I advocate no level at all, it is an arbitrary number that skill and gear tie with it. When you gain XP, you gain skill stat with some player flexibility so you can tweak each stat slightly within class. It will also affect what equipment could be used. Example, in order to use heavy equipment, you need higher power… etc. But well, I’m talking about an entirely different game then. >_<
Hi Iris, can I get an invite as a student? Have been doing easy dungeon paths (CoF 1,2, HoTW 1, CM 1,2) but wanted to learn all the paths. Thanks you for your efforts.
NA server (JQ)
Fractals are broken to us but Anet did not see that way. Don’t be hopeful that they will be improved any time soon. I don’t see Anet intentionally breaking their promise, it’s just that too heavy work load on them for this 2-weekly update, they have to prioritize things…
Farming a specific type of Tier 6 materials is unacceptably hard in GW2. Anet did a really good job to prevent that. A more efficient approach is to farm every thing that can drop T5 and T6. Convert T5 claw to T6 with dust (as Hebee mentioned), trade other T6 mats to the T6 claw, sell loots from the farm and buy T6 claw, or you can make mystic clover and get T6 as by product. Chance of T6 drop, in general, is very low. Like many other stuffs, the most efficient way is to farm gold and buy from TP… >_<
Out of the hundreds of suggestions for commander tag improvements they picked the one thing no one asked for.
This shows how disconnected between Anet and the player base… O_O
Once again showing a bi-weekly update is too ambitious and you are driving your employees crazy. Don’t you understand the trilemma? Quality vs Time vs Cost: you can only choose 2 at a time.
These are naughty fixes from Anet. Although the Dredge can be dreadful, the blink and jumping puzzles did add some fun to deal with this fractal. Now they took the last of it away…
Considering the medium and heavy were re-skinned, the light has to be a re-skinned as well otherwise there will be another uproar. Not too bad but does it worth 800 gems?
There is one type of infusion called the versatile agony infusion (+5 AR), sold by the golem in the fractal. This one can go to the utility, defensive, or offensive infusion slot of the ascended ring/amulet. If you infuse your ascended ring, an additional slot will appear which only accept the new agony infusion (dropped as +1 AR in fractal which you can combine them to make higher AR). Hope this clarify a bit for you.
The only way to get rid of them is to sell to vendor. Many have suggested other options but it takes time for Anet to response (if at all).
You will get an infused version using the mystic forge: ascended ring + 1 shard + 3 globs + 5 vials of mist essences
The infused ring will have an empty slot for Agony infusion (no more +5 agony resistance coming with it). You can then slot whatever Agony Resist you need there.
Since Fractured, all level of FotM give pristine in the daily chest.
1) 100% map completion; if you don’t care about Legendary, you can skip the WvW map but have all the WP in the main map is useful.
2) With WP all opened, you can do all the world bosses and temple events. These are great ways to earn gold, rare, and karma —> build up wealth
3) With wealth, you can gear up your toon (exotic/ascended) to do dungeons and fractals.
4) other interest/goals, e.g. sPvP, WvW, craft Legendary… etc

If you don’t mind doing thing repeatedly, joining the Queensdale chain event farm can be quick to obtain XP. For all levels, I found doing personal story in fact has very good XP. Once you reach lvl 40 or so, I suggest you go to Harathi Hinterland to do the Modniir chain. Farm it over and over to get large amount of loot and XP. If you can find friends take you to do dungeon, it gives large amount of XP too. Also, do all the world boss events you can. Finally, when you have money to spend, crafting is the fastest way to level up.
Really? They created this amazing game but cannot make a search engine work? >_<
Alright, I tried to search something from the forum and it always gives me almost no results or very limited results. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone teach me? Shall I use Google instead the forum own search engine? If you can point me to an old post with solution, then this thread can be deleted. Many thanks!
Thanks. So the Krytan daily event should be very efficient with the train.
Level up your fractal and going back to do level 1 fractal will give you thousands of karma each run (roughly 1 hour). If karma boost is on, you get over 10K.
What would you get from champ farm from Queensdale? I tried a few times and it was extremely boring and the loot was bad. The color bags were annoying as well. Please enlighten me why so many people doing that.
Flying broom can be viewed as a mount; and it may be fun for some players. I think creating mounts which can only be used in town mode is fun too and it won’t screw up other aspects of the game. They can be sold at gem store as income for Anet. My 2 cents.
>The other question that I hope is answered in the positive is this: Can the average player skill be raised by challenging content like this?
I like to see this happen. Instead of “forcing” player to improve, a much better way is to “motivate” them; meaning you use “shiny” as reward. It works in the real world, it will work in a MMO. My 2 cents.
Not anymore, the new brackets for daily reward are: 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 etc.
Nice idea, but I still need a way to get pass the “overflow’s overflow” first… >_<
Nice work. The real challenge is to have nobody participating in the event. What server you are at? >_<
Don’t craft and buy any ring because you can easily get ascended rings using pristine fractal relics if you like doing fractals. And as meta goes, berserker all the way.
Mesmer is pretty strong and versatile.
Avoid being ganged, take on them one by one, you would be fine. You are not supposed to tank 10 mobs at once in GW2.
I only PUG, PUG is great, learn from PUG, wiped with PUG. If the PUG is not working, just leave, no hard feeling. Wonderful PUG. However, I found myself never able to make the PUG work with me, I always work with the PUG… I am too easy going
Don’t do dungeon or fractals until you are Lvl 80 >_<
Can you explain a little more?
Also, this good info for a returning player. I only played a couple of months so thanks for this. I’ll look at the sticky too.
I should say exploratory mode of dungeon, story mode should be ok. Now, for exploratory mode, and if you pug, expect some sort of frustration may arise from the group seeing you non-lvl 80. Why they care about Lvl 80 so much? Because, tbh, exploratory mode is HARD and you are expected to max your level and have good gear to complete them. One exception: if the group are friends you know, or they agreed to coach you, then that could be a very nice experience – no problem there. If you join random group, be aware that they can be harsh. If you must, ask them up front if a non-80 would be okay. I saw people just kicked non-80 without notice; yeah that happen quite often…
Don’t do dungeon or fractals until you are Lvl 80 >_<
Keep your girl from melee, a dead GF can be frustrating. That means: Ranger or Necro.
I also think this fix is very cute~
I’m okay to add how many wisp you want, as long as there remain only 3 pillars that those wisps go into.
If the word Berserk has any meaning in GW2, the spec should not have precision because you are at frenzy state. You would be powerful, forceful but not in a clear mind to do thing with accuracy. My 2 cents
Was it really necessary to make an entirely new post instead of just posting on the other one where people are discussing this topic?
The other post discussing this topic was somewhat buried in nowhere. I was hoping to have a explicit title so players can share their view of how to, if that’s really need to be done. I also hope that Anet will consider some of these wonderful ideas from players.
I hear you. I think if Anet wants to balance every single stat, it may be quite boring because there is no progression that one might pursue, in this case, the meta Zerk, or other meta for that matters. So it is quite a conundrum.
We all know zerk is the meta born out of increasing player skill and knowledge about the variety of mechanics in game. If not zerk, it would be something else. People raised concerns not to nerf zerk but rather to buff other stat. These cause another problem that the content might become less challenging. So I have a feeling zerk will get nerf after all. My question is how it should be done, what is acceptable to you?
1. Nerf power (by reducing the value)
2. Nerf precision (by reducing the value)
3. Nerf critical damage (by reducing the value)
4. Combination of the above

