understand the scope of what they did to traits. The majority of that being they merged similar traits together, no longer requiring people to take up an entire trait line just for a “single” buff (like guardian symbols previously did), moving traits to lines that made more sense, added and modified traits to provide more options.
Sure you can say they “limited diversity” because trait lines now have a total of 9 selections for each one. That just seriously discounts the fact that in those 9 traits, there’s several others rolled into them at the same time.
New character has unlocked one trait line slot, I want to switch to another trait line but can’t because used up hero points in the useless trait line by accident but cannot reset to get back limited hero points. This is a broken system, please Fix it ASAP.
Anet already did fix it. It’s called level the kitten ed character. Seriously people. Stop kittening over a temporary problem who’s “solution” already exists, especially when asking Anet to code a “fix” to it would take so kittening long it’s pointless when it’s a TRANSITORY PROBLEM. Your problem. It’s temporary.
In regards to the “Modified Ammunition” Trait, if the engineer inflicts conditions like blind, vulnerability, cripple, immobilize for example which do not do damage on their own having that traited will increase damage on the target by 2% for each for a total of 8% but it should apply only to power based damage.
Again, not what’s being asked.
Nope. Damage increase increases direct dmg.
Otherwise it’ll say increased condition dmg or something like that.
You misunderstand. They changed Vuln to increase both direct and condi damage. Hence the question was do traits like Modified Ammo affect condition damage in addition to direct damage. Which is a logical question, just one with a still disappointing answer.
Do map exploration, pvp, etc. You get plenty of charges that way unless you’re swapping armor skins every hour.
Can we get a tick box in the options to disable/enable this confirmation box please?
Or remember it for that use of a salvage kit so that it doesnt cancel the kit or ask again until you cancel the kit and start again.
FYI this may or may not help, clicking the button instead of pressing the hot key will place the AOE on you and cast.
I’m not a clicker, and hopefully never will be. 90% of combat situations, my finger is firmly planted on the right mouse button, ready to move my camera at a moment’s notice. Stopping to plant a ground target AoE feels clumsy to me. Clicking on skills feels even more clumsy.
Just hover over a UI component when you’re getting ready to use skills like that. GT skills will default to a 0-range cast.
As for the topic itself, I’d rather see more fine-grained control. Namely an option that would dynamically change skills from ground targeted (when friendly or no target selected) to “at target” when an enemy’s selected.
Hi! For the past 2 months I have tried starting up my game and I CANNOT get it. Just when it seems like it’s working it suddenly just crashes, and this has happened everytime I started up, sometimes it gets farther with the download but it will always crash. I’ve sent multiple error reports with a reply email but I get NO RESPONSE.. I really like the game and I really want it to work. Please help!
IIRC, the crash prompt the game gives sends it to Windows. If it does send it to Anet, the odds of getting a reply are as miniscule as getting a reply as a to an ingame bug report.
I don’t have any numbers but some at least are account bound or account bound first then soulbound when used. All the accountbound wintersday bags we got with junk in them, I saved up a bunch then dumped them on a key runner to delete.
… I wish I had thought of this months ago
I would do the same thing when I collected a nearly a bank tab of ascended materials. Then we got the Eaters
I think you guys missed the OP’s point. The patch notes says that skins not obtainable by players have been removed from the wardrobe. The destroyer scythe is still in the wardrobe, suggesting that the destroyer staff is obtainable and no one has discovered the recipe.
Or maybe you understood, and you just disagree and think Anet forgot to remove it from the wardrobe. Doesn’t read that way though.
yea this is what I’m getting at, and i can understand that the current patch notes were not directed at other items such at the Destroyer Scythe but just knowing that they actively think none attainable items shouldn’t be shown makes me think it just might be there because it is in the game somewhere XD
Or it’s an oversight and it really isnt available in game.
No one realizes that OP is talking about AC where the primary “issue” is increased downscaling?
The downscaling hasnt been an issue for me, and I’ve run AC since the update, particularly on the aforementioned Engi. It probably is just a matter of OP’s build being more noticeable as a trash build that relied on the old trait system as a carry. I mean, I dont see many threads complaining about dying so much in AC. Short of Anet “silencing” those threads, it’s more likely the OP has, as unfortunate as it is, a “git gud” problem.
If you have THAT many portal stones to delete, then I’d be more worried about how quickly you’re recycling alts, and whether that slot being taken up is really worth the “effort” you’re so arduously putting forth.
Disable it. That’s probably the only way. The reason it may be prompting it every time is because the IP you’re connecting from likely changes quickly.
They DID do that Dyvim. If you had ascended gear, all you need was the exotic insignia or inscription of the stats of your choice. If you had exotic gear, well, pretty much the same thing. All that clamoring for “give me free kitten because you made changes I dont like” is stupid.
This skin is not just no longer attainable, it was never attainable. No one has this skin.
yeye and the quote from the patch note is “not attainable” not no longer attainable, so it must be possible to get right… right :’(
If it’s not in the wardrobe anymore, it never WAS possible to get it. If it WAS possible to get it still, it would be in the wardrobe still, no?
The problem with sorting is if people have such bags as well, or other purpose-specific bags. Granted, the fractal boxes are a rather cheap alternative to other boxes, in terms of gold cost.
less likely to salvage the rarer items that you got from drops, chests, and the like.
Run some fractals, buy the Exotic fractal bag. Dropped exotics will automatically sort into that bag.
