They wont even fix elite dieing and going on full CD if wet. Or them ‘up scaling’ events as tho they were other players. We suggested minion skins on gem shop since beta. So don’t expect them to give you minions get grow as you level ;-P

The dev’s said they an’t exploits.
Tho there main reason for removing DS being able to be used as a block, was because it allowed you to fall without dieing, they said it’s ok with Spectral.

The one’s dev’s haven’t commented on are, using your elite minion when he glitch’s on the spot to stack all of his charge into a mass dps burst on a single target/WvW door.

Or waiting for you life force to run out as you press #4, to get transfusion heal to yourself.

We shouldnt be asking for a change in auto attacks. Thats unrealistic. We should just be asking for the next weapon we get to be a cleave auto attack.

When they reduced other siphons and added healing power scaling. The scaling was added at 0.004 per healing power, giving a 27%-32% on adv nerf on a ability that healed us for less than 0.01% our max life before.

No evade on weap, no vigor or endurance regen of any kind, no block/invul/reflect.

Terrible healing power co-efficient on non-burst heals, no heals in DS, DS eating our life.
No reliable combo finisher to use others combos to heal/cleanse.
Total nerf to all our ‘condi manipluation’ excluding our eat condi’s to heal.

Defense only built by constantly attacking, so double countered by CC, with only short burst of stability with no stun brake thrown in. (Single Knockback totally counters that)

Bunker hasn’t been viable ever vs war/guard/eng/range bunkers. Even when we could use DS as a block.

Because you build your defense by attacking, being CC’ed is double bad to us, as we not only get CC’ed by cannot build defense.
No escape, and only class in game to not have dodge on a weap/vigor or any equiv endurance regen/block/invul/ or reflect.

If they added a useable anti-CC, others would have to learn, it’s more than the odd necro you have to put a ‘knockback’ on when they DS to totally counter all there mitigation.

Healing
Necros receive no allie heals, instead heals are reflected back to caster. (So others stop getting upset by DS necro’s wasting there time)

Consume Conditions & Blood Fiend healing power co-efficent reduced to 0.004% to keep in line with siphons/make signet of vamp viable.

You kinda want to press a ‘brake stun’ as you hit DS. Spectral Armor is prob the best, as it’s going to gen you more life force as you take dam/take less dam. (Tho 1min CD)

The huge problem with it being soo short stability, is when there’s a big zerg around, the ‘syncing’ with the server can be out, and you can Spect Armor, DS+All life force, and be constantly CC’ed the entire time.
The other huge problem, is ‘knockback’ still get’s you thru stability.

I got banned on social media for saying there server/web server was offline.
I’ve had threads removed for trying to explane why friends I bought this game don’t/won’t play it.
I’ve heard NCSoft is suing people on UTube for GW2 vids. (Not confirmed and there’s been lots of UTube crazy copywrite stuff of late)

Because we need to attack to build defense. CC is a double pain to us.

Foot in the Grave says ‘Knockback’ they really need to fix the tooltip.

30 traits + 1min CD with brake stun, shouldn’t give the impression it can just be countered with a simple knockback. Really need to fix this tooltip in case it gives necros some hope.

You all know how to solve this problem.

The necro destroying things didn’t happen till ANet did the big numbers about how many played war, etc. (No block form DS and no replacement with endurance regen/block/invul/reflect – total nerf to our condi manipulation the only role we had – etc)

So not playing isn’t the soultion. (Tho I haven’t even bothered do dailys for months as I only load GW2 now to see friends, not get frustrated with a PvP balanced PvE only content game)

As for stuff like:

“omg necro iz so bad, we need BOONS, also, our auto attacks should be blast finishers, and minions should be zombies that convert anything they kill into OTHER ZOMBIES”

Necro’s access to combo finishers are kitten. We’d put up with vigor even tho it’s a boon to get some endurance regen. GW1 necros were known for a fun swam & GW2 minions are worse I played in a game in many many many years. As for the ‘minions aren’t risen dead’ lore argument, why the truck dose bone fiend look exactly like a risen mob?!!

As for the ‘there vision’… That’s what I was sold on. And now what exactly IS there vision?

