HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Buy Some Apples.6390
Well I’ve said I would buy it until the price is lowered to at least £25, from it’s current £35 asking price.
Good news is that some places are already selling it for £28, and a couple places have it at £25.
Again, HoT is not worth the £35 Anet is asking for.
All veteran players get is a free character slot, ONLY if they pre-purchase!
Pre-order or buy after release, you get nothing at all!
Which is fine really, I dont need an extra slot.
And when you look at the gem store, a slot costs 800 gems, which is £8.50 in real money.
So come release day when a lot of other retailers get their hands on HoT, I expect quite a few offers going on. Might even go a little lower than £25
So if I get HoT at £25, that saves me £10, and if I then buy gems for an extra slot, I have still saved £1.50
Yet again proof that veterans still do not get a good deal with the pre-purchase.
Sure you got beta-access and you can say that extra £1.50 was worth it.
But still this shows HoT is not worth the current price tag!

Do not worry, when the game was launched they said DX11 support was coming Soon™
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Do you remember each and ever siege you put down and why?
It’ll be like a commander reporting their staff ele for using fire skill 2 instead of healing rain when asked for.
“Did you use Lava Font?
“Yeah”
“Do you recall your commander asking for a Healing Rain”
“Yeah”
“Do you recall using Lava Font instead of Healing Rain”
“erm, maybe”
“YOU ARE BANNED!!!”
It’s not that simple to just demand answers for siege you think isnt useful.

I think the best way would be support classes to start charging for their services.
But then someone has to keep an eye on them making sure that player remains a support class and not change half way through to dps.
That’s one of the problems with GW2, they claim to have got rid of the trinity, but all they did is make everyone dps.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Is it related to PvE?
If your answer is no, their answer is no.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
If I recall correctly they did actually say they were going to do that. But as usual Soon™ is still a long time away.

Thanks for the new Borderland! What’s next?
3 more years!
WvW is like all the bad bits from this song, and none of the good. Just hope we dont have to suffer the 30 years of hurt!
WvW just aint coming home…..

There are those who do it right and those who do it wrong.
There just happens to be a hell of a lot more who do it wrong.

You just have to compare American voice actors to Japanese voice actor to realise that many American voice actors are terrible!
I refuse to watch anime dubs, firstly due to the obvious americanisation of the original animes’ dialogue, and second american voice actors have no feeling, or emotion when they do their lines.
With Japanese voice actors, you can tell they are putting in the effort to make the character seem real. American voice actors are just drone people reading off a script. Just no love for the work they are doing.
Do forget a strike, they need a pay cut!

Death to Queen Jennah!
Seriously she annoyed us that much :P

First of all these is RNG.
Second of all there are rumours of lucky accounts.
I think these lucky accounts are due to the fact that RNG, isnt really RNG, because how can you get a program to randomly select a number.
You cant you use an algorithm. The problem with algorithms is that there is a pattern, even if you cannot see one.
So these lucky accounts could be set within account IDs which put then in a group of accounts which are more favoured in the RNG system anet uses.
Hence why you have some players who have played since launch and not seen a single precursor, whilst a trail account might have got one within minutes.

