Any way to replay PS cutscenes?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Belzebu.3912

Belzebu.3912

By yourself no.
You could try to find someone else that will do the PS step you want and then you can join, but the character in the cutscene won’t be you.

I know it is nearly impractical, but that is the only way I can see it happening.

You probed to remove the autoatack and start timing the hit?.

Not helping because 1) I am destroying my keyboard 2) I am destroying my finger and 3) I still get locked in unless I stop and let my auto attack rinse every 2 hits.

You shouldn’t “smash” the 1 key, you need to press at the same pace as the auto attack goes, then when you see that you need to evade you stop pressing the key.
It is a really hard task, but it is the only workaround so far, if you keep pressing the 1 key then a buffer of commands will be created and it will work just like if autoattack was on.

If you go to the ranger sub-forum yu’ll find A LOT of topics complaining and giving tips about the sword.

Rise of level cap is VERY unlikely to happen.
You can craft your ascended weapon without any worries at all.
And even if that ever happens, it would be in matter of years, not months.

EDIT: Just to let you know, in GW1 lvl 20 was the cap from the beginning until now.

No one said ranger is better off without pets. I am saying some people, including me, are better off without pet. If YOU think you are better off with your pets, DO IT, by all means.

No, he just stated an hypothesis, IF the petless option was better in dungeons for example, then it wouldn’t be a matter of personal preference, you would need to go petless in the dungeon, it is just like the current zerker set with sword, this combo IS the best option, if you don’t like it and prefer other set and weapon, well too bad you are out of the meta.

Actually I just missed that, dodge sure is a counter to everything, some invulnerability only prevent new conditions, but the ones on you will still be there causing damage, same with block.
But the idea is that there are passive and active defenses for both direct and condition damage, the suggested change would remove the passive direct damage defense (toughness) and nothing to replace it.

Currently you have Vit to rise your HP and Tou to rise your armor, you have invulnerability/block/dodge to counter direct damage, and cond cleanse for conditions.

If you changed Tou to not rise armor, how would you rise it? Heavy classes would have more advantage over the rest.

The Personal Story now unlocks every 10 levels, so after the Norn story step “The Last of the Giant Kings” your next will be open at lvl 20.
The golden hearts are objectives of the map, that isn’t related to your story.
You can go to the initial maps of the other races, since you are a Norn, go to Hoelbrak and to the west there is a portal that lead you to Lion’s Arch and from there you see many more portals to the cities of the other races.

Kinda … the thing with WoW in this case is that they are so big, that make those offers isn’t needed, many players will buy all the previous ones along with the new expansion just because it is WoW.
I remember offers like giving exp and items for players that was able to bring new players in a referral scheme, I think it is even a permanent feature of the game.

Anyway, I read on reddit and facebook many players asking if there is a trial for GW2 so they can test it before buying, this will help GW2 for sure.

"Maybe GW2 is not the game for you"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think most the times people use the “this is not the game for you” is when someone come and say things like “In WoW we have this and that”, “In TERA there was such thing”, or ideas like “add mounts”, “gives us hardcore content”, “make PK servers” and so on.

Those things are features that the ANet is trying to avoid and the game was not designed for that, so in those cases, this is not the game for you.

EDIT:

But we get the same reactions when we request features in GW1 that are absolutely missing or lacking in GW2, such as more skills, templates, elite dungeons (8+ team), etc

I usually don’t see this reaction for those suggestions.

Open world: air + fire or bloodlust + fire (you’ll be fighting groups of mobs often so the AoE of the fire sigil is better than the air sigil)

Elementarist need to keep switching attunements to be effective.

Also, I love the idea of prestige classes, in D&D it worked really well, it added a flavor to the regular classes and here in GW2 I think it could work for sure.
The mechanic I see would be add new traits and a few utilities unique to the prestige class and maybe even unlock a weapon based in the prestige you pick, like ranger → duelist could unlock sword off hand and dagger mh.

If you are a casual gamer, why do you want a prestige skin that doesn’t offer any advantage?

Did you seriously just claim these were prestige items? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Cost can set something up as a prestige item, even I would consider a Maserati a prestige item, but these items aren’t barred by cost nearly as much as they are barred by RNG. They’re more like a draw for either menial 1980s commutermobile or a Maserati that you have a chance of getting if you pay a random amount of money for it.

