It is called “Action Combat”.
Many MMOs claim to have it but it is usually half truth.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
LOL GW2 aggressiveness from players feels like a warm breeze compared to other competitive games.
Play LoL, DOTA, Star Craft 2, any CoD or CS , and pretty much any game with online PvP, if you can’t handle GW2 well you’ll cry like a baby in those games.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
All I see here is an OCD problem, not an actual game mechanic issue.
You just don’t want to apply a skin over an ascended backpiece because you feel that you are ruining the item, even knowing you can get that skin back at any time.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yeah, frostspotter is required in dungeons, anywhere else frost spirit usefulness drops by a lot.
MH axe against 1 target isn’t good, against 3 targets is good, against 2 targets is great, since it bounces 2 times in the main target so the DPS pretty much doubles.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Not running frostspotter just means you’re either uneducated or a kitten.
That I agree.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I use real names for my characters, so I don’t have that kind of problem.
My asura eng was the only exception, but I knew it would, I tried to name her Oola (unavailable) then Oolah (unavailable) and finally Oogah.
But yeah, I don’t think a name should be “removed” from a character, what if 2 years later the player want to play again and find that the name he picked ins’t available anymore. Also, character name is part of the account info, if you need to recover lost password, change e-mail, retrieve account name using game key, all use character name as account information.

Oh geez, we could finish this dungeon in 10 mins but it took almost 12 minutes, THANKS AXE, you ruined the day of a whole group!
The difference of having GS/sword+x and GS/axe+x is barely noticeable in a dungeon run, even less with FGS available.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
About the carnivorous appetite OP thing, I was thinking outside PvP, stacking food + SotW + TU + regens + sigil of blood + the suggested carnivorous appetite rangers would actually have too much healing (in combat), but in PvP the 1s CD would be totally fine.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I always liked mh axe and I will always keep loving it. I even went for Frostfang without a second thought.
With the update I’ll probably give LB/axe+axe a try instead of my current GS/axe+axe and axe/axe+wh setup.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Rangers are great in WvW roaming (AKA solo), look for trapper and cond/regen builds in the ranger sub forum.
And yeah, rangers are not particularly good at ranged fight, the future update will help a bit in that matter, but till then dual bows is a no no.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Just to complement, interrupt also barely affect thieves, since the skill have no cooldown and the initiative isn’t used if interrupted, so they can recast immediately.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Actually, the accessories you can get for I think 12 commendations, that’s like 2 weeks of guild missions that take a max of 2 hours total to do, unless you’re part of some megaguild that takes like 4 hours to do one set of weekly missions.
Oh yeah, I forgot about those, but still, it is a ~15 days time gate.

Look if you didn’t put your pet as in guard (the 3rd icon being blue), if so, click it again and the pet will be in aggressive again and will attack your target again.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You seriously think Ascended Trinket Crafting won’t have time gates? What game have you guys been playing?
I’m sensing some link between 500 Jeweler and Legendary Trinkets….
Sure it will, but consider that the cheapest ascended trinket currently requires 25 days to get (except the fractals one).
And yeah, legendary trinkets and jewel lvl 500 have a good chance to be related.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Dang … this grammar …
Answering the overall of what I could understand. No, there is no new legendary weapon announced.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Your lack of ranger is disturbing
You already have a medium armor human, so I suggest a Norn Ranger.
You’ll be able to find the pets across the world, the gameplay isn’t as dull as people makes it seem to be, specially if you go as a melee ranger.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I suggest you yo take a look or make a post in your class sub forum, also be a bit more specific, like you want to join a zerg/gvg WvW fights, or be a roamer in WvW?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yes, it is.
Similar ideas was suggested many times here, things like a button to show where your cursor is, like Windows do. Brighter/different cursor color. Button to move your cursor to the center of the screen.
In general, there is an obvious agreement that the in game cursor have problems since many complain and even more people agree with that complain.

I think ascended jewelcrafting should NEVER be a part of the game.
For some of us… like myself… saved laurels for months to get trinkets, and some rings…
While nothing is fair… I still believe this type of change only caters to new players. They don’t have to experience the time gated laurel savings that the rest of us had to do.
I currently have 330 laurels and over 200 guild commendation, and I think that ascended jewelcrafting would be great.
Keep in mind that there are many stats combination not available as asc trinkets, would be nice for the crafters be able to wear things like assassin, sentinel, dire and so on, asc trinkets.
Sure, the materials needed should be viable to not make craft an obvious bad choice.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Only armor and HP starting pool depend on the class, rest is dependant on armor, weapons, trinkets and traits. How the hell did you menage to obtain such stats?
Traits is the trick here.
Warrior have the highest HP poll, in the heavy armor, with traits where part of your power is given as VIT so if you get really high power you get even more defense, and quite easy access to fury, might and crit chance, sounds reasonable, right?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Then create a new character, if that is so important, tomes of knowledge and EotM trains makes hitting lvl 80 really fast and ascended gear are acc bound, exotics are really easy to get anyway, and skins are also acc bound, so you lose virtually nothing recreating a new toon.
World completion, soulbound equipment, trait and skill unlocks, and leveled crafting disciplines are “virtually nothing”?
Yes, in my opinion it is.
I can’t think of a soulbound item that would be hard to get again, if needed at all.
Get the WPs again would be the only downside of make a new toon, and the skills … meh just a price to change your race, with a gem store item you would need to pay a good amount anyway.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I also picked OoW because I’m a GW1 player and who wouldn’t join that ancient demon hunter spy order?
Besides, I have different toons in other orders:
Norn Ranger – Whispers
Norn Mesmer – Vigil
Asura Eng – Priory
Asura Thief – Whispers
Human Necro – Whispers
Charr Warrior – Priory
Sylvari Guardian – Vigil
Sylvari Ele – Vigil

Well what I would do:
- critical damage to marksmanship and condition duration to skirmishing
-combine agility training with pet prowess into a single trait and move it to the master level
-move quick draw to adept level
-carnivorous appetite affects ranger as well. ICD of 1 second
-new minor trait “random cool name”- convert 1 condition into a boon on weapon swap (ICD 9 seconds)
-opening strike refreshes on weapon swap as well. Pet opening strike refreshes on Pet swap as well. There, i fixed it :p
That carnivorous appetite under 1s ICD would be a bit OP, 3~5s sounds more reasonable.
Everything else would be just amazing.

