Yeah, I have to endure things I don’t like to get the last few Tyria mastery points. It sucks, and made me resentful.
I played all 8 classes, and Ranger is the easiest class to do all PVE content, including HoT. Several features of Ranger that allow this: high HP, mobility (signet), decent long ranged weapon (longbow), pets (switch to another when one died), and pets heal you when you are down. All these made Ranger the top choice for soloing PVE content. I am finishing HoT maps with different classes, and Ranger rarely get killed. Hope this help.
Warrior is the staple class of all RPG/fantasy games, everyone should play at least one (I have 3 chars that are warriors). XD
As others have already mentioned, there are many ways to earn gold but most of them fall into the “grindy” category for me.
Highly monotonous = grindy: node farm, flax farm, wintersday present farm, SW chest farm, mat farm, and other farm.
Moderately monotonous = somewhat grindy: crafting upgraded mat/item for sale.
Bearable monotonous : Daily Teq, daily fractals.
Fun = no profit: HoT meta events.
Dungeons = fun = interaction with 5 ppl = end game = gold —> NERFED…. so sad.
More grindy. Harder to earn gold (dungeons were nerfed). Good places to earn gold via PvE nowadays is: Tequatl (2 gold daily) and fractals.
Not going to happen. Be glad that they didn’t remove the dungeons all together. I came back to dungeon after finishing HoT; they are still very fun to play. It is sad to see them abandoned…
1. Yes.
2. Yes, hang in there.
3. Correct
4. It depends on what kind of damaging event occurs in the red circle. If it is a single hit, dodging will avoid that. If it is a continuous damaging event, e.g. poison, electric field, you must get out of it.
1. Yes, you do. For example, when you equip a staff and use skill #3, it will burn your enemy and burning inflict condition damage. Other condition damage include poison, bleeding, fear, confusion, etc. Each skill has its description when you mouse over it, you will know whether it will cause condition damage.
2. When you reach Tailoring 400, you can craft exotic gear.
3. Go to a bank, and on the last tab shows the wardrobe, that you can preview all the gears. Berserker is just a combination of stat (in this case power, precision, and ferocity), not tying to a specific look.
4. Dodging allows you to evade an attack, it is that simple. Red circle means there will be a damaging event, you either run out of it or dodge it to avoid that.

Forcing people into all game modes is bad

Some don’t bother with PvE but Anet force them to earn hero point that way. Some don’t play PvP/WvW but Anet force them to if you want to craft precursor. Why this game became so forceful? I felt distasteful. What do you guys think?
(edited by Battledoll.1803)
You can visit the legendary guys again to buy the box you have already unlocked (for 10k karma), this time give it to a weaponsmith to consume the recipes.
I pugged all dungeons and fractals, and learnt from others. Sometimes you will meet a kind soul to teach you some, and bit by bit you learn certain paths. It could be a pain, but over time you will master them. People can be unpleasant, but luckily, many more are quite kind. Guild, unless it is big and active in dungeon, does not always have 4 ppls that you can group up to do dungeon at your convenient time. You can advertise on LFG looking for mentor for certain dungeon/fractal; quite often you will get some nice people to teach you.
These are the weapons I often use:
(1) short bow (#5 for shadow step, smoke screen + #2 for stealth)
(2) Sword/pistol (#3 for cleaving mob + evade, #5 for blindness)
(3) Dagger/dagger (#5 stealth then go to back for backstabbing, #2 for large damage)
(4) Pistol/pistol (#3 unload is your range damage to go for should you need to range).
Thief is versatile and fun to play. You are loved for several dungeon paths as well.
If you have empty character slots, make new character to experience NPE change (new player experience), mostly interface enhancement. The personal stories are still the same. If I were you, I will keep the lvl 80 characters for: (1) birthday gifts, (2) playing lvl 80s’ content (e.g. fractal and dungeons). My thought is GW2 hasn’t changed much over a year. Not sure whether or not you miss the living story 2, which can be played again (unlikely LS 1).
The usual etiquettes would be for them getting out of combat, having you wp and running through the tunnel again. I did encountered once or twice people just ignoring your being dead and killed the boss. But almost 99% will give people at least a second chance.
The font (modern San Serif) break my immersion in this supposed medieval world of Tyria.
Great move Anet, now I can quit key farming and buy keys with cash instead.
Let me tell you the design of this event. You are expected to focus on the STORY, that Tyria is under attacked. You, as a citizen, the “hero”, have the obligation to protect your home country regardless whether there is any “reward”. But you know, Anet is so kind to give you some rewards by doing so. Be thankful guys.
"Don't Pre-Purchase HoT" ~ $100,000 Loss
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

what the kitten is wrong with people this days?
the expansion price is good and fair .
simple as that.
Looks like to me this pre-purchase of HoT is primarily targeting for new player (since the core game is included). With that, $50 is reasonable. For existing players like myself, these packages and pricing do not make sense. Advertising this in-game might not be an effective venue for new players but for sure it has already generated some criticisms from veteran players. Simple check: Who will pay for the core game when you already have it? I am for a package with only the HoT expansion with reduced price ($20-$30 range).
On average, you will get 3 – 4 scraps from opening 10 BL chests. If you are super lucky, you may even get a claim ticket (but don’t count on that). A key run (level to 10 and do the story) takes roughly 40 min.
If you craft up to level 10 and have your gear ready to go 20-30 mins should be all it takes. 10 extra minutes a run adds up pretty quickly when you’re doing it multiple times.
Crafting as a chef is the fastest way to get to level 10 (you would need to harvest or buy materials though). I craft to level 7, do nearby hearts to mid level 8, use writ to level 9, and then use a tome to level 10 (I want to save some money, and I have too many writs and tomes). 40 min is from character creation to getting the key; and I do it with a warrior. Hope this help.

