Tho, if you trait faster wells, and transfusion. You can do some nice ‘burst heals’. (Would still recommend a Guard/Ele for support heals tho)

Yes nice buff to DS. I managed to use it in dungys where all others had vigor and could get that extra dodge. I could constantly gen enough LF to suck up the odd hit.

Sure, the dagger dose more damage, and more heals.
But the axe is now ‘viable’. The range on it means you don’t just get out run in pvp, or have to stand in ick at mobs feet in pve. With a focus, it maintains good stacks of Vuln.

Im still not sold on this… Isn’t it suppose to be life lovers like ele’s and guards that burn, and were all death N cold?

After a few days of play… Im actually supper happy!

Stuff that they didn’t mention or I didn’t notice in patch notes.

1/3rd downed, and transforms going on full CD. Seems to be fixed :-))

I heard we need nurfing because someone got a 9.6k with custom runes to attack that mob type, food buffs & having others feed them might.

Didn’t I see the same setup on a war lets them do 40k on 100blades?

Guess we don’t have a DPS meter to kitten measure so we better do 1,000 attempts with buffs on the spell of choice. Oh the glory! I didn’t know number went that big, I struggle counting over 21, and need to be naked to even do that…

Only combo finisher not on pets.

For PvE, I’d def recommend power over conditions.

I personally use 30/0/10/20/10.

On blood, can swap BloodThrist & Transfusion around for group support. Wells & Vamp Precision. Dagger for faster CDs if you prefer staby staby.

Spite Axe for Marks tho 10% of power isn’t huge. (Less than 1dps increse). Might on DS1 for 50% downed dam can help in hard places as 1target fear isn’t exactly good at keeping ya safe while down.

You can also swap around traits for faster minion CD & more minion dam for boring farming wimpy mobs in magic find gear.

Anyway, that’s my swis army knife for PvE build(s)

Noob Lifesteal Questions

I’ve wanted to go power/vampire type.
As a general rule, healing power doesn’t do it for us.
Death into Life from Spite, and the extra Heals Power from Blood Magic should prob cover you.
After that, stacking healing power on gear is only going to give you about +4 heals or less per hit over stacking pow/pre gear.

Healing power ‘can’ be a boost from gear if your doing ‘support’ with Well of Blood & Transfusion. But excluding rare situations where you need ‘burst heals’ support heals are much better/constant from Guard/Ele’s and your better using wells/marks as support. (Regen from staff 2 for example, works of there healing power, not yours)

I’ve also ended up with half Zerker half Knight gear for PvE. PvP I flip around depending on mood ;-P

Let us res/stomp others in DS & Litch.

How come 10sec CD from DS start, if you run out of LifeForce and are force exited. But 10sec CD renewed if you exit yourself.

Some sort of heals in DS. I saw in a live stream with dev’s that it annoys the crap outa other class’s to heal a necro as it’s totally wasted if we in DS.

It’s very nice to finally get a big patch.
Grabbed a new shiny axe and it worked out good in dungeon. :-)
Faster projectiles very nice! Faster wells, also nice!
Having a ‘brake stun’ & 1sec stability. Ohhh yes! (40sec CD nice)
Better LifeForce gen, helps heaps.

Things this patch not so good:
Vamp. All Healing Power gear for +6 heals is still very far behind/still kinda useless.
Dhuumfire. Should be in Curse’s being crit & condition.

Dagger Mastery + Quickening Thirst. Consolidate and run speed to 25% not 15%.
Staff Mastery + Greater Marks. Consolidate.

Spite – Master: Spiteful Marks + Training of the Master + Axe Traning. Would love all 3 in the same spec.

Stuff that still drives me NUTS:

Transforms getting interrupted, going on full multi-min CD.
Can’t res people in Death Shroud/Litch Form.

Would love to see: Some fix/work around about not getting heals in DeathShroud. (Others wasting heals on me)
Vamp… I’d soooo love to be a evil life sucking evil one.

Spiteful Marks also could have been thrown in to with other staff stuff.

Dagger Mastery & Quickening Thirst, and bump it up to 25% movement speed. (Anyone acutally go 30 points blood magic to get 10 or 15% movement speed with dagger?!!)

Dhuumfire – Curse’s tree no Spite? It use’s Cond Dam & requires Pre to trigger it. Shrugs

New Vampiric - How Does it Work?

It’s a baby step in the right direction.
When you think Ele/Guard heals is about 80 per sec to everyone around for a trait cost. Ele’s 6sig heals 200 + heal power. It would be nice if it did something more or was doubled ;-P

I’d love to see it heal you while in Death Shroud. And/Or the Bloodthirst also heal people around you.

