How exactly does tagging enemies in Orr work?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I notice that if there’s 5-10 people doing events that I can acquire loot by tagging enemies with 2-3 hits. However, if there’s upwards of 20+ people, tagging enemies even 3-4 times does nothing and all I get are porous bones and the scattered blue.

Less people, constant loot. More people, no loot, no matter what I do.

I don’t know how the mechanic works with more people, or if there’s some sort of delay, or requirement of hitting the enemies first and last, but I notice a massively significant reduction in my ability to get items, AOE or not, since about two weeks ago.

Sadly my staff’s AOE does nothing to trigger loot.

Previewing items in the AH, inspecting others and dueling should have been mandatory with the release, but one can hope at least some of these things are added soon…

I agree that this is becoming a bit much.

Me and a friend have made it our goal to get a legendary no matter what. We’re getting older now and GW2 is going to be our last game before we head out into the world and put gaming behind us to a degree. We started with Phantasy Star Online, went to WoW for 5 years, and then tried every big MMO between WoW and GW2, and after a long period of downtime have decided to take GW2 to the extreme.

I already have bank slots reserved for every piece of Orichalcum and other high level mats, as well as all the other things I need to be saving and have made it a week-by-week basis to check up on the scene. If it takes months, it takes months, but with the way the Dawn/Dusk prices are gaining momentum by the week, it is honestly just driving a stake through my motivation. Do something about these precursors, please.

Just knowing that it might come to the point where I have to invest several more hours just to acquire the astronomically high amount of gold required for the precursor or have to gamble just as much money sort of kills the high.

It’s impossible to do events for the sole purpose of loot. Even with DR, one should be entitled to spending their time to acquire the miniscule amount of loot and handful of rares over an hour or however long it takes.

2-3 weeks ago tagging enemies was a chore, but it wasn’t horrible. Now there’s upwards of 20-30 people doing each event and it just looks like a ridiculous zerg.

Why not just increase the health of the enemies depending on how many are in the area, so as everybody can get a piece of the cake if they invest the time?

As melee I’m constantly behind the rangers and casters and all of that AOE.

Hi people, I would like to give away Dawn.

I’ve been following this thread for about a week now.

Currently I have full Knight’s Draconic with Berserker rings/accessories/amulet. I swap between my GS and Hammer, GS for PvE, Hammer for PvP. Stats are as follows…

2884 Attack
52% Crit Chance w/ 71 Crit Damage
2792 Armor
14,455 Health

I’m wondering if I can get my crit damage higher, and my hp over 15k.

Don’t see how I could…

I hate making money in this game. It’s an absolute chore and I don’t feel anything I do is a good way to do it. I’m always barely living above the poverty line.

I feel what you’re saying, believe me, I do.

There have been some useful tips in this thread, no doubt, but I still stand by what I said in the original post for the most part. Money making feels extremely dull in this game, and as a result I’m pretty much forcing myself to get out of the mentality that money is something that I need. It’s more of a want to drool over cosmetics.

Today I did a few CoF and AC runs and made about 2 gold just from doing those. I also got some tokens to go towards some gear and a new hammer. On the side I did a full gathering run hitting every elder wood, omnom, orichalcum and mithril node in Malchor/Cursed/Frostgorge and made the usual 2g 50s from that and a few drops.

I have no issues with making a under 10g a day, but I know that there are others out there with MS Excel really going to town on the way the TP works. I know a guy with over 300 gold and just talking to him makes me jealous. I can’t work the auction house that well, and at most I only end up making 20s to 80s after a long period of waiting, and even then undercutting and price fluctuations are a plague for me.

There’s something missing. Me and a friend hit up Frostgorge earlier and killed elementals for over an hour. All we got were claws which really go for nothing I find, ice shards and the scatter blue/green. I haven’t even seen a lodestone before.

Tomorrow is another day, and right now I’m wondering if there are set loot tables for certain enemies in this game, or if everything is random. The area near Grenth in Cursed Shore has upwards of 100 people at times lately, to the point where enemies just disappear the second they appear. Pentient path/Jofast and all those events aren’t even worth the time anymore. Things are feeling a bit dull.

I really do like the dungeons though. They are a nice change of atmosphere so far.

So it’s evident that the same bots are getting away botting in the same areas for days. Their names are the same, their antics, the same.

Me and my guild keep reporting the same bots. We stumbled upon like 20 of them at Grenth this evening and that reached the limit of anger for us. Please fix this, this is so crazy. I read in the sticky to report them for them to be dealt with, but clearly that is doing nothing and I really don’t see what’s so difficult about hiring GMs to roam Orr and Frostgorge a couple times a day to lay down the hammer.

A few of the regulars on my server (Ehmry Bay).

I understand what you guys are saying, and have been doing those things.

I can tag enemies better than some classes with my whirling wrath, and I do hit up nodes whenever I can, even the regulars, but it all feels like small potatoes in a very repetitive environment. Orr feels like a very poor end game.

I’m going to start going with the dungeons whilst doing Orr.

Farming high level crafting materials in Orr for a few hours could net you a decent amount of money.

Can’t man. 40 odd people doing every event, can’t tag anything, and diminishing returns kills it when you can. Not feasible on my server at least.

I have planned to start dungeons whenever I find people who want to.

It just plain bothers me that this game, like Diablo 3 (the last game I played), is more for those with the real life cash, or those who bot/exploited the game when it first came out than those who even want to put in the man hours.

I have no problem with grinding for DAYS, weeks, MONTHS.

I just need a feasible way to do it.

In other MMOs, you knew what you had to do.

Even if it meant killing the same enemy forever, that was fine. I had no complaints if I had to do it for days, but having something feasible to do was great.

