I agree with you, OP, but unfortunately all MMOs have this. If people were more respectful, the chat would be cleaner. Talking about certain things and cussing is fine when you’re around friends and family that approve, but a public arena is where everyone should exercise more self-control out of respect for others. That’s how I personally approach chat.

You should though. You should be clear about how you feel about things and say them out loud.

Saying everything I feel and everything that comes into my head is not a decent way to live. Sorry. lol

If one of my employees is thinking about me, "Wow, she is so hot, I want to grab her and pull her into a closet and bang her good, " No thanks, I don’t want to hear this or know this.

Keeping one’s feelings and thoughts to one’s self is a very healthy and wise thing to do in many, many a situation.

Even though the new precursors and legendaries are account-bound, Evon is going to get his due because, almost certainly, the mats for the new precursors/legendaries will, in fact, be very tradeable and gold-spending will be involved. Probably in amounts never before seen.

I hope crafting the precursors are a grind and not something that can be completed in a matter of hours.

Without a doubt, precursor crafting will be a grind that will make crafting 3 sets of ascended armor look like a champagne brunch.

You can convert T5 to T6? In what? The MF? But that’s trading 4 T5s for only a chance at a T6. Most of the time, what you’ll get for your 4 T5s is 1 T5. Right?

Ya, i got a problem with dye's

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Celtic Lady.3729

I, too, miss getting dyes from harvesting plants and killing mobs. I used to love to run around the world maps and kill mobs because there was always a chance I could get a dye to open and add to my collection. It was lots of fun.

I feel bad for new players that will never have that kind of fun.

Exploiting dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

I have a question. Are dailies working as intended?

To get the 10 daily achievement points, players have to complete 3 objectives, which can be in PvE, PvP or WvW. Apparently, PvP is by far the easiest, and the fastest.

Why? Because players exploit the hell out of this game.

Players join Practice Mode, and when their team is losing, they go in spectate mode to trigger auto-balance, then join the winning team as soon as someone gets switched. This way, they’re guaranteed to have their winning daily, and now that they’re in the outnumbering team, they get all the free kills, free rewards, and boom, daily done.

But it gets better. “Daily servers” are getting more and more popular. Players go there to literally let each other get the daily objectives. There is no absolutely no PvP involved. They just let themselves get killed three times, then kill the other AFK player three times. They let one team win, then let the other team win the next match.

Of course it’s working as intended. GW2 is promoted as a “play the way you want” game. If a person’s idea of fun PvP is to enter an empty map with a friend and get all their dailies done and no one joins them, then that’s their prerogative. No harm. No foul.

Traits Part 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Celtic Lady.3729

All they would have to do to make this better is revert the buying your traits from a trainer to exactly the way it was before while leaving the events aspect of getting them in place. Then everyone is more or less happy. People that want to grind events on every character can and people that want to buy them can do so just the way we did before the change.

This wouldn’t even be a huge amount of work.

If I even felt as though it were possible to do everything – get every skin and mini-pet and dye color in the game, complete every single achievement, have one of every kind of legendary and ascended item on all 8 classes of characters, do every dungeon and jumping puzzle, have all crafts to max level and own all possible recipes for each, complete every map item, be max rank in sPvP and WvW, and own one of every item from the gem store – then, yeah, I would probably be able to say that I completed the game.

At least, until HoT comes out, but to be honest, I don’t know anyone that has achieved all I’ve just mentioned. Do you?

I have to say that for the people that derive a huge amount of enjoyment from the game by collecting ALL of the mini-pets, I feel very badly for you.

The huge variety of things you have to do to keep up with this, from winning competitively in sPvP to jumping puzzles to tough boss fights and achievements to playing the RNG in the store, min-pet collectors have it rough. You have my respect and my sympathy. lol

Very Questionable Gem Pricing For Keys

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

Since overall people seem to have an innate desire for gambling, they keep this method of acquiring items because they know there are people that either routinely collect everything or will want a given item (like the new black dye) to the point that they will buy dozens or even hundreds of the chests in order to get it/them.

In this way, they make more money than if they simply sold the item straight for gems in the store. Their economist, or whoever, has already run the numbers and knows they’ll make more money this way. Now, if the vast majority of players refused to play with the RNG and simply wrote off the boxes as a waste of their money, they would do it the other way.

