Stephen and the other tech guy seem like they were added to the team recently to help figure out what is going on? The only other guy on the wvw team is Tyler, who is a guy that doesn’t play wvw and seems genuinely confused in the Ready Ups.
Who? What’s a Ready Up?
As for the big wvw update being scrapped for “small incremental improvements.”
Why am I learning this from my opponent in a forum post, ANET?
Thanks for the down-votes and for the thread on the official forums, “Wrong answer again RIP WvW”. You know I’m actually here to help.
If you want to help
1) Communicte with us HERE, not reddit!
2) Listen to us
Can’t hate on the forum poster. He’s the only reason I know that you EVEN. SAID. ANYTHING. He’s doing your job for you. As well as the guy above that quoted your response. WHICH I ALSO. DIDN’T. SEE.
Is this a good thing? In the 2.5 hours of WvW I’ve played since the new BLs came out, I never saw this happen.
People don’t realize the role of FPS in timed jumping puzzles (clock tower, winter wonderland, zephyrite puzzles). If you don’t have 20+ fps, you literally cannot run to the edge of a platform for that long jump. You jump too soon or you run off the edge or your direction correction didn’t go through.
I know this for a fact because I mastered clocktower and winter wonderland in a few hours in 2012. Then I lost my video card and was on integrated video in 2013. These were literally unplayable now. When people are saying they can’t do them and don’t even try, it’s not from lack of practice.
The really enraging thing was that the FPS drop was due to unnecessary particle effects.
The most aggravating thing about these guys for me is that my shield that specifically is supposed to reflect bullets, doesn’t work on these guys.
I’ve already quit the game. As soon as I finished the first zone and stepped in to Auric Basin and saw the new mastery line that I wouldn’t even obtain until I had left the zone, I had no desire to play any more. They may have spent the last 2 years making 5 zones but for me it was all spent making 1 zone, and not one where I want to spend my time.
I don’t want to add a low quality comment, but I want to point out that only half the complaints are “too much PvE”. An equal or even greater number is saying “not enough PvP”.
I followed a commander around for an hour on what I was told was the new reset night, took all the keeps on our home BL, saw 5 enemies putting up resistance, and no seige. Was lost most of the time.
Could not enter my story instance Prisoners of the Dragon, quit and relaunched, DID NOT download a new patch, now getting 1083 error.
I STILL have no idea what these things do. They don’t have a page on the wiki.
The short answer is because you have to take the risk of attacking otherwise it wouldn’t be an interesting interaction.
If you want to discuss a mechanic that’s fine but I humbly suggest not assuming you know so much about design that you can lecture professional designers about something. It’s poor form.
This completely reasonable response utterly fails once the number of attackers blankets the wall in an unending mass of intersecting red circles, unrestrained by coolddowns or anything else. The combination of precise positioning and 2 second casts (staff ele) means I get to sit out the assault in the center of the tower until they rush in.
tldr I’m really tired of being focused down or falling off the fricking wall while trying to find a casting position for my first attack.
This is one of the reasons I’ve stopped playing. I have well over 50% of my T6 mats, all but two of my gifts…but I need to level both an amorsmith and an attifacer on an alt to get them. All I need is a guide and some gold? I’ve never had more than 200 gold, ever. And I STILL need to buy a precursor (last I checked about 3-400 gold, not huge demand). As a primary WvW player, and mostly a support ele at that, I don’t have any income. The impossibility of getting my Legendary even after thousands of hours of gameplay, plus the wasting death of WvW to terminal neglect has driven me from the game. And I decided this week I won’t be buying HoT either. I’m not interested in yet another grind.
WvWers have no income? So the hundreds of top tier bags you get each day don’t count as income? The non-stop loot for ranking up? The badges you can turn into siege to sell? None of this is income to you? It isn’t anets fault that you spend all of your gold on other stuff and don’t want to invest it into the legendary.
I guess you didn’t read my post, so all I can do is just type it again with different words. I don’t have any WvW income. I don’t get bags dropping waters for my commander. I don’t SELL my seige, I DEPLOY IT. I don’t spend my gold on anything except bank slots. I don’t have any income to spend

The no-white-swords “experiment” was the last straw for me. But it’s really been the lopsided matches, the repetitive matches, and the astonishingly bad tournament design leading to both of the above, plus CHANGING the game mechanics in the middle of a tournament. The difficulty and boredom of sentry duty, yak escorts, and upgrading, and the complete lack of income during the hours I’m doing this.
