RIP City of Heroes
PAX South transcript
Finally, another example of something that you’ll be able to master with the mastery system, something that I think a lot of you love today if you’re a GW2 fan, is collecting, crafting and building. It’s a big component of GW2. And when I think of mastering collecting, crafting and building, I think legendary weapon is the ultimate version of crafting and collecting in GW2. So, there’s one component to building a legendary that is the hardest component to that experience – can you guys tell me what you think that is? [PRECURSORRRRSSS] Did you say precursor! oh that’s it! Yay! Clearly we need to do something about that… the mastery system will allow you to build out collections that send you on epic journeys across the world of Guild Wars 2, that, once completed, will reward you with precursor weapons to set you on your journey to building a legendary.
Nothing there on price. Just a way to acquire one through crafting.

You have the dirty cog on you right? It’s not in an invisible bag (throwing out possibilities here). You have the angry present out right?

Yes, unlocked skins are account wide. They will cost a transmutation charge to use.
RIP City of Heroes
Stopped at Walmart yesterday and it was $49.96 and was in the right spot.
RIP City of Heroes
Game runs fine under Windows 10.

BDO isn’t NCSoft.

It shouldn’t be, it should be account bound.
Advanced Spinal Blades are soulbound on use
Theres a guide on Dulfy http://dulfy.net/2014/02/18/gw2-spinal-blade-backpiece/ that explains the process of upgrading far better than I could.
I would guess you are missing the Gift of Blades, the recipe can be bought from the Mystic Forge attendant just make sure you buy the right recipe for the crafting discipline you want to use, atm I think Armorsmith is the cheapest way to go.
Oops, was looking at Temporal. My bad.

Salvaging Changes
Despite keeping a heavy sink of materials in the new endgame weapon journeys, the changes were nowhere close to balancing the current numbers . To help get us closer to where we want to be, we’ll simultaneously roll out changes to the salvaging of some materials. Some of these changes will reduce output to help us maintain scarcity, and some will rebalance heavily input materials with more rare materials to help even out some of the variation of scarcity we currently have.

Which says nothing about ecto salvage rates specifically. Also this link is several months old and we didn’t see a change in ecto salvage rates when HoT went live.
Did you read Chad’s post?
Chad’s post has nothing to say about salvage rates, just that supply has increased. Of course if you go back to when HoT went live the Ecto supply went from 70K to 150K today just two months later. Is the reason a higher salvage rate? More rare weapon and armor drops that get salvaged now? Needing gold so selling off some or all you have collected? Too many variables to say why ecto supply has increased.
RIP City of Heroes
In the future, don’t tell me I can’t have an opinion and share it. I am of the opinion this should have been a holiday quest for everyone to do sans gem cost.
Just that only those with HoT can use it – so to the rest of the players it would be frustrating.
I’m absolutely fine with everything about this glider – mine is as ugly as kitten and I’m really happy about that.
But without Dulfy I wouldn’t have known there was a quest.
Except for the description on the Angry Gift itself on the Gem Shop which tells you to see the first contact in the chain.

Not this again …
Personally, haven’t noticed a shift. If there was an issue we normally would see the price of ectos and rares tick up because it’s the rate of resupply that keeps the price steady on mats and the salvage value dictates a lot of the price for rare/exotic armor and weapons.
Remember the “average” is 0.875 ectos per rare using the master/mystic/silver salvage kits and even then there’s roughly a 40% chance each time you will get 0 ectos. RNG is a fickle beast so unless you are documenting every salvage until you get a reasonably high sample size, as in over 100 salvages, last time I did this I did over 400, the nature of probability can give you a high variance and only a large sample size can see if the Law of Large Numbers points at the expected value.