Grind is still grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

I have five legendaries and I didn’t grind for any of them.

Strange, I have five legendaries too and I cannot recall that they magically appeared in my inventory. On the contrary, I recall following a very specific agenda in order to obtain them.

How is doing world completion three times and with that completing all the “amazing” hearts three times as well not grinding? When playing a character, neither do you just stumble over all of them, nor do you always complete them by just passing through the area.

How is obtaining 77×5 Mystic Clovers not grinding? There are very few options to obtain them outside of the MF, so you either repeatedly push your RNG-luck or you repeatedly complete one of the PvP-tracks that qualify.

How is obtaining the precursors not grinding? There is no reliable way to get those, so you will likely end up buying them off the TP. While you can obtain the gold through all kind of activities, the fact that a large majority of the playerbase will have to mandatory spend it on the precursor because they are simply not getting a drop “naturally” is grinding.

How is the large amount of materials required for the gifts not grinding? Even with respectable MF (200%+ base), the amount of mobs you’d have to repeatedly kill in order to get enough drops yourself is grinding. Same as with the precursors, that you can obtain the gold elsewhere is irrelevant.

Final note, I don’t actually mind the “grind” attached to the legendaries at all, they are the pinnacle of cosmetics after all. I just found your statement completely absurd.

While I could believe that getting one legendary ot two probably isn’t all that bad of a grind, I have serious doubts about the honesty of someone claiming to get 5 or more legendaries by falling off a log in-game, so to speak. I don’t even know how you’d do that without at least some repetitious playing with an eye to actually working on said legendaries.

When I did my legendary, I opted for the “cheap” way to do it. When I saw precursor prices dropping, I used the majority of the gold I’d been saving pretty much since beginning the game to buy one so I could craft it. That left enough money to get the 250 speciality items (lodestones, etc.) I had a certain number of T6 mats in my vault from years of playing, but I still needed to spend 600 laurels on enough T6 mats to finish. I also needed to spend some money finishing crafts I hadn’t done to 400 to complete the gifts, and I already had the other items except for the dungeon tokens, which I got in just a few days of making a point of running them.

So, all in all, I got this legendary with minimal grind since I had items saved up (gold, laurels, mats, etc.) from simply playing the game like a “normal” casual player.

However, to say I could do this one right after the other 5 more times with no grind whatsoever would be…well, lying. lol

Celtic Lady.3729

squad leaders can be bad, kicking people @ end of instances before people can get reward chests & stuff just to be an idiot. keep it as it is now.

A similar thing happened to me several times when I first started doing dungeons. The leader would loot the chest and then leave before anyone else could get to it following the fight. We’d be helping someone out of the downed state or simply running up to the chest from our ranged position during the fight and suddenly be thrown out of the instance before getting any rewards.

Grind is still grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

It seems to me like Devata wants certain in-game items, such as mini-pets, collection items, weapon/armor skins, etc. to be easier to acquire via in-game means. Some minis and skins aren’t even available in the game any longer, meaning people that play the game primarily to collect items will have a lot of holes in their collections and that isn’t fun for them.

Honestly, I don’t see what harm it would do if these items were easier to acquire overall. The sheer number of mini-pets and skins in the game, even if they were relatively easy to acquire, would take a very long time to get them all, thus negating peoples’ concerns that making items easier to get would leave people with nothing to do.

This is at the crux of her feeling there’s grind in the game, unless I’m misunderstanding her position completely.

WvW map rewards

Celtic Lady.3729

They could add map completion rewards for every map. It’s still time spent in the game and therefore it should be rewarded. It certainly isn’t going to blow their economy if they did and players aren’t going to complain about it. All in all, it’s a win-win situation.

What if mobs weren't to drop loot?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Celtic Lady.3729

Celtic Lady.3729

Killing mobs should have a chance to give loot. Period. This is a common thing in MMOs and a lot of players like to be rewarded for killing things. It’s already pathetic that personal story instance mobs no longer drop loot. We don’t need an entire world where loot doesn’t really exist.

I’ve been playing since launch, and I’ve gotten bored and frustrated with the game several times. I go do something else when it happens. Thanks to not having any monthly fee, I ignore and pick it up again when I feel like it. Only down side of this has been missing some of the LS Season 1 content that’s gone for good. I missed recipes, etc. I would have liked to have but that’s the way this game is run, so nothing I can do about it.
