I’m older than you Keysha and I dislike toon simply because animation in the US is considered to be only a medium for children thus a grown man running a “toon” can be taken out of context as some sort of admission of trolling for children. Honestly it happens. Try going to watch a Pixar, Disney or Dreamworks animated film during a matinee without kids and not notice the suspicious stares from the adults with children.
I feel that “avatar” is a bit pretentious, very Second Life, very respectable, so I fall back to old pen and paper “character” from my AD&D days in college. After all it is a MMORPG.

Ah! Breathe in the new players, push out the vet players!
It all makes perfect sense!
Not my point. NPE was to get new players to stay and not giving up. It has Zero to do with retaining vet players. Has it’s been pointed out by the devs, vets shouldn’t be seeing a bunch of this stuff plus “somehow” some of those level restrictions are in the wrong place.
When I think of vet retention I think of higher level activities like what they did with Dry Top.

Don’t understand why more people don’t use Malwarebytes to scan their system weekly to flush this stuff.

Metrics are tools, nothing more. It allows them to see what everyone is doing and not doing, not just forum posters. It gives they information as to where to look for improvements. Now what they do with this information and how to interpret it can be problematic. Not metrics themselves.
Remember Champ rewards? Reason it was added was metrics showed nobody was clearing champs. Reason? Rewards simply worth the extended time it took to defeat them. So the added the champ rewards and metrics then showed a drop in activities that weren’t champ centric. Even certain meta events were being allowed to fail because everyone was focusing on champs. So they had to turn the rewards down.

I’ve tried this and it works fine for me. I normally have it off so I can see the notes but turning it on, exiting launcher and restarting it works as soon as I login.

Throw in “rolling” a character. I was surprised that many younger players have no context to understand that phrase.
RIP City of Heroes
First it was this way on the old TP.
Basically speed runners and train crowds who were used to dump their loot for immediate coin (not really but most times true) shouted to high heaven about the original change to defaulting on match low sale price since now when they go to fetch their coin, a lot more items haven’t sold yet.
Oh the humanity.
Good odds that most of these players also bemoan how they can’t earn enough coin, unlike TP flippers, which they are unwittingly supplying with items to sell at the low sale price.
RIP City of Heroes
But frequently enought, at least for me, it wasn’t max by default on the OTP. Which always meant I had to double check.
And I don’t have FPS class mousing skillz and clicking within the slider’s width of the end of the bar isn’t all that bad. Anyways the purpose of my post was to point out you didn’t have to grab and drag as well as sharing my observations.

Maybe we need a new thread for those who are still stuck after they tried the follow. Doing a full reboot between each of these, not sleeping and waking it up again. This forces everything to reload as well as killing zombie processes.

Remember it takes a bit of time for all of your background tasks to load after a reboot, you may want to pause until the task manager shows your CPU idling before running the installer.
And if it still doesn’t work, open a support ticket for crying out loud and not just post here about it. Your systems are in the minority because the game seems awful crowded for a game people can’t install/update. Without gathering information your systems, they won’t be able to determine the failure modes. Just because you all can’t install doesn’t mean it’s because of the same reason.

This was reverted in the latest build, you sell to highest bid by default again.
If that’s true then that’s terrible IMO. You are never going to drive prices down if players spend zero time seeing what they could be getting if they were patient.
I agree, but I don’t think that this thread is about this. This one is about failure to instantly sell to multiple buyers if the amount sold exceeds the amount the highest buyer is buying.
That simply mirrors the buying experience. And I haven’t tested this myself but I suppose the methods to increase quantity to max works on the sell side as well. I’ll look into that when I get on later tonight.
Edit: Couldn’t find an item that I had in mass that had low quantity bids spread across a large range of prices.

Some Collections don’t appear until you find one of the pieces for them.

On the buy side, quantity available is first filtered by the max price filter. You can’t say you want X amount, price is no object as before.
I have not had problems selling any size quantity but that’s likely due to me not trying to match high bid.
In the past, if you didn’t realize it, if you sold a stack to high bid and they didn’t want all of your stack, it auto created a sell order for the remaining at that price. If I’m understanding the OP correctly, it sounds like that doesn’t happen anymore.
yes, and honestly, the current system, if i understand it the way you do, is actually better, because before people were unintentionally creating big undercut situations. which artificially lowered the sell prices, for different amount of times depending on the item.
Not only that, but if you actually wanted to sell instantly, you basically couldnt without losing your 5% cost of selling. when you take it off.
I noticed we aren’t seeing that sawtooth pattern on the gw2tp charts because of over selling to low bid as much anymore.

People always screw up the notion of multiplying the price by x% instead of dividing by 100 – x%. It’s better to just say you can’t short change yourself Vs a vendor.
If you are a serious flipper, you weren’t relying on “projected profit” on the old TP but breaking out a calculator, spreadsheet or going to a 3rd party site like gw2tp where true profit and spreads are calculated every few minutes.

