We’ve never hated lulz. We’ve always enjoyed having you guys on JQ. Any small guild on JQ or SoR is welcome by our guild. You might get “zerged” by us from time to time, but you should know better than to expect anything else in a game like this.

Get some more good players to replace the ones who left so we can have even fights again.

It turns out I am confused… this is lulz from JQ. The lulz from SoR are good guys. I can’t say that the lulz from JQ has been as impressive. Drama onward!

When I do catch your streams the clowning of other servers is amateur and I hear words like “noob”, Step it up. Also if I wanted to hang out with 10 dudes on a Friday night I’d go to a bar not teamspeak. At least at the bar girls are around and you can see if they hawt.

I prefer to spend my Fridays watching you drink beer at your computer and stand for hours inside or around SM.

The thing about that fight is that our RIOT group broke off to fight you guys at the south camp, while the oPP group went east to kill those guys in the water. When your south group died/ran, we let oPP chase the east group back to their spawn. We went back northwest and never engaged. But hey, who cares about details?

Im tentatively optimistic about these changes. Having roamed exclusively since October last year, Ive been sick to death of zerg fights and the ppt game on the whole. This change however has at least given the ppl that want to pvp properly, somewhere to go and play.

My only concerns are:

> Map layout in terms of towers and keeps should be more spread… zergs will run through alot with it being the middle of the map
> Over buffing the already dominating over wvw populated, off prime time servers
> Lack of rewards for the dedicated Bloodlust cappers – No wxp, no tower defense/cap silver etc – Make stomp kills in the area have a higher chance of exotics

Apart from that Im looking forward to this, roll on the 17th

Yeah, I expect the zergs to roll through the cap points, especially when their side is having a hard time holding it. However, we are used to running from zergs and the geometry seems like it will provide us with easy get aways. In the end though, 3 minutes is a very long time for a T1 map zerg to stay in one place that leaves their keeps and towers vulnerable.

As for the stat buff, I could take it or leave it. After a year I am used to WvW’ing for no reward and little impact on the PPT (which I could care less about). I come from DAoC though, so rewarding winners is also something I don’t have a problem with (even when losing). Of course, the competition between SoR/JQ/BG is good enough that I don’t think it will be as big of an issue as it could be in the lower tiers.

I am extremely glad that the new cap sites don’t give Karma/WXP/XP. These kinds of rewards make it more appealing to the zergs, and are more or less meaningless to my group.

My team is super excited about this patch. I am glad to see some others are as well!

My guild cannot wait for this new WvW update. We are a small roaming group who likes to skirmish. The problem is that we are in T1, and everyone else wants to zerg. For once, our small team can make a difference in WvW and have some good fights doing it.

Good small fights. Are there two SF guilds on JQ? The one I am familiar with zergs mostly. If that is your guild, I am super glad you guys have some small roaming stuff going on.

you are doing it wrong! the correct and effective way to taunt a zerg is to place siege weapons all over in the open field. just place them, dont bother building, thats not the point. they will get drawn to it, like a zerging moth to a flame ram.

You know, you are right. We need to do that more. We’ve been known to spam rams at north camp, but that is more trolling than actual taunting strategy.

I’m kind of curious if there is a difference in skill level between low tier roamers and high tier roamers.

There is definitely a lack of roamers in NA T1 as far as quantity goes. As for general skill difference between the people who do roam in T1 versus those who do in lower tiers, I would say there is none.

For example, my friends from Invidious were on Blackgate for a long time as a small roaming group. Before the random matchups patch, they went to T8 where very skilled roaming groups like BS, PAXA, Oink, etc. were building a 5v5v5 community spread out over the three tier 8 servers. At first they had some problems beating PAXA, but eventually they figured out a group comp and strategies to compete with them. They just had to make some adjustments, basically.

Yeah. We get a lot of comments saying “RIOT just runs” etc related to this, but normally we’re running as a group of 5-6, with a max of 10. This means that we’re going to run from 25 people, because the classiest players would dance on our body after zerging us down. If it’s an even fight? Hell yes, we’re going to stay. A lot of nights involve us running around just begging for a half decent fight.

tbh your guild is quite impressive when it comes to being aware of your surroundings, sounds like im brown nosing after some negatively received feedback but i don’t think ive seen a guild use the environment as good as yours

Thanks, RC. That’s something we’ve worked on a lot lately.

In response to the “running from challenging fights”, you have to realize that we are very aware of when we are completely outnumbered and have no chance. This isn’t DAoC where a single team can take out a 40 person zerg. After you are at about double your numbers, it becomes impossible to win against a zerg without kiting due to down state.

If you watch Yishis group videos and the video I posted above, you’ll realize that positioning is everything, and us “running away” sometimes isn’t what it appears to be. Of course, there are many times when a more disciplined zerg decides to chase us and kiting doesn’t work either.

Interesting you made such a claim and yet gave a caveat to your claim by giving an “in all fairness” mention. RIOT is one of the best roaming and/or small group guilds around and not one to be taken lightly, at all. They wreck crap all the time, despite assertions that they “run away from anything actually challenging”…..no doubt you and Red Cobra have been wrecked by them extensively to come here and make such derogatory mentions and assertions. lol. =.=

I’ve seen a lot of there videos and even spoke to them, they admit that they pick easy targets in roaming, thats how you’re supposed to do it, thats just not my playstyle though, you sound like you’re getting offended over someone else, control your emotions, its childlike.

