Well you can! Just upgrade your current account for 50 then buy a NEW account for 50. Much more value than some gems. And if you’re patient you can make more money from t6 mats from log in bonuses than the 4k they’d give you. Lol

The gems at half price are worth more to me.

Again, it’s a lot about perception. I don’t see it this way. I view it as paying or not paying $50 for HoT. Giving the base game away free to new players doesn’t factor into it for me.

Pretty sure if there was a new playable race that they’d have mentioned it by now, but perhaps the “challenging group content” is the skritt playable race since they’re smarter when more of them get together.

The fact that it took them so long is why people are suspicious of their motives. Besides, they didn’t correct an error exactly. The FAQ was accurate. It was the way they had us purchase the game that changed.

I remember when Rift’s NT came out and their biggest package had a huge list of items. It really felt like you were getting a lot.

This is good to remember. People that say they know the majority of players are angry/quitting the game/not ever going to buy HoT are simply exaggerating.

Hopefully, guilds smaller than 15 will be able to enjoy guild halls. It’s such a huge part of the expansion, it would too sad otherwise.

I tend to think so. There’s been significant rage at least twice before that I’m aware of and we weathered the storm. I still think the majority of players haven’t voiced their opinions one way or another, so I think time will tell if happy or sad wins the day. My opinion is that most players are probably going to get HoT sooner or later.

But can they visit the actual guild hall?

The char slot on all bundles would have avoided most of the angst.

They could have used some other things to encourage players to buy the more expensive packages and given all the bundles a char slot. So many would have been happy with this.

Maybe she doesn’t die. Maybe he finds her bow and, while he looks for her, uses it to fight until he finds her and gives it back.

Good article. I admired the way he made his case. There’s no doubt Anet could have made better decisions regarding the purchase bundles and been more forthcoming ahead of time.

Yeah, I don’t understand how a guild hall decoration equates to the open world overrun by gravestones commemorating passed on players.

I’m actually looking forward to the trait changes, as I absolutely hated the previous system. The new system will be much friendlier for me and my alts. Of course, the fact that I enjoy and do map completions on my chars also makes this new system a good one for me personally.

Personally, I don’t look at it as a bad deal for veterans overall. I’m a veteran and I’m not angry about it. Do I have criticisms about how they’ve handled everything and some of the decisions they’ve made? Yeah, I do. I understand and am sympathetic to others’ feelings and POV on this. But I’m not quitting the game and I’m still going to buy HoT at some point. As with anything else, there are happy vets and upset vets both.

Are you trying to say that the people that haven’t bought the game are inherently better, more caring, and more morally responsible than those that have? Seriously?

It’s possible they feel that saying something would just do more damage than being silent or would fall on deaf ears, anyway, given the outrage.

I think they simply believed that $50 was fairly reasonable for HoT. I’m not sure they saw the way their packages would be perceived regarding the whole new player/vet player thing coming, however.

It looks to me like they really didn’t see that argument coming, considering how easy it would have been to avoid altogether. If I had to guess, I’d say they were likely surprised by the level of outrage, though the FAQs thing was probably done deliberately.

There are always going to be people that go into any discussion with, “Oh, just shut up and stop whining. You’re being an idiot and are wrong about everything.”

Near as I can tell, they do this because it makes them feel superior. Oh, and because seeing their name in red on the forums also makes them feel, you know, special.

I dunno. My engineer, ranger, and thief just wouldn’t feel like they’re in Tyria any longer if they had something other than a trench coat to wear. It’s part of their identity now. The shock might kill them.

And for some reason, my engineer feels the need to channel Van Helsing whenever she hangs out in Ascalon and she says a trench coat really helps with that. Personally, I think she has a crush on Hugh Jackman and just won’t admit it.

The main reason people seem to be using this word so much is they feel like it is a terrific insult for this subject. That’s my conclusion since the word is usually being used in an incorrect way. “You are entitled” is just a fancier way to say “You are stupid.” Means the same thing more or less in this instance.

I’ve gotten a bunch of these. I’m actually surprised at the number of players that seem not to have heard of this scam already.

I seriously doubt they developed this for damage control. It looks like they’d planned this for the feature pack.

When they chose to announce it, however? That, I suppose, could have been damage control. lol

I haven’t pre-ordered the game yet. I’m still debating. Happily,though, the char slot issue isn’t a problem for me. I’ve bought slots over the years in order to have 1 of every profession and to key farm, so I’ve got a slot for my Rev. And I’ll get another one, anyway, since if I buy, I’ll get the Ultimate edition and it comes with one.

Dungeons are massively easier and faster at 80 so that’s why people tend to wait to do dungeons until then.