Release them in CD or uncompressed WAV or FLAC, I am not satisfied with MP3 quality. XD
I like the mace, definitely better than the legendary disco ball.
Try fractals, they do not allow much stacking on Bosses.
I think in general, all MMO is kind of open ended. It’s really up to you to decide what you want to do, and what you’d enjoy. Soloer is not excluded from any of the game mode, you can do them all (except Guild activity if you’re not in guild).
MMO= Massive Multiplayer Online. Why you want small number of player, I don’t get it. If you want small group content, there are dungeons and FotM, or guild mission. Zerg is the essence of MMO. If GW2 doesn’t have zerg, it fails as a MMO.
I’d say you will see many come back or new players (e.g. saw many ~1000 AP players in dungeons, many are first timers), which is very important imo for the game stay vibrant (not just a bunch of old players). The game world and interests are huge (PvE, metaboss event, sPvP, WvW, EotM, crafting), it would be hard to find time to do everything. Just see if for yourself. P.S. Birthday gift is just some boosts and a gun that shoot cakes.
How KungFu master became a Master? He is able to defeat enemy in a shortest period of time, by being so skillful that he can’t be hit but he will hit your with a lot of power. This is in parallel of what Zerkers’ like in GW2.
Great idea, I love it, although I don’t like fishing in real world. May be tossing in a chance to fish up treasure (like, e.g. a precursor)? That would be nice XD

This site offer suggestions of a build for $600 (monitor not included). Hope this help.
Yes, it’s just a skin, but I’m quite happy to own two skins that I like very much. One of them is Kudzu. As long as what make you happy, go for it.
Yep Arena Net this is lame. A joke is one thing but what you are doing is annoying people. It’s like that one bad comedian that wont get off the stage. Ruined the mood of the game. (not everyone is 12 years old.)…also doing this when airplane crashes are on the news daily. Bad, bad taste and losing brownie points with me fast.
^This! I was annoyed, and found this repulsive to play. My own opinion.
Do you have your own private guild already?
NO?
WTFRUCRAZY?!?!Nowadays it cost a gold to create one, but it´s well worth the money.
Then spend laurels on letters of commendation and use them while representing your private guild. Until you have enough to build your guild bank and get quite a nice addition to inventory space.
Good point! You will be very happy to have a 250 slot guild stash/bank/cave of your own. ^^
I can’t really stand the slowness of Guardian (unless you use rune of traveler or some sort of speed boost). Ranger is very able and fun to play. Long bow is awesome as we all know. For melee, the Greatsword 1 evade is surprisingly good, and Axe 5 allow you to put stack of vulnerability onto foe. But yes, it is a rather selfish class (some classes are also quite selfish though). I’m having fun with Ranger in EoTM; better than Guardian imo.
Not sure you are into crafting, if not, you can get exotic gear rather quickly by doing Dungeon. The best one is CoF P1. It’s easy, fast, and fun (?). Earn 1 gold with 40+ tokens daily (double them if you do P2 as well). Soon, you’ll have enough to buy all the exotic gears, and best of all, they are all Berserker. ^^
The new daily: I found myself quit doing this entirely.
Reason: Too restrictive. Feel absolutely a CHORE.
He drops stuff: a blue/green, some coins, plus a steel chest (rarity seems to be random). You must make enough damage to him in order to get those. If you are alone, you can’t. That’s why you want to form a 5-man party to attack him. With a full party, I got them all the time.
Yes, if people can avoid this “goldsink” with ease, is it really serving its purpose? (if that was the intention, which isn’t too clear)
Make sense! I’m spreading the 8 crafting skills across 4 characters to avoid the switching fee. I’d say gold sink by this limitation is insignificant. I agree with you to either (1) remove these switching fees or (2) give each character up to 4 crafting skills (enough for covering most of the crafting need for a particular class).
TBH, I found reading your comment on the Living Story is more enjoyable than playing the Living Story itself. Anet should hire you to oversee the story writing, seriously~
++++1
+1. This move makes sense. I feel making a Legendary finally worth my effort. Thank you Anet.
Where have all the powercores gone?

It was weird to me that I got 6 cores in one SINGLE run. Happened to anyone else?
Looks like “pace” is an unsolvable issue in Living Story because everyone has his own “pace”. An Expansion, on the other hand, would not have this problem. Perhaps, that’s why expansion is still popular and viable in many MMOs.
Stacking can be viewed as “putting yourself at strategic position”. It has it purpose, a well thought one.
1) better written story. To execute a plot in MMO setting is tricky as this platform is completely new. Bottom line is not to drag for too long because player energy will dissipate and lose interest. Deliver a punch at appropriate time. The failure of Scarlet was dragging for tooooo long, leaving everyone clueless.
2) avoid laundry list of achievement to tell player what to do. It feels unnatural and robotic. I have enough at work, please make the game fun to play.
3) reduce zerg fest type of activities.
Why 3 seperate fights on the Breachmaker?

Unfortunately, I’ve yet to be in an instance where the hologram was defeated, so I’d say we need all 150 people on one platform.
Bring a toon with high dps range damage. e.g. a staff elementalist.
Why I still see Chinese character showing up in my dialogue box? I thought the input was in placed already?
Solo farm FoTM urban battleground. 3 min to kill Dulfy. Repeat until you can’t bear it anymore.

Saving gold to buy precursor off TP, but the price increase outpaced my saving. >_<
Exotics give you a higher chance than rares.
Rare: world boss event, guarantee one per event per day per account. sometime drop exotic as well.
Exotics: dungeon token and buy off from vendor
You can craft rares and exotic, and
You can always buy rares and exotics from trading post.
