Again, valkyrie vs solider is just unneeded survablity vs damage. there is same power + critdamage with valkyrie, so why go solider? increase your EHP? HAHAA, you are an thief, you DONT rely on EHP to survive.
Critdamage outperforms toughness! valkyrie armor + zerker everything else, than you can run stack sigils, 30 CS, and consumeables to buff your critchance, dont listen to wish, he is an awful thief
You only carry two weapons? if you are a pve player you shuld be able to afford more than 1 of each weapon you use.

Soldiers with Berserkers offers more damage and defense than Valkyrie with Berserkers, no matter what weapon set you are using, or what your traits look like.
You cannot make critical hit damage damage worth more than critical hit chance in any way with any sort of balanced build. The only way you could make C Damage worth more is if you used a lot of knights gear that would increase your precision and not your C Damage. (Which by the way is very bad, because Power is the most useful stat for damage output, and you want Power as the main stat on every piece of gear)
These two posts by me explain damage calculations, diminishing returns, and show exactly why Soldiers+Berserkers wins for damage when building for the same amount of EHP compared to using any Valkyrie gear.

But ignore my caltraps, I was trying them out for a bit to see how well theyd do, turned out most people were using Lyssa runes and Lemongrass so I got rid of them.+1 for correct gear placement.
Youre super cool.Candied Dragonroll would do better for food though, and its vastly cheaper, unless you take 0 damage when you fight people (which is most likely not true) You should look at Oils too, they probably add more damage than Stones since your crit rate is under 50%.
You shouldn’t use Valkyrie, Ghost, you should use more Zerker + Soldier pieces. Look for Wish’s “building a better D/D Thief” thread for all of his math and stuff which shows why Zerker + Soldier is optimal.

D/P is definivlity on the top right now by no competion at all right now, I belive P/P might see some more play, due to them hopefully doin the changes for pistol #2. D/P is probilary gonna sink, due to get nerfed, S/D will probilary sink, but not much due to shaving it down a bit. I actually belive all weapons will fall down on around same usefulness to be honest, atleast after ppl get used to it. Some weapons will of course be played less for some areas and such, for example d/d is never used for spvp, but really good for pve, and high skillcap wvwvw
Ppl of course will want to stick with their weapons, but over time i think things will even out, maybe d/d a bit lower as usual, due to lacking permastealth and is a stealth based build, HOWEVER d/d is one of the best weaponsets for wvwvw i run it all the time, ive done 1v6 with it so its kind of good!

Hey, im a wvwvw human d/d thief from far shiverpeaks, i saw the tread and tought hey il come with some answers, so here you go.
so well, the good d/d thieves use the autoattack to determine revealed, cast cloak and daggre just after one chain of autoattack. Backstab is allways better if you need high damage, however if you need some quick easy to hit damage use a heartseeker or two. but il never reccomend use more than 2 hs at once, unless its for escape. Hs is never that good when your foe is over 50 %, and try to carry heal in shadows, shadowstep, shadowrefuuge and shadowsignet, if you got traveler runes you can use assasin signet or somthing else, for example shadowsignet if you need a really long jump. but id just stick with somthing easy, a good way to open a fight is to look for the sqishyest target, then precast cloak and dagger + steal (click cloak an dagger then steal right after), after that you follow up with a backstab from behind, then you do a autoattack restealth, then you adapt to situation if you are in trouble and are getting nuked, you cloak and dagger once, then wait out stealth and do it once more, then you backstab + hs. if they dont adapt them selves just do another backstab at stealth right after your first revealed. sometimes i love to use 4, for cripple against high moblity builds, sword + greatsword warriors anyone? XD But nice to see others try to repick the cool d/d set, you might think why play d/d? becuse the meta which is D/P may seem better by first eyelook, but if you go close into it you will know why, becuse d/p will way often do heartseekers, and what cant you do during an animation? DODGE, and you know how crucial dodges is in this game? it the butter. but cool. cya
Ok well, thief benefits from highest single target damage (yes i dare say it) , high evasion and escapeablity. We are the best class on groupfight bosses. but we are really weak if we get caught in AOE. but if you play thief right for dungeons you can make it work. and really there is no metabuild for thief in dungeons. adjust for the dungeon atm. i allways carry two daggers a sword and a bow
