I wanted to hear the outcry of the vocal players here if they had made legendarys
only available to PvP players that win some E-Sport events.

And hi to my stalker NT.

If they earned it then they deserve it. What’s interesting is arrogance and envy are 2 sides of the same coin. Those who are jealous of those who have what they don’t are just as bad as those who are arrogant of what they have over those who don’t.

I played wow for 4 years and I think that has more to do with how hard it to maintain a good environment as a community gets larger but thats just my opinion.

That could also be the case as well.

While obviously my personal experience is subjective. However I did “hardcore” or progression raiding in WoW from release to BC release. We raided 5-6 hours a night 5 nights a week. Anytime we didn’t spend raiding we either chilling out, or prepping for the next raid. Since most of our time outside of raiding was focused on discussing boss strats or farming/prepping for the next night. We didn’t really have time to sit around and gloat or flame others.

While this does go more along with smaller playerbase, but once we progressed past a certain dungeon some members would actually join up with new raiding guilds or “PuGs” and assist them with that dungeon. Usually either because they wanted a certain item, they knew someone in that group, or just liked the instance.

As it tiered down it didn’t seem as much of a challenge and people lost respect in regards to the time/effort people put into it, and those who did them felt a sense of superiority on being able to do at a higher level or faster. Similar to how in Gw2 dungeon and fractal speed runs are extremely toxic and divisive.

Whats actually interesting is the more “casual friendly” they made WoW raiding, the more toxic it became.

I don’t agree that they shouldn’t be allowed to do it but they certainly shouldn’t be able to fake their way through it like with dungeons.

Honestly I don’t see where the “not allowed” comes into play? I mean what restrictions outside of difficulty would inhibit people from doing it? Being locked to a certain instance? Guild Only? Attunements?

Ps. This isn’t directed at you, but it is more me not understanding why people say casuals or pugs aren’t allowed.

Anyone who think’s people should be limited to what content they can’ and can not do is a kitten, and sadly they exist in every game.

It’s not about who should or should not do it, but if content should be developed around a certain group or not. What others have said, is that if raids were balanced around making it possible for a unorganized PUG group to complete then organized groups would be able to clear it 10x faster, rendering it meaningless.

Some are hoping that raids are balanced around being challenging for organized groups. Anyone could try and do it, but would most likely fail. There is already enough content available for casual or unorganized groups, but almost none for organized.

Yet with the restrictions on new accounts they cannot “spam” whispers.. Nice try though. Also go stand in the pvp lobby and tell me you do not get gold seller whispers.. That is where most of gold seller whispers come from for me.

They can send a whisper to a different player every 30 seconds…with a boatload of free accounts that can potentially make for a lot of messages. Just sayin’.

They can only send a whisper to mutual friends. Meaning you would have to add the gold spammer(s) to your friends list and you would have to be on theirs. Then it would be every 30sec.

No, they can send whispers to anyone (within same map apparently), with a 30s limit on starting conversations.

Mutual friends have no restriction on whisper.

“Except for mutual friends, can only whisper in the same map, one new person every 30 seconds”

Yep, I was wrong, read it to fast. They should really look into changing that,

I love the “Elite Raiders”. I’ve never met a nice one.

Not sure how it is now, but most “Elite Raiders” I use to know where pretty chill. Many don’t actually socialize much outside of their guilds. DnT for example while had some arrogant people, they also did a lot of guides and open brainstorming on unkilled bosses, which I would consider nice, considering the competitive nature of progression raiding.

To be fair, it’s possible that system has always been in place, not just with freebie accounts. I’ve noticed this aswell with new char that drop rates seemed better then on my older characters. I actually vaguely remember a discussion about this when they started doing Gw2 flash sales about loot increases with new accounts.

Until someone actually does tests and gets a large enough sample size to confirm its just another tinfoil theory.

Funyy if raid will become that really hard, they talk about legendary armor? expecting stats will make them good?

Owning a legendary is casual on gw2.

Love it or hate it, it’s more of a kitten thing. No different than those who want exclusive items to stay exclusive so they can show off how long they been in game or what they’ve done.

Gaining the legendary armor isn’t what makes them good(legendary armor doesn’t give better stats), its what they achieved to get them that makes them good. At least good/have the time to raid.

Actually i’m not dismissing it for the reason you gave.I think the current LFG is better, because i can list exactly what i’m looking for. Also i can see different groups and what classes they have. How many people are in the group and so on.

Wasn’t necessarily directed at you per say, which is why I didn’t quote. However this topic has come up before and like with many other topics, people dismiss ideas simply because “WoW did it”.

You could still have both and either allow quick queue or more specified requirements. Regardless LFG or dungeon grouping currently is pretty bad, which is why dungeons are glazed over by so many.

The point of raids is really organized challenging content, not something that is easily puggable. If it is puggable then it isn’t challenging enough, you could try, but understand you will probably fail. The reason people are against it is because, as stated, if they made it puggable then it wouldn’t be considered a challenge and like other features people will complain and it will be nerfed.