The funny thing is, as soon as I stopped playing WvW, I stopped playing GW2. I’ve collected my monthly once since January. I’ve logged in (and out) ~ 30 times in the last 5 months. Turns out, WvW wasn’t something I did on the side of my PvE. PvE was my side activity outside of WvW.
Maguuma tanked for 2 weeks to get into silver and were still forced into gold….and then imploded when facing another pointless 6 weeks. There truly is no point to gold league with such disparity.
No. Clearly, they are achievement hunters. This is the only way to get Ultimate whatever, and if they manage to get that, they are welcome to it.
As for WvW dev’s (instead of me) coming into the forum’s, they are most likely busy with HoT which is why they have enlisted me. I am not a “be all end all” WvW guru, i am here to help bring common concerns directly to Arenanet in order to help communication become smoother and more effective.
In bold for the slow people in here. Stop raging for no whatsoever reason. Give the man a chance.
I wish I could double bold what you’ve bolded. The key phrase is “BUSY WITH HOT”. WvW isn’t going to get any fixes. Everybody just go read the Serenity prayer.
Pulp Fiction made $200M, why would you tell a story in order?!
Maybe they’ll nerf karma and lord drops to trash until you’ve held a tower for 15 minutes, scaling with the number of structures you hold. That’ll kill the k-train faster than anything else.
If people are running supplies, it’s either to do a 15+ golem rush or a castle is about to fall after an extended siege. Supply camps can’t help in either case, and the enemy probably controls the roads and the camps in the later case. So, if you’re arguing against ferrying supply, you are primarily arguing against these two situations.
If the castle is about to fall after an extended siege and all supply is being controlled by the siegers, they have succeeded in their sieging. I don’t see a problem there.
Why would allowing a 15+ golem rush using off-map supply be a good idea?
In many matchups there is often a roaming 60+ zerg off map that will return as soon as an attack on garrison begins. The map itself is empty because, well, it’s already monocolor. A multi golem rush is a way to either take that garrison, or get an interesting lord room fight, or to clear seige for the next attack. The alternatives being, of course, to be slaughtered by AOE from above trying to use rams or catas, or building open field seige that is steamrolled and erased regardless of the outcome of the open-field battle.
Using on map supply would take 30 minutes and likely not be a suprise, bringing the zerg back prematurely, and killing the attacking group of terminal boredom.
Also, waypoints is an alternate form of keeping score than PPT.
I hope this explanation has opened you up to new strategies and enhances your WvW experience!
I had a weird experience today. Usually, to get the bell choir daily you need just one correct note. I did a bunch, but didn’t get the daily. It was really weird.
I think you need to complete a song (not get kicked out). You get no credit for notes in a song that ejects you.
Oppose any change the requires me to move to Lag Arch to use my bank. And maybe get queued too.
Some people have vacations that last 2 weeks. In fact, it’s something of a standard to take 2 weeks off at least once a year during economic highs. Particularly when Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and New Years are all on weekdays.
You’re only about the 2,000th apologist to point out that it’s free for two weeks. It’s about as enlightened as a television network claiming “you can watch this show between the hours of 9pm and 10pm only and if you ‘timeshift’ it you owe us money and if you don’t pay you are a pirate”.
You’re probably not going to read this on page 19, but I haven’t advanced a level on my alt (level 20 mesmer) since NPE was released and I’m not going to. I don’t want to be locked in to one build for 10s of levels, and I don’t like constantly dieing because I can’t access both high-dps builds but also CC-builds when faced with more than 2 enemies.

lets see today’s daily, craft an exotic, nope too expensive,
Exotic luck and ascended mats count for this daily.
The purpose of bloodlust is to concentrate roamers so they can find each other, as indicated by the non-gray color.
Ahh, weather effects. The most commonly known, single, fastest way, to increase lag exponentially, in every game out their. Sure, who doesn’t want more of that?
Sure, because the snow that already drifts in northern borderlands causes so much lag. And the rain in EBG. The sandstorms are a bit laggy, I admit, but they could tone it down to a fog distance limit and simply add a post process layer instead of the craziness they have in Dry Top. Wanna know how I know this? I’m a friggin graphics programmer. It can be done with almost zero performance impact.
In fact, using fogging to limit view distance would increase performance thanks to the innate culling effect.
This is getting a bit off topic now. I’m not a graphics programmer. But I am a GW2 player. Due to a video card failure, I’ve played both with a video card and without, and I can say that GW2 does not need high end video hardware EXCEPT where there are atomospheric or particle effect. Which makes the game unplayable. The real sin is that these effects, that render the game unplayable, were (pre- drytop) entirely for aesthetics.
