There will always be a segment of the player base that thinks the convenience items in the the Gem Shop (gathering tools, salvage kits, etc) aren’t worth the “price”. But it isn’t an economic decision, it’s a decision about removing any concern about running out while in game away from outposts and cities. This new convenience item eliminates the concern about, what I consider, the minor inconvenience of moving your convenience items between characters at banks.

It doesn’t have to make financial sense.

for me the problem is not the price, its the slots/price/limit ratio.

700 gems for 4 slots, times five (discounted 2800 gems for 20 slots) would be reasonable for me. On the other hand it is amazing QoL

The limit will be expanded over time, just like max bank slots and collection expansions.

Are you mad?

You can buy a complete new game for 30 bucks.

Good idea, terrible money fishing

35 bucks for 5 inventory slots … on every character you have or will ever have with each slot holding “duplicate”, probably expensive in terms of Gems or gold, convenience items.

First of all, you will earn enough HP to unlock everything on a character by the time you get to 80. HP challenges in the world allow you to unlock quicker as long as the skill slot is unlocked. So there is no right or wrong answer.

Unlocking skills is very linear now, your only real choice is which skills of the four skill types available sound interesting.

I bought the set of 5 and put my permanent bank access, copper fed, and 3 permanent harvesting tools in it. Now each of my chars has access to my bank no matter where they are, a copper fed salvage kit of their very own and (If I remember to switch out the tools) they have a set of permanent tools.

I thought it was well worth it for a convenience item and only wished to have another one for my Royal Terrace pass. I never thought we could get this much, certainly not a whole set of 20.

Guys bottom line is this about buying gold. You can’t use a Gold Seller to get gold however, you can still obtain gold by going through the game Goldseller err I mean the Gem store. You can easily pay double the cost (in actually cash) to get something that would cost you less elsewhere but make the company happy by purchasing them Gems to turn into Gold. And don’t worry this is all legit and you still get the knowledge of knowing that you spend more for less and the Gem exchange rate does not change much so you can do this over and over again until your heart is content.

And you are safe with the knowledge that you won’t get the gold taken away and you get a timeout for using a RMT Gold Seller. So there’s that.

Laptop Buying Guide

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Behellagh.1468

Behellagh.1468

Don’t.

Sorry but it’s like saying you want a vehicle to haul furniture but it has to be a roadster.

The notion of a gaming laptop is ludicrous in my opinion. Anything that’s decent would be large, heavy and have a battery life of an hour for gaming. That’s the exact opposite of what laptops are targeting, at least lightweight with a good battery life, which translates to a less powerful CPU and no discrete GPU, the opposite of what GW2 needs.

The next thing a potential buyer hamstrings himself is some equally ridiculously low price. I usually see “I want a $600 laptop that can play X at max settings”. And I wanted to be living on Mars by now but we don’t always get our pipe dreams.

That said, same rules apply for desktops as laptops. True quad core CPUs, Intel over AMD. On top of that, discrete GPU with GDDR5 memory rather than DDR3, faster spinning HD or an SSD. Notebookcheck is a site that ranks the myrid of laptop CPU and GPUs. Note that the desktop rule that i5 and i7 CPUs are true quad cores don’t apply for laptop CPUs. You will find what we would call a desktop i3, dual core with HT, as a low end laptop i7 CPU so look for the HQ/HK/MQ suffix on the CPU model. GW2 really runs better if you have more than two real cores.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

After limiting your picks to relatively recent quad cores and GPUs (GTX 960m and up) then price depends on amount of RAM, VRAM, size and resolution of display (as well as display technology), SSD included or not, backlit/mech switch keyboard, etc. I think ASUS and MSI are generally the good brands.

You could use a site like NewEgg to filter the wheat from the chaff to a relative short list. That you could investigate further. It’s just with the money you will be spending you could get a much nicer desktop setup.

Didn’t think any of the Wintersday activities count toward Activity Participation. Only the one that the NPC in LA assigns.

Actually, at least one Wintersday event counts, maybe more.

Following someone else’s lead in this thread, I joined the bell choir, got in after the “play anything you like” finished (and the farmers had left), and waited ~20 seconds. I got credit for daily activity, as soon as the scoreboard popped, even though I gotten to the stage (let alone played a single note).

MAYBE SPOILER, MAYBE NOT

So, if will be gliding, must be updraft and… ley line gliding!

But how ley line gliding can be in Tyria?

The answer is… in Hearts and Minds when ley line gliding moved to 4 directions (to 4 Dragons- new Dragon from Glint’s egg, to Jormag, to Kralkatorrik and to Deep Sea Dragon or Primordus). And if ley line passed through Tyria to Dragons, will ley line gliding in Tyria. Same when Mordremoth awakened he consume ley line gliding and… when ley line passed Magus Falls, in Tangled Depths and Dragon’s Stand we can see this. Same now.

I imagine that core Tyria won’t have lei lines to glide on or even updrafts. That’s one way to keep the existing mastery abilities in check in core Tyria. Without updrafts or verticality near existing JPs, those JPs will be safe from gliding.

It’s more about advertising gliding to players in core Tyria who don’t have HoT and to satisfy the need to jump and deploy gliders for those who do have HoT. How many HoT players forget, at least once, that gliding doesn’t work in core Tyria and need to be rez?

Whatever you do please do not copy paste Wintersday yet again, more content, not just fake content like achievements.