In this game, I don’t know anybody who wants to do explorable dungeons. Any dungeon I go near is drawn out and I don’t even know if doing dungeons is a good way to make money. Orr is just full of people. All the regular events have upwards of 40-50 people doing them. Orr is a complete dead end and no longer even worth the time.

Gathering runs can only be done once a day, and flipping items on the auction house, while I’m finding it useful, is not my idea of playing an MMO.

Please help me great ones.

I enjoy the game, and after playing it, can’t go back to WoW.

WoW just feels bleak and looks dull and dreary. Dumbed down beyond belief for the younger audience. In general Blizzard games have massively gone down hill. This game has real potential, and a great first expansion or big content patches could really build momentum for interest.

Right now I’m looking for that perfect blend between survivability, damage and crits.

I’m 30 Zeal, 30 Honor and 10 Valor at the moment. I still struggle against a good few bosses in the staying alive department, and haven’t noticed a huge difference from having gone from 30 Zeal, 25 Radiance and 15 Honor. Just with the health.

My armor is power/vitality/toughness, but I’m curious about my trinkets. Should I go for crit damage over toughness? My goal overall is to do OK damage, and not die constantly. I haven’t done any WvW yet but I plan to, along with dungeons.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any way to dumb down the textures and models of other players when dealing with locations where there are just way more people than necessary.

In Orr we only need a handful of people to do an event, yet there is often 50-60+ people just totally lagging the crap out of me. Game runs fine 90% of the time except in these instances where there are way too many people doing the same thing or in WvW.

It’s really frustrating. I can handle a good few people but it just gets painful.

We’ve reached a critical point with regards to the life blood of Guild Wars 2.

Upon hovering over world selection one quickly sees that all American servers except for two, are High/Full, and Europe, mostly High with a few more Medium servers. The population seems to be doing fairly well. Lower level zones experience dips, highs and lows with regards to how many people are leveling and doing events together.

End-game for me has more or less been tagging enemies and dealing with bugged events in Orr, but even aside from Orr, there’s a lot that I could be doing. I personally find that dungeons need a lot of work, and I’m curious what happened to the overflow mechanic. In Orr I desperately wish to cut down on the number of people lagging my computer and dominating the loot, but haven’t seen this option in sometime.

I would be down for seeing a blog from developers that was updated even once every two to three weeks. As I said at the beginning of my post, this is the critical part of the game where the player base needs to feel that the wheels are in motion and that things are being planned for the game to keep people enticed and content.

The game seems to be doing “pretty good” to me.

The servers seem to be plentiful for the most part. Lower level zones while not always on the ball, have their moments where new characters + existing characters are engaging events in great numbers. No doubt though there are times throughout the day where some of these zones feel bare. It’s an up-down sort of thing.

More people reach 80, less people populate the lower zones. Getting to 80 really isn’t hard, and there are quite a few zones to choose from. For example, most people are rolling either Human or Norn, this is a fact. It’s doubtful that you’ll see Kryta and the Shiverpeaks as bare as you would see the Sylvari or Charr zones.

There’s a lot of statistical fluctuation going on now in all aspects now that “most” people are settling in, zoning in on 80, or creating a second character.

To say the game will die out like SWTOR or Rift seems wrong to me. Played both, along with Conan, Warhammer and a few others. GW2 just feels more alive than any of those did following the third to fifth weeks. You just knew what was coming.

100% agree with OP.

It’s not the difficulty of these dungeons so much. From CM to Arah, they are just way too clunky. It’s very hard to tell what you’re supposed to be doing at first, and then when you do, getting the whole party to go from zerg mode to strategy mode is something else.

Melee die far too easily in dungeons, and having to bring up downed people in general happens far too often in some dungeons, to the point where it feels way too messy.

It’s hard to approach a situation and just stand back and know what to do. People feel compelled to jump in and start dealing numbers and this mentality itself is very hard to break. Out of the 25 dungeon runs I’ve done, 23 of them have been more of a chore and annoyance than anything else.

Disappointing for the time it took to do it.

I think that PvP is the definite strong point in this game, dungeons feel way too messy. It’s really hard to get a group to work together well amidst all that goes on sometimes.

If you die, you spend money. If you run around, you attract countless enemies, and there lies the money thing again. It just feels clunky is all I’m saying.

You atract countless enemies if you try to run past everything. Killing your way through is a lot cheaper and safer.

I wouldn’t mind a small increase in runspeed but tbh I don’t want mounts. The teleport/waypoint system is way better.

In a way I don’t want mounts either, just a way as to not spend so much every time I die or want to meet up with my friend, or do a party of my storyline.

Even if porting to cities cost nothing, or some sort of hearthstone would be appreciated. I know that’s reaching into the Warcraft bag, but I often wish that I had one in my bags.

80, Guardian 8/10

I enjoy the jack of all trades role in ways. Something feels missing at times though.

Waypoint costs and the lack of mounts

I feel like I’m constantly running a parking meter while playing since 80.

I understand that mounts will never be added to the game for how the areas are designed, but between dying, either by falling off high surfaces, or for any reason, having to constantly dish out a couple silver for this transportation seems like a fault in ways. Nobody wants to trek across an entire zone just to save a few silver.

At the same time, nobody wants to spend that silver as it adds up.

This is probably my only real issue with end-game.

GW2 is Fun-Centric, not Reward-Centric

It’s modern day culture partially.

Cosmetic materialism dictates the lives of many. Without this dopamine rush many feel unmotivated and saddened by their experience.

“Fun” just doesn’t cut it for some people. They’ve lost touch with that side of their young life with regards to gaming. You can blame certain games for this and the way society is as a whole with regards to how people feel.