Still seems like a sign of desperation. Instead of making a game/xpac worthy of attracting new players or appeasing vets to either come back and buy the xpac or refer others to join. they instead open the floodgates hoping some will stick. Games go/allow F2P when they are failing or plateauing, not when they are about to release their 1st expansion.

It doesn’t matter, quitting holds no meaning in B2P/F2P games. If you stop playing then you can just start again whenever. Its only when it’s a sub based game that quitting actually means something.

A true and valid argument. The value for Gw2 has been more than worth it. However Anets recent actions smell of desperation, which makes me reluctant to get HoT. They don’t seem focused, or doing enough to incentivise wanting to continue with the franchise, but more doing whatever cash grab they can.

We will see how HoT pans out and what their timetable is post-HoT in regards to development and content releases. Personally Fallout 4 seems a better value during that timeframe, so I probably won’t be upgrading(or playing much) till after the new year.

Character Slots too expensive now?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BrooksP.4318

I sure as hell wouldn’t substitute a new restricted account for a character slot, you need to take into account everything you’ve unlocked outfit/bag wise also, not just the price of the slot itself.

Outfits sure, but since bag slots are character bound anyways it is a moot point. Bank slots, shared bank, and account bound stuff would be the biggest drawback. The restrictions however wouldn’t be much of an issue, since you could bypass some of them by adding your two accounts as “mutual friends” and send stuff from main to alt.

While getting an extra slot compared to F2P account would be a better option, I think many will see the value of character slots not to be worth it. We will also see if the Gold to Gem price decreases due to increase of Gems seeded via F2P accounts. But I doubt it, due to TP/BLTC limitations may not cause much incentive for F2P players to buy Gems or convert.

The restrictions were datamined by the almighty that_shaman long ago.

Only one or two character slots

Limit of level 15

Seems like a limit on how high a “rank” you can get (specific to trial or possibly PvP related)

Only able to send mail to friends.

Can’t send items or gold through mail

Can’t speak in map chat

Can’t access Team Arenas

Can’t access main WvW maps (EB and Borderlands)

Can’t sell items on TP.

http://thatshaman.blogspot.com.es/2014/07/upcoming-features-from-entanglement.html

Like we’ve said a lot in this thread, these do not gel with what’s said in the leaked trailer, and that datamine is from over a year ago. It’s not necessarily relevant.

It does, however, show that ArenaNet is aware that restrictions need to exist to protect the game’s economy.

Also those restrictions seem more for a trial account then a F2P account. Doubt thats accurate.

Lets do that for all the legend aswell, i always wanted a enternity but i didnt want to put 2 into 1; With ur idea i can finally get things for cheaper. I mean, why have stuff stay so high right? lets make it go back to the good old days of 200-300 gold per legend. Let precusor have a % of drop from every bandit chest and bag open. +1

The difference is currently precursors have a infinite amount, just throttled due to RNG, however with limited time items you’re stuck with a finite amount. So the value on precursors could decrease due to increased usage of MF or increased amount of drops which increases the chance of drops, or Anet messing with the drop rate which I’m sure they’ve done. Whereas with limited items the value only increases due to scarcity until the market runs out.

With time limited items you can still remove the limited aspect while still keeping the value high due to limited accusation chance, but at least there still would be a chance.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gold to gems isn’t really designed for new players in the first place, really its meant to keep older players playing by allowing them to use excess wealth for gem items. Usually how these systems work actually relies on new players to seed the gems by using RL cash in order to get a boost in gold starting out.

made thousands of gold using a spreadsheet and playing the market.

I think I just found something that sounds even less fun than chest farming.

Use to do that in Eve, its not something you really actively do but more passively, so you are usually doing something else while doing it. Where as with chest farming you usually have to be more focused on following the tag. So both are equally boring, personally don’t bother doing market stuff in GW2.

Bought GW2 during the first round of sales on release, but deleted all of my initial characters, kind of upset about that now. Wish birthdays where account based and not character.

Trust me you would not want this in the long run as it would mean you only get 1 gift per year for ALL your chars. Sure for a lot of people the gifts may not seem like worth having alts for but in my case with those lvl 20 scrolls over 8 chars you can see it’s better this way. :P

True enough. Though it could be done account based but really slot based instead of character. So say initially you get 5 slots because players start default with that many, then the timer starts when ever you buy a new slot.

Using my case I would have 5 slots eligible for 3 years due to initial slots, then 2 slots going on 1 year since I bought 2 slots about a year ago.

Granted while kind of upset about it, I’m just tossing that idea out, but not really serious about thinking they should do it. I’ll get over it.

How to do SW:

Play the events or chest farm, and once the cycle is over, LOOK AT THE INVENTORY and note all the T6 mats, cores, lodestones, expensive cloth craftim materials and so on. THOSE, if sold, make the gold. It’s really easy to forget about them if you use “deposit collectables”.

ty for the info how do exactly the chest farm work in comparisson to event trains?

Buy a bunch of keys(and have shovels ready if you got them), then follow the tag and wait for the chest to be unburied, unlock and move on. Thats it really.

Also from what I’ve heard its more profitable to open champ/chest bags on a level ~50
character due to downgraded mats being worth more. Haven’t tested this personally since all characters are 80 so not sure.