Attrition – worse in game. (No block/endurange regen/vigor/reflect/invul – only class that can’t sustain a avoid 1shot after 22seconds)

Master Condi Manipulator – Boon to Condi nerfed to let players keep stability or choice of buff in stack. Putrid Mark got super ninja nerf to not remove condi from others and only 3 from us.

LifeForce Master – cannot be spent to give heals/life to others or any control at all. Cannot be gained while in DS.

Minion Master – Cannot tell minions to get out of fire or any master control. They stacked life so they OP vs trash, still die to anything real. Hell they STILL get full 1min CD on elite if wet…

Wells – Ok we have sexy circles.

Anyway, I got no idea what there vision has been for over a year. Cept a ‘burst damage over time that suits a rare situation’

No Vigor/Endurance Regen/Block/Invul/Reflect. Meaning your the only class in the game that can’t ‘sustain attrition’ in the ’avoid this or 1shot death fights.

Condi is bad because of no object damage, and caps.

Power is bad because of 1 target melee range.

MM is bad because of no control over minions, they don’t ‘scale’ & you can’t shorten the CD on summoning them again. Also 1 target again.

Support is bad because of ‘burst’ support only. You can’t use support buttons or even res someone if your in DS.
We ‘were’ kings of condi manipulation. But a ninja, silent stealth nerf, they removed cleaning condi’s off of allies.

Perhaps the issues stem from a lack of communication.

Yeh, exactly my point. They can take the time to go through the forums deleting anything that mentions another game, (even if not saying game(s) name) or anything that could be seen as negative about this one.

But don’t reply for months on the bug forums, if ever at all.

Putrid Mark for example. That was the main ‘condi manipulation’ tool, that made a necro have that role in the game. Changing the way it worked, without adding it to the patch notes. Not replying for months. Then saying, oh we’ll update the tool tip sometime.

Necro’s role is condi manipulation to Necro has NO role, is a pretty major thing. They bothered explane there reasons for reducing 1 bleed stack from a mark last patch, not totally re-doing how it worked…

When the servers crashed as the game went live. Game/Webserver were offline.
On facebook there was photo’s of them drinking beer, eating cake & having arm wrestles. Saying this was the best & smoothest release of a online game ever.
I posted saying, that the game & web server is offline.

I didn’t even troll, which was kinda tempting… ;-)

I’ve bought copy’s of GW2 for friends. Only 1 actually played long enough to get 80, then quit.
I spent about 6 hr’s writing up, why they wouldn’t play GW2, yet put in many, many hours in other MMO’s.
Not trolling, simply trying to explane what I loved about GW2, but what they didn’t. What they were shocked/appalled about this game.
That thread got removed within 2 hours.

I’ve had posts removed for saying ‘other MMOs get around this problem this way’.

I also, still can’t get over 1/3rd downed life. What was it, 4months for a ‘we can’t replicate it reply’, 6months for a ‘this won’t affect new necros’. (Even tho it did, they could just roll a new necro and test it’s downed life).
Then, how many months later did it get a fix…

Latest was Putrid Mark, 3 months before that got a reply of, oh we’ll fix the tooltip sometime. (Still don’t know, was it a intended ninja stealth HUGE nerf to necros, or a bug they just CBF fixing?)

I’ve thought since the day it went live, they need to make there chat fascists get on the job of reply to listed bugs, even if they just wrote ‘noted, thanks’…

They could remove the new CD on DS exit. Only have it on entry.

How would this simple change give a huge boost to necro support?

- While still being forced to exit DS to go res a allie, it wouldn’t lock you out of your only defense for a full CD.

- Deathly Invigoration would actually become viable.

It would also make DS necro lots more fun & skillful to play. As you would drop DS to suck up the life force on death. Unlike now, where it’s the skill is waiting around for your LifeForce to run out, so you can gen more & get back in faster. (Yay for forced idle/afk skilled play)


Removing a condi on entry to DS, doesn’t fix we can’t remove condi’s in DS. They just stack up and destroy us in the time when we are waiting for our util buttons to appear again.

