He is wrong.

Power scaling is directly tied to weapon damage. so, normally, yes it would.
an exotic rifles max damage is 1205, and a pistols max is 1029.
(grenade kit is 969)
Power means more for a rifle, as damage is calculated as:

skill coef*weapon damage*power/armor of target

Tooltip damage assumes a target has 2600 armor. Which is equiv to the heavy golem, and higher then most players.

However, remove your rifle or pistols. Grenade barrage still has a damage value.
Grenade barrage uses the grenade weapon kit 969 damage, it does NOT use your rifle or pistols weapon damage.

What it DOES use, is their STATS, when they and NOT the grenade weapon kit are equiped.

Stat wise 2 pistols=1 rifle.
Exotic zerker rifle=179 power, 128prec, 9% crit damage.
Exotic pistols= 90 power, 64 prec, 5% crit damage.
(admittedly, Im assuming its just a rounding error for the variance.)

I don’t recommend coated bullets after much practice, reviewing the coeffs, and really giving other builds a shot.

Coated bullets only effects 2 skills. pistol 1 and pistol 2.
Venom shot becomes piercing. however, due to the spread of it, even 2 enemies lined up, you will hit the first target 5 times, and the second target 2 times. Same goes with any amount of a pack. only 1 or 2 of its hits will actually hit any particular target.

Pistol 1. units have collision, and you will pretty much NEVER in any game situation get more then 3 units close enough together to have more then 3 hit 1 target.
So best case scenario is the each target hit hits 3 times. The base coeff is .324.
grenade 1 for reference is .478 each. and thus innately .926. so coated bullets in BEST case scenario is getting up to equal with grenade 1 all the time. Most of the time, its not even. simply put, you are better off putting those trait points elsewhere. spending those extra 10 points on buffing what is without question the worst weapon skill in the game, makes no sense.
p1 is terrible, terrible terrible.
You most certainly do NOT get 4.5-5.5k crits on it. You 600 crits on it with a power build. x3 up to 2k total per target.

.324 scaling with 2s bleed.
vs Elixir gun 1 is .380 scaling with 4s bleed.

Mathematically, yeah, even pistols scale better with power then cond.
Zerks, knights or rabid.

The +range on pistols has little use, as you need to be fairly close to make them effective. blowtorch, venom are very much melee abilities. Glue shot is best used to keep targets IN melee, not out.

I would go 20 firearms (cdr), 30 alch (hgh, 409). and you can choose where to place the rest. inc powder and +duration/power. static discharge in tools, etc.

p/p, elixir H, elixir gun, elixir b(or slick shoes), elixir R, supply drop.

p2 .37
p3 .37

Zhaitan raises both the bodies AND the souls of the fallen, binding them to his will.

A bit of a tangent, but I actually found a sad ghost somewhere (I wish I could remember more details) who was moping that his body was off doing Zhaitan’s evil bidding.

Which surprised me because most of the time he seems to bind their actual souls to his will as well? This is reflected in Grenth's reaper tasking you to get someone back from Zhaitan (by killing them again!), along with the Eyes being bound souls of Orrian royalty.

Maybe it can go either way? Or am I just missing something? shrug.

Yeah the sad ghost was in Mt. Maelstrom.

Also, Orr itself, destroyed long before Zhaiton. Now, granted their shouldn’t even have been bodies… but lets say the water preserved them. The ghosts were seperated. and Zhaitan doesn’t have ghosts in his army. Look at Ascolan. that is ghosts. So, pretty sure mostly Zhaitans forces are the bodies, which may or may not have held much of their knowledge. A few cases of liches however, where the soul is still there.
Could be he does both too. If he gets you alive, he can enslave your soul. if he just gets your body, then its just your body.

I do find it interested in some games that have lore on necros as good. Diablo notably. The necromancers are shepards of the dead, and cultists of the true death god.
Here, although professions in general are not presented as things. There isn’t an elementatalist magical college. necros are not the local death priests. These things aren’t even really presented in game. No hints at schools one might have gone too, or where you would apply your trade outside of “adventuring”.

