Necromancers were once believed to be a joke class….an afterthought…one of the worst classes in the game.
They are now probably the 2nd or 3rd strongest class in the game, definitely up there
The necros have fanboys complaining about how underpowered they are at sotg every month to Jonathan and other devs. A luxury that the ranger players don’t have.
Leash range was reduced because of spvp. They don’t just have any consideration how it will affect other games modes. It’s not like they couldn’t split the game modes like they did with mesmer so one has to start wondering their competence when this kind of stuff keeps happening.
1) Why did ranger pets got nerfed in all the game modes across the board when they only needed nerf in spvp with bm bunker builds?
2) when will we see pets that can hit moving target aka are able to hit while moving?
3) Why wasn’t leash range only reduced in spvp?

We have tried to hold it together but it just doesnt work AG stopped upgrading/deffending keeps etc. no towers being upgraded/no one deffending and little daytime activity.
I would say the reason for that is the wexp , people go for the easy rewards instead of running supply, defending and scouting. Why do something that gives little to no reward, costs a lot of gold and can be quite boring when you can run wexp trains for the maximum gain.
It’s an issue within the game, and not server specific.
the POINT of a nerf is to not compensate the lost damage by buffing other skills.
Pets were to powerfull, and now you want to put that damage on other skills? Whats teh point in that?
Pets were too powerful in spvp with beastmaster bunker builds. But pets got nerfed across the board in other game modes also. Think that’s the main complaint.
It’s not like they aren’t able to split them like you can see from some of the mesmer notes
Split the hit point values of clones and phantasms by game type:
Increased the phantasm base hit points by 55% in PvP and WvW.
Increased the phantasm base hit points by 270% in PvE.
Decreased the clone base hit points by 25% in PvP and WvW.
Increased the clone base hit points by 28% in PvE.
End result is that how they did the pet nerfs comes out as a lazy/unprofessional.

Evasive purity is bugged and doesn’t remove anything.
Heh, still can’t believe they went for the across the board damage nerfs with pets that affect every game mode since bm bunkers were too strong in spvp.
Worst balance team since Warhammer.
Honestly I was so hyped before GW2 launched, thinking “Finally, a true ranger class!”, i used to dream of roaming with my trusty pet that I could name (although we all know not even that has been added after months of the game being out). And when I realized this profession could use greatswords… I was so excited!
You know you can rename your pet right, that was available since beta weekends.
You can rename it, but the name wont stay if you change your pet. And if you go back to the renamed pet, its name will be back to juvenile.

The shorter range is annyoing and will take a long time for me to get used to. Mainly i hate the change is that it was great to stop people getting away from you with crippling shot, concussion shot. If weapon swap is on cd, stopping people isn’t very easy anymore.
That said it doesn’t make that much of a difference anymore since i barely play my ranger apart from omnomberry picking, not worth losing my nerves and hope with the incompetent devs.
I don’t know. Doesn’t seem that much painful anymore to abandon my ranger. If it wasn’t clear before that the devs have no idea what they are doing with ranger, it should be now atleast. Better to let go now than to keep repeatedly disappointed every month.
I think the old ranger jokes are still viable.

- Why shortbow rangers only act in comedys and not in dramas? They don’t have the range for it.
Oh no? You can’t autoattack with Shortbow anymore, from freaking miles away, while applying 14+ stacks of Bleed? God forbid you actually have to use skills to play.
Ranger Shortbow was by far the most forgiving, braindead, easy-mode way to play in all of GW2. Thank god they changed the range.

So a predictions for next patch:
•Crossfire: Decreased the damage by 25%. Bleed no longer requires flanking. No longer effected by quickness.
•Quick Shot: Removed damage.
•Crippling Shot: Removed damage.
•Concussion Shot: Removed damage.

Hey Jon. If you still roam ranger boards for giggles when you manage to break ranger more with each patch why not be a good sport a do a rollback on the ‘animation fix’ with the shortbow.

I tried out the spirits in the new dungeon. I summoned the Sun Spirit and it literally died at the first group of mobs from a ranged attack (I think) before I finished summoning the other two spirits.
I also thought spirits were squishy until i watched Chopps spirit dungeon video. The trick is to place them so far from your group that they are out of range to give any benefits.
Roam into the character selection screen with your ranger and roll a thief.
They actually were able to hire a dev that could manage ai that can hit moving targets? I believe it when i see it , last 10 months hasn’t given me much hope for their ability though.

There seems to be few fake developers working at Anet. Apart from that , not really.
•Man O’ War: The base recharge has been increased from 18 to 25.
•Counterstrike: The base recharge has been increased from 15 to 20.That’s the most confusing change. Those two abilities were already terrible.