Siphoning got a huge rework balance patch before last. They lowered heals from it, increased damage with power. Gave it a 0.004% co efficient (totally pointless). Siphon & heals have no synergy with DS. Siphons are weaker than others passive aoe heals. (Excluding minions, which got nerfed balance patch, but still requires your entire spec to do)

Foot in the Grave: Used to give perm stability in DS, that got nerf’ed. I think a ‘brakes stun’ added in, would make it’s 3sec burst of stability, useful. (also fixing stablity to work with knockbacks, as warriors just kick you and LoL at your 30 trait waste)

Signet Mastery/Siphoned Power: Already gives 3 stacks of might on signet use. Also get might stack on life, not sure what you mean as they already there…
What I’d love to see with might stacking, is “Reaper’s Might” should be per mob hit with Life Blast. War’s get to might stack per mob hit, not per cast.
I think this would add a ‘powering up’ feel to DS.

There’s 9 skills on weapons that require no traits. One’s that allow for 100% up time of weakness at 1,200 range with auto-attack.

What’s the numbers on every high tier necro? Didn’t I hear the dev’s say it’s less than 2% of players that play GW2 for mostly sPvP?

Well I’m glad they focus on such a huge issue to soo many of there players.
It was worth getting a nerf on something that’s weaker than others auto-attacks, so the top tier pvp’ers are happy. Glad they didn’t waste there time on something like making a pvp round that wasn’t stand in the circle, or make a score board that says you didn’t do terribly bad for standing in the circle the longest…

I’d love to see SOMETHING!
Something that kept up with ‘vigor’ that wasn’t the vigor buff.

I’d really love to see more Life Force manipulation. (Things like this, or heals in DS, or give buffs to allies after draining life from others.)

I think the most fun ideas I’ve heard, is… Leeching/siphoning endurance from others. Tho as it’s a pvp balanced game, I can see it not being enough to effect another player more than 1 dodge per 5mins, and only give us a extra dodge per 3mins. :-/

There was a interesting warrior in WvW the other day. Was using weap sigil I guess to apply torment to me, and was just bouncing in to CC, re-apply. Then running off kiting.

Anyway, on a mobile class vs a non-mobile class. It was working rather well at only a few stacks.

I feel tho, that torment on necro, is only used as ‘another condition’ for overloading cleanse. Not as lockdown.
It’d be nice to get more access to torment, so it actually worked as a lock down. As it stands now, having to DS to use it, then immob on the end of a slow cast, means that anyone running, still runs out of range of imob lockdown, (with the lack of extra bleeds we don’t apply by using DS nullifying it) anyone who stays, is imob so only getting half power bleeds for most the torment.

I still don’t really get ‘how’ this was sooo OP.
Other class’s can maintain 100% weakness up time, from weapons. Thief even on auto-attack.

That it was close to meele ‘hug’ range. In a tree that’s condi/ranged. Was a little weird. (As Power is meele ranged weaps)

That we had to invest traits, were forced to pickup bleed on crit, (which in power builds, usually just hinders the groups by removing 1 stack of bleed on crit, for like ~100 dam).

Anyways what the dev’s said:

“This trait as it currently stands on live is a borderline grandmaster trait. It is near 100% AoE weakness uptime for a small investment. The new version is still probably worthy of master tier with almost 50% AoE weakness uptime. This line has a lot of powerful traits, but suffers from having only 1 choice at grandmaster tier.”

On the trait line:

“I feel like Spectral Attunement and Master of Corruption could be adept tier, but they would be really strong there and we would have to move 2 traits up to accommodate them. If we did that the first candidates are Chilling Darkness and Weakening Shroud (closer the old version). This is totally worth a discussion, but at the end of the day all master tier traits in this line are overshadowed by Terror which is the real problem.”

On Terror:

“I can’t tell you how long we debated moving this trait to grandmaster tier last time around, and this time again. The problem is a huge % of Necromancer builds are hinged on this trait. There is a gaping hole at grandmaster here with Withering Precision (barely worthy of adept tier in our opinion), however we were really hesitant to either move terror and didn’t have a good alternative for redesigning Withering Precision”

On Death Magic line, but sota a closer to the talk & I think encompasses what they are saying overall:

“This line receives a lot of discussion as well, but any proposal we talk about always ends up with more work than we have time to build, much less test. "

Tis why I started the thread, all the horrible things they done since the ‘balance patch’s’ adding something that was no good, that we didn’t need anyway. Huge outrage.