All servers were even when the game went live. TA announced the server it was going on 10seconds before the game went live, to its members.
HoD rose up to #1, it didn’t start there.

Anet refused to lock it, despite us BEGGING for free xfers to be stopped, or at least highpop servers to be locked.

Thieves not rendering got my vote… going from 100% to 20% to an invisible foe = broken

Who here knows the mechanics of stealth and thief? Im judging no one above.
The first hit from stealth is pretty much always for free and invisible and usually a backstab or backstab combo.

A fully geared backstab that takes down another glass cannon with no toughness and no orbs and has the HP of a rabbit (or under lvl 80) is perfectly normal.

There are to many glass cannons saying they die to quickly…… thats the issue. Glass cannon is the thiefs favorite prey

I assume you play a thief, and therefor haven’t noticed it.
Spvp and wvw are different. Loading issues in mass pvp, and even when alone if the wvw world is lagging a bit, mean you don’t render after you break your stealth. 4-5s of “loading” invis every time you break your stealth.
Its an issue of visual culling and lag. Again, even with SSD here. There is often a large delay, or as mentioned server side culling.

yeah. I hate to diminish JQ for bringing the fight we’ve been dying for on HoD.

But I feel like we were sandbagged by Arenanet and other sources. Its no coincidence HoD’s pop vanished after Sunday evenings patch broke WvW.
Brought it back within 1k and suddenly we vanish during prime time? Trying to make a comeback when the game is in a near unplayable state during actual pvp is nearly impossible.
It was the last straw for a great many.

CND destroying TA 2 weeks after they quit, the day of the best matchup yet. Awesome guys. thanks. Brilliant job completely counter-mining everyone else. Not giving any other TA leadership a heads up, destroying militia moral by posting on Guru. You did a perfect job destroying the TA legacy, and any chance of TA reforming.

We’ve been begging for Free xfers to be shut down for nearly a month. And yet, here we are.

Hollow victory, and thats just lame. Its not JQ’s fault in any way. but HoD is currently less then a shell of what it was.

Hod beat JQ last week and it was very close in this match up between this this time also up until about the last day or so. Not sure if more people left HOD or what but it looks like JQ has it now.

But last week, we were literally all playing alts, etc. it wasn’t really close at all.

ok you know what. ET and HoD can both burn in hell. if you SERIOUSLY need a group of 20-30 people with siege in eternal jumping puzzle just to get a kill (where you sit there for hours w8ing) then you seriously suck at the game.

HoD with arrow carts and ballista at the top. ET with ballista in the middle. both with whole zergs just sitting there.

if you want to know why we currently own 80% of the eternal battlegrounds map. then you should look at what your zergs are doing.

as for me. i sitting on your tower next to spawn laughing at you.

The only thing I can think of here is “free xfers lol”.
Our militia being smart enough to stay out of that garbage while focusing on WvW was a good part of our success.
we have sat there and laughed at others servers killing grubs and scouts counting/watching other servers go into the jumping puzzles, while our forces stayed on target.
It makes me wonder what is going on, if we suddenly now have people in WvW farming karma, and doing jumping puzzles instead of WvW.

P/S - Cond/Prec/Tough - Am I doing it wrong?

I lost any faith in condition damage competing with power/crit even in “condition based” weapons like p/p and elixir gun.
Even with those, yes you will do better with power/crit. And getting condition damage from might.

Possibly rampagers, power/crit/cond. that might have merit.

Pretty much all your skills scale with power with a direct damage hit. Explosive shot, venom shot, static shot, blowtorch.
Elixir gun1 , elixir F, acid bomb. (fumigate does scale with power, but horribly)

Exotics from dungeons and karma in orr can be bought with crit/tough/prec.

We’ve never seen HoD lose, so have no idea what a #1 loosing to anyone will look like in terms of points..

although… they did show the formula didn’t they? Maybe we can project. I’ll have to go look at that.

Mesmers Portal Over Walls?

