without adequate rewards , your basically running around in circles until you get sick of the game and never play it again.
which leads me to my question, does A-net not like money?
Since the game isn’t sub base but B2P, they got their money. But you have to understand that sexy stuff is designed to be acquired over months not days or weeks. A lot of disappointment comes from that.
RIP City of Heroes
There is a write up about that Meowminox, you have to add gw2-64 to some list or something. I’m sure someone who fixed their laptop when it was first release will pop in. I think it’s also talked about earlier in this thread.
RIP City of Heroes
The solution sounds simple enough to me. Make a group to do raids that takes in anyone, doesn’t matter what gear they’re wearing, and go do the raids. I bet you’d get lots of people signing up and both you and the gear check people will never encounter each other and both sides will be happy.
Too bad that you won’t get very far with that setup.
Waiting for the push back when some realize raids aren’t profitable. Sure you get stuff to craft legendary armor precursors, ascended gear and exclusive minis but if you are expecting a huge payoff for all the time you spent, the old time vs reward metric, there is going to be a lot of disappointed people.
You want to do it because it’s fun? a challenge? not a loot pinata? Then pugs could work. And as more players run it with their guild mates decide to pug, the experience of the team goes up and pugging becomes a possibility in a few months.

Can we please get a working Mac Client [Merged]
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Behellagh.1468
Wow….
ANet just updated us! Thank you ANet for the update, for the first time i managed to play the game on medium settings without a terrible fps (i tried for a few minutes, i still can’t believe i’m able to do this on the mac client, hope the game doesn’t prove me wrong in a near future).tips fedora
No, ANet updated the 32-bit Windows client which was crashing frequently, which was why the 64-bit beta version was pushed out, and it happens to also help the Mac version.
This is what they have been saying all along. Fix the common issues that affect everybody first and then they can look at the ones that only affect Mac users.
But he was shouted down and had 27 additional days of nothing but disparaging things said about the ANet and the team(s) in charge of the game engine and it’s cider adaption. But one fix went in hand with the other.
Would a native client be better, hella yes. But unless they rebuild their engine to be cross-platform or a business argument could be made to pay someone to create a true Mac port all you are going to get is Cider wrapped version and the PC users will be stuck with a Dx9, limited threaded version of the client.
You keep asking and so will we.

There is a way where you by karma cloth gloves, toss them into the MF and salvage the gloves you get out for linen. Haven’t done it in a while myself and the return isn’t that great IIRC (1 copper per karma point) and it’s tedious.

Buy Fine Cloth Crab Grabbin’ Gloves from him, four per forging. But like I said, it’s not quick money and a lot of work.

Don’t have a problem with amount of slots I can get without buying additional bag slots.
Wished there was an invisible bag for account bound gear so when I swap weapons from inventory, especially swapping in a two handed one for a paiir of one handed, that the “extra” weapon doesn’t get moved to the first available slot in the bags where normal drops go.

I’d love it if they allow us to select the difficulty of the dungeons. Solo-level comes to mind. I’ve stepped in one or two dungeons, but never again given the lack of rewards.
Might be time change the dungeons to selectable challenges given raid are now here.
Since it’s instanced I would love to see a way to adjust difficulty, as long as it impacts rewards. I fondly remember City of Heroes, which is almost all instanced, and the difficulty setting finally made it possible for some of my lower DPS characters to do content while the high DPS characters (scrapper lock) could crank the difficulty way up.
RIP City of Heroes
I was talking about penalizing for quitting a party mid instanced.
It’s not the “best way” sPvP, it’s the laziest way. The only reason dungeons are “not” anymore by some is because tokens were the secondary motivation to run them, the primary was the big chunk of liquid rewards. It’s gone now and not coming back and if you still want tokens why not just run the dungeon without the some slave master driving you get it done so the party can get to the next path.

