The Full population system most likely works based on the #1 ranked server, not just an arbitrary number.

With HoT and Haloween, a lot of people are in PvE, including a lot of WvW players who want their masteries and specializations quickly.
As such WvW activity across all servers have fallen.

This activity based population system has taken note of it, and hence the level at which a server is classed has Full has fallen.
And it is most likely due to this that so many servers are now Full.

Yeah I notice this last week as well.

On Mendons a ranger was shooting me on the wall, so I jumped onto the supply shed, and yet arrows kept flying straight through the wall hitting me.

As usual, based on previous fixes, I expect this to be fixed within the next year.

Solution: You and your friends move to a non-Full server.

Well I think the next 6 months will be implementing the China release, so 6 months minimum.

“it didn’t end up fitting into the scope of the expansion” means you didnt have time!
This excuse is totally unacceptable especially after the criticisms with the HoT release not giving much to veteran players! And now complaints that the story is too short.

WvW = Pay to play decent WvW

It would allow players to see how much they’ve contributed themselves, and guild leaders to see who the more loyal members are.

It’s amusing. The other month people were up in arms because Mike O’Brien insinuated that very few people played the WvW game mode exclusively. Now when you ask where all the WvW players are, you’ll be told “they’re in PvE.” Guess he was right afterall.

WvW player are being forced into PvE to get masteries faster, the WvW way is way too slow!

There are 2 things which keep WvW alive.

1) The players
2) The devs

For 3 years the devs have neglected WvW!

After 3 years we get one new map, but this map has been released at the same time as new content, and halloween.
Add the fact that some of those who have played on the new maps, dont like it, well things are looking even worse for WvW.

We players can only keep things going for so long, it’s only a matter of time before a new game comes out which will drive the remaining players away from GW2.

Why are the new BLs empty?

First of all remember HoT was released. Lot’s of people exploring that now.
Second, Guild Halls, people wanting to claim the one they want
Third, Halloween Event, people farming that.

So when you have so many players running about there, WvW is severely going to be affected as people do those.

It’s just really really bad timing to release a new WvW map!

Not spent much time on it myself but I’ve heard mixed reviews.

No one is forcing you into a server, like many other online games, some servers are designated as being full, and so no new players can join that server.

It’s called balancing out populations between servers so no one server becomes the server to win them all!
Which is what exactly has happened in GW2 in regards to WvW population distribution.
Most people bandwagoned to the top 3 servers, leaving the lower servers unable to compete on equal footing.

Yes it’s taken Anet 3 whole years to get their foot out of their kitten , but this mechanism of cutting of a server at a given population should have been in effect since day 1!

If you want to play with your friends in T1, well tough, you should have joined them earlier. If you really are such awesome gaming buddies, why were you on a different server?! If you only just bought the game, tough, you should have bought it sooner.

Join a different server, make new gaming buddies. You did it once, you can do it again. hell why not join a server where you can fight against your friends, add some friendly rivalry into it.

When it comes to unexplainable things in GW2 there is generally one answer:

Cos Anet.

Consumer rights.

The buyer may have an illegitimate HoT copy, but they did buy a legit core game.
I didnt say anything about a free key, I did say if the above does happen the player should be given the chance to purchase a legit key, not just have their account teminated.

And what if Walmart had a 50% off all video games day and sold HoT for $25? Then Anet doesnt like that and invalidates all the keys.

I remember then COD MW2 came out it was £55 and people were complaining about the price but buying on release day. Second day of release and a couple supermarkets were selling at £26.
A consumer buys, they dont research a company, especially an online company. If you had to do research on every company you buy from then that’s just insane!

Anet shouldnt just outright ban an account but allow the player to purchase another legit copy of HoT.

And I will cheap out cos HoT isnt worth the £35 they are asking for because it’s not a full expansion, £20 is more like it!

Even if someone does buy from a site like that, it is not the players fault. Anet dont have any grounds on which to take away the player’s full account, the most they can do is deactivate the invalid key.

Surely by punishing a player for trying to get a better deal but ending up buying from some dodgy dealer, then taking away the players accoutn and telling them they should have bought off them is against competition laws and antitrust laws?!

Well there’s another point: Does EOTM activity also contribute to WvW activity when deciding a server’s population?

If it does, IT SHOULDNT!
EOTM is NOT WvW!

I still think that Anet should kick everyone from ever server. Have a full reset.

They then take the average populations of silver league and then allow players back onto whichever server they want.
But when a server hit’s that average population, it become full, forcing players to choose another server.

If the servers all end up full, they increase the limit by say 1000 for each server, and when they all fill up again repeat.

Have daily matchups for a week or so to get started with what the WvW population is like, then state using the current WvW activity based population on server limits.

lol WvW is one area the devs want to stay away from.

It’s hilarious that a developer has a game where they do very little to support a gamemode, punish players for raising concerns, and then expect everyone to still be happy towards them.

So as we’ve said before, it doesnt matter is a red post is good news, or bad news; we have a huge list of other criticisms for them first!

The fact that this thread is still active, is that some of us are not satisfied by the free slot, which we only got after complaining, and will only receive if we pre-purchase.

Why an expansion is released you want to know what you get as soon as it is released. All the maps, everything. You dont want a list of a few things you will get and guesses what you will get more in the future.

When I buy an expansion, I buy the expansion; not Anet’s coming to the game Soon™, maybe, if we have the resources, which we dont, unless it’s PvE.

That’s not what they meant. People listing Living Story are not talking about season 2 and whether you get it but are talking about 3 and 4 and 5 and so on. They stated that future LS releases (season 3 etc.) would be accessible via HoT as it carries on from the end of the HoT story.

Yeas, and S1 and 2 follow on from the core game, yet you only get them for free if you log in, miss it and you have to buy on gem store.

You are not guaranteed LS S3+ just by buying HoT, just like you were not guaranteed S1/2 from buying the core game!

If you are, then S1 and 2 should not be on the gem store at all, they should be automatically added to your account!
