Dirty cheap afflic locs! I made a Desto to hunt them down face to face like, none of this wimpy hide in the bush’s dot N run!
From what I could tell of my last theory crafting read up. WoW went back to ‘snapshot’ on cast, after LK. There was a new set of mods you could set the threshold of extra spell power & it would warn you went it was worth re-applying your dots. From the guides on BoomKins, the rotation was very OCD with the way you applied your dot’s and reapplied them as you got boosts. (Also even mods that worked out your upload que, to say when you could sneak in extra spells with lag/travel time, while still in a eclipse cycle)

Anyway, I personally much prefer ‘per tick evaluation’. It let’s you just play, and not ‘stress’ about ‘the perfect rotation, thru CD/buff management’.
But Id gladly give it up, for condi stack issue to be fixed.

This would be true if ANet hadn’t set a standard early on where ALL content was made available to all players to the point where they temporarily increased levels. If this wasn’t previously done, throughout the year, then your point would be valid.

But experience has shown otherwise.

This is a huge reason for the increase in complaints. People are starting to worry the game is going the casual versus the specific player-type only.

And it’s a valid concern.

No one wants an us versus them situation with updated content. Well, no one expect those that benefit . . . obviously.

I was highly concerned in dragon bash, with fighting to kill spawns.
I’m a bit worried how they seem to have changed there mind on necro’s. Removing there older info about them being attrition, patching them with ‘burst condi’ and making them less & less attrition with things like DS patch.

I’m worried that this game I love, is losing direction, is still very buggy/frustrating. I’m worried that even friends I gamed with for many many hours in other MMO’s, that I bought copy of this game, wont play it due to these issues.

I think this is a ridiculous thing to get upset about. It’s a convenience item — not at all necessary, but handy at times for people who don’t mind throwing money at the game reasonably often to make it free for everyone else. Seems like the perfect thing to put in the gem store to me. Just like repair canisters. Yes — you can go and repair lots of places, and that’s a LOT cheaper. But if you wanna use money to be lazy, you can. And you can support the game in the process.

I already spent another $40 first week of this month alone.
They said, templates for traits & gear swaps would be coming. It’s one thing I’ve loved in other MMOs.
Per use, is just insulting. Even worse, is you still need a min to add new traits, swap gear around in your limited space bags. It’s hard enough to swap weapons & a few skills over, before group runs in and puts you in combat with next boss. No way I want to fight a hard boss, with half a set of wrong gear & no traits. Particularly not if it cost me real $!

Oh and they need to fix mini-pets. I don’t buy them obsessively like other games, cause they are a total pain constantly despawning.

They also got ‘skins’ right with the achievement ones. Move the gem shop, and living story rewards over to that! Really insulting we can work on living story achievement once per account, then only 1 toon get’s 1 skin. Especially as you got a perfect system for skins in pace!

As for “ridiculous thing”. Were not saying ANet are cat-holes & were never playing again. Were saying. This is lame. We want value for our money. Were happy to keep throwing it at the screen, even more than we do now. If you treat us right!

2) Fix condi’s to work on objects & with others in PvE.
3) Add VOIP into game so we can talk to pugs. (You did say you were going to near beta, and you keep adding in content that’s totally frustrating with out it)

instead they are releasing worthless content that is difficult and offers no reward. Complete WASTE of time and effort.

It’s also not ‘difficult thru challenging fun’.
It’s ‘difficult thru frustration & stupidity’.

It’s going to take hours to learn. If leader DC or quits, your all kicked.
You won’t want overlapping condition based players. Ya’ll want 1 ‘support’. So using LFG is even more of a gamble.
Again from what I hear, there’s stupidly frustrating things like ‘slime’. Easy with players that can play well together/have ‘VOIP’ of some sort, have the right buttons-spec to do it. What happened to the promise of Mumble or some sort of VOIP being built into the game, so you can do the content with pugs?

Then, yeh rewards… Look at the rewards for say Frost Champ Farming. Brain dead, auto-attack combat. More rewards in 3 mins than this gives in 3 hours of ‘challenging content’. What was the ‘average drop time’ for Teq’s pretty weapons? Kill it every day for around 3 years?