This made me laugh. Oxymoron much? How would you know there is a lack of playable content if there’s a lack of info on it?
In all honesty, when you buy a book do you expect the summary introduction of what the book is about at the beginning to be enough or would you rather read the cliffnotes before you buy the book and read it?
Does it look like I am buying a book here?
One month left before release and we still dont have much info. We’re paying for an expansion not Living Story episode which they may release next year, which they will charge you for again if you dont log in for them!
When I do buy a book I want all the pages when I buy it, I dont want to be given chapters when the publishers wants to give us them! This isnt a comic.
If we have to pay an expansion’s price I want an expansion, I do not want a feature pack or DLC. I aint gonna pay for a book and get a comic!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Lack of playable content at launch.
Lack of info on what that content is.
Lack okittennowledgement of veterans (shouldnt have to pre-purchase, and 1 slot isnt enough)
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
It probably worked under normal and fair conditions.
And that is why it does not work with WvW.
WvW is not fair, players jumped into the top 4 servers leaving the bottoms ones pretty empty.
So it ends up like having a race where one driver have an F1 vehicle, another using one used for Nascar, a third in a Prius, a fourth in a go kart, and a fifth on a tricycle.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Yeah there is a difference between paid and free accounts.
On paid accounts you can bypass this by pressing B and selecting a border, or by going to LA and using a WvW BL portal.
But dont know if these new restrictions to free accounts also affects paid ones now as well…
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
With the new F2P system, new players cannot enter LA until level 35, cannot enter World vs World or Edge of the Mists until level 60. So what options are left if someone wants to level fast? Crafting only?
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
I am surprised by how many people support this. If PvE players do not have to pay to transfer to an active PvE server, then we should not have to pay anything to transfer either!
This is just us WvW players still being ripped off!
Come up with a good solution that dont do so Guilds jump between servers without having a cost for it? and come up with a other solution for Anet to make Money?
1) Players already have
2) Why should we do their job for them
3) They dont have the resources to check the lag for over 2 years, you think they will spend it on a new gamemode?!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Did they do anything in the end to address the golem hack (I didn’t log in to GW2 the last two days of the event) — either in a statement or a patch?
We got a red post saying they are gonna try a patch to fix the lag which we complained over 2 years ago and continuously since……

That graph shows and proves that Mike was right, even though we play WvW, we’re typically really into PvE.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
If you’ve owned the game for long enough you’ll get an extra character slot. But yea, you’ll only get HoT.
But only if you pre-purchase. You dont get kitten if you pre-order or buy at or after release!
A lot of players have stopped complaining cos they got their character slot. But some of us are still not happy because even with it, we are not getting our money’s worth!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Dont hold your breath for it.
DX11 was promised to be supported within the first year of release. Here we are 3 years later and this game is still on DX9!
We’ve always complained about it since launch, there are players with high end gaming rigs who had tonnes of issues at launch, and the problem was and still is DX9; it’s too old.
DX11 will not only make textures better, but most importantly it is more efficient, improving performance. Who doesnt want that?! The devs apparently.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
There are far more important things I would like Anet to fix than having them wasting time on this.
Like Golem Rush 2.0
Not only is building a golem free, but so are blueprints!!!!!!!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
I am surprised by how many people support this. If PvE players do not have to pay to transfer to an active PvE server, then we should not have to pay anything to transfer either!

A week “in gaming” is nothing.
Three years of neglect is everything!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
So after a week of complaining about the golem farce, we get a post about changing transfer costs!
If PvE players have no need to pay to play on active world instances, neither should WvW players!
Transfer costs should be removed completely!

I’m in to playing chess, but typically I am really into PvE.

Choice?
Some WvW players have the choice of staying on a dead server with little activity being wiped constantly, with no fun on the server at all! Or pay up and move to a more active server.
Some choice.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
What communication? There is effectively none. What anet probably fail to realise is that the lack of communication and transparency in large part drives the dissatisfaction.
What are you on about?! They have repeatedly said one of the following!
1) We cannot talk about it
or
2) Soon™
What do you mean no communication?!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2