There is an exploit for porting inside walls that keeps getting deleted every time its brought up.
Which is frankly lame, as people can’t defend against it, if they don’t know about it.

So yes, it is possible you didn’t make a mistake, and miss the mesmer. He might have glitched into a wall to hide, or just outright blinked through the walls.

We lost hills to a mesmer on sunday, on HoD to this. JQ dropped outer walls, was repelled. multiple people did mesmer sweeps. Skeleton crew was repairing, etc. 10min later. ET claims hills, without orange swords going up. Inner walls never breached.

Later when we get it back another 10min, we do a sweep and find a mesmer trying to blink into a wall to hide.

nah, this new bug could be. Again, this is clearly 2 different bugs.

Npcs don’t load. that sounds more like a client based rendering issue, then the server-side culling issue.
reloading seems to clear it up, until you run out of cache again, at which point it happens again. Again, implying THIS one is client based.

For Invigorating Speed to work….where are you getting Swiftness from? I don’t see you having Infused Precision or Speedy Kits. Just the auto drink Elixir B at 75% health?

Invig speed works on all sources of swiftness, including allies.
Swiftness here would come from H sometimes, F sometimes, B at 75% health, or allies.

Still protection or fast acting might better. The vigor would be unreliably, holdover from usually using B.

Cannons are the first thing to die. Poor design honestly. Way too easy to take them out and the operator.

10 vs 25. call in re-enforcements in /map of course first. is there an organized pvp group on that map with you? if so they will likely respond.
If not, take it on yourself to organize a bit. Set a rally point so they don’t trickle in.
You can either set up a means to enter via back door. (un-assailed door, or mesmer portal) or establish a rally point outside for randoms to meet up and then attack as a group. Example. you are in brair keep, you need help. Tell re-enforcments to rally at vale arch/sentry. and to then precede to briar when you have a force of 10-15.

10 man alone. catapults, arrow carts built back away from wall aoe. Pummel for a awhile. focusing on killing any rams. once siege machines are down, you can focus on breaking the siege. (offensive cata’s are harder to deal with)
On call, charge out together. situation will dictate if frontal, or side attack is ideal.
Most classes have an ability that makes a charge very effective.
Mesmer portal/quickness onto catapult line.. Engi supply drop, thief dagger storm, etc.

I’ve nearly broken seiges single handedly with supply drop and grenade barrage. give me quickness and projectile absorb/reflect and yeah. seriously, mesmer/engi probably can 2v25.

yeah, I think this bug is client based, not directly related to the serverside culling.
This one seems to be a rendering issue, possibly vid card related.

To be clear, last nights patch introduced a new and totally different rendering bug. This is not the “only 30 players can be on screen at once, and often those 30 are players on your server behind you, while 50 opposing players are standing right in front of you and not loading” issue.
This new one occurs with out large numbers of players being present. happens to npcs and players. and is persistent. They will never load in.

Its a great weapon kit, and I actually use it a lot underwater. I mean:

The glue shot is great for pvp and WvW for catching weak stragglers.

The green gas of death is honestly my favorite.

Skill 4 has escape potential if it had a longer jump range, but other than that, its not that good of a skill.

Healing Elixer is the best of all the skills and when you are at the door, that is your allies’ best friend.

Would I make it my primary kit, no, that spot is reserved for my flamethrower, which is ten times more viable.

Acid elixir does seem bad at first. Mostly just used for the jump back I’m sure.
But really testing its damage, it is very high. its a point blank lava font.
If the animation was more visible I think it would be more scary. No one realizes how much damage it does. This is esp true since most elixir gun builds don’t stack power/crit. they probably are doing cond or healing.

A stun or immobilize preceding it though. Dropping it on a downed player, will finish them off, while you run off.

Trying it figure out if a flame/elixir gun double kit build will work. would probably need a naga or something to really make use of fast swapping.
Note, my skill coeffs posted earlier do not count the +15% damage buff trait.
15% damage and 20% cd traits for both.