I’m not sure if they are trying to push the synergy between DS & Power.
But weapon choice & life force, seems very erratic.

On the subject, axe really needs to give life force, even if the spell doesn’t do damage. Very visual, main burst & main way to get life force. Means it’s kinda useless in PvP as any good player is going to avoid getting hit.

Also, access to Combo Finishers on Main or Offhand weaps. Please!

How’s it inaccurate? Thief get’s every tool in the game. They the swiss army knife of class.
Why are people taking another flow troll over different class ability’s threat seriously?

I’d say, the necro just got lucky, most war’s are our nemesis class.
I actually usually carry stuff around, for the return condi’s, even in a power build. (Even tho it’s buggy at the moment)(I actually love it with power build vs condi more, as you return there conditions and do full power crity bursty doom doom ontop Mwhwhwar)

Anyway, they recently tooled the war’s up to deal with condi’s thrown back at them.
Also on top of a pure condi cleaner/hunter, there’s the CC build ppl have mentioned. Were built to have “aggressive defense” which translates into, we need to keep doing attacks to have any defense. So CC shuts us down harder than other class’s.

As for Roaming. Yeh, no escape. (Excluding a tele if we pre setup the fight with a wormy). Mobility, we have a sig with 25% movement speed, and a spect walk, that lets us get 30sec of swift with a 60sec CD… So were ok’ish mobile, if we give up our other skills. (But def not on par with other class’s)
The other thing is, we been totally destroyed on the ‘avoid burst damage’. We the only class with no dodge energy return, no blocks/invuls etc. We can be slightly scary in a DeathShroud build, if we warmed up and filled up LifeForce before we ran into you. But, once it get’s to 2+ it doesn’t scale.
Oh and lots of slow attacks, projectiles, and very visual on our big moves to make us easy to counter. (Our projectiles can’t even shoot our feet, so I know some rangers find it funny to just run around rooting necro’s as they can’t move/brake out and are easy pickings when the zerg runs off)

Yep, I know other games ‘snapshot’ spell/condition power, duration etc on cast. While it adds for more obsessive OCD combat, where your waiting for your might stacks to get up high, before doing a big condi dump. Id take it over condi’s just being useless at any group type activity in PvE.

gumoor.5674 > I don’t mean doge roll, or rotation roll. I mean server side, roll a dice. Or $Rand(GoD) as I call em.
As for the chance to add condi on crit. That’s actually even more rolls direct damage side, as it’s only direct dam that can crit, not condi’s. So again, that’s a extra roll & all the condition rolls on top if using direct dam.

Dungeon support for necros is long overdue.

The holo wings on TP are kinda blue… If it makes ya feel any better, I stuck these new dragon wings on my guard, as it suited the white/gold look.
I have a Asura necro. With the shoulders from Arah dungy.
“Quaggan Killer Whale” backpack is sooo awesome for him! When he’s standing up, they clip though so it’s just a little face with a grinning evil moth. When I run, it’s just his little feet jiggling on my back you can see.

As a necro, ya’ll learn to ‘deal with the bugs’ and even love some of them, like clipping clothing if you can get it right. ;-P

Yes, Thief gets fear. (Pretty sure there’s didn’t get nurfed cause of Dumbfire)
They can apply more stacks of torment than us. There dodge removes chill/cripple. There dodge returns dodge energy, they also have vigor, lots of there weapons have extra dodge too. They have weapons with auto-attacks that apply weakness, and not short duration weakness like our pricy traits.

There’s also the stealth thing, being able to vanish and not even target them if you hit them with damage.
Oh then the mobility, from not having a wormy give away where you could tele too, to being able to move much faster than us, even with swift and the wind behind us.

The good news is. Every time you kill a thief, it’s because your a better player than them! Probably also a better person in real life, as your chosen class isn’t so ‘cheap’. (Tho, burst condi & fear bombing is a kitteneap)

So awesome till you realize, other class’s don’t have the problems with CC that we do and will usually just wander off.

It all started going out the window with ‘dragon bash’.

Someone can do living story from first day. Destroyed by not only maps/mobs, but required gold to gamble.

No fighting over spawns. Glad that was only in dragon bash.