Show Lions Arch some love and our woefully under used personal instances!

And most importantly make achievements attainable by humans not robots.

Sorry, this will always be the case with annual events. Doubly so for ones that occur about the Christmas/New Year. Other than tweaking, like wisping other players on the JP (like what was done for the JP during Halloween) or adding a new skill in snowball PvP. Perhaps they will “fix” whatever that prevents your party from entering an instance of an event together. But if you want something totally different, nope.

I would rather have their PvE content team work on stuff that can be done year round rather than four weeks.

Dulfy note: ...working on the next expansion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Behellagh.1468

Behellagh.1468

I’m sure it means something HoT-like. Twitch chat got very excited when he casually mentioned that in a sentence talking about balancing development focus.

Remember all the discussion about the price model for HoT, and the people that felt it was wrong to “give new players more because the core game is included for them?” Pretty early in that ANet flat out said “this is our new model, you’ll have to buy expansions but all earlier versions will be included so no one ever has to buy multiple games at once just to play.” This made future expansions rather less hypothetical.

The interesting take away from Colin’s comments is that they will be working on the next expansion this year alongside delivery of deeper content for existing systems, not waiting a year to even start. Presumably there will be more information regarding this on Tuesday in Colin’s promised blog.

You should listen to Colin’s comments yourself, Dulfy includes the video and it’s only 10 minutes at the start of the stream (plus a few seconds at the end). The rest is well worth watching if you have any interest in the process of composing game music but won’t tell you anything about coming game content.

edit @ Obtena: Actually, he specifically said that LS would be one of the things coming during the year.

Well the word expansion was tossed in the list of types of development focus. The gist of his talk was how in 2016 they won’t be doing anymore, beyond WvW, reworking of an existing game system or spending a bulk amount of their resources focused on one type of development such as an expansion.

2015 was all about the expansion to the detriment of just about all other content. In 2016 they will be spending time using all the new game systems they added in the expansion to focus on releasing content for them as well as working toward the next expansion, whenever it will be released. No game mode will get the short end of the stick in terms of resources. They will also be throwing non content creation resources at bugs in HoT and Core Tyria. Polish and new content are the goals for 2016.

So while there may be work starting on the next expansion, fear not, we shouldn’t see lack of new content and bug fixes in 2016.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

I would imagine limitations like only level 80 characters or only in level 80 zones. Neutering the higher glider masteries, hopefully NOT a Core Tyria Glider Mastery track. No updrafts near JPs or even the addition of downdrafts near them to keep gliders out.

Anyways there are only a few tall places in core Tyria where gliding would even be possible/useful since only a few maps have any decent amount of verticality.

I think six months is harsh if the cheater only used the drinks to get the shoulder piece rather than a gold farm. Zeroing out the drink count if they hadn’t achieved it yet, removal of the shoulder piece if they had and a suspension until the event over would have been enough punishment for a first timer IMO as they didn’t hurt the economy.

That goes out the window as soon as they start selling drinks however as they are mucking with the economy and that affects everybody.

I’ve said this in other threads on the subject so why not repeat it here.

Halloween shoulder needed you to either farm/buy thousands upon thousands of ToT bags and open them to get the one ultra rare item drop. Or you could spend a lot of gold and buy it directly off the TP.

Wintersday shoulder needs you to either farm/buy thousands upon thousands of gifts and open them for ultra common items that you need 10,000. Or you could spend a lot of gold and buy these items directly off the TP to get 10,000.

So in reality both events were extremely similar in obtaining their respective shoulder piece than different.

It’s therefore obvious that ANet did not want these “rewards” to be like the Living Story achievement rewards which were obtainable without the need to play the content exclusively for the entire event, unless of course you are a beast with the JP and you could put in large number of hours doing it without getting fatigued. Of course if you had such skills in JP or Bell Choir that you legitimately earned the number of presents likely needed, forgoing the should piece would earn you a huge pile of gold. Point being it’s out of reach by most by just doing the activities.

If it’s the first way then once you decide on what should or shouldn’t have this feature, it’s intern grunt work to tag the appropriate items and then do a diff to see if you did it right. You don’t have that particular issue being discussed iFamous according to your screenshot.

About halfway down in the right column you will see a field called Bus Interface. It says “PCI-E 3.0×16 @ x16 3.0”. Since both sides of the @ says x16 means the card is talking to the CPU using the full number of PCI-E lanes available. The 3.0 is the version of PCI-E.

So your 970 is talking to the CPU at nearly 16 GB per second. The OP’s card/PCI-E controller wasn’t initializing correctly so their card was only talking at 0.5 GB per second (@ x2 1.1) which was why his frame rate plummeted from one day.

10 K drinks need roughly 45 to 50 STACKS of gifts.

Weird then, that I got that title using about 40 or so stacks…. And I got the candy one for free too….

To those that say you MUST do the JP, where is the person holding the gun? I decided to cough up the gold and make some other players happy.

Disbelieve because I’m seeing a 80-90% drop rate on drinks so 40 stacks, 10000 gifts wouldn’t do it on it’s own.

Also how many hours or how much gold did it take? Don’t forget that broad casual nature of GW2. Even two hours a night is considered “hardcore” by many.

And yes, no gun was used but a reward that’s out of reach by so many. It’s like telling your eight year old that they can get a bicycle if they make their bed, pick up their toys, and move all the new sofa up three flights of stairs, on their own. One of these requirements is not like the others.