Elixir gun is 1200 range. might from juggernaut, getting +30% duration, from alch, and holding over to elixir. Napalm and ammo +burn applied to elixir gun1.

Gear knights, valk or zerker. typical power/crit. Cond will come from might stacks.

pistol 1 is .324 scaling with a 2s bleed.
elixir 1 is .380 scaling with a 4s bleed.

(granted elixir gun is 969 damage, exotic pistol is 1025)
1500 power, 1000 cond would be:
pistol 1: 191dd , 190 bleed.
elixir1: 212dd , 380 bleed.

exotic pistol is 6% more damage then elixir gun, but elixir 1 is 17% more damage then pistol 1. And this is direct. Elixir 1 is twice as much bleed damage.

Elixir gunskill coeffs:

1: .380
2: .715
3: .385/2.25s (terrible)
4: .809/s for 5s. (wow)

Yeah, a bit disappointed with ET’s performance last night. Partially a HIGHLY suspect steal on an upgraded Hills. and largely due to the lack of any resistance beyond the afore mentioned. Ruin, came to green. Left. outmanned. TL came to green, left. outmanned. Foe came, left. outmanned. I feel bad for the ET militia that were at least trying to fight, and just getting pummeled by JQ and us.

You are looking at that all wrong. 6-8s for 30-40 people. 1g8s- 3g20s is what its actually giving. If you are not distributing the wealth, then thats kindof your fault. You can’t expect them to have an algorithm to check to see who spent siege.

Just deleting vids of the wall bypass exploit.. yeah. Not even commenting on it. When is this going to be addressed?
4 separate people did a mesmer sweep after we pushed JQ out of hills. you never even got into inner. Then suddenly ET takes hills without putting up swords, and inner walls never being breached? would love to know what happened there.

The only thing more silly about lack of badges is lack of things to buy with them.
Badge gear is awful.
Siege from badges is WAY overpriced. 100badges or 1g for a golem?what? Can make 3 gold a day, collect 30 badges maybe.

yeah. something got broke in this patch it seems.

Multiple times tonight since patch. found myself being attacked by completely invisible targets. which would NEVER pop in.

I even ressed, and sat and chatted with an ally that I could only see via a green dot on the minimap. and the res icon.
we were completely alone.

I would like to make three points.

First, you guys are mashing our faces in, great job.

Second, don’t get excited too much JQ, two tweeks ago HoD was much farther back on Sunday night and not only made up the ground, they dominated the end-score. We were dancing in the streets two weekends ago popping champaigne and calling for strippers to celebrate our victory and, well, come Wednesday the only thing hitting HoD holdings were tumbleweeds…

Third, if HoD comes back and wins this thing I think we can all say that Titan Alliance was a non-factor in the server winning. HoD won in spite of them, not because of them. Just sayin’. Think about it…

Have we not said all along that HoD wins due to the work as a server not just the work of TA alone? Calling TA a non-factor is ridiculous, and an insult to its members efforts. But we have at no point discounted the fact, we can not be everywhere all the time. HoD has a strong WvW population. And we are undefeated because of that. TA would be competitive on any server. But HoD is undefeated because of HoD as a whole.

We were outmanned in Red borderland Saturday night. Buff and all. Militia was doing most of the work. TA had a directed 6 man group trying to keep and eye on Bay, and just in general be a pain in the butt, with supply camps.
It wasn’t until later that a guild not in TA came on, rallied the map, and took control that we made progress, turning half the map green.

Praetorian Legion [SPQR] gets the nod for that one. Some TA were on the map still, I noted a number of [ARMA]. but it was [SPQR] that spearheaded. the rest of us left Red, because it was in good hands.

It probably should go without saying, but honestly, you guys made a huge mistake leaving NSP.
Why was Ruin on NSP? Because AA said they were going to go to NSP. You and many other like minded WvW focused players flooded NSP. NSP was crowded because it was FULL of players that wanted to WvW. Queues were heavy, and AA made the choice to ditch all those people that wanted to pvp, to go to a low pop server.
well guess what. That low pop server is low pop because its not full of competitive pvp players.
People that wanted to WvW and win, joined the big ones. Now you have a large pve player base on your server Full status, when its WvW is certainly not full.