I won’t go on about off topic things they been doing.
But yes, seems ‘living story’ are having 80 only times. It seemed ok with Teq + SAB going at once, as there was a lowbie friendly thing to do.

Think it’s about time ANet went back and had a look at there manifesto’s from when the game started, rather than just deleting bits off there website as they can’t be bothered anymore.

What happened to ‘templates’ with traits & gear?

Rift stole heaps of your cool game ideas, and implemented them badly.
Take ‘roles’ from rift, tie in your gear sets so they don’t take up bag space!

Also there tower defense, with tweaks to make it spawn more depending on how many turrets you got built.

Don’t copy there ‘badly coded shortcuts’ and rip off the customers with the gem shop philosophy!

The point wasn’t ‘hard to do’, people are keen for challenge.
It’s ‘frustrating and unfun’.

For some reason ANet seems to think every dungeon needs a frustrating bit. Even CoF P1 has the annoying fireballs. (Which usually have a graphics bug where you can’t see the balls. Ahh the fun of randomly running and dieing over and over till you ‘guess’ the right time there not there.)

TheDevice > Very true. But I will say. The dev’s do seem very cool in some ways. They seem to have the love and the passion for what they create.
Some of this game is the best evar! I deeply love the graphics style, toons are prob my fav out of any game to date. Some of the personal story, was best I’ve seen in a game. Love the no fighting to ‘tag’ mobs or farming nodes. Lots of the maps are very well done, and the down-scaling/giving things for players to do in not just ‘the’ top map, is kinda cool.
But some things, just hurt my brain.

No player trade/3mails per min/no CoD post/5% TP listing fee + 10% selling fee. (Destroys much crafting + personal trade)

Minipets bags/despawn.

Condi stacks/objects dont take condi dam. (WHY oh WHY)

‘Hard mobs’ immune to CC, Crit. (There go’s lots of skilled play, and lots of builds/gears)

Heals/Support struggle to get credit/tag mobs.

High level layered ‘raid like’ fights, done in world. With ‘Turret Trolls’ and other huge issues.

That’s before we even get on to the huge issue’s of the necro.
ESO is going to fill the ‘RPG online in a big world’. WildStar is looking to fill the ‘active combat, heaps of fun MMO’. ANet really needs to get the fundamentals down, before it’s not the ‘coolest new MMO’ kid on the block.

What’s super crazy is the roll’s for direct damage are lots more complex.
Power + weapon damage. roll
Did it crit? roll – What’s crit damage? calc.
Weap Sig for extra 5% dam? calc
Traits/Runes for extra dam? calc (most are below x% mob life, extra check)
Vuln for extra dam? calc
What was removed by armor? Calc

Vs Condi
Condi Dam, Roll, Condi Time. Done.

There checking & pushing extra rules for where it go’s on the stack, what is removed from the stack, is crunching extra calc’s for damage that wont even last the 1sec tick in a big world event.

How can this be the ONLY game I know, who’s servers can’t handle DoT/Debuffs?

I think you read what SR/Hunger does wrong, It increases the transition of HP to LF, LF is gained as a , LF is lost as a %, but its worth is numerical, so more SR increases the base DS by 30 (so from 120~ to 155~ % of hp), but the way you gain life force and lose it kinda stays the same, it just makes sure the enemy needs a bigger hit if he wasnts to do 2% damage instead of 1% in a single hit.

When I tested it last… which was ages ago.
It didn’t give extra DS uptime, in damage or per sec tick time. It simply took longer to fill the bar by 30%… Only hindrance, no help at all.

Life Force depletion rate

LifeForce dose deplete at a static rate, as well as extra for any damage we take.
It would be nice for it to take the exact damage amount, not 1% blocks. (Atleat it’s suppose to be 100% our heath pool & not take double damage from direct dam anymore)
It kind of makes total fair sense for it to be this way, so we can’t ‘perm DS’ and suck up any amount of damage. Tho with lifeforce extending over to health pool, we really need vigor or some sort of block/invul etc, so we can avoid as much 1shot hits as other class’s.
I think, it would be really nice to let some heals go thru DS. Now that we can’t use it as a ‘shield’.
I also think, the DS CD should only be on entry, not exit as well.

Self Harm, is part of the necro way. Being able to turn it into extra heals also makes it a strength if played well.

