To the Tannoiser (?) commander from FSP in AMBL:
This is just my opinion on your tactics. If you screw with our supply lines while we’re defending Hills from AM, just so you can take Lake and a supply camp, you’re only screwing with yourself. We were holding 30+ AM in Hills; the moment you stopped us being able to build siege and repair, you doomed any chance you had of holding onto those towers.
With AM committed to Hills, you could easily have taken Bay and Woodhaven (which was t1); you’d have gotten more points and would’ve been able to keep them for longer.
I don’t know. Seems like a better tactic than losing the whole Gandara borderlands that was upgraded to t2-t3 while trying to keep AM hills instead :P
The irony is if this new system would have been in place from the start it would have worked well. You know, the time before wvw population thought it would be a good idea to stack into handful of servers.
Would have prevented server hopping somewhat atleast , since you would never knew if the next matchup would be easy rolling.
Ludicrous arrow cart buff was way worse idea.
Tpvp players would just stand in the arrow cart aoe circle while complaining about op bunker ranger pets.
Anet kitten the outmanned side further with their arrowcart patch. Now the more populated side will just cap all the maps at night and sit in their tier3 towers stacked with arrowcarts during the day.
I doubt that was the intention though but they still managed to make the game stale and boring in one swift move.
Replace the waypoints with more arrowcarts.
Arrow cart buff combined with zoomhacks is really starting to take it’s toll on people, me included. Can’t still believe they would shoot down their own game like this.
The least they could do is reduce the damage and range somewhat until they manage to do something with the zoomhacks.
Or better yet, delete the arrowcarts from the game.

Arrow carts ruined WvW IMO. Game was a lot more fun without this nonsense.
Pinnacle of WvW experience is now sitting in a tier 3 tower spamming 1 with an arrowcart.

I suspect what will happen is this: DPS will be moved from the pet to the ranger and we, the players, will play the pet while the ranger becomes the AI component.
That wouldn’t be too bad. But their track record with pet related issues makes me think they will just nerf the pet damage across the board for a quick ‘fix’ so they can get back to fine tuning warriors.
Atleast the rangers now have an semi official walkthough to complete the minidungeon even with their broken profession defining mechanic :I
What’s the point even having it when the game forces you to have it on passive?

Yeah Bas you make a good point. That only applies to pvp though. Some people play other aspects of the game also , and if Anet track record has proven anything , they most likely mess up wvw, dungeon rangers in the process while trying to fine tune their precious future ‘e-sport’

I was only commenting on the pvp side, because SOTG has zero to do with pve or wvwvw. Unfortunately at this point there is no SOTG for WvWvW or PVE. Though from conversations I have had this may be coming soon.

Yes please, delete the pet altogether or just rename us beastmasters. Atleast profession name wouldn’t be so misleading. Just to save heartache and nerves of future potential ranger players.

Meh, i was looking forward to the Gandara-Ag-Fsp matchup.
There are issues in wvw sure, but more concerned about some people stating things like ‘All our work goes waste’ and ‘Sometimes playing wvw 15 hours a day’.
It’s not the end of the world to wait for a week or two. It’s not like the maps are closed until then.
Looks like he has some sort of animation glitch. Better to adjust his fire rate soon.

Also, people, before you go bashing again, it was already stated that this patch is NOT a balance patch, but a bug fix patch.
There isn’t really a shortage of bugs above the water either.

I would love us have more group support, atleast for wvw. There’s zero reason to bring my ranger instead of my guardian,ele or necro when i run with my guild.
I would like to see the following torch skill
- Ranger payback ‘Set your pet in fire and watch it burn to death permanently. You gain 3 month buff of reroll protection.’

Same here , getting error and and kicked out of the game when waypointing or getting close to various points on the map.
Any update please, not a word yet in here or or twitter? How are suppose to defend our keeps when we can’t get close to them without crashing?
This month will be focused on bug fixes, with balance coming in later patches!
I’ve always wondered why bug fixing wasn’t the main focus from the start? How can you balance anything when there’s a metric ton of bugs across professions unadressed.
When you do the bug fixing after balancing , it’s going to affect the balance again.