It seems, to be the ‘straw that broke the camels back’.

That, nerf’s to current stuff, at least they trying. That tho we may not agree, there had to be some reason behind it. The major huge ‘role of your class’, was taken from us, and wasn’t even added into patch notes.
So yeh, it’s easier to voice stuff, when your 100% sure it’s crap from the start.

Exactly. I recently came to the Necro from Ranger, and I just can’t understand what the problem is. In large scale WvW, at least, the Necro is light years ahead of the Ranger. I mean, fun and actually useful at the same time.

So it’s just a matter of perspective. It would probably be different coming to Necro from say a Warrior or Guardian. Or, to long time Necros experiencing nerfs.

Yeh, face value necro’s are awesome. Vs 1v1 or Trash mobs, we can seem over powered. We get some good ‘aoe tagging’ for WvW Zergs & such getting lots of loots.

But there’s soo many little things. As a ranger, you ever tried ‘rooting’ a necro in WvW. As our spells are ‘projectiles’ we can’t shoot our feet/roots.
How awesome is a ranger under water? Our elite pet die’s and get’s 1min CD for getting wet…
Dare I say, I’d much rather a blind & your insane pet res on downed state. (I think pet getting auto-re summoned if dead, is just…)

Anyway, I do also think that the Ranger has some of the major flaws of a necro. Condi & Pet focused. Which don’t work very nicely in this game, particularly PvE.

On spectral. I get that it’s awesome 1v1. But it’s really removed it’s vs group use.

I also don’t understand why they just kept throwing life at our minions to fix there attrition. It still doesn’t help on the 1shot mechanics. There now just OP vs trash mobs, and still die stupidly when the fight’s get hard.
This would have been a awesome spot to add a ICD max % life taken per second.

I also don’t understand there removing DS block, and not giving us anything to compensate. Again a % max life force per sec ICD, or hell even vigor.
What’s worse is, they dev’s have said that using Spectral Walk, to ‘jump’ any distance, without dieing is fine, yet wasn’t the main reason for removing DS ‘block’, was to stop us jumping places we weren’t suppose to go?

My biggest ‘mad bro’ of late, was putrid mark. Hidden nerf, or a bug, took months for a dev reply to say ‘will update tooltip in future to show how it works now’. Agggh! There go’s our ‘condi manipulation’ role.

Anyways, still werided out at how the new heal went down. Just didn’t see a new button we didn’t need to buy, was as bad as all they done to weaken us of late. (LoL Did I kitten about Weakening shroud, insulting/frustrating more than a new heal I don’t need)

As people pointed out, in WvW your going to do really good in a ‘zerg’ with ‘tagging lots of aoe loot’

In PvE, or fractals. No matter how good you get/are, someone will do a better job than you with lots less effort. There will be things, that just hinder the group.

In sPvP, we have a ‘role’ or ‘job’. But ya’ll need a understanding team that will protect/peel people off you.

So it’s not a L2Play issue, it’s simply that necro’s got it worst in PvE. (Also vs CC & Groups in PvP)

If you dislike where we are now, play something else. Its f2p, you can just leave the game for 4 years and come back later, nothing really lost.

I agree, as this is very much “voting with your wallet”.

I’ve bought multi-copys of the game for friends, only one even bothered play long enough to reach 80.
I can happily spend $80 a month on cash shop.
I’ve played since beta. I’ve tried to main a necro all the way.
How’s it been for me and my wallet voting? Less fun, worse & worse. So that doesn’t really work out.

As for the it’s free to play argument… Who care’s? It’s the ‘investment’ of ‘time, love & enjoyment’. As soon as ‘the next actual fun thing’ comes along, it won’t matter if it’s free to play vs $60 a month subby. I’m investing in the ‘fun’.

It’s purely the ‘fun’ that matters.

This is why ‘res/stomp in DS’ has been bung up as ‘such’ a big issue. Will it be game changing, NO. Will it stop us feeling, selfish & frustrated by game mechanics over & over in a day, YES.