No but it helps toward getting the 250 hero points needed to unlock the elite specialization fully. I think there are 400 hero points (40 hero challenges, world boss group event level) in HoT but there are 200+ soloable hero point challenges in Tyria.
The choice is yours.
RIP City of Heroes
Except then you get a group with a wide range or experience and playstyles that will stay intact up to the first challenging encounter and then the experienced players will leave and the newbie players get frustrated with the wipe. Unless you penalize more harshly than now for quitting a party while in instanced content.

The Champion Svanir Marauder in Wayfarer Foothills says something when he hits 75/50/25% which I thought was a cute way to signal how much progress you are making.
RIP City of Heroes
The game now has 7 million registered accounts. No idea how many of those are China or P4F.
Stupidly I keep getting HoT ads since I read HoT news from game sights and watch HoT videos on YouTube. Problem with targeted advertising is they don’t know when they are preaching to the choir.
RIP City of Heroes
I happen to watch the BogOtter record a video on this today during his Twitch stream. He found it (well his army did) in relative short order north of the road between Snowden Drifts and Diessa Plateau.
Basically a new Vet Ice Elemental stomping around up there, really shouldn’t be difficult to find except everyone who bought the “not a mimic” pet (because it’s adorable) is also hunting a killing him so you may have to wait around for him to respawn.
Just remember to have the pet out when you kill him and then waypoint down to bathe in lava because you only have 5 minutes once you get the frost buff.

How do I download the client?
On the Services drop down select account, you may need to log in again. From there select Game Content and you will find the links to the various clients. The 64-bit Windows version in under “Other Client”.
Download it to the same folder that the game is currently located or move it to that location from your browser’s default download directory (assuming you didn’t customize it or set it to prompt you a location). Otherwise running it from anywhere that the gw2.dat file isn’t will download the dat file all over again.
Then make a shortcut to gw2-64.exe and voila.
Now if you are on a laptop with two GPUs, the CPU one and a faster discrete one, there may be additional things to do so it knows to switch to the discrete one for the gw2-64.exe.
Hope that helps.

Some stuff never comes back, but most of it does.
Too be clear, everything sold as a SKIN has come back. What hasn’t come back were TOWN CLOTHES that weren’t converted to an outfit/skin for the BLTC or tonics. Now since the wings double as a glider skin which is tied to HoT, they most assuredly will come back.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s roughly a buck ($1) a key in bulk.
Those who complain about the cost tend to discount the vast majority of the drops from BLCs, and for those players I can understand but in that case perhaps BLCs aren’t for you. You want a weapon skin, it’s cheaper on the TP even with gem bought gold much less than gold bought gems for keys.
And here’s the thing. If keys were cheaper in terms of gems, it also means it’s easier to get with just gold. And the easier that is, it’s likely means less cash bought gems devoted to buying keys. It’s an empty promise that there would be more gems bought for keys.
I get it that since the key farm nerfs that your source of “free” keys by doing a specific activity is virtually gone. Now it’s gold farming if you want your keys but as I already pointed out, if you are doing this just for BL Tickets for skins, your farmed gold is better spent buying them from TP.
$1 per key is still too much. I’d suggest $1 per 5 keys.
I don’t care for skins or whatnot, I just don’t like seeing ridiculous prices. 5 keys or a Starbucks drink? I’d go with the drink. 25 keys or a Starbucks drink? I’d even begin to consider keys just because I like to open chests.
FYI I haven’t bought a key off gem store and I definitely will never do so at the current price so your overall claim that people who are complaining are those who got lousy drops from chests is very simplistic and erroneous.
You don’t buy keys, not interested in ever buying keys, yet you think it’s too expensive. That would be like me walking into Starbucks and tell them to lower their price to $1 a cup because I think it’s too expensive, even though I don’t drink coffee.
If you devalue the price of keys, then the “junk” items the chest drops that are also sold in the gem shop will also need to be devalued to stay competitive or they get replaced with true junk items that are useless for everyone. Newsflash, there are players who use those “junk” items that are dropped today and often it’s cheaper although random with a key.
So what you are really asking is for ANet to cut their primary source of income between releases which is the sale of gems with cash. Good luck with that.

