It can be confusing since not everyone will automatically realize that the LS Season 2 is not regular gameplay content since not everyone was here when the game launched and therefore knows what is and is not base content. Plus, there’s LS Season 1 that a lot of people missed and may never again be available, which is a huge chunk of the GW2 story.
And coming to the game in 2015 instead of 2012 isn’t something that should be “punished” by missing out on story content, but as stated before, Anet chose to have content that was totally temporary, which was not the greatest idea overall, anyway.
I wish they’d go back to the wider variety of options for dailies, too. And give everyone 1 AP for each daily they want to complete.
Nowadays, I do something I’ve never really done before much – I sPvP for the dailies since this is now the easiest and fastest way to get them done.
The one thing I was hoping they’d mention as a feature for this is new crafting. I’ve seen nothing, however, about jeweler or chef getting expanded to 500 or new crafting tiers, etc. Maybe I’ve just missed the announcements, though.
I’d definitely want a GS on the Revenant.
RNG in this game could be weighted a little more favorably toward the player overall. So many things seem unnecessarily rare. Of course, low loot drops and less loot overall is good for the game’s profits since lack of rewards encourage players to buy gems and gold and then purchase items. But still.
I know most MMO players have alts, but I’m curious how many decided to stick with just one character and why.
Also:
What are the pros and cons of solo characters vs. alts specific to GW2?
If you have alts, do you do the same things for them all (legendaries, ascended gear, 100% completion, etc.) or not?
Why dont you just make more ascended weapons and armors? One of each set. I know is not very logical to have so much gear… but… I dont know.
This would be a good solution if ascended armor required ONLY these 3 items, but since it also involves many other items not nearly so easy to acquire, not so much.
I wish I could do something with the glut of dust, shards, and ore that I have stashed away. I could destroy it, but it would have made more sense to be able to sell it on the TP or at least vendor it. Or even give it away.
Heh, middle of the night gaming in WvW has helped me to get more than a few map items.
Is this your first MMO or have you played others much? I’m always curious when someone doesn’t like a game where they came from since prior experience tends to create expectations.
As for leveling speed, I think this game levels you fairly quickly compared to other games I’ve played like LOTRO and Rift. I can level a character here way faster than on those games. Crafting and map completions are fairly fast leveling, but there’s also WvW, which if you get a good commander that keeps moving around and taking things, the leveling is insane.
inb4 Wanze schools you on economics
LOL Anything but THAT!!!!!
Because 3/5 votes for a kick is perfectly reasonable.
It might be if it was actually in the game, which it isn’t.
…and I’ll say it again….
Personal dps meter, fine
Group dps meter, not fine
The first helps people to tweak builds or check exactly how much dmg they do with a certain set up. The latter encourages elitism, abuse, and negativity.
Yeah, this is a good point. But can you really have one in a game and not the other?
Sounds to me like two independent issues being discussed.
1. Aggregate price for silk and market velocity
2. Farming for individual mats is hardI would argue that these issues aren’t actually related and shouldn’t be discussed as if they were.
A better discussion is why farming for silk, for instance, (although all cloths are like this) has to be so difficult? What is the REAL reason cloth is so hard to come by compared to ore, lumber, and plants? Is this really necessary?
Maybe to boost gem sales, it is. Just curious since overall it makes no sense.
I guess people have just gotten used to the system. I wear outfits more than armor, though, because they’re free to change.
They have limits on reward track earnings for most everything. Some arenas have no limit, but hotjoins do, so it’s very hard to farm very much before you hit the cap.
I used to key farm regularly before the NPE. That made key farming much more time-consuming and tedious. Still, tomes of knowledge to level 10 and a quick run through of the human commoner story still isn’t too bad, but I don’t do it anymore unless I’m willing to spend the tomes on it.
This is a really nice thing. I have every dye except the expensive store-only dyes, but it’s nice to see at a glance what is out there that I don’t yet have.
If I want to level really fast in the open world, I run through each map by level and get everything but the hearts. It feels fast and the leveling from doing everything else is pretty significant on its own.
Why do you need to be green for EotM?
At least he’s funny and has some personality. I wish Traherne was half so enjoyable to listen to.
A lot of people dislike DPS meters since it’s an excuse for many players to freak out on others that don’t reach their personally acceptable amount of damage.
No, ele still has no weapon swap and neither does the engineer and neither will the new class – the revenant.
I don’t really roleplay this world for the reason that there doesn’t seem to be a clearly defined fantasy flavor or any real consistency. At some times, it seems Tyria is kind of medieval, but there’s guns and bombs. Then it seems very caveman-like primitive since Tyrians have never discovered how to ride horses, but then we also have vehicles like chuggers and the like. Aviator shades, quaggan backpacks, and such also seem to break any sort of fashion consistency.
Would these things break my immersion if I tried to roleplay? Sure, but I don’t so it really doesn’t bother me.
