Waste of time to come up with fixes , the devs already stated they can’t bother fixing pets since it would require some actual work.
They already came out and admitted that the pet is broken and not working as intended. Now they either need to fix it (which they stated would cause a total overhaul of AI in general which they’re avoiding) or do something about the profession mechanic.
Yeha but they also admitted that they don’t care enough to fix the pets since it would take some effort/work. Rather just tinker around and randomly nerf and buff things in a fashion that makes no sense.
Where’s the ’ i don’t care ’ option?
@Petrol.9086
im not going to agrue with you, i just wrote my facts.
And it is last rapid arrow, i sad UP TO 16k critable. Its not dealing 16k over 5 seconds, its like 1.2 – 4.1 – 7.3 – 9.4 – 10….. etc crit dmg -> up to 16k (the highest dmg i made with last arrow). Which is over 30k just per that skill, for example.
cheers
Wrong. The last number that comes up is the total damage of the whole rapid fire skill.
So when you activate it you actualy heal less :O?I think im gonna have a neck leisure soon from all the noding for these riduculous, outrageous and terrible “sugestions”. Just stay out of the forums with this garbage already.
Atleast half of them are still better than anything the devs can muster up :P
I wonder if the shortbow range nerf was an animation fix?
Well, atleast they put it up in the patch notes unlike the -50% barrage damage reduction :P
Congrats to Desolation for the silver league win , there’s no knocking them down from the 1st place anymore. and congrats Gandara/AG for the second place. Abaddon might get a tie with Gandara/AG still but it’s very doubtful.
Wasn’t really a pleasant matchup thread , some frustration from the losing side can be always expected but kinda wish the winning side should be able to take the high road instead of counter-trolling even though most are from people who just logged in the hop on the free victory train and will disappear again when the first match against Sfr/Vizunah/Piken is up.
Have fun and good luck on the future matchups everyone

Justin has been looking into ways to make rosters more balanced. He’s mentioned placing users with dishonored together in queue (what a terrible place to be!), spreading professions more evenly, and a few other things.
In theory, the idea sounds awesome! I’ve personally been on quite a few solo queue rosters of myself + 4 of the same profession – and it’s definitely not fun. The obvious downside here is that every filter he creates is going to extend queue times that much more.
Justin created a thread on this topic already and has asked what you guys feel would be an acceptable queue time, assuming the matches were more healthy and balanced based on these filters. You can check the thread out here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Poll-Would-you-wait-for-a-better-match/first

Sounds great. Even better option would be actually start balancing the professions to even remotely equal power so we wouldnt need be play warrior wars 2.
Checking back with ranger once a year is pretty optimal pace since it takes roughly the same time to fix a single ranger bug.
Leave it to devs in this game to make a semi useless sic’em buff that no one wanted or asked which doesn’t work instead of fixing any of the actual issues with rangers.
Gj.
Wish i would have been there. Would have been fun defending
I want a ‘low hanging fruit’ as a pet. f2 skill should transform my ranger into a warrior for 30 seconds with 30 second cooldown.
With 3 guys. Himself + 3 = 4
This, I think, more than anything else is a huge part of the problem.
You have had 1.5 years and more to pick at these low hanging fruit. You can keep doing that if you like be that will be pretty much like rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. The issues with this class more than any other class wont be fixed without some major work on all of pets, trait lines, and weapon skills.
A fairly large number of rangers have known this and asked for this for a very long time. I’m fairly certain other developers and yourself have been aware of it too. The tweaks are nice but in the end will always fall short and this is why whenever we have some nice ranger changes the prevalent attitude on the forums is “yes, but…”
On a side note I find that the repeated shortbow nerfs utterly inexplicable. The most recent range change was especially baffling. I understand some people think that flavourwise the SB shouldn’t fire as far as the long bow, but how much sense does it make for rangers to throw axes as far as they can shoot a bow?
I think a lot of the changes for this class, including the changes proposed for this patch, testify to a real lack of vision and direction for the ranger. It would be helpful if you were to restate what your vision for the class is (i.e., those lovely paragraphs that tell players what they can expect from a class when we create a new character) and refocus your balancing efforts to make sure this is true for the ranger.
I appreciate that you feel mainland sword leads to unique and high level play as it is, this is true. However, I am not convinced that this is still good for the game. MH sword for the ranger is the only weapon where a new player needs to go change settings in order not to fall to their death and/or leap into a new pack of enemies while on low health. Overall I think that speaks to an error in design.