Yeh, buttons would be awesome. They dev’s did reply to the bug they added where it’s 1sec+lag before they show up again. That’s on the to be fixed list at lest.

As for the LifeBlast, Bleeds + Combo Finisher, have been thrown around for a while. Seems the dev’s are worried it would make hybrid necro’s too powerful.

Anyway, I’m waiting for the next ‘big patch’. Which is suppose to have lots of necro nice bits. Minions/Heals trait lines, getting a big overall. There also might be condi’s that work properly in PvE (Tho, maybe not this next patch… still)
After that, I’m going to do a bit ‘list’ of QoL (Quality of Life as the Dev’s call it). So start making a list of ‘frustrations’ with the necro, and I’ll hit you up for it soon. ;-P

Colin Johanson specifically said calculating bleeds takes a lot of bandwidth. I’m not really sure they need to go in further detail.

Every other MMO I’ve played that had DOTs/Debuffs/Buffs/Conditions/Boons handle this fine. Computers be good at calculating & storing numbers.

Wouldn’t it be less server load to not deal with direct damage?
That has to worry about Vuln stacks, Trait Modifyers, Rune Modifyers, Armor Values, Crit %, Crit Dam…
Surely more calculations than Condi Power & Duration.

Maybe a solution to solve AFK people problem?

Is this a confirmed bug? I dont find having vitality that useful if I have a large upkeep of life force that is affected by how much toughness i have.

By devs, no, but they also denied the true hp value of DS, the hp value of downed necro state, the bugs that are going on with staff and were essentially forced by the top pvp necros to admit that they removed the ds weapon swapping because of kitten and giggles (what was a major nerf) instead of any actual balance reason.
From the community, yeah. Multiple times already (each DS patch/fix improves it, but its still quite buggy). Before if you had anything with secondary toughness stat, your ds would amplify the damage youd take since the armor/toughness value didnt transition in its full to it, but now Zerkers/glass cannons have almost the same defensive value in DS as tanky builds (go to taco the sauceless after fail, hit a fishhead normally, you are dead or on 2-3k hp depending on build, then hit another one in DS, it goes down to 30%~40% depending on build.

Then, on top of this… Even if it was 100% Vit & 100% Tuf, worked exactly the same in DS.
There is crazy Co-Efficient rules. Because DS takes it’s life force in 1% blocks.
Meaning, if you get hit for 1 damage or 1858 damage, it’s still a 1% block eaten.

So ya’d just think, well more vit = bigger 1% blocks, wayyyy better than tuf!
But, each second it degrades life force. So more vit = more loss per second. Also condi’s ignore armor/tuf.

(I still haven’t tested, if Soul Reaping 130% life force, is still eaten at exactly the same rate as 100%. When I tested it long ago, it actually just meant it took 30% extra to fill the bar, and still ticked down as fast/adsorbed same damage)

For starters, it’s not only Necro that use’s conditions in this game. Condi trait line & gear is for all class’s.

The next bit, don’t get too excited yet. “Further down the Road
Sounds like Condi fix, is on the back burner, and won’t be out this patch.

As it stands, there’s really only been 2 types of ideas I’ve heard thrown around.
Remove condi cap/make condi cap per player. Which ANet doesn’t want to, as it’ll add server load.
Or the more likely, condi’s will do ‘direct damage’ after cap.
This is going to be tricky to ‘balance’. Is it fair that someone get’s 10sec bleed damage instantly, every attack? No, and likely not going to happen.
Will it be ‘1 tick’ to keep it simple/low server load, as even if it’s say 33% damage, different condi damage, condi duration are going to need ‘rolls’.
If it go’s this way, condi damage will still be super far behind power, but hopefully be enough to get credit for events, even if you do no real help/damage.

I weirdly, like a 30/10/0/0/30 with, Divinity Runes.
Why? Because no one expects it!
Stick behind the group for a little. Jump out for a short burst of tanky in your face pew pew. Go and hide again.
I also enjoy the odd few rounds a MM. Usually with condi & chillz lots setup. Unexpected. That one can even have a roll, slowing and chewing on the ball carrier in 1 pvp round!

