So we can just add the new legendary weapons to the long list of HoT disappointments. It’s honestly getting really sad, I cant understand how things can just seem to get worse and worse.

The warrior sub forum has pages and pages and pages of great ideas … Anet has apparently seen none of them and decided to just make up silly random skills and pretend that its a big deal. It just seems like they don’t even play the game anymore. But is anyone actually surprised? stay tuned for the next “balance” patch in 4 months xD

I’m really hoping there’s a whoooole lot more because these changes literally address none of the key problems. Just slapping on more healing doesn’t fix the class … we’ll see i guess.

Raids are fun for a bit … buuut … 4 pve maps that are the complete opposite of dynamic, 5 hours of story content with no mention of LS season 3, broken pvp, no balance with specializations that are absolutely broken (either for better or worse), boring wvw, 3? new armor/weapon sets, dungeons and fractals being destroyed, painful legendary crafting, … shall i go on?
As a 10 year veteran of guild wars, I hate to say it but so far this expansion is the low point for me. I’ve gotten to the point that even coming on to do the daily feels like a chore. Hopefully 2016 brings some really great content and Anet taking a look back at what made gw1 and gw2 great.
I personally hate the adventures just in general and being forced into it to get mastery points just drove me away even more. Remember the good ol’days when anet wanted us to play what we like to play.
This part really bugs me about theses comments.

A) I don’t think anyone is rooting against pro leagues, they’re rooting against Anet half-kittening it and ignoring the community that’s asking for balance and we have to wait 3 months to hear that it wont happen. Also to say that rooting against pro leagues is rooting against gw2 growing is total bs, that’s a huge leap to make.
B) “Shame on you” for ripping PvP. Sorry … what! You even admitted that PvP was DoA on release 3 years ago and yet here we are still asking for balance, still asking for bugs fixes still asking for matchmaking improvements still asking for new modes (1 in 3 years). I mean balance … balance is the MOST important thing in pvp and you guys just seem to not care whatsoever.

WE DOOOOO!!! go look at the warrior sub forum, its pages and pages and pages of suggestions and feedback that have been ignored since bew2. We are the ones that “truly love the game” and the only time we get answers is when we rage on the forums that nobody talks to us. But its okay we’ll have a nice cdi in 3 months and then wait another 6 for anything to change.
Honestly … just no. There’s a reason that people laugh when you say esports, and it isn’t because the community is qq’ing. You have so many people that put so much time and passion into the game in all games modes and it (personally) feels like they’re just ignored. Not for the first time either

Think the last post about warriors was bwe2. Anet has always and will always be the absolute worst at balance. How they can even consider this game to become an esport is mind boggling. But hey, just toss money at it and that’ll fix it! … oh wait … it wont.
There’s a slight problem, and its a gw2 problem not a build problem. The revenant auto attack does more damage than decapitate. So you’re left with the choice of War: Less damage and less party support (in this build vs PS) vs. Rev: insane damage, insane party support with insane cc.
So for raids, it’s always a bad choice.
No question its fun, but not the best choice.
Wouldn’t even be surprised as they seem absolutely reluctant to even post about balance or classes being completely useless. Feels like they just don’t care, but sure why not “esports” ha. Since gw1 anet has taken years to balance things so why would it change now.

Bolt 3 still bugged
Tbh, i really hate pre crafting, its buggy and annoying to sit around waiting for events to spawn and the cost is ridiculous. It’s really not worth the effort to do it. This will be my first and only pre that im crafting.
Here’s my tiny list …
1) Traits: They need a long waited clean up and reordering.
2) Baseline traits: several being needed (fast hands, burst mastery etc.)
4) Gap closers : Bulls Charge should be changed to a teleport like EVERY OTHER CLASS HAS!
5) Adrenaline: Add adrenaline gain to dodge/weapon swap as baseline and reduce the ridiculous degen.
6) Primal Burst skills: Hammer, Axe, longbow are essentially useless. (Hammer should be rupturing crater: smash the ground and create a crater that pulls enemies to you)
7) Weapon skills: Axe OH needs a huge functionality buff. Hammer needs an update (compared to Rev/scrapper hammer) Just go and compare backbreaker to drop the hammer … its hilarious
8) Banner changes: They’re boring as heck, if they functioned like Herald skills or even gyro’s they would be better.
9) Heal skills: Lets be blunt here … we dont have any. Heal sig just slows our death rate by a tiny bit
10) GIVE US SUPERSPEEEEED! So sick of just getting out kited by someone walking away.
11) Fix broken traits: attack speed buffs that dont stack -__-
12) Rage skills are simply 100% useless.
13) Cleansing Ire, removing condi on hit is just silly. IF we could hit them then its cause we arent chilled, blinded, crippled, immobilized etc etc etc
14) … and this is a biggie, balance the other classes!

