I enjoyed 7 weeks in last place in Season 1 more than 7ish weeks in 5th place in Season 2.
Nine straight weeks of Maguuma vs. DB is bad for both Maguuma and DB. Kerbal Space Program was on sale last week…haven’t been back to GW2 since.
Two sentences of a dragon and that’s it. No one saying, “shouldn’t we go try to find the dragon?” Instead it’s, “my leg hurts,” “I don’t wanna talk about things, I wanna make things,” “I just asked for a chicken,” and “here’s my sister, and I’m a lesbian.” They vaguely alluded to Scarlet interrupting the leyline because she wanted to mess with the dragon. So… Mord didn’t ask her to do it? Why isn’t anyone worried about a new dragon? Why isn’t anyone researching the new dragon?
Why isn’t anyone worried about a new dragon?
Did you miss the part where Marjory’s sister says she going to Brisban Wildlands for a while?
Has anyone been to Brisban to see if there are any changes yet?
This.
The next living story will be in Brisbane Wildlands (and maybe a parallel story about rebuilding Lion’s Arch.) Brisbane Wildlands. You know, in the jungle. Where a dragon lives?
It’s harkening back to the Marionette event (iirc), where Kasmeer admits that she gets hiccups when she’s nervous or anxious.
She did this in the Tower of Nightmares. I don’t know if there’s an earlier reference.
The first time I killed a knight I actually killed all three (rotating train), but I think I forgot to loot them. The next time I also killed all three and got 10 gear boxes from the first knight and nothing from the other two. Since then I’ve gotten nothing from almost all kills (I have area loot enabled), although I did get 3 boxes from one knight and somehow I got a colored core.
I’ve just assumed that you get the massive gearbox dump only once.
ANet, when I’m paying 50 silver, or 100 spores, I need to know what I’m going to be buying.
I was exploring towards the pirate cave and I had two separate lasers targetting me non-stop, slightly off from each other, guaranteeing I could never revive a citizen and killing them when they get up.
The lasers seem to look for a new target if they actually hit you. At least, that happened when I was trying to revive a player near the dive tower.
I got the cutscene again even when I logged into a character that’s 1) been to LA since the patch and 2) was in Rata Sum.
I think (and dont quote me on this) that whenever there’s is a patch (to fix a bug or something) it resets as if you had never watched it.
Well, this certainly was the case when they reset it to be character-based and not account bound. So every character got to see it once more for sure.
Just had an Aetherblade miasma event spawn in the plaza 2 minutes before Lawson. Considering you can only attempt Lawson once per hour and I was there to attempt Lawson (for the 4th time), Anet just wasted my hour.
I think raisin face didnt make it
This is the only dialog near the bank I don’t despise! It’s actually pretty awesome.
Kiel wouldn’t let me evac on her precious airship and left me for dead in Lion’s Arch (at :45 in Fort Marriner). I’m an Evon Gnashblade supporter now.
So has anyone figured out who died? Anet said that one of the memorable characters died.
Lawson Marriner dies every hour on my server. Anet should make that the canonical outcome.
no please i love looping at our base..
on the other hand, jumping when in combat should result in death :P
A friend suggested teleporting the person back up in the downed state so whoever they were running from could finish them off.
How are they using the WP while in combat?
It’s true, you can jump off the cliff while in combat and if you’re quick enough you can port to WP because you fall long/far enough to exit combat.
There is/was some weird thing with EotM. Last night I was stuck in combat even after dying and ressing at the spawn point. Seemed like I had to wait for the people I attacked to die/leave.
This happened to me too. I couldn’t waypoint from spawn to keep, couldn’t run, jumped off twice and was in combat when I respawned each time. Suffered armor damaged too. Was 5 minutes before whoever tagged me finally died.
Some people call it stupid and lame, I call it strategic. You can pull/push people from bridges and narrow paths, if they stay on them, its their own fault.
Also, its kittening funny to see 5 bodies falling to death.
“if they leave their base, it’s their own fault” is what you meant to type, I think. It’s the same thing, anyways.
Hey! HEY! Look at the fourth image. Look at it again. Look at it carefully.
Yes… it’s true…
FLYING DOLYAK MOUNTS confirmed!
Well it would speed up supplies in keeps a bit
Patch notes: Flying dolyak mounts are no longer usable in WvW. Flying dolyaks no longer spawn at camps.
Why do people always complain when something is hard and requires a little coordination ? Do people really want everything so easy and boring it’s just run in with a random zerg of strangers and beat it down?
If you don’t want to be a little social and put some effort in something then don’t. Let the people that do, do it. Why is that so hard for people? I just don’t get it.
It is the baggage of random, bad, lazy, rude, and otherwise unpleasant folks that often show up only for loot in a completely uncontrolled “open” world event. You know the part where you bust you hump to get the boss to 1 percent only to see 10 people Afk on the waypoint?