If you have a staff, you can flip other necro’s condi’s back on them, and then pew pew them with your full power/minions power ontop. Making you a very good ‘default necro hunter’.

-No help with res or stomp. Your necro, don’t go near them or ya’ll just die.
-Role would be jester. Were a joke, but funny to watch.
-Short bursts of Attrition, giggles. (Go-To Condi Reactor spec, out plays any other I’ve seen/heard of)

Q: About heals while in DS ?

Only real joy I’ve had back from Dev’s is… One plays a necro, he said the 1sec + lag before you get your heal button on your bar. Is annoying as hell, cause’s him unfair & unfun deaths. That’s getting fixed.

Dev’s in the past, said they were looking at doing something with heals. Because it sucks for other players to waste heals on us if were in DS. While we could take the cynical view of, they might just stop all heals going to the necro, ever so none are ever wasted… We can hope with the ‘fix’ to DS making it attached to our health bar, there’s a chance we might get 33% heals while in DS etc.

Other sort of related DS thing, that annoys the crap out of me. That I haven’t had a response to is… DS’s CD. I don’t think, the ‘exit death shroud’ should add a new CD to DS.
Go into DS, then if like 25% or less LifeForce, it’s faster & smarter to just let it ‘tick out’ then regen the LifeForce, than it is to exit and wait 10sec without being able to enter it again.
Some may see this is a exploit, but I simply feel it’s the way it SHOULD work. Seems most other ability CD from ‘on start’ not ‘on end’.

Soldier w/ Zerk accessories

Some kitten accessories, have Power/Pre/Vit/Crit Dam. Tho, they say we suppose to be attrition. Were are sort of little bit burst tanky, while being squishy DPS.

I’ve found that Knights (Pow/Pre/Tuf) with Divinity Runes, is about best balance I can get as Power Necro in PvE. Still doing ok damage, while being a bit tankyer than Zerker.

You do have the prob with that gear, where Tuf generates threat more than zerk gear. But sadly no ‘pow/pre/vit’ gears.

Anyway, that’s my take on it. It’s not like my guard, or how I even see gearing my war.

People excuse ANet for making the necro before they added Combo’s into the game. Then tacking them on to necro.

Other people say, well your minions are your finishers. Which could work if they weren’t useless, and more useless the harder things get going, when ya’d really like them combo’s going.

Minions an’t suppose to be risen dead/mobs… Tho how come Bone Fiend looks exactly like a dead mob risen?

Why pick on pore little Shade, he’s the only minion I don’t hate the look of!
(Undead Chicken with a whakitten y bits as a head, who’s scared of water… WTF ANet)

If it’s an ongoing problem for months and people won’t take the time to document it and do something about it, then who’s problem is it really?

I’ve spent much of my game time doing this. Not just in WvW, but also with ‘Teq Turret Trolls’.

GuildWars 2 is a PVE focused game, they probally make 90-95% of their money out of it from the PVE side.

Let’s talk about PvE then.

They nullify most specs/gears in game. Condi stacks, Immune to Crit, Immune to CC, can’t ‘tag’ enough as a support to get rewards.

New PvE content is ‘big zerg’, meaning as much ability lag as a WvW zerg, if not more, as it’s map cap + more mobs.

New gem shop items, are as inspiring to use in WvW as PvE. At least you get sexy finishers. I’m glad it’s not Pay to Win. Really respect ANet for it!
But, the mini-pet’s are such a pain! (Bags/Despawn when ya sneeze)
Perm PickAxe is nice, but they won’t let me swap them around so my necro can have the smoke one & my guard have the fire one. They told me to just buy another off TP, except it’s not on TP as it was a limited time thing.

Dungeons suck, worst in a MMO in a long time. I’ve bought copy of this game for friends, who I’d do up to 40 dungeons in other MMO’s in a leveling/dungy day.
They have done 1 here, and quit the game. They summed it up well, random chaos zerg, frustrating bit, zerg.

What about the top tier, layerd hard fights. Teq was a good step in that. Many things going on at once.
2 hour re-spawn?!! (Most serous raid guilds I’ve been in have a 3min res/buff/pull rule)
Can’t actually play with friends/guildys due to overflow/map full.
Can’t kick people from your group, AFK & deliberate AFK on turret trolls!!!