Isn’t it suppose to start it’s CD on Entering DS. Like Ele’s changing element?
One day, they are going to fix the bug where it got it’s CD again for leaving yourself…

Transfusion + Life Transfer channeling while your DS ticks out, means you drop out and the channel continues & you get some heals. I think that’s actually a bug.

Oh but go’s on CD for 25sec if they use there heal. But doesn’t cost them traits. Ele’s can also flip into water for 80 HPS + 0.05 * Healing Power. And can trait that to heal others. Well, 80 heals will do, let us heal party with it! Anything, just not 25 or 38 with even more trait cost, not being affected by heals power!

Only if your a different class.
E.G. Ele’s Signet of Restoration. Per hit = 202 (0.1 * Healing Power)
Necro Vampiric. Per hit = 25 (Not affected by healing power)

If you use Minor Bloodthirst, it increase’s it to 38.
If you use Major Vampiric Precision, you heal 31 extra if your crit. 51 extra if BloodThrist.

Major Vampiric Master, 79 per pet attack, 114 BloodThirsty.

So, Id say not really. As it’s not affected by heal power.

They LoL’ed and said that Vamp traits were totally useless.
They also said they didn’t like other class’s wasting heals on necro’s in case they were in DShroud & missed all effects.

Don’t worry tho, they will fix it by allowing necro’s to receive no heals at all, when they finally release the 1/3rd downed life fix. As it’s such “a pretty risky change”. ;-P

6 months after that Im sure the will add (Excluding Necro) in heals tooltips.

Trolling aside, I can’t wait to actually see what actually changes. Im not going to stress about non-official patch notes.
Tho, things they did say… was DS 5’s new condition to help stop people running away… Given to 2 escape artist class’s as-well as us?

Very nice work! Point hopefully made. Tho when you see LFR website for CoF1 it’s still mostly Zerker wars only ping gear.

Rather than just start 1 class only bias. Why not work on fastest group whatever class.
As a necro, I’d like a support war’s banners. A non-support fire/air staff ele to do nice dam & buffs. etc.
Imagine if people realized that there’s not the 1 spec, 1 class only.

Guess this is what Anet meant about necro’s getting CC’ed then ‘Trained’.
Dev’s also said that, if we had stability we’d just be guardians.
Hope we get more/shorter CD ‘Brakes Stun’

There’s also little bits, like. They moa you and your pets are gone.

They can be one of the most annoying class’s to catch, especially if they know what glowy hands to look for.

Oh and as for actually finishing them off… It’s not quite like our 1 person fear.

As your traits will change every level, I’ll just try to give you some tips.

To get your minions to attack, you need to auto-attack twice, which the axe dose each auto-attack. It also stacks vul on the targets helping your minions attack.

Minions don’t benefit from what gear you use.
So going pow/tuf/vit will let you be tanky. Axe & PvE in general works best with power. So pow/pre/tuf gear will let you do a little extra damage on top.

You will find that blood fiend can be a pain as he die’s whenever going get’s tough, when you need heals the most. So I can highly recommend ‘Consume Conditions’ as your default 6 heal. Well of Blood can also be very nice, as it heals your minions, and if doing stuff like events in with other players, them too. Problem with it, it’s 40sec CD if you don’t trait it.

Trait wise:
20 Points in Spite, will give you power & longer vul time so nice with axe, the Master let’s you pick 30% more minion damage.
10 Points into Death Magic, get’s 20% recharge on minions, not just there skills but the how long till you can summon them again. Your going to want this as they do die.
20 Points Blood Magic, Vampiric Master, gets your pets attacks to heal you. Not affected by heal power, but quite nice constant heals when your pet’s aren’t dead. The 10 Points, will get you 50% stronger Vamp Master. Or the other I can highly recommend is ‘Transfusion’, which makes your Death Shroud 4, do a nice big heal to pets and people around you, while doing a nice AoE.

Death Magic tree, is heavy in other minion based stuff, 15 points says +20 toughness per minion out, but that’s at 80, so it scales down at lower levels.

Other thing is, Staff is very nice. Staff 2, will get Regen on your pets when they have monsters bashing on them. Auto attack is about our only combo finisher, tho your pets will trigger them quite nicely. Marks also allow for some AoE, your minons and axe only really attack 1 target at a time.

Not sure if true, but supposed leaked info is:

Torment: Added a new Condition called Torment. This does damage every second (75% of a bleed), and double damage to foes that are moving(150% of a bleed).

New ability #5 – Dark Binding: You tether all enemies within a 600 range, constantly dealing Torment to them over time. At the end of the cast, Dark Binding immobilizes all affected enemies still within the radius.

1/3rd downed life.

Res others while in Death shroud/Litch Were burning our time in that form to stop other players being upset.