I’m not thief only. My first 80 was a mesmer and I’m now leveling an elementalist.
RIP City of Heroes
I think action cam helps it a bit.
RIP City of Heroes
Today’s patch notes don’t seem like they nerfed thief so not sure the reason behind the rage quit. I also play thief for the better part of 3 years.

And 64-bit OS is required as well as a 64-bit CPU.

Funny, I had fun there last night. And the night before. Now maybe that’s because all the players who took WvW super seriously aren’t around anymore? Don’t know.
Lol. Your PvDoor escapades don’t interest me. You are obviously full of it. WvW is a pale shadow of what it use to be and the new maps are EMPTY ON ALL TIERS at all times.
HoT destroyed WvW, everyone who isnt’ a irrational fanboi knows that.
Me and a couple of others ran in our Tier 1 server borderlands map capturing shines and supply depots for an hour. Other capture announcements popped up every few minutes. Problem is the map is so huge and vertical that you can’t spot players from the other factions and it takes so long to get there when you see something taken that those who took it moved on. So lots of trades but few head to head clashes.
RIP City of Heroes
Over 200 chests. I sell the excess down to 200 at the end of the month.

Yes, they can whisper once every 30 seconds unless they are your friend (and also possibly you whisper back but I hadn’t tested this enough on my P4F account).
But if the whisperer is under level 10 in the race cities or under 35 in LA then they aren’t P4F account.
Either way, report and block, problem solved from them.
RIP City of Heroes
I like the collapsible nature of them. Not quite a light saber.
RIP City of Heroes
Easy fix, don’t play with those people.
Honestly, they made a form you have to fill out? What’s next a written test and an instructional video you must watch first?
Screw gear check, add in system check, can’t let anyone on a sub-par computer to participate because they may lag behind and drag down the group.

WvW DBL was dead again last night. EBG queue was too long. So yep, such a great experience again.
And those auto upgrades…
No this was on the new borderland maps. So much fun.