We just don’t want our life to be full of painful frustrations, because we try to enjoy playing a necro.

Use DS, pre-equip staff as offhand weaps don’t count in DS. Hope your friends don’t waste heals on you as it shows your life ticking away. Oh look, let your buddy slowly die, if you ditch DS ya’ll have no defense left. Oh crap, DS has no synergy with anything, your minions dead/you have conditions to cleanse/the group could have really done with that well/etc. Ok, low on life force anyway, better drop out and spam all the buttons I didn’t in the last little bit.
Oh a new CD on getting back to DS. Oh no, there’s a 2nd person in party using conditions, that means were stealing each others damage.
Or the power story of, well I’ll just run up into melee range with no safe button for another 10 seconds, and hit 1 mob at a time, while the others cleave them down around me.

It’s weird, it was playing soo nicely with others, sharing kills/nodes/buffs/heals. Non-frustrating questing/leveling.
That got me to fall in love with this game. It’s these same things in reverse that are making it un-fun for me.

Moral of the rant.
What matters most, is having fun. Fix a pile of little silly frustrations, make us play well with others.
I’d say 90% of necro’s don’t care about the ‘balance’ of the top 0.2% of our sPvP’ers for 99% of there GW2 life.
Having fun with buddy’s is what’s going to hold our love for this game.

Fair enough. I guess I’d given up playing before this patch was even talked about, putrid mark was the final, we have NOTHING left for me. Then the dev’s saying quite a few things like:

“Any proposal we talk about always ends up with more work than we have time to build, much less test. "

Made me go, well at least they know, and an’t trying to bullcat us. Sota got me playing a little when friends are on. Tho, yeh on my Guard.

As for WildStar. I was initially ‘meh’. The more I see tho, the more ‘fun’ it actually looks.
Combat system that is focused on movement/skill placement, instead of AutoAttack.
Dungeons & PvE focused stuff that’s not a total mess.
I guess the real exciting one for me is a house that’s has useful things in it. (You can even just tele to it out of combat, instead of having to tele across the map then enter it)
Oh and being able to swap role/template’s.
Oh and it’ll also be nice to in a futuristic MMO.

Sorry going on. But there’s just been a heap of little things that made me go, oh actually that sounds fun.

Anyways, let’s hope with the pure volume of not so happy necro’s. They actually take action, fixing up our attrition again. I did really enjoy my necro for a while.

Nar I was there QQ’ing my little heart out about total loss of attrition. Just find it weird, that there’s been over 1,000 posts in a single day about the new heals skill.

Oh and my personal fav, was the ‘how to play guides’. Warrior with 2 dev’s giggling away, showing off multi-warrior spec’s that own other class’s.
Then the very short necro one, with a necro with no traits sitting in LA, mousing over Runes, then saying that healing power is one of the best things for a necro.

Ele’s running away shouldn’t be any more of an issue than it was, since people only tend to run on low health which means the trait wouldn’t help them anyway. All you have to do is have a way of dealing 10% damage to an ele, then you can use your snares/conditions as normal.

My point is that there is a way to deal with people using this trait. If people insist on using the condi only build, then that’s their choice. Having a counter to the tactic and not using it is just a little silly imo.

Not to mention, the patch has been out less than a day. The meta needs time to adjust. Give it time.

Your totally missing the point.
As a non-condi, power build. Our weapon range is very short. We need Chill/Cripple/Imob to be able to ‘catch’/do any damage. Even a Dagger ele, (It’s shortest range) can kite us all day without taking a single hit. As we can no longer use any of our slow down effects on them.

Not many upset posts with:

Removing DS being able to used as block. Leaving necro as the only class that doesn’t have Vigor/Endurance Regen/Block/Invul/Reflect. (Totally locking us out of many dungeon boss fights, and some world boss fights.)

Adding a 1sec ICD to max% life force Spectrals can do. Giving us no tools to defend against groups vs us.

Multi-nerfs to fear/bleeds/etc to accommodate dumbfire. Reducing the burning to 2 seconds in sPvP, unlike say 6sec on a auto-attack of other class.

Stopped our ranged res being fastest cast, meaning our only role or thing we did better than others was condi manipulation.