Sir, your post make no sense.
New leveling system = total headache.
How do you get rid of total headache? You don’t use the new leveling system.
How do you not use the new leveling system? You craft.
What do you need to craft? Materials.
How do you get materials? You gather, or buy. Gathering takes forever. So you buy.
How do you buy? With gold.
Don’t have gold? Buy gems and convert to gold.
??? Profit for ANet.
A lot of dominoes you are lining up there. Of course if this is an alt your account may already have enough mats to level up your character or a pile of leveling scrolls.
RIP City of Heroes
Yes. Selling is horrible now. If I go to the “sell” page, it should automatically assume that I want to actually, you know, SELL the things that I click on.
How is it not doing that? You can’t buy from the sell page. It brings up you inventory. The two differences I see is defaulting to low sell order price rather than high bid. And of course the missing match your lowest price.

Hi everyone Lorgus here,
I just had one question for anet regarding the incoming VIP status that is already available in the Chinese version of gw2. The recent feature patch showed us that upcoming changes are often duplicates of systems already in place in the Chinese client.
So my question is this: How soon can we expect a VIP status that you can buy with gems?
From what I hear, in the Chinese client, a VIP status gives you the notable benefit of having a big symbol over your head for all the plebeians to see, all the better to realize your elevated status. I also heard that after a year of continuous VIP status, players will be able to obtain a precursor.
These feature sound like they’d be fantastic additions to the NA client, as a great way to differentiate the players who can afford what is basically a sub fee from those who can’t.
Regards,
LorgusP.S. hopefully the VIP status is priced at at least 1600 gems/month, we need to make sure VIP status is for real VIPs only

I’ve only had my mini vanish during boss events. Came back when player numbers around me dropped.
It’s because now it’s easy for everyone to have a mini out. Drop one in the mini slot, check off the check box and poof, mini’s out. Before this you had to remember to pop out your mini when you change maps.

I made that mistake PrinceWarhero. It’s not unlocks at 17, it’s tells you about it at 17. O should always open up the TP.
RIP City of Heroes
This surprises me because it was the least important for me. I price items to sell not on what’s waiting for me in pickup but on the state of prices of buy orders and high bids. I’ll get what I’ll get at that price. I trust that they can figure out the tax. The bid fee is important but 90% of # of items x price per, whatever.

Silly me, I was looking through the Evon blog posts for info, should have cross referenced with the patch notes. Thanks Geikamir for pointing me to where you got your info from.
Lots of plans went awry do to the onset of collections. Between the changes in ticket scrapes, leaving this class as a 1 ticket item made it a target for everyone to try to profit off them beyond what might have happened when it went to 5 tickets.

Players are bemoaning the loss of the button that maxed your quantity to either the amount you have in your inventory or max stack size. Well here how you do it now.
Single click on the right end of the slider.
It’s that simple.
It works on selling.
It works on buying if you are putting in a bid.
The only time it doesn’t max to 250 on buying is if you are buying from Current Sellers because that is first filtered by max price, either entered or by fiat by clicking the sellers list. If their are only 15 at or bellow your max price, then the quantity will only max at 15.
Hope this helps with the transition to the new TP.