Why didn’t I see this thread when it came out?
RIP City of Heroes
I did think they mention that some bug fixes would only be released on the “regular” patch schedule now instead of the hot patches we got in the first 10 days after HoT.
Whether Raids is that patch remains to be seen.
RIP City of Heroes
That’s also why there aren’t vet or ruin dailies you can get anymore even though they still pop up on the WvW daily list. Desert isn’t Alpine and they really need to add the code to make the switch between these two smoother so stuff like the dailies don’t fall into the cracks.
RIP City of Heroes
Last time I think was at the end of August/begining of Sept during the anniversary sale. Traditionally there’s a New Year sale and possibly a Black Friday one. With HoT possibly bringing in new players who have none of this swag, we may see more frequent sales.
RIP City of Heroes
It was always pointless unless you spent all your skill points you got after 80 on the Mystic Forge since the trait system doesn’t use them anymore (thank Gods).
All that Level 80 does is lets you play in level gated areas and allows you to have better gear stats in areas in PvE where everyone is leveled up to 80.
RIP City of Heroes
I classify this in the same gambling category as CCG packs and capsule or blind box toys.
RIP City of Heroes
If you go in expecting to make money on them, you’re an idiot.
pulls out soap box
Black Lion Chests were created to be a gem shop sampler of mostly minor items with an average gem shop value similar to that of the price of a key.
So mainly boosters, minor services, maybe the occasional hair or total makeover kit, minis, a backpack skin, mail delivery thing, finishers. But they also spiked the store with tickets (roughly 1 in 50) and ticket scraps (roughly 1 in 3, need 10) that you can use to get black lion weapon skins. Some are very nice looking even. But the “price” for one ticket is statistically, on average, 1 in 25 but if you start with zero scraps, 29 keys averages out to be your first ticket. However with 29 keys/chests there’s a 30% chance you will not get a ticket or 10 or more scraps and a 26% chance of getting 2 or more so it works out to 1, on average. It works out over the long haul to 1 in 25 because of those leftover ticket scraps accumulate until you get 10 for a key.
You can do the math on the cost of that many keys in cash or gold and check out the prices per ticket for skins and realize quickly it’s a bad investment if you are going for tickets. Hence the idiot comment.
However, if you can remove that motivation from the equation and like the “secret toy surprise” at the bottom of your CrackerJacks, then they can be a fun, occasional thing to buy if keys are on sale. This last anniversary sale and keys twice, one was a straight 25% off and the other time was a single 5 pack at 75% off.
But if you are only in it for the ticket and scraps … just walk away.
RIP City of Heroes
Well map complete if you haven’t, at least go for the Hero Points. Core Tyria is easier to acquire HP than in HoT, at least you can solo them. This way you get a head start on your Elite Specialization.
There are Mastery points tied to Core Tyria Achievements that you will be awarded retroactively. The red buring eye thing icon is for core Tyria mastery points.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement#Categories
A fair number are tied to the personal stories for each race, LW season 2, dungeons and fractals. But it’s a starting point.
RIP City of Heroes
Back in June when they rolled out Specializations aka Traits 3.0, they abolished skill points and altered them into two “currencies”, Hero Points to unlock traits and skills and spirit shards that you use at the MF. As part of this in the basic game we no longer get anything leveling past 80. You get just enough Hero Points via leveling to unlock every skill and normal specializations traits at level 80.
However once you get HoT, XP charges up the mastery you picked and when full you can spend the number of mastery points to unlock that mastery. Mastery is account wide, all level 80s contribute and all characters benefit.
Also with HoT you can unlock your elite specialization once you are level 80 with every skill and specialization fully unlocked. Therefore without any of the Core Tyria (original game) Hero Challenges done, you start with 0 HP for your Elite Specialization. You need 250 aditional ones to fully unlock the Elite Specialization, there are roughly 210 in Core Tyria and each HP Challenge in HoT is now worth 10.

Buy ectos, salvage them, eat the luck and sell the dust I believe is the cheapest way to get Essence of Luck but you need a ton of it to go from 125 to 200, over 1.1 million EoL. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,500 ectos.

Luck is a long term benefit, attempting to shortcut it like short cutting everything designed to be a long term goal will cost you plenty.

I understand the need for coarse sand, I just don’t remember ever getting any before HoT, which was the last time I sifted fine sand.
Pardon my skepticism.
RIP City of Heroes
Isn’t silky sand RNG for nearly worthless? I don’t remember ever getting anything of value other than an occasional geode.
Or is this just a sarcastic post to bait all those dungeon runners who can’t handle the gold spigot being reduced to a third to throw money away? Can’t tell.

Well if you get the mastery there are new Karma vendors that are suppose to have some interesting stuff.

I never heared that i7 is faster in accessing more than 4 GB of RAM than an i5.
Or what exactly do you think is the difference that the 64-bit client makes one
64-bit processor better than another ?It was just that all the previous posts on this subject was published before the 64-bit client and I was not sure if a 64-bit client handles multi threading better then the 32-bit client in which case 6 cores(12 threads) would be better then 4(8 threads).
It doesn’t, it simply can access more than 4 GB of memory that reduces the occurrence of OOM crashes during large events.
RIP City of Heroes
I would say, from an i5-2500 to an i5-6600 it would be closer to 30-35% but it’ll cost you for a guts upgrade (CPU/Motherboard/Ram).
RIP City of Heroes
$5 or about 80-85 gold for up to 20 more slots. The $5 price is similar to additional character storage expansion from other MMO cash shops.
Personally the lack of the ability to move them from one character to another makes them not all that useful to me.
RIP City of Heroes
An SSD certainly improves general performance since SSDs have higher sequential bandwidth and vastly higher random bandwidth.
Obviously in game zoning time should improve and while playing there additional data is loaded on the fly so it’ll help there.