Ninja-Silent Stealth Nerf on Putrid Mark. No longer removes all condi’s, only 3. No longer removes condi’s from allies. Took months to even get a reply, as intended, tooltip will be updated 4-6months after the nerf… Mixed with the cap on our convert boons to condi’s, ment we no longer had a role as condi manipulation.

Then they add a new heal skill, that’s useless. But our other heals skills are actually quite nice, so it’s not game braking in the slightest, just ‘meh’. The forums light up.

They had some big work done. Such as they won’t pull floors of dungeons down if you ‘jump/skip’ bits.

They still ‘wig out’ and will watch you fight quite often.
They still don’t follow your focus/attacks. Tho this sometimes works as a advantage. Say you attack a target, have another 2 come up, flip to staff and shoot thru a line of them. Different minions will attack a different mob each. It doesn’t make sense, but kinda works.

They have had there life beefed up. They are totally OP vs world trash mobs.
But, they still useless vs any real fight, like a world boss.
Other games have a max % life taken per hit. But minions will still get 1shot in this game.

Huge problem with them now is ‘scaling’. Each minion is classed as another player. Making events/living story/etc much harder.

Also, Elite still die’s in water getting 1min CD. (And still only a undewater condition elite skill, and minions still has synergies with power, even more so now as there heal on hit dose more damage based on power.)

We weren’t suppose to be able to escape. But we were suppose to be able to ‘face tank’, this is where we got worse and worse off.

Siphons fix, actually reduced there overall heals. Cept the 15point’er. But increased the damage minions do/scale with power. It was terrible before, not even up to par with other class’s aoe passive heals. Let alone no synergy with DS.

Then, there’s we NEED to attack, to gain defense. (LifeForce, apply chill/etc). So getting CC’ed works as a double shut down to us. Really think it’s about time they added a trait that gave us spectral armor like, %life force gen per dam taken, but triggered whenever we are CC’ed.

Then, they nerfed spectral skills, to have a max life force per second. This stops it being any use vs a group.

Then the old, DS isn’t a double life bar, it’s a hindrance that usually gets us killed. Why? No utility, no cleanse, no brake stun. We get no heals while in DS, then it gives a CD before we can press our heal button when we exit.

Anyway, if they fixed out attrition, so we weren’t the no escape, no defense. CC & kill it fast target…
The next big one, we were suppose to be able to ‘lock down’ others from simply walking away from us. Last attempt was DS5.
This failed totally, few stacks torment isn’t anything to worry about. And only hug range immobile doesn’t really help much. It simply helped with the ‘more condi than can be cleansed’.

As long as we have a cheap way to kill other players that has no counter. Why would we want to have any other aspect of the game or our class keep up with others?

Well, we also not in the best state. Attrition class with worst attrition in game. Still no promice of endurance regen/vigor/block/invul/reflect. Still nothing to counter CC stopping us building defense as well as CCing us. Spectral nerfed to % per sec, and nothing else to counter groups.
Elite minion dieing & getting 1min CD for getting wet, shouldn’t have made it out of beta. Still no power or minion underwater elite.
There latest buff to siphons as the heals were too weak, was to nerf them overall, and give 0.004% healing power co-efficient. (Can I point out that guard heal on dodge, that is small heal, has a 1% co-efficient with healing power.)
Big attrition buff before that was to give us burst damage over time?!! Then nerf stuff from other builds.

Then, putrid mark. Our main skill that gave us a ‘role’ in a group, particularly with all the condi heavy living story that’s come out. Ninja nerf to not remove from allies and reduced to 3 condi’s off us. Then months to even get a reply of ‘tooltip update’ coming in future.

Most comforting thing I’ve seen from the dev’s of late, was them actually telling the truth on some of the up-coming patch.

“There is a gaping hole at grandmaster here with Withering Precision (barely worthy of adept tier in our opinion), however we were really hesitant to either move terror and didn’t have a good alternative for redesigning Withering Precision”

“but any proposal we talk about always ends up with more work than we have time to build, much less test. "

If we didn’t joke & laugh from time to time, we’d go mad, cry & quit.