I don’t know about that. Logic says if something effects grenades, it would effect all of them.

however, Cooldown traits would double up and by overpowered, so they do not work.
Same goes for elixirs. The 20% reduced cooldown trait for elixirs does not effect elixir gun elixirs, or toolbelt thrown elixirs.
The elixir gun cooldown does the gun, and the toolbelt cd reduction passive effects the belt.

The only time i notice the problem is when a Mesmer uses his portal skill. Just Limit this Portal for Partyonly or 5 People only, so there won’t be an invis zerg fest.

I assure you, it happens way way more often then that.

The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

At the moment its 500 slots per WvW Map / 2000 per entire Matchup. So thats 166 slots per faction per map.
The biggest gains will come from the coding, i do wonder though when is this game going to be running on GPU ? Will this eventually come with the DX11 update ?

those were the projected numbers in beta.

Every attempt to get a count on how many are in has come up with numbers more like 80-100 per faction per map.

some good stuff here. was arguing a grenade build in other thread for spvp too.

I was saying rifle still, but the blind/confuse is very good.. I would probably use slick shoes as well, which I dont use in wvw/pve.

Grenade builds can really take advantage of working with an ally as well. the ability to just turn up the damage, the moment someone is preoccupied can’t be overlooked.

Not sure on condition damage though, even with a p/p. You say it leaves more room for kiting, but you deal more damage instantly, then condition damage deals over 10s with power/crit.
Condition damage just doesn’t scale well at all. you had to land that first hit to apply the condition damage as well.

Your grenade barrage does like 1300. A power/crit one does like 4-5k.

Rabid
153x 5- 765 (41% crit, 170% damage crits)
and 189/s for 12s. 2376

vs
zerkers
317×5 1585 (41% crit, 190% damage)
97×12= 1164

1400 vs 3k venom direct attacks average. blowtorch, 800 vs 1800
Swaping power and condition damage 1 to1, your direct damage increases more.
And that is without including crit.
And assuming the condition damage isn’t removed. I can’t imagine any situation where 3k + 1.1k isnt better then 1.4k+ 2.3. The first is more damage, and its more bursty as well.

Its not like these moves stop dealing condition damage as well. and more importantly, you are still getting the blind, the anti-heal.

Granted, you may want knights or valk instead of zerker.

power, crit, crit damage is kindof out of whack with toughness, vit

Add quickness into the mix and its even worse.

I would agree blind/dodge/block/evade is more important then toughness.

Look at that point tally for JQ! Well guys, I want to let you all know that Jade Quarry has now won. We have over a 400 point lead. Our entire server is going to disband because we have proven that we are unable to be matched. We are just able to stomp our enemies so hard, that we are now going to put our efforts into other games. Some people will still stay in Jade Quarry, but no longer under any leadership. We have an outstanding record of 400 more points, and I’d like to thank all the guilds that participated in capping everything the past hour. Some of our members will be transferring to other servers, and some will stay, but let it go down in history that with this 400+ point lead, we are now the winner, which no one can dispute, because I made a post about it.

Congratulations! You guys fought hard and deserve all due respect.

We on HoD are now recruiting, and would welcome any of your afternoon crew that may wish for more competition.

They used our mesmers to get past outer. which we used because you weren’t paying attention after we took down outer gate, but didn’t have the numbers to hold it, with respawns coming at us from behind. About 25 total players. maybe 15 PRX.

While the rest of us went to clear south outer gate of the siege, one or more of the people that used our mesmer portals to get in, did not follow. We didn’t even go look at the inner doors/walls. I have no idea if any were down or not. I am not going to accuse them of cheating, when I didn’t even look. It was admittedly very suspect, but I have no evidence. So, the OP’s claim is now in question, as no PRX member touched the orb. And thus the OP clearly did not actually see it happen either. If they just assumed a PRX member took it, how do I know they didnt just assume all the gates/walls were intact?