Moas, canines, porcines and drakes have 1/4s attacks, but the damage they can do compared to birds and felines 1/2s attacks doesn’t compensate the use for the RaO.
Your best bet for pure damage is to get a feline and let it do its job, or use a raven and cast RaO after the quickening screech (the long swiftness skill) and cast F2 right after.
EDIT: You may try Hyenas, for RaO it looks like a good idea, but personally I prefer a feline and a drake as my overall pet choices.

no plz no houses. forget it!
Well, I don’t mind housing at all, and I personally don’t see any down side of having it.
Guild Hall is something I would personally prefer over player housing.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
That isn’t Anet fault, it is a matter of L2P.
You really think that your glass zerker build would work forever against the whole pve?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yes, it is possible to be, but not in a near future.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Do mobs in this game have crit mit ?
10% crit mit mob vs 100% crit player = 90% cc so soonly been playing a few weeks been playing eq/eq2 for 14 years so kinda stuck in there way of talking
Not that we know of.
If that existed, then over 100% crit chance would be useful.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
For specific builds/guides, look in the class sub forum here, each one have some guides or make a topic there asking for a specific question, like “Builds for solo pve” in the necro forum.

Would be hilarious to get ranger and necros as the new dungeon meta haha

If i trusted the wiki, I would not be on the forum.
lol I can relate to that at some parts of the wiki, but all in all it is very reliable.
Well … time to sit and wait a dev to reply, eh?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Besides the link I provided, the wiki also have all the formulas to calculate damage, crit chance and everything.
IF the game had a mechanic where over 100% crit chance would add bonus damage of some sort it would be described there, but the game just use the crit chance to calculate if the hit will be a crit or not, from 100% and beyond the answer will be always “yes”.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
at least, according to another player… either give me your source of information, or leave it to the admins to answer. okay?
GW2 Wiki
“Minimum critical chance is 4% and max is 100%.”
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
(edited by Belzebu.3912)
Currently 119% crit chance means that you are wasting 399 (19 * 21) precision points that could go elsewhere.
EDIT: It is like condition duration, you CAN get over 100% but the game just ignore anything over that.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Well, he was comparing to other classes, and I just pointed that we also have plenty of options with many other requirements, each situation and build calls for a different approach.
With LB, endurance + boon + eagle eye looks great with hardly any down time, or instead of the boon bonus get the future RtW and with the attack speed you get even more benefit from the endurance + eagle eye.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
For dungeons it is very likely that the boss will have some sort of cripple/immob/chill from other players and from your pet so GS can get the same benefit as the sword.
In my opinion the GS will just get a bit of buff + the new trait and sword will just have an easier access of the new trait bonus.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Rangers have bonus damage on, full endurance, flanking, above 90% HP, with boon, and after update against cripple/immob/chill targets, and some builds can get 3 of the current 4 at the same time.
I’m not even counting specific weapon bonuses, like eagle eye, 2h training and honed axes.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
In the hunts I listed above, we were made to run around Tyria to fetch different items.
Get the Bog Skale Fin and the Skree Wing for the Moa Chick quest was a bit annoying, but far from the current one, but on the bright side, you can just buy it and exchange time/annoyance for gold
All in all this new scavenger hunt is great, I’m sure they will tune the next ones based on our feedback.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Well … maybe later an armor can be an option, this is the beginning/mid of season 2.
I’m curious to see the final form of that back piece.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
In zergs yes, since rangers doesn’t have good group support and when you offer decent group support you won’t be able to deal much damage, and when dealing damage you have bad AoE options, resuming rangers doesn’t have anything a zerg group seeks.
For roaming rangers are among the best classes imo.
EDIT: But with the axe buff, GS #2 range, signet and Entangle change, our WvW QoL in zergs will improve.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
(edited by Belzebu.3912)
Oh yeah, mechanically WvW roaming is close to sPvP, it is a good way to practice rotations and other classes.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Maguuma Wastes was the area that I wanted to see the most, it already started and I hope to go deeper there, and Crystal Desert was the 2nd place I wanted to see the most (followed by Elona, Cantha and Charr Homelands).
I think we will go there eventually, there is SO much potential to epicness across that gate that Anet can’t just ignore it.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You mainly need to try to survive as long as possible (more meat to soak damage from others and a bit of damage is better than no damage when dead), if you can add spotter then do, but not really needed, there are other rangers there for that, also people will usually expect just healing spring from you.
If you stay at the back line of the zerg to use your LB, then you can go with a more selfish build for sure, and even change HS to TU if you want.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Umm LB + roaming usually isn’t a good combination, most of times LB as roaming is to try to surprise burst your enemy but with sub gear you won’t burst anything.
Look for condition/regen builds, those are less reliant on gear and works really well for your roaming.
Try to tag a long with a zerg in the beginning just to familiarize with the people, try to get some tips and recognize the map, then begin to follow the zerg from a bigger distance and fight the enemies around your zerg, after a while you’ll have confidence and knowledge enough to roam freely.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
It will be a SoS check fest after the update.
LB #2 vs Axe #5 in WvW: LB with SoS on lives, LB with SoS off dies (along with some other glass projectile classes), simple as that in the initial clash.
