Gold seller boasting about precursors

I’d say the over $1,000.00 real world price of Twilight, even though circumstantial, is enough evidence for me to at least question whether or not gold-selling companies might be manipulating the market. After all, this is what they do in games they thrive in, raise the prices on things so more people feel the pressure and need to buy their gold rather than make it. To say that even the possibility of this occurring isn’t happening, is naive at best.

Possible Link State Power Management problems

Help anyone! I’m having an issue with framerates with my video card. I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 660 video card and I can get over 60fps at the highest settings. I know about the PCI Express settings in the advanced section of the power management for Windows 7 and I have set them all to off even though only the one selected should have any effect.

My problem is this, there will be times (and I do seem to get a visual stutter before hand) where my video card will suddenly only get me framerates in the teens. I check the power setting (the Link State Power Management setting) and its still set to off. However, if I apply minimum to this setting and apply, then back to off and apply, my framerates jump back up. This leads me to believe this setting is somehow reverting to a setting where Windows is limiting the power to my card even though the setting itself hasent changed.

Does anyone know a permanent fix for this, its frustrating to have to play with these settings in the middle of play. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Our guild is having the same problems with the email system. We send mats back and forth depending on who’s working on which crafting profession. Since gold spammers do everything by bot, the only people this affects is us.

In Guild Wars 1 there were so many holiday events you could do solo, it seems like Guild Wars 2 is all about 5 person dungeons as holiday events. Where did the solo content go? I don’t like dungeons, even easy ones.

After reading the post from Chris Whiteside I just want to say thank you so much for taking the time to reply to such a hot topic right now! With so many MMOs being all about the gear grind, and many gating content through gear, its scary when we read the term “item progression”.

We’re looking from the outside and have no idea what part of the complete design this plays. Speaking for myself, I just LOVE this game very much! I have been with Guild Wars for seven years and I’m very glad to hear you have no intentions of straying from your design philosophies for Guild Wars 2.

I know there are still bugs to patch and bots to catch, but so far I’m amazed by Guild Wars 2! I think you guys did one hell of a job both with the game and continuously communicating with us even when it may be more advantageous (or maybe just safe) to keep quiet and hope things blow over! Thank you for being my most trusted company and for finding a way to reinforce that feeling every single time my confidence waivers!

I played in the betas. I wanted this game so badly, I couldn’t even imagine how it must have felt to be a GW1 player and waited years for it. And now this.

I used to watch the manifesto video every week during beta. I would just sit there and say ‘thank you’ to Arenanet, even though they couldn’t hear me. It would bring me to tears to think of being given a game that finally…finally!…broke the mold.

At cap level everyone would be equal. Equal. WvW equal. PvE equal. Dungeons equal. Everyone. Gear was for looks, not stats.

I am stunned. For those folks that want gear progression…that say it’s only for the dungeon, so it’s ok (even though it’s also gated now)…
Will you take off that gear outside the dungeon?
Will you not wear it in WvW?
Oh, and all the folks with legendary that will get bumped up now…will you not bring that to WvW?

Gear progression affects the whole game. I am not in a guild (except my own) so far, but in other games, there was always pressure from the guild to “go on the raid” so you can “get better gear”. I am over it. I am sick of it. I am so sad this is happening. I’m sure watching the manifesto right now would bring me to tears again…but not for the same reason.

I played Guild Wars 1 for almost seven years now. My story was much like yours, but I’ve been addicted to this game for much longer. I have been saying thank you to ArenaNet in a much louder way, by bragging about this game to anyone I can get to listen (and some who don’t want to listen). I’m currently going for a degree in business management and have chosen ArenaNet and Guild Wars 2 for several assignments just so I can expose more people to Guild Wars 2.

When information first came out about the colors no longer being account unlocks and the dye packs being account bound and random I was very worried and asked them to please change the colors back to account unlock. They didn’t go that far, but they came back more than half-way by allowing you to sell dyes you already have or don’t want. I guess I’ll wait and see what happens here. I’m going to hope this is still the ArenaNet that I look up to, brag about, and dream of working for. If gear grind is added just to satisfy the players from some “other” mmos who came in here, flew to max level, and then whined about there being nothing to do and left, then ArenaNet will be going after the “WoW” crowd over their core fans. I hope the numbers are large enough to justify that kind of move.