We like to fight against equal to about twice our numbers. Unfortunately, we’re lucky to get 2-3 of those kinds of fights in a night. Most of our roaming is ganking lost zerglings.

Last night’s havoc squads in WvW were a blast! Thanks PD and TW for running those small groups one in a while last night in SoR BL, it was fun!

XII – get 4 other people and roll all guardians and elies, and come fight us. =D

Most people are farming the new PvE event. If you were smart, you would too because when they all earn 100’s of gold from these events and prices of food/oils skyrocket even more than they have already, you won’t be able to afford to be competitive in WvW.

Roll 1-2 guardians, ele, put rubber mask over face, face roll over keyboard, pretend what you’re doing is skill and not abuse of lack of boon duration nerf+battery classes -guard/ele- then post on the forums.

Take out guardians/eles=you wipe like the rest of the pugs.

To each his/her own, I guess. Can’t blame you for knowing when to roll certain classes to carry you.

So sorry for killing you in WvW.

I have to say, that last fight was probably the best fight I’ve seen in a WvW video.

Great question. I have a follow up question: Since WvW players are a lot poorer than PvE’ers, I bet they spend more money on the gem store. Assuming that logic makes sense and is true in reality, why does most development go to PvE?

To the people saying that money is fine in WvW: I don’t zerg, but I don’t spend a dime on siege or upgrades (I don’t care about the PPT). I earn around a gold a night in WvW. My friends earned 100+ gold last week each in PvE. I can’t afford to buy the top tier food and oils any more due to the absurd inflation lately (thanks to PvE’ers). If I want to level and gear another WvW character, that’ll be another $15 for Anet.

I haven’t read this entire thread (my condolences if you have), but may I ask what is going on with SoR? Is your population shrinking or something? Is Blackgate now the most stacked NA server? I could care less about the point tick and who wins week to week, what I want are competitive opponents. I don’t really want to be on the most stacked server in the game.

BG is doing what JQ did back in the day of their dominance as their SEA timezone literally had free reign.

I recall what used to be close scores going into the school/work week ended with a 15k ppt advantage overnight as Waha’s SEA crew overran the zones.

It’s a 24/7 matchup, kudos to BG for their present run but as everyone here knows who has been on T1 for a long time, things can switch quickly as I for one never expected JQ’s present status as they were literally riding high with morale just a couple months ago.

Ah… this explains our EU players’ requests to not recruit more EU guilds.

I think you have been going about this all wrong.

The best thing you could do is to make Topics explaining why small group play is so fun and rewarding and even make guides and suggestions for those who want to get in to it but don’t know how.

From what I see people who pick up the game and enjoy pvp just go out to wvw and all they see is big wvw guilds so they join one not even aware of other options. Many people might be willing to try and create small man groups if shown how much fun they are. Also, one would need to encourage and coach/guide them even if you wipe them right away or they will just turn back to zergs.

Unfortunately, it seems most of the posts about small man groups made by small man groups seem to give off the wrong attitude that would drive most people away.

5 man goes against the grain of current WvW. You only have 4 people to counteract your so-called “badness” where, in a zerg, you have 50 people to depend on.

Why do people think RG was so good? They were the same 20-25 guys who played together for YEARS if my information about them is correct. If you know exactly what your team is doing, you can accomplish some great things and that’s the beauty of 5-10 man groups.

My best memory of this was when FoE and AGG moved from BG to ET. We held Lake with 2 AC and our melee-train from from 80 SF + 40 FC, we had around 20 AGG and 10 FoE. We play the game the same way, we built our groups almost exactly the same and we all got along really well. This just goes against the grain of WvW and playing for PPT rather than having fun and playing how others think we should but how we find it enjoyable.

PAXA – I think T6 would be were you’d find decent fights, sadly group mentality surrounds WvW like the plague.

I don’t understand why you quoted me, you neither refuted my post or added anything to it.

All I am trying to say is that if you want a culture of small man group, you will need to help create it. That starts with getting people excited about it with posts showing how fun it is, then following up with posts explaining how other people can go about enjoying it themselves.

Making posts that seem like clique lists/giving off the impression that anyone who doesn’t already run small man groups must be bad is not the best way to go about it and will only further alienate small man groups from the “meta” instead of creating a culture to cause more people to want to try to form and create them.

80% of my gameplay is with ~5 man group stuff and I love it but PAXA you guys always approach it with a “holier than thou” attitude has always made it a turn off to talk to you guys. Tired of watchin you guys talk about how everyone else is doin it wrong and how some other game I didn’t buy or want to buy was the best MMO ever *see edit below.

There are gripes to have with the game, I agree, but when it comes to WvW, I think the happiest people are the ones who integrate themselves with the world they’re in. It gives context to the battle beyond upping kill count. It gives you goals that vary with the map state (draw zerg attention, hold back reinforcements, be the tide turning flank attack etc.) and keeps the small man stuff fresh and shows how relevant small groups are in WvW. I can only speak for myself but I’d like to see more awareness raised on that sorta things. What small groups can do on a map, to let people know why to play them.

Edit: I was a GvG’er in Guild Wars 1 myself, mostly through the first couple years. Back when you would have nothing to spend Balthazar faction on, so I’m used to playin for the fun of it rather than any reward. I’m also used to having stats be level across everyone so it was always people’s skill to decide things.

Yeah, I wish that GW2 put more emphasis on groups. I can live with the other bad mechanics that encourage zerging, but the only thing being in a group gives you is 4 blue dots on the minimap.

I also really miss the DAoC where being in a group actually meant something. CU, I can’t wait for you.