Yeh, the cast time used to be best in game too. Now, it’s a pointless skill 99% of the time. Our master of death, has become nerfed to master of die’ing.

4am, Prob didn’t make my story very clear.
It’s not a GW1 necro I want. It’s just a re-envisioned version.

I’d be so very happy, if we didn’t lay down the damage. But if we added soo much damage/not get damaged to others, that we were wanted/hugely beneficial to a group.

If were suppose to have no escape, and now have our ability to face tank taken away. We should have the group want to protect us & peel off us.

I guess, what would be very cool in a GW2 way… Would to be, to have lot more life force manipulation. Where DS was more powerful like Litch/Plague. But have it either give us more DS, or allow us to spend it on helping allies. Master of life force, taking it from others giving it to those we chose. That sort of thing.

It’s to keep it 5 people get your heal/damage from hitting the target. There’s a 1sec ICD.

Marks need to be triggered by something moving into them.
Well’s just happen.

Note: Marks wont be triggered by world boss’s as they are ‘buildings’ Shrug. Also some things like mobs doing conversation, then turning DPS’able wont trigger them either.

From a lore perspective, fire is the totally wrong god. If we don’t re-animate dead things, why dose Bone Fiend look exactly like a dead mob?

What I dreamed of when I started playing, was a attrition class. A master of condi manipulation. All with a double edged sword game play. Weighing up every click’s risc vs reward.
I dreamed that the big life tank, and pulling condi’s off allies, with healing minions. Would make me balance incoming conditions vs healing, with throwing them all back to a target.
The no fighting for a mining node, or to tag a mob, sharing type game. Would allow me to have my siphons heal others. My death shroud would be a ‘shield’ for when I had to run out from the back lines to go res a fallen player.

From what I heard of GW1, I’d be controlling a swarm, debuffing targets so my allies would do more damage/take less damage. That my only burst, would be a long CD, huge dam but huge siphon heal that would change the coarse of battle on a wipe to a win.

But, fighting others for condi stacks. Minions that didn’t work & just died to all the 1shot mechanics. Minions that died when wet?! Siphons that didn’t keep up with other class’s aoe passive heals, and didn’t heal allies at all. Ohh the forced selfishness! The only double edged sword play, was I have to give up all my defense to go res someone, or leave them.

Anyway, none of this worked in game. So I moved onto the ‘death shroud’ mastery. Sure it has no synergy with anything, excluding power & death shroud, but it was fun. I even made up that my dagger & axe were kept blunt, that’s why they didn’t cleave.

But then, DS & Spectral nerfs, killed our attrition. Res signet got slowed down to not be best. That killed master of death/save the wipe role. Putrid Mark no longer helps allies, removing any role we did.

So now, my necro AoE tags in WvW zergs. Or farms trash mobs for countless hours, in a game with ‘no grinding’, painfully grinding for skins. Legendarys for alt’s as they now get played more than my necro main, and the legendarys don’t suit the necro, except the axe, which is such a bad weapon.

April 10 2014 update:
We have reinstated the necromancer class due to concern from the remaining professions about losing easy kills. We have streamlined the trait lines to make them more in line with our vision for the necromancer.

The existing trait lines: Spite, Curses, Death Magic, Blood Magic, Soul Reaping have been deleted.

There are now two necromancer trait lines:
Dhuumfire
Reanimator

Up to 70 trait points can be put into each line. Adept and Master traits have been removed.

Grandmaster Traits:
Dhuumfire Grandmaster: Dhuumfire – burn everything within a 1200 radius of you. This includes environement, structures, NPCs, characters and your CPU

Reanimator Grandmaster: Raise the Dead – Summon a jagged horror whenever you kill a foe

Note: Dhuumfire duration has been reduced to 0.4second, so with 100% condition duration it won’t actually tick any damage, but will remove burning done by any allies.

Jagged horror dam reduced to 1, and movement speed reduced to 0. Any damage or conditions done to minion will be transferred to master.
Summon & Death voice in game, will be played 10 times per minion, or footstep taken in game world.

Jan 10th 2014 Patch Notes:
- Necro will no longer receive healing from other players. This is to stop frustration of accidentally wasting healing on DeathShrouded Necro’s.
- All necro self healing will be converted to damage with a 0.004% co-efficient. This was a bug, but is now a working as intended feature.