I don’t know how you read, “no PRX were there” as an admission. I can’t confirm or deny it was exploited, because we didnt see it happen. we were not there.

The thing is grenades are the top end damage option. Whether you go condition damage or power, and it is blatantly clear they are outperforming everything else.

So it is safe to assume that either they’ll get nerfed or everything else will get buffed.

But it is worth going 30 into firearms if your running a condition / pistol / flamethrower spec.

For non FT power specs 30 points is a bit of a waste since you’ll get better damage going 10 more into explosives for the power.

So mathematically grenades come out ahead, but the play style of FT and P/P specs are very different from grenade, so if you like them use them. All in all the difference is not game breaking unless if your pushing the limit in tpvp, where your more than likely going to be using a bunker point guarding spec anyway.

I really like doing a 10 30 0 30 0 PP build with elixirs / FT or Bomb kit. Toss in a bit of carrion / rampager gear and it’s a lot of fun to play. It has good damage, good survivability, and your not lobbing grenades all the time.

yeah, in pve and wvw, grenades flat out, out perform. And this is even with p/p condition build. default grenades are stronger then traited pistols really. traited grenades just ruin pistols.

spvp is a bit different. as its more 1v1 and small scale. The aoe ground targeting is less effective. now, that said, I have argued that even then grenades are still more then viable, and probably could be king if played well. A grenade build can lean on an allies CC to drop people in ways p/p can’t. But regardless, if we are building a p/p build.
the question is what do we get for those 10 points past 20. 5% to bleeding targets, which doesnt effect your condition damage. And likely coated bullets. which has very little use in spvp. helps vs mesmers a bit.
You get more crit and cond damage, which is nice and ideal for sure.
But you would get more from another 10 in tools for kit refine or speedy kits, and its toolbelt recharge. or 10 in explosives. which would give that 10% duration for hitting 50% easier, and incid powder, which is bad aoe, but good single target. or 10 in invent, for the tough/heal

And yes, juggernaut is obviously quite good.

No Coated bullets is not worth it.
First, note, that it only effects pistol 1 and 2. Static doesnt peirce with it. And blowtorch already was aoe/pierce. glueshot same deal, ground target. doesn’t pierce.

So poison dart volley.
Pierces! nice. but given the arc of pdv, the piercing effect only accounts for 1 or 2 hits actually landing on a second target 90% of the time. There is little to no practical purpose for this. If PDV worked like war volley, etc, where it just shoots in a straight line, you could line up two targets and unload. it does not. it spreads and misses.

Explosive shot. now this gains from coated bullets the most obviously.
It will suddenly now do double hits pretty often as it collides with the ground/walls, max range. these double hits will only apply 1 direct bleed, as its an aoe hit doing the second hit, however can apply the bleed on crit twice. which is frankly a bug. And will get this nerfed even more at some point when its fixed.
Exponential growth! everyone stacked on top of each other!!! ok heres the problem.
There is unit collision. basically you will NEVER get target so stacked up on top of each other, that they will individually take more then 3 hits.
Now, 2 hits is common, and 3 does happen. And this is a large damage gain for explosive shot. But explosive shot sucks. its one of the worst skills in the game.
Hell, it was nerfed in a recent patch reducing the direct damage it deals even more.
You are spending 30 points to buff one of the worst skills in the game? (and only when its firing on targets stacked on top of each other..)

Explosive shot scales at .324 per hit direct. 2s bleed that scales at .05, or .1 per shot.
Grenades scale at .478 per grenade. (you throw 2 default)
Shrapnel grenade scales at .524 per grenade. 12s bleed at .05, or .6 per grenade (you throw 2 default)

Even if explosive shot hits 3 times vs every target, shrapnel grenade deals more damage and applies stronger bleeds.

With coated bullets, you are better of just throwing untraited grenades.
Coated bullets vs grenadier? not even a contest.