I think they will go instanced with player and guild housing but I’d love an option for you to choose to make your instance public so others can enter your instanced home even if you’re offline. It’d be fun to show off your creativity, and a driving force with gem sales for “epic” items that you would want to show off to the world.

I think there’s a HUGE opportunity for cash item sales if you allow a lot of creativity to make custom player and guild housing. I hope ArenaaNet takes full advantage of this and offer us a lot of customization with housing. I’d happily wait another year or even two for a robust housing system rather than something restrictive.

Marketing tie-in with the tv show Face Off

The 3rd season is almost over so I doubt they could get it into the 3rd season. It would have to be the 4th season if there is one. It would be cool because I watch Face Off but I’m guessing the producers of Dishonored had to fork some cash over to get that spot and I’m not sure if ArenaNet is willing to do that.

Thank you for your feedback! I don’t know if there’s a monetary contribution needed or not, but I definitely think it would be money well spent, and I’d love to see some GW characters brought to life. Season 4 is already in taping so they might not be able to do something until season 5. I still think it would be great advertising, maybe and expansion tie-in?

First I apologize if this is in the wrong area.

I’m a huge fan of your game, I’m also a big fan of the reality show Face Off. This season one of the shows had the contestants creating characters from the game Dishonored. It gave these artists a unique challenge and gave the game a lot of free publicity.

I’d love to see ArenaNet do something like this with Face Off. It would be awesome to see the races come to life and it would get the Guild Wars 2 brand some airtime on a widely viewed television show.

On Botting and What We’re Doing About It

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BilboBaggins.5620

You should let people know that they should report any suspicious people they think might be bots and not take matters into their own hands. My son fell asleep at his computer, and because he didn’t respond to some people’s whispers, they aggrod mobs and brought them to his character and rezzed him upon death so he would incur armor damage. At level 70, the repair expense is no small matter. I believe this type of activity is greifing and should be discouraged. Report someone if you think they’re a bot, let ArenaNet decide, don’t take matters into your own hands please.

I agree, but I’d also like to see this go back to the “1 run = 1 token for 1 armor piece”. I’d rather run a very difficult dungeon 6 times to earn a set of armor than run a moderately difficult dungeon 60 times to earn a set. Isn’t it funny how mmo grind oozes it’s way in no matter how hard we try to keep it out?

No player to player trade mechanic = scamming runs rampant. Its just a pity ArenaNet cant see that. Even when its happened in other MMO’s.

There was P2P trading in Guild Wars 1, complete with a trade window, and unsuspecting people still got scammed. The trading post has everything sell-able available now. I may be in the minority here, but I like the fact that P2P trading isn’t in the game, WTS spam in chat is annoying.

The trading post is where you should be buying all your items. I wouldn’t trust P2P trading at all. Guild Wars 1 had a trade panel and people still found ways to scam the unsuspecting. Plus, I love that the trading post will eliminate the WTS spam in local chat.

Like the title implies, I’d love to see a light armor set that has at least a little metal in it. Most of the light armor looks more like town clothes. I think the only light armor in the game that looks more like what I’d want is the charr cultural light armor.

Maybe you could allow transmutation stones to capture the look of any armor in game (without their stats of course), and restrict those types of sets for PvE use only?

Even if it’s only available through the gem store, could you please consider adding a bad-*ss set of light armor. Thanks for reading this.

P.S. I’m LOVING your game, great work all!!!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank ArenaNet for allowing identified dyes (even from gem store purchases) to be sold on the trading post. I was one asking for dye unlocks to be account wide. I think this system is an awesome compromise that allows for continued income from gem store purchases and still allowes us to profit from duplicate or unwanted dyes. Thanks so much for listening to us and coming up with solutions we both can live with!

How are you supposed to make all that money??

BilboBaggins.5620

I rarely play the market as I have a bad track record, but I can definitely give you a good pointer this early in the game. Watch the trading post, watch it carefully! At this point in the game you will see that the items at the level of the majority of players is at the lowest price.

That’s why low level items are on the rise a bit, and items in the 30-40 range are low. There’s a glut of items for sale where the majority of the playerbase is. I’d buy green sets that are at a relatively low price because of availability and wait for the majority of players to move beyond those levels. Then you will see a rise in the prices as there are fewer available items, and a larger demand for them from newer players or old players creating alts.