No, it’s because coordination is generally unavailable and follows a fixed, inevitable curve: it starts out low, grows over a period of two-three weeks as people figure out the fight, then as participation drops either because people stop doing it (been there done that), or dedicated guilds are so large they close membership, it drops to nothing. Permanently. Unless TTS deigns to guest on your server. Surprise!
This design approach is inherently self-defeating. Even the “permanent” content we’ve been demanding is temporary.
I’ve been playing since beta. But your game is unplayable. Look at the content you just released: mass aoe, dodging, poison. I can’t play this watching my character just stand in a red circle for 10 seconds, only to have it replay back the entire fight and my death right after. I don’t know if it’s your servers, or your network, or comcast’s network or whose, but your game is unplayable. It’s been like this for weeks, but now with the new content playing is pointless. It affects NO other game or application.
Here is my network trace. I don’t know what the problem is but it has to be fixed.

The exploding presents…
Frustrated to tears. That’s me.
The puzzle was so enjoyable last year.
Anyway, I am slowly getting the hang of it… I just don’t like it, anymore. PvP setup makes everything uglier. :/
I agree. I did this all season last year (along with clock tower). I did not do the clock tower this year, and I won’t do wonderland this year either. Timed puzzles should not be pvp. PvP puzzles should not be timed.
Really, no puzzles should be pvp. I don’t really care about the ‘score’. Nobody does, except the dev who thought of it. And now I have even less view of where I’m jumping because I have an irrelevant team listing on the left and an irrelevant death record on the right.
People say I don’t have to do it. And I won’t. But I also won’t be doing the fun version, because Anet deleted it. That’s what the complaint is about.
Almost everything about Wintersday 2012 was perfect., the snowball CTF game was awesome. I liked the halloween mobo game (not as much as the snowball game) and was disappointed that it wasn’t brought back, and was afraid they’d ditch the snowbal game too. Also liked the bell game and the jumping puzzle.
edit: I only attempted toypocalypes twice, maybe three times. The one sour note last year.
In T1 you very infrequently have outmanned. Usually there is a queue for all borderlands, and especially EB. A change focused on the outmanned buff, does little to nothing. If you reduce the stored supply in all keeps/towers to 200, you make it very difficult for a zerg to fill up on supply for an all out attack. If you make it so that towers/keeps lose all their supply when they flip, then if the zerg performs an all out attack using a massive amount of supply, the attack ends when they flip their objective. With these two zerg supply limits in place, it then becomes safe to raise player supply capacity to 20. You don’t need the outmanned buff to dictate this at all.
Maguuma is technically T2 and we are outmanned on 2-3 maps at all times.
It’s…both. Bars have historically been timers (a year ago I thought they were real, only to realize they were timers). I think the it’s driven by player input. But like any gathering quest, the progress for each contribution shrinks according to how many players are in the area. So when the content is nearly abandoned, the meter will keep advancing more fore each completion, and will fill about when ANet figured it would fill.
This will all be explained as a short story on the web site which none of us will see.
Arena Net needs sometime to advertise.
They are advertising. I’ve seen it. They are advertising “Free DLC every two weeks”. LW is not going away.
I’m sure we spent at least 30 minutes looking for another boss room in story mode. After suiciding to get the 2nd rod in.
I have to admit there might be some merit to this. I know that I consistently feel dismay when I’ve broken off from the zerg to solo camps, and find myself taking a camp with 2-4 other people. There’s an undefended tower nearby, but taking it means 5 minutes of running supply, a long time with 0 rams up, and a long time with only 1 ram up, and odds are we get overrun right about the time we finish the 2nd ram. If small groups were more capable, people would run them more. And map volatility is a good thing.
However, more supply probably isn’t a good answer. In most cases, a blob vs blob keep assault succeeds or fails when they cap the circle, or run out of supply. Doubling the supply will just prolong the fight. In all honesty, if they fend you off and destroy your seige, they deserve to see you pack it up and go home.

Fundamental problem of the game. I’ve been stuck in the reward chests for Maw shaman and Southshore instigators, and I got stuck in dredge transport vehicles multiple times. Probably many other examples I can’t remember.
I wasn’t able to solo it on my first attempt, so I went back out to find a partner. That person had already done it 3 times, so I never saw ‘story mode’. NPCs would show up at random times though. Once I had Braham instead of Kasmeer show up.
In certain traits my staff ele can always cast another swiftness (staff 4, heal 6, reduced CD) before it expires, so I should be able to stack swiftness indefinitely…but I’ve never been able to get much more than 55 seconds – 70 seconds.
I have been kicked out of 5/7 attempts to join the final Nightmare tower instance. Each time I had more than 1 party member and joining from overflow.
Plus it’s almost impossible to find anybody wanting to group to do this.