Geikamir really screwed me up because Chaos Skin prices took a nose dive after the patch went live because they were still 1 ticket. Made 50g less than I would have if I sold the night before.
RIP City of Heroes
If I understand you correctly, the quantity is actually on the item’s icon like it is when it’s in your inventory. However the contrast isn’t always great making it difficult to read and the popup when you hover the mouse over the icon doesn’t show the number unlike the inventory. If you set the TP to compact mode you won’t see the quantity at all.
RIP City of Heroes
But people complained that the projected profit was wrong. Others thought it was alright. The compromise is they just list the fees and it’s up to the user. Now that you can’t list items at prices where it would have been better to sell to a vendor, it doesn’t matter to me anymore. I don’t set my per price on a stack so I get X when they are sold. I set my per price based on the current items being sold and the bids.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s 20 price listings max, the scroll bar is deceptive since we see only 5 in the window and the scroll handle is so huge.
RIP City of Heroes
Max was easy to set by clicking at the right end of the slider, no need to grab and drag. One click. Plus if you are buying multiple stacks at bellow the low sell order, you don’t need to reenter the price or stack size.
To buy multiples from the Current Sellers side, first the price on the buy screen is max price per unit you are willing to pay. This selects all the items at that price or less as the range you can select from. You can now adjust the amount to what you want. Alternately you can click on the last item visible on the Current Sellers panel to set the max price. Biggest draw back is you can’t select beyond the 20 listings they display. So if those 20 listings do not contain enough items that you want, you have to buy again. Don’t worry about the price, it’s smart enough to buy from low sell first.
RIP City of Heroes
(edited by Behellagh.1468)
I’ve always said they used the wrong word, profit, when they meant payment or whatever word to best describe the amount of coin waiting for pickup once the sale goes through. But because they used profit there was a groundswell of players wanting both the posting fee and and sales tax taken into account.
RIP City of Heroes
I found if you click the end of the slider it sets the amount to max. And I swear once I did that I could do multiple buys and sells without needing to max the amount, since it does remember the price you entered, bid difference when buying multiple stacks.
RIP City of Heroes
Some of it is a lot nicer. It’s a lot fewer clicks if you want to check on the current sell prices on each of the items you have for sale, baring the current 100 item limit.
Before you had to:
1) Click on transactions tab.
2) Pull down and select items for sale
3)Select an item
4) Select it again from a list of one
To look at the next item you had to first click on a different tab first and then go back to 1)
Now
Click at transactions
Click on current
Click on selling
Then for each item clicking on it gives you the buy dialog which displays both current bids and sell prices for that item.
Click to close dialog and choose next item.
So it’s 3 +2n clicks Vs 5n clicks. For one item it’s the same but for 10 items it’s half the number of clicks.
When buying or selling multiple stacks, it remembers the price you set between orders. Setting to max is one click (click the end of the slider).
The need to fix the limited list size.
I would like them to double the current bid and sell lists to up to 20.
Now I never really used the TP with the keyboard so if you are a good typist and quickly tabbed through the amount/price fields so I don’t know how much worse that entry method is. I was always a mouse → keyboard → mouse.
RIP City of Heroes
I like what they did with buying
Before I had to click the amount field, set it to 250 (when buying) and then click on the price field, enter the price I want to buy at and for me I could double click and buy 500 before the fields reset. Now once I set the price and amount once (if it resets it’s one click to max), it’s two (or three) clicks before I can do it again and again and again.
I like what they did so we could inspect the current prices on stuff we are waiting to sell.
I like seeing the (abbreviated) list of both buyers and sellers. It lets you see if there’s a gap in the low sell prices.
RIP City of Heroes
I don’t mind scrolling, I actually like it better than paging. But I understand what you are getting at, before they could fetch 10 at a time Vs your entire history. So instead of your entire history, you get last 100 or something on each of the transaction lists which for me only bugs out history.
Honestly they really need to fix that for buying and selling lists. Limited history is okay … for now but heavy buyers and sellers are very, very annoyed.
RIP City of Heroes
OMG….it doesn’t matter how many threads you open up on this very same subject…the issue is not resolved!!! I have Windows Vista….I have been playing this game for a few years….all the fixes that have been posted seem to only work with windows 7 or 8 (my wife has 8 and she is able to play). Is there a fix for Vista or am I simply just kittened??? At this point I am kittened as hell so forgive me for being rude.
Have you bothered to submit a support ticket?

Kitten new players, why do old players have to go through all the same kitten? I’m not a new player. I know how to kittening dodge and create my own build. Let me play the godkitten game ANet.
Don’t think they group tested that notion otherwise they would realize how much of a pain it is the 2nd – X time through.
RIP City of Heroes
The changed from high bid to low sell in hopes that players can earn more money and/or drive the sell price down due to undercutting. Unknown if the decision was to stick it to TP flipper’s by eliminating their supply sources. Wonder if buying defaults to high bid?
Upside, now it’s impossible to sell so fast you will get the error message. Problem solved.
RIP City of Heroes
Are they lost or is the list length on the TP capped?
I looked at my history and have only 2 days of stuff I bought and 8 days of stuff I sold, same number of lines. I bought a bunch of basic mats and they dribbled in so the list is long on buy but when I sell most stacks are bought in only a few batches.
RIP City of Heroes
You would have to change it to the odd sounding “does it not”.
RIP City of Heroes
Likely because what that info implied violated the NDA release date.
RIP City of Heroes
Okay then someone needs to fix the wiki unless it’s those levels are when they first tell the player about them. In which case they aren’t locked.
And that’s the problem. Vets of the game are interrupting it as “unlocked at that level?! WTF?!” when really, that message isnt for US. Its for NEW PEOPLE.
A new person doesnt know about the bank right away, doesnt know about salvaging, or anything of the stuff. So they don’t know that they are actually unlocked right away.
I agree that leaving the message there is stupid, but there really isnt any other way to tell people this stuff. Hell, when i first played, i sold trophies, not understanding what salvage was until someone in map said it.
My bad. I mistook rewards and informed of at various levels as unlocks. They aren’t. I panicked and assumed the worse from some of the stories posted.
RIP City of Heroes
I’m hoping this is just a bug, or like what Behellagh said, someone accidentally “turned the culling knob up all the way”. First day though, so I hope it’ll get fixed sooner than later.
Btw, what’s up with the “kitten” in my OP? It wasn’t anything vulgar at all. o_O
Look at the letters kitten replaced. Your original text is available under edit or quote. Hint, it’s the T in T & A, if you removed the space between words.
Good to see they have the word assassin on an OK list when they added that outfit. Kittenkittenin would have been confusing.

Let me apologize, I was scrolled down from the header on the leveling page and you get the crude kit as a REWARD at 12. You are told about gathering at 9. My bad.
And the Copper-Fed SK is labeled as a basic reward so it’s not like we got locked out because it was behind a quality lock.