So from a PvE side of things, EverQuest or RuneScape is about on par. Many other MMO’s do it soo much better, some are free. (Not even buy the game cost)

I was hoping WvW was going to be more where ’it’s at’ in this game… But in the last week, we had our biggest WvW guilds leave the server. The couple of big guilds that are left, are trying to lose to drop ranks. Gona be huge fun in the new WvW comp system starting, when our ‘big zerg group’ is less than 10 players…

Dungeon support for necros is long overdue.

Bump A ‘role’ for PvE that necro’s fill would be very nice. (Tho if they get minions/blood magic working in PvE, I guess we’d do a swam or something ok)

I’ve been kicked from groups for being a necro.
I’ve had groups say, well if you keep dieing we’ll replace you, and been last standing multi-times and solo’ed boss’s with the dead screaming “Reset, you can’t do this without us”
Funnest was a warrior that kept dieing before making it to meele range of a boss, who even told me I was kiting the wrong way, I was going anti-clockwise and I should have been going clockwise.

I got to admit. If the groups got the damage, I prefer taking my guard. I’d say I’m only ‘ok’ with a guard, but soo many support seem to have no ‘raid awareness’ (Not sure what it’s called in this game, basically just having a clue what’s going on around them)
It’s also lots more relaxing on my guard. Necro’s always balancing CD’s/life force/condi stacks vs spike dam to leave DS and get utils & cleans back. Got to be soo tight on dodge’s. The slightly selfish feel, particularly if you just pop’ed DS/Litch and someone downs. Necro you got to weigh up, they worth giving up your CD’s and being weak yourself. Guard, you just wonder over, say ‘careful now’ and res them, roll as they get up and they full of health. If they lagy on res, throw a bit of protection on them, maybe a block.

Yeh, neeeeeeeeeed this for my Necro ;-P

Deathwish & Final Rest are nice necro feeling staff’s.

Eye of Rodgort nice Scepter.

I’ve also grabbed Reaver of the Mists & The Anomaly, not really necro but pretty.

Frostfang & Incinerator would prob be the only legendary I’d feel cumfy equipping as a necro tho. Both give some new animations.
The dagger, doesn’t really fit as it’s fire, but it’s very ‘jedi’ humor. With it just being a holster on your belt, and it’s got new animations on necro like ‘force throw’.

^- Pretty much same traits as last.
I also stick a staff with it. Bit more AoE/Utility/Slightly more pew pew in DS.
I usually go for Spect Armor in PvE. As protection is nice.
Blood is Power, as the might stacks bump up DS even more.

What? PvP warrior video vs PvE necro?

They were released around the same time. I think even there PvE war guide, from the guy who did our necro one, was more in depth. Tips for getting extra condi dam out of a power build that did bleeds while not losing out on power stats.

I think it’s awesome that they take the time out, to show there vision/ideas. I think the war video particularly was awesome.

Anyway, I was just trying to say, I think war’s are suppose to destroy us in PvP by design. Think the dev’s said something about given the tools to train us.

I personally felt that the PvP Intern finals summed it up for us nicely. Every time they said ‘oh the necro’s going to do something very powerful here’ they didn’t finish the sentence before saying ‘oh no, he’s dead’

That was my take on it anyway. Also good and funny vid. Was awesome to see Chaplin awake and alive! The dev that got mugged by a baby goat, is the guy dealing with necro bug list.

I’m not trying to cat about war vs necro. I’m simply saying I think it just is.

Is 30 in Blood really so bad for PVE?

I tried to make it work, for a long time.
It seemed best with wells, for more a bust support. (10 in soul reaping 15% faster DS #4 + transfusion from Blood, work nice together for dungeon group, as it’s a rather sexy heal in AoE burst situations, tho sadly doesn’t heal or help you.)

At the end of the day, my support guard, is arguably as much help to the group on average just Akitteng with the group, though it’s passive help.
Particularly with Putrid Mark being buggy and not removing Condi’s from Allies.

Anyway, as people say, it’s not broken bad. It’s just not the best use of traits. It can be a fairly good ‘allrounder’ tho.
Were all hoping that the next big patch, fix’s blood magic, minions, and condi’s in PvE…