Timed jumping puzzles require a minimum FPS. In 2012 I could do Clocktower and WW on demand. In 2013, I did neither not even once (both because of fog effects). In Drytop, I had to be ported to the top because of the fire effect at the top. I did the whole JP just fine until the end because of something added to be pretty, that didn’t have any gameplay role at all. I got a new video card, and did clocktower and WW multiple times this year.
The point is, even though it is possible to do this with zero performance impact, GW2 certainly doesn’t do so. And it would be wrong to have to boost the minimum specs for something that that’s purely for looks and should be toggle-able in the video settings.
On topic, I already despise the almost omni-present blizzard that prevents me from trebbing the SE tower from hills keep.
the only ones who benefit from “no white swords” are ppl trying to ninja objectives against under-populated servers.
So your dishonestly claiming that absolutely no one at all, benefits by being capable of ninja taking keeps now unless they are against under populated servers?
It’s not a step in the right direction, it’s the exact opposite: it encourages all the wrong types of gameplay.
It is absolutely a step in the right direction as I see it.
What is the matter with you people? I keep reading posts like this saying it’ll encourage small group play. But it also encourges EOTM karma training. It discourages upgrades. The point is, with 1 large group flash-taking T1 undefended buildings as fast as possible (60 seconds on the paper door, 30 seconds on lord, 2 minutes between targets), WHO. NEEDS. YOU. You, the ninja teams. The havoc squads. You’re not needed any more. So what if it makes ninja’ing a keep easier? The blob is still better at it than you. The blob meta wins.
Not only that, but you’re going to start getting abuse from the k-trainers on your team for denying them loot.
Your small squad meta is going to die out. It’s going to die out because you get tired of abuse from your own server. Or because every time you go to a BL you see everything your color because the blob took it. Or because you’ve realized that PPT is even more pointless now that servers are trading buildings for karma instead of holding for points.

Revert? I wouldn’t be surprised if this was declared a success and permanently implemented.
I totally expect this outcome and predicted it before the patch.
I recommend bringing along an wintersday bell so that you can keep yourself entertained while waiting for an attack that never comes. You got nothing else to do.
2300 hours, no precursor, not enough gold to buy one, and only about ~120 each on my T6 mats.
I got 80 clovers though. How was I supposed to know they’d start putting them in boxes. What a waste.
I already make less than a gold a day escorting yaks, spend all of that re-upgrading camps, and now that will all be wasted by Anet’s new emphasis on flipping properties as fast as possible.
As for finishers, you have a free one by default. (So it doesn’t force people to buy one.) You really just buy them if you don’t want the standard finisher. (Or you can earn them in game.)
Sure, you can earn them in game by doing anything OTHER than WvW. 20 sPVP finishers but not even one for 100s of hours of WvW.
I saw a ranger named Arrrrggghhh. He had a black panther named “The Black Beast of Arrrrggghhh”.
…Your character is Involved in the story, YOU are witnessing the past, to understand whether someone you thought was a friend…
I’m not witnessing the past, I’m playing the past – something that’s a fixed event that already should have happened, but gives me the illusion of having some sort of control over it, which is false.
I’d just like to point out that Ubisoft sold 70 million copies of a game that lets people play the past, so Anet can be forgiven for thinking that people might like that sort of thing.
I finally got around to finishing the chapter. I’d never played a thief before (full time scepter ele). I didn’t like it, I won’t ever make one now.
A lot of people (maybe most) don’t like being ganked, or taking long runs back from spawn, or being camped at the spawn, or being pinned down on a 2 ft wide choke point in perma combat, unable to jump, from fire from above. I guess you didn’t realize this.
I also enjoyed this puzzle, it is almost as good as the Aetherblade puzzle (which is really stellar but very difficult), only much easier. The checkpointing system was perfect, for 1 s it made failure pretty painless. It was very good that the speed buff wasn’t really required (if it was it would have turned into another timed-skill JP and I wouldn’t have been able to explore, or even think)
I really suggest people not look at a walk through, but treat it as an exploration quest. This does require you to remember where you’ve been, which forks you’ve taken, and how to get back to them to take the other path, classic RPG style. Some paths bypass chests (and probably badges), so you have to find all of the paths.
The trial and error at the end was not so fun…it is okay a few times "Ha Ha back to the start!’ but their were a LOT of tunnels to test and memorize. (Hint: There’s only 1 go to jail square and 2 jail cards in Monopoly…what if there were 20?)
