There are a lot of fabulous auction house features in Rift (a much older game) that the TP here could benefit from. They have excellent sorting options, your sorting choices are saved from one visit to the next until you change them, there’s an option to hide items you’ve already purchased and weed them out from skins and things that you still need to collect, etc.
The TP here feels archaic by comparison.
If MMO players were not getting rewarded for anything, the genre would die a very quick death.
I eventually caved and bought the game (Anet’s strategy to annoy the f2p players worked, I guess)
Yes, this is their intention. F2P for this game is nothing but a glorified demo.
the whole player base gets more from random drops
Doubt it’ll be enough to actually be noticeable. Or to keep skin costs down.
I already have 287 BL chests. I don’t really need more of those…
I’m hoping the key drop rate is significant.
I bet they didn’t increase it at all.
They could always say they did and not do it and we would never be the wiser. And even if they actually did raise it, the increase would be miniscule.
The SW chest train is likely to die after Oct. 23, so that will be gone soon, and I seriously doubt there will be a profitable farm in the new areas.
Key farming was dumb and never should’ve existed in the first place. Slaying it and increasing the Key drop rate to compensate was a very player-centric thing for ANet to have done. F2P has nothing to do with it.
The drop rate does not adequately “compensate” anyone. lol
There’s no way that they have upped the drop rate of BL keys to anything that anyone is going to even notice. It’ll be a very small percentage, bordering on nano-level miniscule.
That guy is hilarious, btw.
Because getting to level 10 the old-fashioned way is still really fast and easy. If they only want us getting 1 key a week, well, I can farm dozens of chars to level 10 in a week’s time. They obviously hate players doing this whether they use tomes or not.
Just wait and see, next they will nerf being able to get them from map completes. As I suspect many key farmers will just turn into map complete farmers instead.
I don’t doubt it. They’ll just make all map completion rewards transmutation charges for that spot and do away with key rewards altogether.
Well, killing the BL key farm has not done anything positive for my sense of game rewards.
Leveling alts to 40 once a week for 2 keys? That hardly seems worth it any longer. Leveling to 10 was relatively easy with tomes.
The logic is they don’t want us to play the game to get keys any longer. They want us to buy them with gems. End of story.
Yeah, the prices on BL weapon skins jumping to 10x or more the previous prices will really make collectors shell out the big bucks.
Could there ever be a raiding/fractal hybrid that requires agony in the future?
Probably, yeah.
How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?

So, GW2 is now just like every other MMO on the market. We’ve degenerated into raiders vs. non-raiders, the haves and the have-nots, the best gear (stat-switching anytime, particle effects) on raiders and crap on everyone else.
Cool. Figured this would happen eventually.
Is raiding going to be required in order to complete the living story in the future?
The benefit is that you only need 1 recipe of something if all of your crafting is on one character. I’ve saved tons of gold and other currencies like crests doing this. Also. if you buy the crafting expander from the store, you can have 4 crafts active at once without spending any money.
Frankly that’s your own fault and Support is going to, justifiably, say the same thing and not help you.
everyone makes mistakes.
A little more compassion and a little less judging wouldn’t kill anyone…
So today a logged in and I think Anet messed up with the patch or something, because Golem’s only takes 0 supply to make, this need serious fixing. Its a game breaking bug to WvW players, I don’t know how this huge bug could slip through Anet’s patch team, do they even look at WvW?
Don’t you read the articles from the login page? This is a scheduled special event not a bug.
@OP:
lol. If someone decides NOT to buy a game due to a 1 week event, I think they are just making an excuse.
Pretty much this.
From what I’ve seen so far, there won’t be any upgrades to structures this week. Everything flips too fast.
The downed state was something completely new to me in MMO experience when I first started playing this game. Of course, now that it’s been a while, it still doesn’t bother me. Not sure why it would bother anyone really.
Yes lore is through the story quests. But the achievements show slayer things, weapon usage, etc.
That’s the whole point of this thread, though. To have more lore in the game via a lorebook/bestiary. The story quests don’t really tell much of Tyria’s lore from 250 years ago.

It makes sense. They don’t have the money so you don’t get the account. I’m sure it’ll be reactivated once HoT comes out. They should inform players of this however.
His account was hacked. That’s what this is about.
Already done. Anet made something magical called an achievements page.
That doesn’t offer much in the way of lore at all.
This is a cool idea.
The original dailies were very open-ended like collecting 10 of anything anywhere in the world. They were easy to get in a casual half-hour’s play-through. I liked them. That being said, I can finish the PvP dailies faster now than I could the original dailies, which were very easy. They just didn’t involve any PvP.
Good luck with the Silk farm then. lol
I left the silk farm and just broke down and bought all my silk for the 3 ascended armor sets I made. lol
It’s not that it’s hard to create a list but it does go against their sales plan.
Give me a list and if I see an item I’ll have a month to save up gold and get it. There’ll never be that feeling of “kitten I need to get this now before it’s gone”.
lol Never thought of it like this. Was also thinking that something along these lines in an email to our account address would be nice – list of upcoming sales.
I still like the outfit, but yeah, my girls now all have those Greek “good birthing hips.” lol

Huh. I thought they’d said you could have a refund without starting over.
Musta misread that.
Yeah, it would be nice to have something really good to spend all my karma on.
I’d like to see another WvW tournament season.
Quaggan expansion.
NOBODY will complain about cute little quaggans swimming around.
Except for the people that don’t think they’re cute…
It’s so easy to run out of stuff to do on an MMO. Content can’t be made as fast as people can complete it. That’s why most MMO players play multiple MMOs – it increases what they can do.
Personally, I’m still making my ascended gear, so I’ll have plenty to do here until HoT unless it doesn’t come out until, like, December.
I would prefer this, too, but Anet chose to make the changes because of the achievement hunters that hated getting 1 AP for each daily done.
What I don’t understand, is why only the achievement hunters were taken into account on the change.
Agree. This would be super useful.
Also, there is a fine line between a fun challenge and one that’s just frustrating.
Developers in general seem bad at finding this balance. Too often challenging just means grindy due to some really bad mechanic or other.
I haven’t given up hope for the Revenant actually having some DPS. They could still give them some.
There is no proof of anything until Anet announces officially that there is going to be a new race.
And they haven’t. And there’s no new race for HoT, so nothing is coming any time soon regardless.
Most of these type pictures are simply altered by players as a hoot. It means nothing.
Swearing doesn’t add emphasis to anything, it’s just plain rude and usually serves only to insult people or pick fights.
Basically, yeah.
What’s really amusing is babysitting buy order bids up until the bids are the exact same price as the regular sell price. Makes me lol since everyone could have just bought the item outright and saved themselves the time.
I like it. It’s a nice change from stand on a point and defend. I’ve been in lots of good fights in Stronghold and seen some good strategy moves. Been in a lot of time running out from both sides playing really well. It’s a nice change from the old.
The most common mistake I see in Strongholds are teams that run to defend and don’t ever try to kill their enemy’s lord. I’ve been in matches where we had a clear shot at their lord, the other team hadn’t even gotten our gates down yet, but everyone is screaming about defending and is parked at our own gate. This scenario always results in a lose.
I’ve been in Strongholds games where the timer didn’t run out, but the team won without killing their enemy’s lord. How is this possible?
Weird. I never wait long for a Strongholds match. There seems to be a lot of people playing it.