(edited by Brow.9425)
I can’t hardly get a group because it is solo-able for most other players. When I do get a group, it says ‘cannot connect to login server’ and now my group is inside and I am alone in my own instance.
I have yet to run this in a group (after my initial run). Been trying for an hour.
There is another thread on this, but I’ll summarize it. Most people think it is a really bad idea. ANET is the exception and the only vote that counts though.
Anet the only vote that counts? We are the consumers. Our voice is the most important.
Yep, they constantly prove they do not hold much value for customer opinion.
Or that they clearly don’t understand the concept of a tournament.
It was a horrible daily. I still needed tower offshoot events, so I thought I would do them at the same time.
After about the sixth offshoot event, I had 30% daily gatherer and 15% daily gardener. WTF. I then went around looking for spore nodes, the locations of which I hadn’t memorized. That took a while.
Would rather it would just give me credit for the ones that I was actively farming.
They NEED to do the thing that WoW did which was very sucessful which is phasing so we can do both the old and new area and still give the living world feel.
No No No No … No No No No No No … No No No No.
In case you didn’t get the message. No.
Phasing is not a good thing.
Phasing did not work so well. Right up until cataclysm the icecrown citadel meeting stone was in a phased area. And it still was after. It was just a whole new set of bugs to not fix.
Is this a new event? I don’t think it’s working. I was only able to complete it once after many attempts. I’m not sure if it’s a chain or not.
1) NPC is suicidal.
1a) NPC somehow beelined to the center of the ruins and died, or teleported.
1b) NPC runs to circle, stands and fights for a while, then runs out to fight 3 krait, then the entire NPC party gets simultaneously 1 shot by something, then all revived, then they run out NW of the event area fighting krait or standing on the hill for the remainder of the 10 minutes.
1c) NPC is in almost perpetual combat in the ruins, so if it she is supposed to tour the capture points, it’s not going to happen.
2) Capture points don’t advance even if all hostiles are outside the circle.
2a) Capture points don’t advance even if all hostiles are outside the circle, the NPCs are inside the circle, and all are alive.
2b) Capture by people in the ruins starts as soon as the event starts, long before the NPC arrives. Several complete, but not all three.
3) Multiple capture flags on mini-map when there is only 1 capture bar left (which isn’t advancing).
4) No NPC defend shield on minimap, nor downed ally icons, but event still hasn’t failed.
5) Upon completion, NPC shows a quest marker, but was unable to speak to to her due to massive numbers of mobs that needed to be cleaned up and the NPC is always in combat. Somebody else managed to speak to her, and she ran towards the water and into 3 toxic krait who kill her before I could aggro any. Speech dialog was the same “we have to hurry” dialog during the original event.
6) Apparently, NPCs are reviving hostiles, but I didn’t witness this because I stopped attempting the event.
I agree. It should have been in PvE originally, but maybe the AI didn’t support it. They only recently started introducing it with the Clockwork Chaos patch a month or two ago. What’s new about it is that certain mobs are tagged as “rezzers” who are bound and determined to get the down-state mobs back up. That’s probably the AI that was lacking and would make the downstate otherwise pointless without it. Now that they have it, it can be introduced more and more as content gets pumped to the players.
It still doesn’t support it. Friendly NPCs are apparently rezzing the hostiles.
I’m surprised, too. Last year Labyrinth was full to the end of the season. On Maguuma this year it’s just 5-10 people killing mobs for daily minion slayer. Can’t even kill the Horror.
I really enjoyed this as well. Lunatic Courtiers was too much like Hunger Games. Sorry to see Anet prefers HG/LC/SS.
The capture the flag game better be back for Winter’s Veil.
The UI in many ways is a complete disaster. I switched to simple party interface recently because I simply couldn’t see anything. But that’s just one element.
Play WvW sometime (we know that almost nobody at anet does this). Need to rush to the west keep on the west borderlands (with only a 1 second window to do this)? You can’t, it’s UNDER the UI. You have to zoom out, scroll, zoom in, scroll. Need to warp to the east keep on the minimap? You can’t, the UI expands out to cover up the waypoint when you try.
Need to meteor storm that treb on top of the southwest tower? You need to target a spot that is in range, has LOS, and is not covered by the UI. Pick 2. While you’re futzing around trying to get the spot that is in range and in LOS out from under the UI into that tiny space between the portrait and the living story tracker, somebody jumps down and kills you. Wait, why isn’t meteor storm firing? I’m pushing 5-5! I’m clicking! Hurry up before they see me! Oh, what’s that there? Apparently, I’ve started reporting an enemy payer for something because I’ve clicked on the kitten portrait and I can’t do anything until I dismiss it. Now I’m dead.