A spvp p/p build should stop at 20 in firearms.

The 25 point passive trait that goes along with it applies 5% damage to bleeding targets. The problem is this 5% is only applied to the direct damage portion of your attacks. which in a p/p build is only 40% at best.

Pleases don’t make accusations you have no proof of.
[PRX] did no such thing.
Now, the person in question did use our mesmers to get in past outer. We attacked the seige on the outerwall. I can not confirm or deny how the orb was taken, as none of us were there. An inner door or wall may have been down as far as any of us knew, after seeing the guy running back to us with the orb. (Granted, not likely..)
But clearly you didn’t see it happen either, if you are accusing PRX, who had nothing to do with it.

Also, I do not remember any calls to head to bay at any point during the night. Are you sure we didnt go to garrison?

In WvW zerg standoffs, #4 is amazing, I repeat….amazing.
I dont use it for the acid damage…..I use it for escaping
If you ever find yourself over extended during a standoff, turn to face the enemy and tap #4. BLAM, you are whisked a long distance back to your friendly lines (without being knocked down). I often use this during assaults when I am grenade spamming the walls and want to burn those few guys down before they can get revived, or finish off killing a piece of siege.

I stand valiantly against a hail of arrow carts and AoE spam to get my last few hits in, and tap (you guessed it) #4! It usually flies me over all the arrowcart and AoE spam back into friendly territory.

Helps fending off ganks too, Knock em back and down with rifles, switch to Elixir and….#4. I now have about a football field between me and the HS spammer.

yeah. I need to test it more, but I think super elixir has unlimited targets as well. I don’t run with it that often as… grenades.. but, I have swapped to it on occasion. Pretty sure when I have dropped in in WvW with many targets, I have see it tick 10-15 times at once.
The secondary factor here is light field. AoE retaliation. Really mess up anyone trying to aoe your rams/cata’s. And of course the cond removal itself. Very strong at keeping your front line alive in a siege.

Fireball is an auto attack for a staff elem, mind you.

The Op appears to be wearing at least 4/5 COF exotics. which are glass cannon beserker.. but still exotics.
He was hit for 3 attacks after the 15k hit, which means the +20% damage to foes under 25% should not have been active. although, the timestamps on the log might be wrong. and maybe it was under 25%. +10% hes burning, +10% in fire attune, +20% under 25% hp. so we can assume +40% damage.
+25% vul, and medium armor.
(looking at an old builder atm mind you)

Fireball has .802 scaling.

Fireball damage= .802*1111* power/armor
Exotic leather armor with no toughness is 1064 armor, and 916 toughness for 1960 armor stat. (1111 is exotic staff weapon damage)

lets say the elem had 25 might stacks for +875, and all told 4000power.which is pretty high.

.802*1111*4000/1960
1818 hits.
Not sure if vul and other % buffs add or multiply. Let say add. +40% and +25% for +65%
3k hit.
Now +100% damage crit. (base crits are +50%)
6k crit. Still a long ways from 15k. Really. I have no idea how.

ok, yes. power increases the “attack” stat 1 to 1.
The “attack” stat has no effect on anything. it is not used in any equation.

Attack does not effect your attacks.

Rifle scales with power, grenades scale with power. why would I not use rifle damage as well? And grenades have about no hard CC. Of course you aren’t going to sit in them and only them. however, rifle does have CC as well, and as mentioned, other CC can be applied from utility and elites.
When your opponent is locked down, grenades are the highest burst damage engies can apply. Period. Quickness? grenades. This is fact. (ok, maybe flamethrower…)

This loosing a global thing is absurd. do you think other professions do not weapon swap? do you think 1 auto attack is that powerful at all?

Blunderbuss was obviously a mis-referance to overcharged shot. I’m surprised you hadn’t noticed I just swapped the name, and felt you needed to even bring it up. I thought it should go without saying…

It is a team game, grenade as a focus would be a team spec I would agree. They are hard to use when you have a heartseeker thief spamming on you, no doubt. Although that aoe blind..