Expensive items (BL skin or the Maserati) are prestigious items, both can be acquired by RNG (there could be a promotion that gives a Maserati) and that wouldn’t make it any less prestigious.
The only difference is that the BL skin is “built” from RNG and then sold for a high price (offer/demand), while the car is built in small numbers with expensive material and then added a even higher profit margin based only on the prestige.

IMO fractal skins and legendaries for example are more prestigious, but BL skins also are.

Also, you can use in game gold to buy gems, so save the gold you earn and then trade it.
Another thing is key farm, you get keys doing the lvl 10 Personal Story, there are many updated videos and guides about that.
GW2 is very casual friendly, but the game doesn’t need to be 100% casual focused.

Ok, since you are a developer lets talk same language.
Let suppose a few situations:
1 – the algorithm is updated on the run, every time a RNG function is called to consult the drop base a select is made on the forum posts made by the account where the content of the post is positive.
That consult would be REALLY slow, consult in a DB using partial texts is very consuming and not plausible at all.

2 – A DB job/query runs daily or even weekly updating a table, giving a weight in the account RNG based in the former posts of said account.
While it would be a bit more plausible by the develop side, such query would take ages to finish and even if that query was made in parts it would be too outdated almost all the time.

3 – There is a trigger on the forum post that update a table in the DB to change a weight in the RNG function for your account.
This would be the best of the scenarios, but still it assume an insanely high demand of the DB and would make the forum very slow.

Also, all those scenarios are only even possible assuming that the RNG function reads an information linked to your account, and if that was actually made, the DB workload would be too high, the RNG function need to be called w/o a too specific DB select, only information like time, account name, position in game, AP and so on, those infos are acquired w/o a DB consult.

Do you see a way where your theory could be actually made?
EDIT: Also in a secure way, cookies and client side stored information can be easily “hacked”

Back to the initial programming of the game… It’s not a basis of “how much good you can give a player” but " how much good you can give a company"

A programmer is not invested in the player as much as himself.

Take for instance, people paid on commission for how much they sale. They are not paid on how happy their customer is, but on how happy their boss/company is with them.

So as a company I would pay someone lots of money to develop a code that would keep precursors at a rate which kept them in high demand (supply vs demand). If the programmer could code it so that no more than X amount of dusks would be out at a time would ensure the price would force people to buy gems to convert to gold.

Thus, the programmer “made his dues” by developing a good algorithm to keep supply low and demand high.

Now this is plausible.
A code that for example limits 10 dusks a day and after that no matter or what it won’t drop, is ok, but a code that is updated by if you are making compliments on the forums is plain ridiculous.

Really, people actually think THAT far?
The is absolutely no chance at all that the in-game RNG algorithm use user forum semantic content towards compliment as variable.

But it is one HECK of a funny theory. I’m still giggling.

Conspiracy posts in the forums rise my giggling rate IRL :P

EDIT:

Just like casinos never cheat people.

Or carnivals don’t have games that are “unwinnable”

Or by Carnies that lie to your face…. I did exactly what one said to do to win his game… then he made up some ridiculous excuse as to why I didn’t win.

I have been a game programmer and know just how easy it would be to do things behind the scenes to influence algorithms.

Where something as simple as a Customer Service person could use a hidden “+1” or “-1” system behind the scenes that triggers a increase/decrease of .01 (or something) to the internal algorithm.

Simply, a * b = c
a – original algorithm
b – sway of votes
c – standard RNG score

OMG! Are you really serious?
Let me laugh even harder then.

For dungeon/fractal I would suggest the guardian and mesmer for some specific paths.
For WvW if you think in roaming, thief and rangers are really good, but I suggest going with your warrior, it is more flexible between zerg and roam, but the build is usually different between them.
For PvP rangers and mesmers are good (I personally like guardian a lot but they are stronger in dungeons), I’m not experienced with thieves in pvp so I can’t make an opinion in that aspect.
I didn’t mention necro in any part because they are in an “ok” spot in all game aspects, except for dungeons, there necros are just bad.

Devs posted already that perma-stow options won’t happen, rangers are supposed to be the pet class in GW2 (Not that I agree 100%, but that is what was said by a dev).

Search for the Ranger CDI in the profession balance sub-forum, the post is there.