Come off it guys, the original “not a Mimic” mini had a quest for a bonus item so this isn’t new. Anyways it’s just cosmetic items, like most expensive items in the gem shop.
Single minis are normally 350 gems, glider skin 400-500 gems. The two “angry” ones are 400 gems and if you do a little fetch quest you get either a 2nd mini or a glider skin. I think it’s a great little “bundle” that requires only a tiny bit of effort to get the 2nd item.
RIP City of Heroes
A lot of returned gem shop exclusive dye packs. But I remember the sales post Christmas, around the New Years.
RIP City of Heroes
I was trying to collect the bits for the present tree in my personal instance and I was trying to do the JP in Iron Marches for like 3 hours. The worse was the strobes when effects get applied on you, mid jump. Not looking forward to the remaining 5 items to get, nearly all behind JPs.
RIP City of Heroes
They’re called Jumping puzzles because the vast majority of them requires you to “puzzle” out how to get from point 1 to point 2. Unless of course you simply watch a tutorial about how to do it. Once you know what to do it’s then all mechanical, your reflexes and motor skills.
I’ve spent a few hours and have barely made it half way through the snow flake portion, so yes I lack the reflexes and motor skills as well.

You can dye it in festive ugly Christmas sweater colors.

Dx12 isn’t backwards compatible, Win 10 simply comes with the Dx9 dlls as well (along with Dx8/Dx10/Dx11). And of course the video card drivers still support all the entry points those older Dx standards use.
Just search for d3d*. * in your windows directory and you’ll find all the Dx 3D dlls, not just Dx12. That’s why the game works in Windows 10.
Your post is contradicting
For DX12 to be backwards compatible it has to have all Dx9 dlls along with Dx8/Dx10/Dx11 which you pointed out. Which proves DX12 is backwards compatible same for video card drives to recognizes which DX standard to use.
Thanks for proving my point
No I didn’t.
Yes you did, and you are the only person I’ve seen say dx12 isn’t backwards compatible when many articles on the web say different.
Because it’s easier to tell clueless gamers like Conan that their old Dx9/10/11 games will still work by saying Dx12 is backwards compatible rather than explaining it every time that it will still works because of the other versions of Dx is still supported by Windows 10.
Microsoft has done it’s marketing too well and made people believe that there is only one official version of DirectX for each version of the OS rather than it being an addition to the versions it already supported. Vista added Dx10, Win 7/8/8.1 added Dx11 and now Win 10 added Dx12. Added to, not replace, not absorbing the previous versions.
The point being is that you can’t right a Dx12 game and have it work on a Dx9 system. The API doesn’t sense the hardware and OS compatibility of the system it’s running on and automagically provide compatibility to that system. To still support Dx9, developers need to provide a specific Dx9 render path, they don’t get that just by using Dx12.
RIP City of Heroes
Oops, I just found out that not all Mysterious Grubby Packages are the same.

No I didn’t. There are a number of ways you can look at programming code that uses DirectX. The programmer’s latest DirectX API documentation includes functionality from all versions of DirectX (within reason) including the latest, ie Dx12. That does not mean DirectX 12 is backward compatible. Now from how it’s actually supported is done by using version specific DLLs, so really it’s Windows 10 that’s backwards compatible. Then there is hardware compatibility of DirectX versions. The article you linked to is about that which I’ll go into later.
For a developer to program targeting a specific version of DirectX, there is a compatibility level they set which flags during development when a developer uses part of the API that isn’t supported or exceed limits set by that compatibility level.
Now what the article from that link is talking about was not requiring new hardware to support Dx12 functionality. This wasn’t true with Dx11 and Dx10 cards as the new functionality added to those DirectX versions needed significant hardware changes. Dx10 needed a completely redesigned GPU architecture paradigm, moving from fixed pixel/geometry and shader pipelines in Dx9 hardware to a configurable array of simple FPUs (Floating Point Units). Dx11 required a hardware tessellater and MPAA x4 that Dx10 hardware didn’t have. Dx12 was more about additional functionality using the existing hardware rather than requiring additional silicon.
Edit: This is the 3rd or 4th pass at simplifying my point.