It’s also the only weapon that keeps you from dodging in its auto attack chain. There are ways to get around that but those are kuldges to get around an issue with the attack chain to allow you to use an extremely important functionality in combat, the dodge.
Sorry about the ramble.
The low hanging furit approach is what you’ve been doing for 1.5 years and for this class, this will not work. Please please please stop doing that, roll up your selves and and get to work on the core issues.
Great post. Sums up pretty nicely how most likely many former ranger players like myself feel.

The frustration is now doubled because they know about the problem and can’t fix it in the forseeable future.
Actually the frustration is finally over. Before we really didn’t know if they were able/planning to adress pet issues any time soon or not.
As the pet issues are too complex to fix for them and no improvements aren’t coming any time soon people can finally let go and play some of the other professions that arent broken to the core
The issues with pets are frustrating. The core of the ranger has been made to revolve around a pet, which is broken. There is little incentive to continue with the ranger class. All the changes I see are focused on issues that are not as critical as the pet problems. Why is that?
Since they can’t fix them. Atleast they came out clean and admitted it so we can move on to other professions/games.
Good to see red posts regarding balance.
Any progress with pets f2 responsiveness , pet survivability in wvw , pet not being able to hit while moving/hit moving targets?
And what about a trait that would give back shortbow it’s 1200 range? MAke eagle eye trait affect both bows instead of just the longbow.

Ranged toon → Warrior with lb
Make warrior healing signet scale with healing power to gain the full effect .
I predict that Desolation and Aurora Glade will double team Underworld the whole week. How else one can explain the difference in score? :P
Because you haven’t gone into Beastmaster to improve your pet and you insist on using melee pets against bosses/large scale encounters. The beginners stream may be just what you need.
Which leads so logically into the question ‘Why do I suffer a 25% hit to my DPS for a class mechanic that only (vaguely) works right if I sacrifice 40% of my trait points on the altar of beastmastery and even then only if I’m using a type of pet that makes up less than 20% of the range of choices?’
Because ranger was put together from the bits and pieces of early developement professions warden and marksman that made the abomination that isn’t quite an archer or a beastmaster hence the poorly thought out mechanics/utilities/bugs galore.
Any eta for fixing the broken professsion mechanic ‘aka’ pet?
4) Warrior
BF4. Or a new balance team.
This is the first step in new style warrior balancing. Nerf the tooltips only and buffing the actual skills.
some devs might be watching
I’m pretty sure were safe from that.
Months of careful analysis are needed to see how the meta develops with the “improved tooltips”. Additionally, Arenanet would like more time for their warrior scheme to come to full fruition. 2+ months is reasonable for balancing a game which is “sort of like doing rocket science”. Nevermind that Guild Wars 1 received much more frequent balance updates for years up until its very end due to the ‘shift in resources’ to Guild Wars 2. Surely you must realize that it would be a great inconvenience to the player population if game updates were made more frequently, as then people would need to restart their game.
I expect tooltips to get nerfed and warrior buffed in the next balance patch 2 months from now.
It’s clear most of his opinions about Warrior come from WvW, a game mode where class balance isn’t nearly as important as gear, food, numbers, and coordination.
Yeah, those ranger/engineer trains can really mess people up in wvw…
Silver might be:
1) Deso
2) AM/Aurora
3) AM/Aurora
4) Shiver
5) Gandara
6) Miller
7) GH
8) Ranik
9) UW
Seems about right for the silver league.
1. Gold league Desolation
2. Blobbadon
3. Piken Glade
I even remember one dev/PR forums person claiming this wasn’t working as intended and that it was going to get fixed, guess we can wait another 3 months for that to pan out.
Pve hotfix eta 3 hours
Pvp hotfix eta 3 months
They are QQ because don’t want leave condition build and run power builds.
Look Minion Necros, Mesmer and Thieves, all them with power builds destroing Warriors. And change healing signet will destroy all sustain. Warriors not will able to stand against any other class and will back to be easy kill (actualy warriors still being the easiest class to kill, because no have protection, evade, blind spam, invul, swith position, minions, etc…)
wat
I would like to set my pet on fire with my torch and send it to enemy zerg to apply burning. Pet is dead meat anyways in large fights so might as well go up in flames.
I had to press the F2 skill 3 fracking times just yesterday standing in town, before the skill would go off. This and other issues I had with Ranger, is why I stepped away from the game for 8 months. I figured I would give it a shot again, as I thought simple glaring bugs like the F2 problem would have been fixed. But all I see in patch notes after patch notes, is mainly Warrior love.