Yeah, WvW is still a big zerg most of the time. I don’t mind that, though, since I use the zergs to speed-level alts and get karma and loot.
Not sure what you mean by the ele staff skills. Those are still the same skills as at launch, though they did add 2 healing skills to every profession a while back. Most were lame, though.
lol I did the same thing. Bought it when it was cheap just in case I ever wanted to use it.
More commanders in EB would be nice, though. A lot of times, there’s no one, but maybe that’s not a lack of tags, just lack of interest in leading.
Overall, yes. They’ve done a lot of bugs fixes and such over the years and they’ve added nice quality of life improvements.
Would be nice if the bioluminescent set were available through PVP tracks. That would be another cool way to get the set.
Well, of course a lot has changed in 2 years. There’s no way to list it all. The trait system has drastically changed and not for the better. Dyes are account-bound is one change. There’s a wardrobe where you can see all the skins now. Living Story Seasons 1 & 2 have come and gone.
Just a few changes.
Yeah, they’d have to disable both conversions. Since I never use this feature, it wouldn’t bother me if it disappeared, but I think we all know it’s not going anywhere.
It’s all loot boxes and legendary gear from boxes that I can open without them depending on my level.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means…
What color is this gear you’re talking about? Because you obviously aren’t talking about legendary stuff here…
+10 for the priceless quote
I didn’t get any legendary items my first 10 hours of gameplay…
Dang you, RNG gods!
LOTRO has a fabulous looting system where you don’t have to walk up to enemies you’ve ranged down and loot them. You don’t even need to do anything because all your loot automatically gets put into an inventory “bag” on your screen and you just click it to open and get all your loot at once.
So wish GW2 had this. Walking up to things to loot just feels so archaic for a relatively new game.
An “Open All” or “Use All” would be fabulous.
If you’re a new player, you might have missed that crafting items have their own slots in collections and don’t need to be put in regular storage.
Other than crafting materials, I’m not sure what you’d have already to save so much of. Sell or decon the weapons you’re not using right now, etc.
I remember the thread in which people asked for an end date, but I don’t remember reading that there was an official answer to the question. It doesn’t really affect me since I ignored the Dragonball game for the most part, but I know people were trying to finish achievements for it.
No fishing in this game doesn’t bother me. I fished myself out on LOTRO and Rift already.
The Warrior is what GW2 seems to be tailor-made for. I’d say Guardian is a second to that. Shame that some classes seem to be at a real disadvantage for everything except the starter areas, though.
My Sunrise is on my Norn Warrior most of the time. Though I let my Sylvari Ranger and Human Mesmer play with it, too, on occasion. Someday my Human Guardian will be able to wield it. Happy that eventually my Asura Necromancer will be able to use it, too.
Yeah, it’s like the powers that be hate the light armor classes. Seems unfair for them to be singled out to spend 3x as much for their gear as everyone else.
Amusing how the word “feminism” and “objectivity of females” enters the conversation and all the guys get all defensive and offended suddenly. Sometimes, guys are just…priceless.
I, for one, will simply take my Necro and go visit that jungle. And that Necro just happens to be a Sylvari, too, so if there really are unique tidbits of dialogue for them (mostly “we hate you all” and “you kitten plants can’t be trusted” I’d imagine), I’ll get to see them. Then I’ll try to seek out the specialization and have fun playing switcharoo between that and Necro. And then I’ll propably start a Revenant… which might go the same way all other classes went I treid out : Abandoned below lvl 20. Or, actually not cause i have a scroll. And propably a lot of tomes for finishing dungeon-paths to get weaponcrates and the high-cost-parts of the armor, so i have my Necro equipped to brave the jungle.
Wait. They let you in dungeons with a necro?
j/k
Sounds like a plan. I’ll prolly insta-level a rev. I’m wondering if there are even going to be players in the starting areas post-launch with so many people getting 80 revs immediately.
Why they think they need to micro-manage the economy is something I don’t really get. Plus, it’s not working, anyway. Silk prices went up but most of the leather prices are in the toilet and so are the prices of silver, gold, and nearly every jewel in the game.
Seems odd to purposely spike the price in one item and let others languish. Just odd.
I don’t really do much with ascended gear, so it would be great if I could simply sell them all. That would solve the problem right there.
More often, women in skimpy armor aren’t sexy or powerful. We’re just COLD!
I meet a lot of nice people regularly in open-world PVE, but I’ve seen some truly horrific behavior in PVP and dungeons, so I think it’s less about the game and more about where in the game you play.
I’m sure they’ll add metal Speedos for every armor weight with the new expansion, so no worries.
Yeah, but Anet knows nothing about which woods are actually hard woods and which are soft ones. Just take a look at the trees that each come from and it’s in many cases, the complete opposite of reality, though it is just a fantasy game.
Meh, it would be nice if all planks were crafted from a nice, even number like 2 logs per plank. But that’s just me.
No, thanks. I hate it in other games when I buy something from Bigbalz or Urmomizhawt.
