I haven’t read this entire thread (my condolences if you have), but may I ask what is going on with SoR? Is your population shrinking or something? Is Blackgate now the most stacked NA server? I could care less about the point tick and who wins week to week, what I want are competitive opponents. I don’t really want to be on the most stacked server in the game.

Anet probably doesn’t have any immediate plans to have a short term free server transfer period, but has Anet ruled out that there will be another one at any point in the future?

That is a really good point. The main reason RIOT didn’t move to T8 with you guys is because we have a lot of members who play Oceanic/Sea/EU/Mars timezones (looking at you, Yishis and Vessu Verra). T1 really does offer 24/7 action on every BL, and that has been the only thing keeping us here. As much as I would LOVE to see you guys go to JQ, I would have to say that if you only play NA primetime, your best bet is to avoid T1.

For our brief time in T2 it seemed to have the best of both worlds: small fights with lots of action around the clock in every BL. I don’t know how that has changed in the last few months though.

I really don’t know what to say here either. I want to reflect what my buddy Rez said, and that JQ might be a good fit. You would have us and oPP to fight against. The smaller SoR groups seem to be out less and less these last couple of weeks, perhaps because BG is more of a point tick threat (I really have no idea why anyone cares so much any more). CD has more or less quit, and I rarely see CAPS any more.

Running a small man group has been increasingly frustrating these last couple of weeks on BG. Having you there to fight would be refreshing, but everything just turns into a pug zerg fest regardless. Hopefully it is just my bad luck lately.

It’s not fun killing kittenty players, rather have 5 mans aiming for 5 mans to test merit. Anyone with a pulse can kill 10-15 Dungeon “masters”. Not sure if 5 v 5 will ever become culture in this game. Don’t think there’s enough talent…. Or desire for non-ez mode pvp.

Yeah, it comes down to all of the things we’ve gone over and over a million times in other threads. This game just doesn’t encourage 5 man roaming in any way other than it is the most fun you can have in WvW.

It is too bad that the Tier 8 project you guys were heading up was destroyed by the new ranking system. We were seriously considering it at one point.

You can add oPP from Blackgate and CAPS from Sanctum of Ral.

We often run 5, but sometimes less sometimes more. No more than 9 though, which hasn’t happened in a while. I’ve been seeing Invi on again recently, but with the new “ranking” system I don’t think you guys get to play against them right now.

It is a stupid mechanic to force people to go into a map where they are going to get camped. The JP has NOTHING at all to do with pvp and if you think it does you are clearly delusioned. The EB JP is pvp ONLY if you see that your server has more people than the other servers.

Then you camp the other servers to annoy them and stop them from completing their achieves. THAT is what the pvp is about in there. It is not and never is anything else but 5 to 10 versus 1 or 2.

People simply camp as a group and as soon as they do not have the numbers they run away. People also purposefully pull, kill or disturb players at the part after the dark room. Campers stay on top and range the players trying to climb up. The choke there is the best griefing spot as it requires to redo the dark room which blows donkeys.

There is nothing fun in this JP UNLESS…you are doing it without being bothered then it is fun OR you are the griefing team and you enjoy making people fail.

NOTHING about the EB JP has anything to do with pvp it only has to do with larger groups blocking others from completing achieves. Being hit from a distance without being able to do anything and getting killed from above in the animals cages part is NOT pvp…its just a kittenblock and a means for sadistic players to have their fun

You cant have TOP dmg and lots of utilities at the same time.

PS: It would be bad play if a GS user didnt use his mobility when a longbow user gets the drop on him. People pick the GS for the mobility not 100B.

At least someone gets it. The video was to experiment with damage, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s achieved the highest damage bursts in the game.

The only thing I like about the jumping puzzle are the fights you get in it. I think it’s great!

One thing you have to remember about Sanny is that he is good at knowing when other classes are going for a stun on him. You’ll notice his usage of dodge and shield block. He relies on being able to make the move first against an opponent and avoiding theirs.

Actually some of the most fun I had in months was last night skirmishing with that small group of RIOT at the spawn tower for an hour or so. None of us wiped, and anyone that died one either side just ran back for more. REALLY fun stuff.

It seems a lot of players love using the world trinity without any understanding what it truly means. So they keep spewing crap.

Guild wars 2 never got rid of the trinity nor did it claim it did, it redefined it and redistributed it to the 8 professions in varying amounts. Before the trinity was tank, heal and dps. Guild wars 2 replaced it with control, support and damage (dps part did not change). Unlike WOW, every class has varying amounts of support, damage and control. Some classes like guardian/elementalist are better at support, some are better at control and so on.

In WoW, you always needed a tank and support and dps. In guild wars 2 since every class has some aspect of the three you can thereotically complete content with any class. Obviously in reality, players don’t do that because players love the path of least resistance.

The point being guild wars 2 never once claimed it did not have a trinity, it even said so in one its design document. The difference is all classes have some aspect of the trinity and NOT only a single class like in WOW.

That’s an interesting way to look at it, but saying that the trinity exists in GW2 because every player can do a little bit of what classic healers in other games did is stretching it. The definition of the “holy trinity” includes clear separation of classes into those three categories, and when everyone can resurrect and heal themselves this separation ceases to exist.

Instead of a clear separation of classes and roles, GW2 has a muddy group of generic classes that can all produce the same results in the game, just through different mechanics and to different degrees. In other words, class separation is less about healing/dps/tanking (effects that the character has on the game), and more about the class mechanics (how characters use skills, utilities, etc.)

I know a lot of MMO PvP players who don’t like GW2. Most of them are healer players, but I also think that to them this game’s focus on class mechanics over the effects a character has on the world around them is less interesting. I didn’t really enjoy WvW in this game until I got over the fact that all of the classes are generic in the sense of what they do instead of how they do it. Once I realized the “how they do it” part of this game (class mechanics) is really interesting, I started enjoying WvW a lot.

Someone in the WvW forums accused us of trying really hard. We do because we suck at PvE.

Actually, havoc squads as small as a duo or trio also can utilize the basterdized version of the holy trinity in this game. As a 5 man, lately we almost never run without a couple of heal/support builds. Doing so really improves our ability to take on more numbers than we normally can.

I just wanted to say great fights to SoR and JQ, and I’m not just saying that because we won. I don’t care who wins; the fights are what matters. This has to be the closest T1 matchup I have ever seen!

I agree completely, the game lacks a lot of motivation. WXP and the rewards are next to useless for me.

What motivates me is skirmishing. The thing that GW2 does better than just about every game I have played is small scale combat. This makes sense considering the tPvP aspect of the game (which I don’t really like). The combat is fluid, and challenging. Mechanics can always use improvements and balancing, but for the most part skirmishing on a small scale is just really fun.

So what motivates me to WvW nearly every day since the release of the game? Fighting and killing other players.