Fizz/failed spells Long CD spells not casting and going full CD because of parthing. Transforms like Litch/Plague get 180sec CD because a class without stability got bumped, frustrating. Other spells have a 3second ‘intrupted’ CD.

Vamp/siphon fix At least beef it up to keep up with Ele’s 6 sig. I’d personally love to see it work with heal power & spread to allys.

Minion Clear there CD on res. 2 Hits with auto-attack to make them attack is slow & painful intro per mob/person. Make them tele/reset more often, even in sPvP you walk over a rock and they brake until dead/re-summoned.
Lots of other games have reduced AoE dam taken. D3 added in ‘max life taken per hit’ so they couldn’t be 1-2shot. Let us have a ‘come here’ – god Im sick of them camping in fire, running off and keeping me in combat.

PvE condition Own stacks, hit objects like turrets.

Where’s my buttons for 1-2 sec after I leave death shroud?

Projectiles Can’t shoot roots/things on our feet, projectiles flying over things like objects in WvW.

Soul Reaping – Increased Life force Still ticks same % per sec away from 130% as 100%. Mitigation being in 1% blocks means very small chance this ever dose anything of slight help.

Combo Finisher 20% on staff one, and err… More plz!

Melee Cleave Also having to have targets selected. Dagger/Axe #2-3 attacking/siphoning the air and going on CD? (Well I get axe 3, I use it to hope to bust stealth players)

DeathShroud Less Erratic empty, totally full when fights over. Heals while DS is up, in some way that’s fair. Currently doesn’t work defensively very often, and usually hurts us in the long run as we miss all the groups heals after burst dam recovery. Also makes things like vamp traits less useful again.

Others running from us Hopefully this new condition, and if you fixed fizzed spec grasps will go a long way to this. Could give us a button that says “Come back, come BACK! It’s only a rash.”

Mini pets Stop them de-spawning or give us a button/keybind to summon Mini Shade. :-)

While were not top for dps, there’s a few overlooked things.

We ‘stack’ things together. For example, each minion is doing there own dam, then you have yours ontop in any gear types not affecting them. Minions are sadly pretty useless except for the odd single target, solo farm.

Ok, the staff. With #2 you can maintain regen on meele at the same time as doing a tap of damage & nice long bleeds. You can slow the burst of dam with #3 (movement & spell recharge) also reduce there heals, and dose damage ontop.
Our #1 is only say 2/3rd as strong as a fire ele’s staff #1, but go’s thru a line of monsters hitting them all.
You can leave 2 marks on the ground for them to walk into, and hit a row of them per attack. 5 flavors of aoe damage at the same time, de-buffing the monsters & buffing your meele.
Ontop of that, #3 is a Poison combo field for a short time.

Wells, (You kinda really want 20points in Blood for the 20% faster CD.)
Suffering & Corruption, both tick damage while your doing your other attacks ontop.
While there doing dam, there also doing other nice little things like stacking vul, turning boons into on conds.
Nice long Dark combo fields!
(While on wells but off topic of stacking damage, Well of Blood is a 10 sec Light Combo field)

10 Points Blood magic, Transfusion. Makes your DShroud 4, heal everyone around you nearly 2k in 3 seconds, at the aoe burst time when it’s nice for extra heals, on top of doing some rather nice aoe dam, and extending your DShroud up time.

So, while a war can go ‘100 blades’ oh that 1 number is soo big I need a mes to carry my big 2handed ego, by confusing the monsters with shiny things. You can have done alot of smaller numbers together & buffed/debuffed/healed all at once.

The dev’s just said it was totally useless, not that they were going to fix it.
They did say they would look into fixing the annoyance of others wasting heals on us if we were DShrouded.
So my guess at the fix was to stop necro’s getting any heals, and in 6months doing a fix of adding ‘excluding nero’ on heal tooltips. ;-P

Axe Damage

Axe isn’t much use. #2 for medium range as we know is nice. #1 is nice for MM as it dose 2x attacks per attack, so it sets your minions num num’s in half the time of staf, and vun is nice with minions.

Truthfully tho, dagger usually wins over. Once you get over it’s range.
Auto-Attack starts with 2x to get pets hungry, then gens life force. Is soo much faster.
Tho #2 doesn’t quite do the dam, it’s keeping up/doing sexy numbers with the heal on top.
And #3 is soo much nicer for ‘stand in my well’ rather than ‘walk slowly out my well’.

Necro has to stay in the fight?

Pats Tow-e-lie Lame troll aside:

Dev’s did say they re-doing our DShroud to deal with damage, even in WvW where it’s not 1v1 or 1v2.
They did LoL hard & say our Siphon is totally useless.
Someone said it’s annoying to heal a necro as they are usually wasted if they use DShroud to mitigate damage. Hopefully the dev’s don’t fix this by not allowing any heals to work on a necro & then fix’ing that by updating tooltips to say (Excluding Necro’s)

Anyways, dev’s did seem to be working on fixing up the issue’s raised here.
Others I’d also very much liked looked at;

1/3rd Downed life!

