This is ultimately another putting the cart before the horse deal. Reorganization should only happen if and when they decide to get a real piece of forum software. Consolidating so much into general is not more efficient, not for anyone, especially without a proper search and category sub-forum system.
This is it—the software is and always been incredibly poor ( as acknowleged by various devs that its’ functionality is lacking in a number of areas). It should have been Anets priority to aquire better forum software/platform before any kind of consolidation and removal of categories. Bottom line—-they will do what they want regardless of the communities concerns (with forums or the game). Look how they the suggestions about maintaining the BLTC threads fell on deaf ears. IMHO, the decision had been made and written in stone well before introducing them to the community.

10 thumbs up ! Account bound after one successful completion please. And Add skip dialogue also (to all storys)
check the ip
(in chat with /ip)
If you see 161 in the address—you will always have a bad connection.
Restart the game and hope you get placed on a different server.
The thread continues to grow and nothing to fix it.
Seems they are ignoring all the various lag threads.
Server .161 is always bad.
Based on all the Anet reponses to this and similar threads, I have reached the conclusion that it will never be addressed or fixed. What ever the reason.
3 characters—-3 100% map completion.
This thread is so large it should be a CDI. I’m concerned something buried on page 6 is lost to the annals of time.
CDIs would be mostly to start discussions on areas the game could improve on. Since there’s no real issue with RNG, except for the misconception that “random” = getting what you want, there’s no need for a CDI.
No real issue with RNG—LMAO. Misconception-ROTFLMAOS.
I assume you are an outlier on the positive side. Maybe review the thread in its’ entirety with an open mind.
Please stop spreading these kinda rumors that only add to the confusion. I’ve currently been on a .68 and a .122 server and both where equally laggy as their other servers. It seem to be related to prime time, so probably an overloaded switch somewhere, like the last time it happened to this game.
Not a rumor, it has only happened to me (and many others) on a 161 as well as out side of prime time.
Others servers have not been a problem in my experience, just this specific server (other than the ddos attacks). Perhaps if you are having problems on a variety of servers the problem lies elsewhere for you.
Checked out the various links to threads about this.
Obviously the powers that be don’t seem to give a darn and appear to be ignoring the concerns.
and now Canada!!
The server xx.xxx.161…..
Lag and disconnects.
Full ip doen’t matter Healix
Yes it does, for debugging purposes. I assumed it was 64.25.38.161, but GW2 uses more than just 64.25.38, so I thought there could be more than one, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
While hopping servers a few days ago, I got onto the 161 server in Silverwastes and experienced the lag spikes. Chat was also commenting on the dreaded 161 server. I didn’t bother testing the connection however (ping, wireshark, etc), but from what I saw, the server would stop sending packets every few minutes, though it would still receive them. It’s likely that the server either has bad hardware, a bad configuration or is simply overloaded. It could just be a rarely used overflow server (compared to the others) for example, so they might not have a big enough incentive to fix it.
Thanks for sharing possible reasons for the malfunctioning server.
You are right, you would need the whole ip to test. I simply meant the rest of the ip wasn’t necessary with regards knowing if you were on the dreaded server. If you saw the 161—you are on it and will experience problems.
As for incentive, if it is broken, for what ever reason, Anet has customers using it and really have no choice but to address it.
I assume the only way players can deal with it is to see what server they are on when they start the game, then shut down and retsart the game if they are on 161 and hope that they will join a different server.
/ip in chat and if it has xx.xx.161 in it, you are on it—-it has a rep for being a laggy server, lots of discconnects, spikes etc. Many players seem to be aware of it.
Full ip doen’t matter Healix
Disconnected during golem, got back to get chest, dc’d next at Maw—-lost chests and award as well as super laggy.
Left the game entirely/ restarted and got on different server (again used /ip in chat)
xx.xxx. 15 something and lag, spikes dc’s were gone.
Why is the …..161 server so bad and most players seem to know how bad it is??
Why is anet not doing anything about it if true?
This thread is so large it should be a CDI. I’m concerned something buried on page 6 is lost to the annals of time.
+1, Sad to say but it’s likely all ready forgotten.
It might as well be closed. Sorry some decision here have made me see the glass as half empty instead of half full.
Yeah, it really doesn’t matter if a WP is close by, I’ve noticed. Players will lay there dead and ask for a res if there’s an ongoing event.
My only issue is how people actually pause and let you go to defeated instead of helping when you are just down. I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen and experienced this. Rezing someone from defeated takes way longer than if they are just down.
As for me, I’ll wait a bit to see if a rez is possible but if people are dropping all around me I don’t want their deaths on my conscious.
So I just waypoint and run back. Simple world boss rules in effect in my opinion.
Peace.
if the run is less than 30s I waypoint and immediately run back because I think I can still catch the event and be there when it finishes.