We’ve already had supply/demand crossover on the higher price common items that drop from the presents like the drinks and fruit cake. And since the price of the present is going to get tied to the average price of the items it drops, it’ll go down as well. Nature of bags on the TP.
RIP City of Heroes
The anonymous nature of the Internet lets people be kittenhats without fear of being torn apart by those next to them in line. Last night there was someone driving around my town little shopping area screaming Star Wars spoilers out of their car window.
RIP City of Heroes
Since the Internet and social media, major societal events like a new Star Wars movie is going to get spoiled for anyone and the chances will exponentially increase over time so the only way to avoid it is to see the movie ASAP, which is what a lot of people who don’t want to be spoiled did.
If you are planning it see it with family over the Holidays, turn off your phone, log off of all social media and stay away from people.
RIP City of Heroes
If the issue is wintersday gifts, much easier to get them in Toyapocalypse. But without the JP three times there is no way for them to get the shoulder and I think there is one other achievement from the JP. So the OP is being silly.
RIP City of Heroes
When you hover over the item with a character that doesn’t own it, the popup will say who owns it. Not sure what happens if the original owner character gets deleted.
RIP City of Heroes
Someone started to report that it was one in two and go do Southside Cove to farm keys but I never had keys drop at that high of a rate since the very early days of the game.
OP was lucky and the rumor about key drop rates is just that.
RIP City of Heroes
No problem, search here is non-existent.
RIP City of Heroes
And if you don’t care for either the shoulder piece or achievement, they are fetching a nice price on the TP.
RIP City of Heroes
No spoilers. Enjoyable movie. I’m old so nice punch in the nostalgia feels. Go see it.
Oh, and Trolls will be Trolls. If not in this game than another, or social media, or a hashtag. So only way to fight it is to shut yourself out of social media or beat them to the punch and go see it ASAP. Otherwise it’s the sad nature of anonymous nature of the Internet.

If you are talking about the special BLTC dyes they tell you the odds up front for the RNG, usually 6 in 25. 24% may sound good, assuming equal weighting, but it really isn’t because a 5 pack still gives you a touch over 25% of not getting any with a 5 pack. If you are that 1 in 4, it will seem terribly unfair for 500 gems.
If you are talking about the normal 7 pack dye kit they do say 5 common and 2 not common. There are 181 common, 119 uncommon and 82 rare dyes. We don’t know if the uncommon and rare have equal weightings and even if they did it’s a 35% chance of not getting a rare. That’s the nature of RNG. Again if you’re the 1 in 3 that didn’t get a rare for your 200 gems … shrug.

Can we please get a working Mac Client [Merged]
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Behellagh.1468
Can we get metal api support for the macs that can support it maybe? this would give macs a much needed performance boost by moving a lot of the graphical processing directly to GPUs or dedicated GPUs if the mac supports one.
That’s up to Cider. Now if you are asking for this for a native client, well you got to get ANet interested in doing a native port.

The game has over 30 threads, but only a few are taking up around a core’s share of work. And remember that on an i7 with HT that 4 of those cores are really just smoke and mirrors and is simply a way to make the existing 4 cores a bit more efficient since running a single thread the internals of the core are rarely run at maximum utilization.
In practical terms HT provides a similar effect improved performance as a minor overclock.
This is my quad core while in LA. Since it’s a quad, no thread can exceed 25% of the total CPU’s overall performance.

They are entirely option. Sure there’s a collection for each but seriously, if players are stressed trying to fill these out then maybe they need to seek professional help or have way too much money to burn.

But the ax looks like a pizza peel (spatula).

One suggested work around did work for me, knock on Sylvari. Once you set up your settings, log out to character select and then log out to the launcher.
RIP City of Heroes
Maybe we should check reddit …
RIP City of Heroes
Not everyone got it last year.
RIP City of Heroes
Sorry, you used “slapped in the face” hyperbole. Fail.
Wintersday is available to all so it’s not content tied to the expansion, just an annual event with 90% recycled contact. We have the orphan present hunt that lets us get rid of any junk from previous Wintersday. We got some new items, food, snowflake conversion, recipe/TP tweaks, loads of new achievements, etc. So I find this Wintersday different enough from last year to feel new.
Sorry I don’t see the outrage here.

Well there goes the good times when green logs to green planks promote to soft planks was a money maker. The margins have been slim for a while now but now that’s gone.

I don’t believe so.

It takes up to 72 hours after applying the code before you get the gems. It’s in the fine print about the ultimate edition.

It’s annoying. Fortunately there are only a few changes I made in General Options but this obviously needs fixing mates.