World boss event chains are very effective to gain XP time-wise. Examples:
1. The Maw (from grawl attacking to the defeat of the boss, like 6 events)
2. Modniir (from defending the camp to the defeat of the boss, like 4 or 5 events); this chain gives you a lot of loot bag as well.
Among all the classes, I think Guardian is pretty good at PvE. He can solo champ as well with his amazing abilities to block and blind. Guardian is known to have decent dps and healing power. The only down side is that he runs slow and no effective perma speed boon (unless you invest S. rune of traveler or speed).

It takes some time to “master” the control with a keyboard and a mouse. Re-mapping is good but I’m just fine using the default key setup. About what class to use, I think Ranger is good for beginner because it allows you to range kill everything, and have a pet as meat shield, so you won’t die easily when you are clueless of what is going on. It is also fun to discover new tamable when you explore the map. Warrior is the easiest and useful class in end game, so that’s why most recommend Warrior. Enjoy your adventure.
Hey gamesters.
I was looking at expanding my bank account vault to store some stuff that doesn’t fit into my collections. One extra slot would cost 600 Gem, which currently translates to approx. 44 Gold at the current prices.
Then I realized that creating my own guild only costs 1 silver, and a guild Stash with 50 slots costs 1000 influence, which I can buy outright for only 2 Gold.
It seems a lot cheaper to create a personal guild and stash stuff that way, than to expand my account vault.
Does this make sense, or am I missing out on something?
Are there any other reasons to create a personal guild (as well as the one I run around with).
What you are doing make sense because I and many others are doing that as well. I almost have 10,000 influence to upgrade to architecture IV to get another 50 slots. Personal story will award letter of commendation (400 influence). Events, dungeons, and character log in all award influence. My only regret was I started it too late, and have contributed about 10,000 influence to my previous guild. The only limitation in guild bank is that you cannot store account/soul- bound stuffs.
I think owning a house will increase immersion into the game world in general. Remember I was playing Ultima Online, where player can build all different sorts of house (up to a castle) in the map (not instances) was a huge unique experience and players were hooked for many years. Because the land is limited, owning a house became a prestige, further increasing the bond with the game. At GW2, though, I think the housing can only be instanced, which IMO, will not have much impact after all.
After experiencing all the good things pioneered in GW2 for more than a year, I strangely feel the overall feeling is quite detaching. Unlike previous MMO I have played, which can easily hooked me for 4 to 5 years, GW2 did not offer the same attachment. I ‘m afraid there is something quite fundamental that prevent GW2 to get me attached, but I don’t know what it is, at least for myself. I’m at the stage to “find” something to do, to hang on, which usually indicate the end phase of playing a particular game. After crafting my legenedary, then probably it will be time to say goodbye.
^^ This is very true.
I can see that the creator of Scarlet has enormous power in Anet.
Yes, it will take forever to upgrade. Perhaps, we would be allowed to take out the slotted infusion and combine it with a same grade for upgrade. I’d even agree to charge me something to take out the already slotted AR (e.g. a special consumable tools to just do that).
May be the author wanted to portrait Scarlet as a intriguing character. But up till now, I find her annoying more than anything… and has been dragging tooooooo long.
That’s sort of expected. Your legacy +5 AR will be replaced by the new AR infusion so we really need to combine new AR to more than +5 to make sense inserting them. Anyway, thanks for confirming this in game.
I myself would love to have 5 different classes (doesn’t matter which) in the group because it usually translated into “more fun”. Yes, certain class combination can get the job done quicker and cleaner, but over time it became kind of boring. About half of the PUG group I encountered were very efficiency-oriented which usually not fun to me (I avoid those LFG that has certain requirement); they care too much about finishing everything as quick as possible and could act very intolerantly. I believe it is one of the reason why FofM and dungeons are so intimidating to new players – feeling walking on the eggs….