Some more combo finisher’s. (1 per weap type, or even a fast CD 7-9 Skill, or DShroud, or more than the 20% chance with staff for most builds)

Projectiles being fixed so we can brake roots, and not shoot over objects (like in WvW)

Yeh, I’ve had the 53 HP a tick heals.

Im not sure how they have fixed it in sPvP & rolling a new necro.
I haven’t rolled a new necro to check. Im also not soo sure about it actually being fixed in sPvP. If Im down’ed Im in big, big trouble. Even if someone with stability doesn’t come stomp me.

I’ve known ANet to say they have fixed things, that they haven’t. So shrugs

Attrition? not even close

Most tanky I’ve found, is full Pow/Vit/Tuf gear, full minions & heals traits.
Extra tuf per minion, minions heal per hit with 50% siphon.

All good till your minions die to splash, or a aoe. Or you walk over non-flat ground and they brake. Or you get CC’ed. Or someone outruns you, gets out of combat, then comes back to finish you off while your still in combat.

It showed up when they ‘fixed up’ our DS. We can now see our health bar hasn’t moved while we are in DS, can’t swap weaps.

It’s been fixed in sPvP & IF you roll a new necro.

I’d also like to point out, Downed #2 is pretty under cooked vs other class’s.

1/3rd downed life, FIX IT.

It’s not just grasp that has invis wall issues. It’s pretty much everything!
From minions attacking, spots that minions just brake and wont do anything again till re-summoned. Wormy tele/placement. etc.

On cast issue’s, there’s our projectiles. Litch going over things so you can’t attack them. Most of them not being able to hit roots or things directly under you.

Yeh, the runspeed and out of combat. I find it’s vs Eng’s ‘mostly’ that they run off, I burst every speed boost I have, even our swiftness from spectral. Still can’t keep range on them to hit them, even when they started at meele range. There out of combat and healed while Im still in combat?!!

So you thought necrotic traversal was bugged?

As we have stated before, have it show the red line on the button saying you can’t range this, when it wont work, or if too hard to code UI to reflect what the game checks on cast, let us only drop it at our feet, and then tele back to it without issue’s, like what the mes’s get.

We do NOT want to exploit the game by getting places we shouldn’t go. We just don’t want to learn each pixel in world this thing works vs the one next to it.

Casts that go Fizz and go on CD doing nothing when you cast because the ground wasn’t flat, are not fun.

I’ve tried setting up high level farming groups of nice players.
Once you get to 4x players, even trying not to kill the mobs too fast, they die too fast anyway, and people miss out on kills.

It really has been setup to promote being a kitten. The most rewarding plan is to rush and kill them before others get there, while abusing others on the map so they leave.

It’s sadly snuck into the game. It’s the most low brow abuse I seen players doing to each other in this game. :-(

Im happy with rng.
I can see how the 3 wins at 50s a try is a bit pricy for some. (Didn’t stress me, but I made 3 friends get this game in the past month. Not the ‘oh the world events are awesome you can do them first day of play’)

What troubles me the most is… your #2. It’s NOT like the other events. If you don’t do enough damage you get no loot/achievement.
The thing I love most about this game is, not fighting each other for rewards!
This event is the first time it’s felt like WoW or Rift, where abusing other players is a core element. Even someone in this threat pointed out, the best plan is to abuse others till they leave the map.

I’ve tried more quiet higher level maps (So the monsters die slowly), set up groups of nice players where we wait on each other, try not to do too much damage so others don’t miss out.
But, once you get 4x people on the node, you start missing on kills. Even with them all trying there hardest to share.

You also didn’t point out about the massive exploits left in this patch. From knocking down moa’s, to eating to cheat in dragon ball.

Some people are just going to rant no matter what. But, I feel a lot of people love this game very deeply, and that this event really shows some troubling things. Where speaking our point of view on the forums, because were worried about our loved baby.

I like half zerker, half knights for PvE.

Condi builds are just frustratingly bad in PvE.
Can’t attack objects (Weapon racks, doors, etc)
Most group events, will have others stacking bleeds to 25 so you will just push others bleeds off of targets, or if others have more condition damage, push yours off so you wont get credit.
By the time you have your stacks up and ready to press Epidemic, a war has had time to 100 blades twice and everything already dead. (For most the mob life size in game)

Downed HP still not fixed.

By the price of the wings on TP, Id guess there’s lots of players doing this and not fighting for the Holo spawns.