Broken profession mechanic since game lauch really makes one wonder isn’t there really no competent developers working at Anet. Then again salaries compared to other game studios are on the low end there so i guess it makes sense.
Anyways it’s a low priority issue since everyone plays warrior now :P
Still unfixed.
Cleansing ire should only remove condi’s if they HIT something.
Burst skills should go on full cooldown if they miss/ get blocked/ evaded/…
Adrenalin should fully deplete if they miss / get blocked / evaded/…Why reward the warrior for screwing up ? They already got lots of hp and toughtness for a reason…
It’s just crazy. Almost like one profession is operating in the game by completely different rulebook than the others. The developers are notorious in not admitting mistakes in their balancing no matter how damaging it is to the game.
They will most likely implement something else totally op so that the warrior complaints will be forgotten instead of fixing them.
Great post op. Totally agree on every point. Hopefully someone at Anet reads this.
They should just do a rollback on the signet buff. But they wont since it would be admitting it was a mistake to buff it in the first place.
It’s not just you. Getting credit for the cap in that camp is random at best. That camp has just been bugged for so long that i don’t think most people bother reporting anymore.
Pets are still not fuctioning properly.
I havent seen many bugs so far, but the complete mechanik we interact with our pet is broken.
Traits and skills feel like: “the ranger and a pet fighting against enemies” and not like “the ranger and his pet fighting together in synergie against enemies”
It’s more like ranger fighting against pet ai,pets unability to hit moving targets, randomly working f2 skills and enemies.
They already figured out the easiest fix for them. Ignore all ranger feedback from the last 16 months.
Don’t worry. WvW is unplayable with the skill lag currently so you don’t miss much sitting in queue.
I fail to see how the range change has any practical effect, but I should probably be careful using sarcastic logic in a QQ thread. Shortbow is still a great weapon for ranger and bringing the ranger just a liiiittttle bit closer to the action isn’t all that bad of a thing, especially in PvE, where the less experienced player can have a positive impact on their group by accident through use of spirits/aoe slot skills. But really, screw bows, why can’t rangers wield catapults?!
Actually having 1200 range was extremely valuable in catching up players/preventing escape in wvw with crippling shot and concussion shot. Lots of professions can put lot of distance between you and themselves in a very short time.
But i guess random babbling about spirit range and wielded catapults makes that point invalid.
(edited by Boomstin.3460)
WvW and pve don’t matter for them. They balance the game around spvp. True story.
(edited by Boomstin.3460)
Pets are still broken.
Longbow range base 1500
Shortbow range base 1200
or
Longbow range base 1200 + 300 with trait
Shortbow range base 900 + 300 with trait
Thanks.
Most servers can’t fill four maps, why do we need a fifth?
I’m excited about new terrain and possibly new objectives or gameplay, but populations are too sparse already, this will make that problem worse.
It’s a good question, and one we talked about a lot. Above all else, our main raises behind adding another map (which can overflow and create multiple copies of itself) include:
- On many more populated servers in NA and EU, there are queues, this would allow people to play the game they want at all times.
- We want to do things in the future, this map included, that will help get more people interested in WvW. We need to make sure we’re not just making them sit in a queue when we do that.
- The game is going to be launched in other parts of the world, and on launch in NA/EU we had queues for WvW on just about every world. In some of the largest gaming parts of the world say, China for example which we’re in beta for right now, we’re seeing massive responses from guilds that make NA/EU guilds look tiny. These guilds all want to play WvW on the same world together, this map will help facilitate a better launch in new regions, as well as the much larger guild alliances you find in the east.
Hope that helps a bit! We know for much smaller worlds this may seem like it’s no big deal, since you never deal with queues anyway, but the gameplay and experience should hopefully be fun (and different) such that it may attract new players to WvW. It also opens up opportunities for us to do other types of experiences in WvW across all worlds that may help bolster smaller worlds populations as well.
Woulnd’t it be better to try fill out the bottom tier with players first and try to reduce the population of superstacked top servers that are the real issue here.
Also, why it was necessary to try make few easy bucks by reducing transfer costs just before the league to help mess up things even more than they were?
At this point , it is no longer about the balance . The balance is irrelevant . We are stuck with bugs and functionality issues that have not been adresed for over a year now . The ranger main mechanic is not working properly , for cryin out loud . Who cares if weapon X does Y more damage to target Z
This. Too bad developers have no accountability for some reason in this game.
Don’t worry. The devs don’t understand it either.