Oh look at all those toys in the gem store! I want one!
Buy a toy.
Go to WvW and try to use new toy.
Oh wait I cant, it’s been blocked from being used from WvW due to it being exploitable.
As such all toys will be banned from WvW
Ah well there’s my reason not to spend money on the gem store!
2)
Server transfers
The only people who actually have a need for server transfers are WvW players.
PvE players dont need to transfer to a different server any more, or even have to guest to another server!
If they are in a relatively empty instance, as soon as an active instance has an open spot, PvE players are rewarded for moving to that instance! How awesome is that, and it didnt even cost a single gem!
WvW players on the other hand, if their server loses players to another server and it’s activity decreases to the point WvW isnt fun any more, they have to pay over 1000 gems to move server. But since server transfer are based on total population, not WvW rank, WvW players are being ripped off to play on a decent server!
So here WvW players are paying more to play the game mode they want to play!
Imagine if PvE players had to pay gems to play PvE! There would be an outcry! People would be saying thei game is supposed to be sub-free, but this is a backdoor way into forcing some to pay a type of subscription!
So it’s not that WvW players dont spend on the gem store, it’s that Anet doesnt makes items for WvW players, bans them from using others in WvW, and basically does not even think about WvW players when producing new items!
It’s like a pet store saying cats dont exist because they arent buying bird seeds.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
“The expansion holds nothing for WvW,
That’s not true, it has one new, replacement BL map, which will contain even more PvE than ever before!
Even though we have repeated asked for less invasion from the LS, they have added permanent PvE events to WvW…
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Even if this was a bannable offense, do you seriously think Anet will ban players just before an “expansion” release?
This has happened so many times before. Someone finds an exploit in WvW, they post on the forums hoping the devs will fix it, instead more players find out about it and use the exploit; and the devs continue to neglect WvW by not doing a thing!
Sorry but the devs are to blame for allowing the exploit to continue rather than fix it asap like they do for PvE.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
And with this fix will we see the map cap rise raised back to the original limit?!

It all ready depends on how much you win if you want to create a random zerg.
Even really good commanders can lose their zerg if the enemy zerg is better. Player get bored of wipes and leave.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Unless you have conclusive evidence an Anet employee did all that in which the story claims, your links literally means nothing to the stories theatrically claims,
I know right, they make it sound like there was just the one hacker in the game :P
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Lol, close this thread. There was no evidence what so ever that an Anet employee had anything to do with what they are claiming that character did.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
Our guild has tried to stay away from using it, but as more and more guilds and groups are using it we may have to start using it as well.
It does do a lot of damage esp when you get immobised, but if you can last through it the enemy group falls. It just staying alive long enough for it to time out.
But yeah, anet shout about balance everywhere, but there is not balance in WvW at all.
Even at launch when groups starting zerging, small guild groups fought them, but the zergs grew until there were no more small groups; so guilds had to zerg as well.
But that is the issue here, there is no solution thanks to anet, you can only become part of the problem; and if everyone is the problem, then anet seems to considered that balanced……
tl;dr Stop complaining and use it as well.

If you’re primarily a WvW player and you buy the expansion, you’re telling them they don’t need to make content/fix hackers & trolls/fix bugs for WvW and you’ll still give them your money. At the very least, wait to buy it when it’s on sale.
Keep your false assumptions to yourself please. You do not have the slightest clue what they will add to WvW, you have no clue what they will fix, change, redesign, or revamp. As well, stop assuming your personal desires, wants, and needs, reflect that of myself or anyone else.
His assumptions are more accurate than anything you suggest.
When you base the future of WvW on what the devs have released in the last 3 years, well you can see it wont be much, it’ll be the minimum anet feels they need to do for WvW, whilst they continue to make new Living Story and start work on another expansion.
So far all we have is one new WvW borderlands maps, and undisclosed changes to the mechanics to the current map where more will be focused on defense. I know I for one do not want to wait another 3 years for a new WvW map.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
lol, allow players to vote peopel off the island? No thankyou!
Can you not see the abuse this can cause?!
“Oh let’s vote this player from a guild we dont like and get more of out own guild into this map.”
And dont say it doesnt happen, I’ve seen hostilities between guilds where the entire guild reported another guild’s player for selling gold etc and that player having their account banned, then them having to go through the process of getting it unbanned!
You can blame anet for not checking the reports, but stuff like this happens, and if you see a voting system then it too will be abused to hell!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
NA would destroy EU servers through purely coverage. EU would dominate EU prime but then NA would take control of the night and build offense wp’s. As NA log off the early log ones from SEA etc would counter any morning force EU could field and then as Sea moves into prime they are still holding upgraded and sieged objectives.
Now I’m on NA I didn’t realise just how big the sea presence is, for EUrs think vizunah style 3 guild blobs tearing around at about 1300-1700 GMT+1 hehe.
So EU would dominate for around 6-7 hours, NA servers would dominate the rest. And from what I’ve seen in NA the EU melee blobs would rip NA blobs to shreds hehe
That’s the point, coverage is what places a server on top in the rankings, not skill.
It’s one thing for a server to log in at 5pm, recapture all their towers, then spend time upgrading them to T3 towers.
It’s another thing to log in at 5pm and taking over from the morning shift with all towers being T3 already.
The latter has a much greater advantage.