But if anet keeps doing these zones with limited/contested waypoints that require longer runs? I’d almost rather hope for a res since it’ll take longer to run back and probably miss the event.
+1!!!!! forced longer runs because of limited/closed WP only enhances the problem.
Just poor design/game play decisions.
Number 2—- give laurels ( or something signficant for a set number of res’. And not some stupidly high number to restrict success, (a common anet practice btw)).
LOL—-Need a -1.
Mods please merge with other SAB thread.
The amount of QQing here in opposition to mounts is appalling.
No it’s not—-many many many DO NOT WANT MOUNTS ADDED!!!
So NO!
Mods please merge with the dead closed thread where it belongs.
Played from day 1, 8k hours in game. I’ve had one precursor drop in all that time.
Precursors are not “dropping everywhere”.
This^^^ e’nuff said. Played from the beginning and not one precursor drop. OP is way off.
Always some in Metrica Province, Akk WP up on the floating island.
Just stupid design decision and then to add insult to injury you can’t skip the diologues.
BORING!
Unlock for all alts!!!
U guys who complain its too hard should do the following :
LEARN THE MECHANICS OF THE BOSS
end of story
took me 10 minutes to figure out the mechanics and from there its easyWhy do people feel the need to post answers like this?
The CAPS were a nice touch, though.
Ditto!! +1
They didn’t change the game mechanic and the boss is not OP in any possible way.
You can AFK during the fight and still win without a scratch. How is that OP?
I am solo playing my story instance, and you say I can AFK and the final boss will be defeated.
Ya —right.
I think what Blude means is that totally changing the mechanics of the game for a boss battle is not the best idea.
It happens a lot in single player games, and it often sucks. It implies that the main game was too easy, and rather than fix the main game to be challenging, they threw the normal mechanics out the window for the boss fight.
OP Boss fights also mean that every major villain has to be some sort of titanic monster – like the holographic Scarlet, which means the writers get painted into a corner with respect to character development.
Yep—you got it!
They stated that, starting season 2, living story would be end-game content (ie harder than lower level content).
If this is end game content, I shouldn’t see a blue or green drop, they should all be high lvl as well as t6 mats dropping.
And I don’t care for the final boss, no boons restriction.
Changing the nature of the game by forcing you to get rid of boons is just a poor design decision.
I promise that constructive discussion and criticism are far more likely to make a difference than passive-aggressive comments.
LOL—Ditto.
But really, as an outlier——RNG, as it works in this game, is very frustrating.
Hopefully you can come up with a way for those that don’t decent drops as well as those that get multiple precusor drops.
How about This Thread—-Will it make any difference what so ever? Discuss
Sprocket nodes and the sprocket harvesting tool, well worth the investment but You can’t buy the pick anymore. And Quartz too, much better if you don’t care for Dry Top.
There has been soooooo much added/changed for better or for worse. You best check the patch notes/dulfy/google etc. Way to much to explain here. Hope you enjoy the new hand holding leveling system!!! Many will say postive things, many will say negative things. Both sides have very legitmate concerns.
You will have to purchase the 1st and 2nd episodes of the new living story if you haven’t logged in for a second to get them free when they were active if you want them.
It is clearly an oversight.
So you talked to dev or you are part of the the team????
It is your opinion only.
Mine is it’s working as intended.!!!
Offair has it right!!
Yep rangers can give commands to their pets even when theyre downed. Just like a thief can port or whatever being downed and eles can use mistform? to get to another position.
Working as intended and if you have troubles with the pet ress, simply put a banner in the rangers kitten .
+1 —truth!!!!
And Again, it appears only to bother you. I’ve been playing a ranger for over 2 years and this has never been considered a problem before( that I can recall) and if it has it’s been dismissed since it is still working as intended.
Adding the ‘suggestion’ as a bug or obvious oversite (kinda of putting the devs down) instead of using the suggestion or the profession discussion areas appears to be and attempt to get a devs attention for a nerf.
Btw , in my experiece and usage, Rangers are more likely to use 3 (not F keys) to assist recovery from downed state.Haha…. I understand now.
You don’t PvP!I think you fail to realize how overpowered this is in pvp, and thinking about the aforementioned in relation to pvp might change your opinion immediately.
And if they turned off downed state in PvP-you just die-fine—-but don’t attempt to ruin the rest of the game to make it easier for you in separate part of the game. And then you could make it a practice NOT to PvP with a ranger so you wouldn’t get owned, learn to counter. And of course you could have, no, you should have posted in the PvP section.
I didn’t make this thread, dude.
But the bottom line is, nobody cares about balance for pve….. and you are arguing your side like everyone in this thread is talking about pve.
Nobody is trying to ruin the game for pve rangers…. but they have unfair advantages in pvp.
My apologies!!!!!!!! My bad! Sorry. I guess the op threw out his line, got a few hooked and moved on.