The whole thing took about 4 hours for me, 2 hours just on the last section. I found 3 chests, and there are still at least 3 badges that I couldn’t figure out how to reach, yet. There’s also a really long dead path near the end that must have a chest or badge at the end, or maybe it’s just a cruel diversion)
How do I get the boots ? They are not as a option to buy , have’nt gotten any in chests …….. Anyone ?
Thanks !! Opened alot of chests and did’nt get any , RNG suck
How do I get the order ? Any idea ?
Do the event at the NE corner of the map that let’s you get access to the JP.
Not that one. You want to do the defence event for the order.
Not true, I did opening event and got the achievement and the order (on Tuesday).
Me. After over 2 years, I’ve quit for good in October. Season 3 was the last straw. Mag didn’t belong in gold and didn’t want to be in gold, and after the season was over, and even though we were T3-4-5, nobody came back. I don’t know who’s doing the PPT on Mag but they don’t play when I’m on.
I’m pretty much only on for 6 hours a month for Living Story now, it looks like.
A friend who hasn’t played GW2 since 2013 just got a new computer and said he would play GW2 again. I told him he’d have to buy the entire first half of season 2 and he’s not coming back now. gg anet.
Would he be more interested if he could not play it at all?
And claiming that he have to buy it is actually incorrect.
He can join someone else (you?) who have it unlocked in order to do it. Or simply start with the current chapter, since you don’t have to do the chapters in order.
That, quite frankly, is a rather stupid-trolling question. Obviously, he would be more interested if he didn’t have to pay at all.
Apparently, there are people who will start watching a tv serial in the middle, start reading a book in the middle, and start playing games in the middle. I guess you are one of them. For other people, having half of something that is supposed to be a whole (not something broken into parts) has a value that is less than nothing. You want half a Ming vase?
As for Anet, now not only do they not get the unlock fees, they don’t get to skim his AH transactions (he was a major AH mogul in GW2 and WoW) at least some of which involved gold from gems purchased with cash.

“Strange thing is, i had that “bandit buff” or whatever on me which made the bandits green mobs, but other players could attack and kill me. When i died and wanted to wp i simply revived there on the spot instantly. It was really weird. After i left that area the buff came off though.
Wait. WAIT WAIT WAIT. Anet has finally introduced dueling?! Thank heavens!
I hope it gets a whole new layout, maybe even incorporate the Pact and minor races somehow a bit more.
I’d love to see a Skritt section or some Hylek architecture pocketed away. There’s already a skritt section, a bunch of them took over the northwest cavern right after we liberated the city.
Really? I wondered why the mean pirates were lounging out on the hill looking very glum and mute and un-piratey.
Skeletor doesn’t know walls are destructable.
At this point, since they are unwilling and unable to fix it, they should go back to the 24 hour matches we had 24 months ago.
The guild bank is were people keep their guild catas and their guild feasts. It needs to be available (especially when servers are queued and you can’t leave).
The annoying low framerate and the instant dead upon failure makes me rage hard. I enjoy harder content but successfully jumping to the diving goggles seems to be more luck than skill for me.
THIS. THIS THIS THIS. ANET Pay attention to THIS.
This is not the first JP where atmospherics have made an otherwise fun and doable JP impossible. The stupid fire at the top drops me down to 7 fps.
People say get a better computer, but its not an issue anywhere else in the game. If the entire game is playable EXCEPT a JP with fancy particles, it’s the JP that’s broken.
People don’t realize it, but FPS is everything in a JP, particularly a timed JP. At low FPS, your character seems to take extra steps even if you hands are off the keyboard. You can’t angle accurately. You can’t stand at the edge for a hard jump. You can’t make mid-air corrections. You can’t chain jumps.
Last year, with a nvidia 670, I did mad king’s clock tower and winter wonderland daily until I was sick of them. So I certainly can do them. This year, I didn’t complete either even once. (video card power regulation burned out). That’s the difference between 8 fps and 40. And why was the fps so low? Fog. Nothing actually important. Just fog. Which I can’t turn off.
@Evon: That was the easiest and first Master crystal I got! What’re you talking about, “evil”? Pfha!
I didn’t go to dulfy.net lol
Neither did I. I ended up spotting it as I slipped while trying to get to a Charged Crystal.
I only went to dulfy for the general location (not the way to) the final 2 Masters since I looked everywhere for them. One of them was on that cliff where you have to fall from the waypoint…. sneaky one. The other… was painfully obvious. >.<
The thing about that crystal is that if you work on getting the two sky crystals on the cliff, the master crystal is in plain sight, and it’s a simple hop down to get it. The two sky crystals, on the other hand, are the most evil items in the game.
How do I get the order ? Any idea ?