Come on people, it’s a TEST! If the test is disastrous it won’t stick. Calm down.
When it was announced we asked how they came up with the idea, still no reply.
When they said they were going to test it for a month, it showed they didnt listen to us at all! They are just doing what they think is what we want.
So fine, they want to test it, test it; but it’s a test, a simple lame testing period.
Yet their blog seems to make it out to be an epic event, which has been “years in the making”, a ground-breaking change to the game like never seen before!
No it isnt, it’s still a test we didnt ask for! Stop making it out to be a big thing when it’s the smallest of things that they can do!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
I think that this effect puts more value on scouts and leads to players starting to reward scouts more and organize scouting better.
That’s the problem, there are no rewards, at all, in the game for scouting or patrolling!
Are the larger guilds willing to pay scouts with their own gold?
If so how much? It becomes complex and problematic, leading to many arguements etc.
What happens if a person is being paid x amount of gold per hour, and then at a critical moment they lose their internet connection for a few minutes. And during those minutes a zerg attacks and takes the tower.
It’s not that player’s fault, so do guilds still pay him or not? If not then does he make a complaint to anet? do Anet then tell that person that they cannot moderate such agreements in the game, and teh guy wasted his time and doesnt get his “reward”?
Removing white swords will produce this result.
As for PPK, zergs are already unwilling to fight another enemy zerg after a single wipe. So with points on the line during this testing period, you can bet to see zergs run away from smaller, better skilled groups, repeatedly.
Then we come back to the uplevels. It’s bad enough already players blaming them for wipes by helping to rally enemy players thanks to them being so squishy. Imagine the hate when each kill equals one point. Players will be demanding WvW be for 80 only characters, or be forced to move to different maps, or play at other times, or use any method to try to stop that one uplevel from following them.
You can see the arguements already:
" Go away!"
“But I die really easily, I need to run in a group”
“That’s why we want you to go away, you will cost us points!”
“But I wanna run with you”
“We dont want you with us”
“But I need to level up quickly”
“Go to EOTM then, that’s what it’s for!”
“But I wanna play here, with you”
“We dont want a rallybot!”
I totaly welcome this online test thing. Wvw needs extra loot, ppk and some changes every 2-3 weeks
WvW needs content updates, not band-aids.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
I think the fact that people are happy there is change, even if it is a small change just shows how lacking the attention WvW has received.
What vexes me is that they are making these simplest of changes that took them minutes to implement, and claiming it to be an all-out event which they have spent weeks organising.
It is this “they’ll be happy with these small changes” attitude, and the fact that some of you fall for it which makes things worse. The devs will continue to assume they can do the minimal account of work required for WvW if we are happy to see such simple changes.
I myself, and others so see the greater potential of WvW; the fact that Anet refuses to push it to these potentials is just a great shame.
You wouldnt see them going to PvE claim to be removing all the orange ovals which point out where all the nearby dynamic events are and then call it PvE Dynamic Sneak Events.
“Experience the thrill of not knowing what the kitten is going on in PvE as well.”