The op started off with a badly concieved and ambiguous post. Generalities contribute to confusion and misunderstanding(like “nobody cares about” who can speak for all???? Some do!!! lol).
That being said just eliminate downed state in PvP, instant death for all. Simple.

Players are able to pet swap and use their pet skills in downed state.
Regardless of if this is or isn’t overpowered, I feel like this is an oversight and should be altered to maintain uniformity between classes in down-state.
So now the agenda is to nerf a profession.
Time to move or lock this thread, please.
(edited by Blude.6812)
It IS NOT a bug!!!!!
Expansion!!!!!!! Forget the console idea, never going to happen.
By saying it is ‘obviously a bug’ shows you don’t unerstand it is working as intended and it is not a bug. And then you suggest it should be nerfed, by it’s removal.
I have always been able to use pet to heal myself in a downed state as well allowing pet to finish the attack. It is, after, all a trained LIVE animal working independently, not an illusion or minion.
Sorry, can’t agree with the whine.
This is obviously a bug, as a thief cant use steal, necros cant use DS.. etc when downed.
If you cant see it on the screen while downed, you shouldnt be able to use it.
LOL—owned
If only there were a dedicated thread for this that the devs could respond to.
LOL, Sacasm at its’ best! (I hope).

Not buying until the purchasing/exchanging gems store is fixed to allow us/me to buy and/or exchange gole for the exact amount of the items.
Not next year, no. Not months from now, no. It’s coming, and it’s coming very soon.
In fact, I’m going to a review in less than an hour, although that doesn’t set a release time quite yet.
What I wonder about is this: What if someone says something is coming “in the next couple of days” or “within the next week” or “by the end of the month” and then testing reveals an issue that delays the implementation? Would you rather hear something rather specific, like “in the next couple of days,” even while you know that it could change for reasons outside our control? Or would you rather hear “soon” and not have as solid an expectation, but also take on board that the implementation is a top priority (as was mentioned in the thread about the Currency Exchange changes)?
I feel that either answer isn’t perfect, so I’d welcome your insights. You should know that I truly do understand that “soon” is frustratingly vague and I argue against.. I mean, “I gently speak in favor of alternatives…”
whenever we can use something more meaningful. On the other hand, saying something more specific can result in flaming “You promised it by XX time!” comments, because even a casual possible release time could be adopted as an absolute date/time/time zone promise.
Thoughts?
Anet could have rolled it back immediately and then taken the time to design the new interface that would would address the custom exchange options.
But ‘soon’ , imho, would have been included in the 2 updates since the change rolled out.
erm ok jst a few to keep you amused.
zerk meta
pvp lack of content
condition in pve
lack of challenging content
lack of rewarding content
gem conversion
precursor crafting
zerg as the answer aka mindless and boring farming instead of fun content
that would be a great start! That list is just that, a list.
It is also a very subjective list and not universal truth or seen as issues by everyone. There is also a grand total of no suggestions on how to fix any of those supposed issues.
Not our job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Add targeting to that list too.
From a dev point of view….
Copy/paste from last year…good to go!
+1 and likely what we we will see even though I would really like to see brand new achievements/activities/skins(not gem shop)etc. Nothing recycled from previous years.
People seems to keep implying that they don’t actually ask anything before making changes but simply just do what they feel like.
They DO have alpha testers after all, so maybe the issue is more along the lines that those testers didn’t have a big of an issue with the change as the extremely overblown forums?
I get the feeling that the “alpha testers” are either 14 year old girls or someone’s very young kid. Could be someone’s wife that doesn’t really understand all this video game business. Purely guessing. Monkies? That may be more likely.
There are wives that play games too you know. (That remark is rather sexist).
LOL. Wives play many many games and don’t go near a computer. Gone Girl!
BTW—what does “soon” mean for the fix, a day or 2, next Tues, 2015, 2020, 2050, 3000?
Of course people have had issue with that as well, i think this is just a sum reaction to all the unwanted changes and the purported reasoning behind them. I don’t think treating your player base like they are imbeciles helped them at all and the complete lack of real communication for a very long time just added to the vitriol. There’s an old saying, don’t kitten on my cupcake and call it frosting, and that’s exactly what happened yesterday with this change, so hence the reaction.
Oh? I can’t remember pages upon pages of raging about the fact that you can’t spend exactly what you want or get the exact amount of gems you want with real money. But I suppose I might have missed it.
Buying with gems with real money and exchanging in game gold for gems—2 completely different issues. Nice try though.
i hope this kind of greedy updates will eventually backfire
It’s backfiring already. Player inactivity is rising even with this event.
Funny cause I think the plan was to slide this through along with the Halloween event (which is rehashed btw) so that the wave of players that come back use this new system.Reminder to everyone to spread the word in-game and boycott gw2. It’s the only thing that will work.
Get on their FB page!!!!
So I just waypoint and run back. Simple world boss rules in effect in my opinion.