Ditto for aiming arrow carts, which have a special LOS requirement: ground not blocked by gates, walls, chat, party portraits, enemy portraits, achievement trackers, living story trackers, building supply trackers, building upgrade trackers, holiday/event announcements, or boss health (all of which are simultaneously present).
In the first week of patch, Renewal of Earth consistently revived 0-1 npcs in WvW. At least once with the circle smack on a camp super. Several times on clumps of hyleks. It’s supposed to revive 3, and it only revives one.
It clearly doesn’t respect the targeting circle. I even have expanded aoe traited. But those hyleks were all next to each other.
I didn’t really have time to test this under controlled conditions, I was playing the game and usually in combat with masses of krait at the time.
It works correctly in Nageling. I just spent two hours trying to verify this in WvW for this post, but your algorithm has cleverly put me in the red keep for the next 7 weeks. This is futile.
This skill is now completely useless under water. Thanks very much. Did people actually request that this skill be ground targeted? See also https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/elementalist/ground-target-glyph-of-renewal.
I didn’t intentionally finish-cancel-finish but somehow I got credit for 20 using only 10 finishers. I got interrupted plenty of times. I also noticed that I got credit even if I didn’t deliver the killing blow (no xp). I suspect that after the patch, it’s consuming finishers even if somebody else delivers the killing blow before you finish.
I’ve gotten 2 finisher drops off of door mobs (not chests/trick or treat bags).
Making some sweet sweet love to FA……..
LOL OMG!!! Hilarious – That song fits perfectly.
Based on the first page of this thread I was expecting a video with this song:
Original title that was too long: Discounted Transfers = League Seeding Meaningless
You know, I’ve really resisted posting any directly negative things. But this news posting I see today leaves me flabbergasted. Not 24 hours ago I read a post from Chris Whiteside about how you absolutely do read our feedback. And then I see this announcement, not 24 hours later. You’re reading, but you’re not comprehending. It’s not reaching whoever makes decisions, or whoever makes decisions just doesn’t care.
If really have been reading the forums, then you know, you KNOW, that the biggest problem in WvW is lopsided matches. Servers playing in tiers where they don’t belong. You added randomness to the matchmaking to break up frozen tiers. It actually made things worse, with T4 going up against T1 because of ‘randomness.’
If the league seeding was going to work, you needed to FREEZE transfers weeks ago, when the season was announced. You could then use the following weeks of preseason matches to properly seed the leagues. LIKE A REAL LEAGUE. I understand that this would be hugely unpopular, and you didn’t do it. Okay.
But what I didn’t expect is that you would go out of your way to encourage people to leave their servers, just DAYS before the league starts. Now server performance is completely uncorrelated to the data you have leading up to the league. Servers where people left aren’t going to be well matched where you put them. Servers people switched to aren’t going to play like the server they thought they were switching to, and are now stuck on. Leagues are going to be blowouts, with depleted and bandwagon servers in the wrong leagues, based on their previous population.
Its just unbelievable how you sabotage the very thing you’ve been promoted as the biggest WvW event of the year, just to sell some gems.
This is severe. I went out and got latest drivers immediately after but I’m sure it won’t help. Very hard to move around the Foreman pirate’s traps with precision at < 10 fps.
Revamping Tequatl to be impossible is fine, but don’t we need something from the Jormag vendor for our legendaries? What if your server never downs Tequatl? What if your server never downs Jormag 2.0? No more legendaries on the entire server, EVER? This is a real problem. I’ve seen it a lot in WvW, and the effect of morale in GW2. People in T8 servers never got their world completion because the three servers with the lowest WvW participation were the same colors, every week, for 12+ weeks straight. I don’t like my progress to depend on 99 other people, from a demoralized server (I give prime-time Teq another week, the last Teq fight I was at had like 10 people), where only griefers show up.
I guess none of you have had the problem of being booted to a overflow when you WP…
I have NEVER had this problem.
The promise was 3 mini-dungeons. The reality was one dungeon as long as any other…a grueling dungeon with no waypoints and no repair…and for a long time, no disconnects, no rage quits tolerated.
I don’t have time for full dungeons and I very quickly stopped running fractals, only getting to level 5; never got an ascended ring, never got an infusion.
P.S. Never found a group that didn’t abort at swamp…that’s time wasted in swamp, plus the first 1 or 2 that we lost credit for, for a run of 5-6 fractals and now twice as long as a regular dungeon.
Better yet, your college roommate, who knows of your OCD, has labelled every door in the building “NO EXIT”. The fire department has to come and rescue you from the building. It makes the local news. You survive, with mild dehydration, only to die the following week when the WALK switched to DONT WALK mid-crossing.
The SAB is shaped and labeled as a 5 man dungeon.
Everybody that’s been inside knows that it’s explicitly not shaped like a 5 man dungeon. You’ve never been inside (alledgedly) and you claim to know how it’s been shaped. That’s delusional.
Troll thread after all.