Also love the idea/concept. But the implementation has no synergy too… well… anything.

I’d really like to see, Res in DS at least in PvE. I know ANet have said it’s a ‘balance bug’ for skilled players to exploit using DS & Res/Stomp in same upload que. But that’s pretty lame.

I don’t get why DS give a CD on Entry & Exit. Surely it was intended for entry only as it’d be ‘skilled’ play to exit DS just as your opponent died, getting the life force back. It would also make Deathly Invigoration, trait actually worthwhile.
It also feels cheap/exploit/unfun play to wait for LifeForce to tick out, to enter DS again faster.
If this is not the case, why don’t we get life force while in DS from kills?

Main Hand weap, for ‘power’ of DS is also totally cat. In DS/Power builds, why do we have to flip to staff, or have hugely less damage. It can’t be too hard to include offhand damage.

I also miss weapon swapping. Being able to use different Sigil in DS was actually deep and skillful play.

The utils/tools we miss. Stun Brake, Condi Removal, any sort of minion control, even maintain bleeds.

Healing… Not just from the ‘it sucks for the necro’ but, for others. As a support guard in a party, necro’s are a pain. As the party bar on the side, show’s there life as dieing, when they are simply losing LifeForce.
As for healing, siphons are soo weak & it’d add some synergy to allow them to work.
Other heals, why not have a max life% per sec ICD. Start with PvE & balance it. I’m sure that other class’s will be happy as well as the necro.

Life Force generation, is destroyed by CC. Making it double effective vs a necro, that has no escape.
Give us a trait that worked like spectral, giving us %max_life_force per sec, but while CC’ed.

Oh, and that stupid number. Get rid of it and go back to life force.
It doesn’t say our HP so it’s confusing & pointless.
It go’s down in 1
chunks, not the numbers on the bar, so it’s confusing & pointless.

Our elite minion die’s & get’s a full 1min CD if wet… STILL. (Oops wrong meeting)

Death Shroud...

Yeh, I hear a lot of QQ that necro’s get a double health pool…. but it’s sooooo much less.
As we lose our util, and abilitys, we can’t even maintain bleeds, control minions, etc.
It has no synergy, except being the way we apply torment, another condition to overload the cleans stack.

That we can’t heal or cleanse in it, means it’s usually a very dangerous thing to use.

In beta time, we could use it to escape. We could do fairly perm DS. Tho, fun. Was way too OP.

But once upon a time, not too long ago. We could use DS as a ‘block’. Removing that and not giving us any endurance regen/block/invul/reflect/etc. Has put us soo far behind any other class.
Oh, and once 30 points got us perm stability in DS. They could at least make it brake stun + it’s short burst of attrition.

Soz, ranting on. But I once really loved GW2’s necro’s for being different but fun & viable. It’s sad to see them water down DS to a painful gimmick.

Get rid of the number, show life force. It go’s in 1 blocks, so the number wouldn’t even make much sense even if it actually showed our actual HP.

Allow us to res/stomp others in DS, without having to exploit pressing it at the same time as res/stomp.

Removed the new CD on Exit DS. Getting back into DS faster by letting it ‘tick out’ then quick life force grab is cheap. It would also allow for skilled game play where leaving DS just as the mob/player died, to gain it’s life force would be very viable.
It would also make Deathly Invigoration viable.

Normalize main+offhand damage to DS. It’s silly we have to use the staff of have a huge power/damage loss.

Allow weapon swapping again. It was nice/skillful to change sigils in DS.

Allow heals in DS. Even if max life% per second, sort of like how spectral skills now work.

Add cleanse utility, or allow our other utility skills in DS.

The Frustrating Part...

Why are people talking trash about flesh wurm… it’s a fantastic stunbreak.

It’s nice but… The amount of time it ‘fizz’ fails if your standing on a rock, or there’s a blade of grass in the way.
The huge CD, how many time’s can a CC warrior CC you in it’s CD?
It’s pre-setup that kinda give’s away where your teleing too.
That it can simply be killed to remove escape. Ok not really a issue as it’s more effort than just CC’ing us again….