How about an elite that transforms the enemy into your pet for a short period. then you just F1 him into enemy zerg and watch him melt down?
Can someone explain to me why BM builds are suddenly crap? I couldnt find something in the patch notes that said: now its unplayable

I currently have 20 points in BM just to boost my pet a bit (since I have a build that gives all my boons to my pet, I dont want it to be completely cannon fodder). Still playable?

Bird: Slash: Increased damage by 15%.
Eagle: Lacerating Slash: Reduced damage by 50%.
Raven: Blinding Slash: Reduced damage by 34%.
Canine: Bite: Reduced damage by 27%.
Devourer: Twin Darts: Reduced damage by 20%.
Drake: Bite: Reduced damage by 27%.
Drake: Lightning Breath: Reduced damage by 17%.
Feline: Maul: Reduced damage by 50%.
Jaguar: Stalking: Critical chance increase while in stealth reduced to 25%.
Jellyfish: Tentacle Slash: Increased damage by 50%.
Jellyfish Blue: Chilling Whirl: Decreased damage by 33%.
Moa: Peck: Reduced damage by 7%.
Pig: Jab: Reduced damage by 25%.
Shark: Bite: Increased damage by 10%.
Spider: Spit: Increased damage by 10%.

From the developers ‘we don’t know how to make an ai that can hit moving targets’ no , i’m not exited or confident their ability anymore with new patches.
Nope, still running shout guardian or well necro in wvw what i mainly play. Ranger keeps picking omnomberries in orr so doesn’t matter what build it uses.
He is most likely in Dagobah if he is still alive.
Honestly, BM ranger is not that great in PvP .How many top tier PvP teams run BM rangers? Sure, a lot of people have been using BM rangers in lower ranked PvP games, but why would you nerf a class across the whole game , because on the noob side of the smallest % of the playerbase people could not circle strafe pets .
On a side note . Why is noone complaining about bunker dagger-dagger elementalist damage , or offtank dagger-pistol thief damage and survivability ???

Considering our rank, i think we are doing okay against MS and Gandara :P the fights i have had tonight on MS BL have been amazing against both servers so thanks, i think i’m going to enjoy this week
Primetime things aren’t that lopsided yet. Mostly the matchups are decided by the offpeak activity though.
Gandara tends to have it’s weakest time usually at weekends and Miller tends to run their golem rushes in the morning time so hold on to your praise for now
Shortbow should have always been 900 yards, really.
Nope, longbow range should always been 1500 without the trait.
Shortbow having 900 range may or may not be the correct range. But saying it makes players somehow better and it doesn’t affect anything is just false. Every shot counts before you switch to melee, or when you are trying to land that cripple to an escaping enemy.
I do see it as a good thing. It’ll make shortbow play more dynamic because we have to actually learn how to dodge better because we can actually get hit now. Sure it was easy to dodge red circles at 1200 range, now we have to actually pay attention. Sounds horrible, right? People have been using MH Axe at 900 range and there were no complaints about it’s range.
Also, I didn’t bring up “i’ve been posting longer”, he did when he asked if I really mained a ranger.
Hmm, what on earth are you talking about? I thought other professions had gap closers in their arsenal to counter the range advange somewhat? Reducing weapon range somehow enhances persons ability to dodge? And if i’m at close range it’s somehow more difficult to move away from the aoe circles than at 1200 range? Can i try not to step on the aoe circles or do i need to always dodge away from them?

I think you’re confused. Ranger buffs and fixes only include things like new pet icons and underwater combat tuning. After 9 months you should know this already

Rangers have the best water field in the game hands down.
Very true. That alone just isn’t a good enough reason to bring one to organized play. Shout guardians, hammer warriors , support eles and few portal mesmers and well+plague necros for the core.Couple of thiefs for scouting and you’re good to go.
Rangers can stay in base and play with their pets. Or maybe tell jokes in ts while there is a quiet moment between battles.

Seems like a fun matchup for everyone involved. The new server matchup system is awesome. Servers are ranked 7-19-20 so it can’t be lopsided either.
You are looking at the breakout events the wrong way. It’s there to encourage randoms to go borderland maps. And when the enemy comes there’s more fun and action for you.
Or what would you be doing in your fully upgraded borderland void of all enemies? Sit next to an arrowcart in tier3 keep feeling awesome?Except ET is probably lucky if they have any tier 3 towers in their own borderlands. GoM is beating both servers combined by almost double the points which means they’re holding their borderlands quite often. If anything, these events should be disabled for any server that has such a commanding lead.

Hmm, world vs world tab now shows the matchup as Fissure of Woe – Gandara – Desolation , Fissure with a huge lead :P
Last i checked the matchup is Gandara – Abaddon – Far Shiverpeaks this week.