Too complicated. Maybe they could bring some outside help to code pet/minion ai that is able to hit moving targets. I’d gladly chip in the costs for that :P

(Guild Wars 2 Guru Community Member) Diovid of the Land: We know that the guardian used to be a non-magical knight-like profession and that a marksman and warden profession were considered. Why did the Marksman and Warden (and possibly other professions) not make it in, and what did they do exactly? Why did the other professions make it in and why in the form they are in now?
Jon P: The marksman and warden eventually became the ranger. We had a profession that was called the juggernaut, for lack of a better name! It was basically a non-magical knight profession. At some stage we also talked about the engineer being a heavy armored profession, and then he became medium. Things move around a lot, but why things don’t make it is because people who may have played the juggernaut would have really chosen warrior instead, and it’s just taking away from the flavour of the warrior to have things too similar to it.
Ginko (GW2G): The ranger is supposed to be the pet profession, and bringing a pet is always supposed to improve the performance of the ranger. In all of the demos so far, most rangers didn’t bother to have their pet with them during combat; they either died quickly or didn’t seem to do much when they were around. Considering the ranger class was intended to be the class that specifically focuses on playing with a pet, what does the design team want ranger/pet gameplay to be like at launch? What kinds of gameplay is ArenaNet trying to foster for the ranger so that the pet and ranger work together instead of the pet simply being similar to a random melee ally?
Jon P: I think the ranger pets are terrible right now, no one would argue with that! If you wanted to talk about least played profession, the ranger would probably be it. We’ve been making A.I changes which are slowly propagating to the pets right now, while we’ve also been looking into more radical things with the pets.
Right now the pets feel like this thing you have, rather than a part of your character. Like those other professions that have undergone some radical changes, I’m hoping by the next time we show the game, or certainly before we ship, the ranger pet will have that synergy. That’s one of the biggest failings we have right now. For those that are concerned, we are also concerned but we aren’t concerned that we won’t fix it, just not right now. We are going to make it feel synergistic, but it just takes time.

Just another thing that shows that ranger was put together with the two professions pre beta they thought weren’t working.
Hence the illogical mess of traits/skills/bugs.
Someone remember the names of those professions?
The stealth mechanic was just a bad idea in the first place, I can’t see any way to balance it.
I kill plenty of thieves and can’t remember the last time I lost to one but I also can’t remember the last time I killed a good one, because once they realise they can’t kill me they just use the broken shadow return and drop shadow refuge out of my closing range and disappear off.
The reason that thieves can’t kill me is because any WvW build I make is primarily focused on countering them. I don’t feel the need to specifically counter any of the other classes and didn’t have to lvl 80 a warrior to be able to deal with them, like you have to with thieves. Dealing with thieves may be a learn to play issue and you hear all the time “if you want to deal with thieves you have to roll one and learn the tricks”. but how many times have you seen this on the forums?: “if you want to deal with Guardians/Rangers/Warriors/Eles/Necros you have to roll one and learn the tricks”.
Thief is not OP but it is the ultimate troll class, specced and played right thieves are just downright irritating to play against.
There is no fix for thieves, either you nerf them into the ground and kill a popular class (like they did with Mesmers) or you leave them as is and the rest of the classes find them annoying. I wish they had come up with something better for the thief but the truth is, they put them in the game, it was a bad idea and now we are stuck with them.
In conclusion they can’t really nerf thieves because the main things that cause the problems are core game mechanics, we just are forced to play them ourselves so we can learn them and then spec against them or stick to zerging around.

How would eles feel being locked into an attunement for 30 seconds?

Remove traps and the thief profession both from the game. Problem solved.
i was getting trolled by a perma stealth thief the other day.
luckily i had one of those new anti stealth traps. just imagining the look of panic and desperation on his face when he triggered it made me almost feel bad about stomping him. (no not really, i stomped him with glee and exuberance)
15 badges to counter the devs incompetence? No thanks, i’ll rather bail the fight and go find some fun encounters instead of wasting my time with a trolling match.

Yeah, ranger is best. In everything , spvp,dungeons,roaming wvw, large scale wvw, open world pve. There’s two aspects in those five where ranger is far from optimal.

I think you should make WvW require lvl 80 to enter. I am sick of lvl 3s or similar low lvls who dont even have all equipment slots filled, no traits and not all skills unlocked. They waste slots on the maps, especially when the queues are hours long already and turn fights to the worse. If one of them dies several enemies will get up again.
No. You make it sound like only your side has upleveled players. I might come as a shock but your enemy has them too.
Also if you want every fight to start on equal footing you should try playing chess instead.
edit. granted , upscaling could use some polishing.

Pets are not as bad as some people make them out to be but come on , as a ‘triple A’ mmo but that’s pretty brutal.
Anyone reported that as a bug yet? The beastmaster profession is misleadingly named as a ranger.
Too powerful arrowcarts? No fear , the solution is near. Nightcapping! That’s right , take your guild and preferably few other guilds with you and move to a low tier server playing a lopsided match. Make sure you pick the most powerful of the 3 servers. Wait until it’s dark and voila! No pesky arrowcarts shooting at you while you claw through the empty wooden keep doors.

Hopefully pets hitting moving targets is fixed. It’s absolutely brutal that pet needs to stop to hit the enemy and while he stops the enemy has again moved away from the hitting range.
This assuming the pet ever manages to catch up to the target in the first place which is a long shot without a cripple.