Simply adding % modifiers wont fix the warrior, we need trait synergy and mechanic improvements along with large weapon skill buffs. Hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg in regards to changes.
Tip: go look at other classes
it is fun … BUT! its the same thing we’ve been playing for 3 years just a tiny bit faster. The concept before HoT was the same as it is now.
Pre Hot: Sig of fury > use burst > highest dmg skills > use burst > highest dmg skills.
Post Hot: Use headbutt > use burst > highest dmg skills > use burst > highest dmg skills.
The build plays entirely the same and berserker did nothing to anything else. So yes it is fun, it is faster, it is slightly more damage but you still play the exact same build you’ve been playing for years. In regards to condi damage, im sure its close to the lowest condi damage build available and has 0 team utility. In PvP … lawl dont even.
It’s the worst spec by far and feels like it’s light years away from its competition. Warrior/Berserker needs serious work.
Although it doesn’t help that class balance is a complete joke =)

You’re absolutely right OP, other classes have simply been getting better and better while warrior has stayed relatively the same for 3 years. When looking at the Berserker on paper its great, but in game it hasnt changed anything. We’re all still playing the same zerker pure damage builds with the same weapons and same adrenaline bar. (which has also been nerfed into pure annoyance, why can every other class build up “energy” and keep it for multiple fights?)
The War/Zerk has nothing except damage, and all the other classes have been given an insane abundance of ways to avoid it. Either with dodges, blinds, evades, cripple, weakness, immunity, chill, stealth .. .blah blah. Any combination of these and the war/zerk goes to pretty much 0 damage. Furthermore the measures that were put in place years ago to address this (beserker stance, cleansing ire, dogged march) either aren’t strong enough or are simply waited out by intelligent enemies.
The problem is so clear when comparing things to other classes. The scrapper and revenant hammer skills compared to warrior are just shocking. The warrior’s hammer is so far beyond bad its painful. Then on top of it, the primal burst is just pathetic.
… Insert comparisons that we’ve been talking about for months …
I can ramble on about whats wrong with the class for hours, but the main points that i can bring up is how the class feels to play. In PvP if you win a fight, it almost feels like you only won because the enemies make mistake(s). In PvE condi is a gimmick thats still slower than physical damage and offers NO team support, and in group content the only reason we’re there is for might and banners.
Honestly (and this hurts to say after 1000’s of hours) I think people should look at the revenant as the new warrior spec. Unless we see a drastic revamp, I’ll be on my Herald. =(

Sooooooo many bugs …
5 attempts, 5+ different bugs.
No ground under rift, no reset after death, boss wont take damage, rift wont activate, no glider on the jump part, teammates wont attack anything and stand there like lemons.
Wont be trying that again anytime soon.
The maps truly amazing, however it does feel very grindy and gated. I almost feel like it would be more enjoyable to simply grind experience in verdant brink to unlock everything than to actually play it normally.
Although the second play through will be a completely different experience i guess.
Simple review, its just not worth it. In PvE its so easily ignoble and even if you do take zerker it doesn’t change your play style. In PvP its easily outmatched by every other class and in WvW .. well who really cares.
Nothing new though, same old story.
There’s still a problem that’s been bugging me for so long with the warrior/zerk. It’s that its so easy to kite, to me, its the biggest profession flaw. It’s too easy to kite a warrior when every class has nearly perma swiftness + their class abilities (blink, shadowstep, chill etc). Playing any build I always feel like they control the battle with movement and we’re just chasing them. This is just made worse by the fact that our gap closers are made smaller by quickness and are generally buggy and miss the majority of the time anyways.
I feel the Zerker is in an okay place as a spec, but testing out something new really makes it clear that some of the problems that the Zerker has are problems because of the warrior. Because we’re forced into taking stances, all new utility skills need to be ridiculous to warrant being used. Therefore when you see rage skills you’re left with a choice of survive or have a fancy skill.
Also fast hands … it just needs to be baseline, having the trait vs not having it completely, entirely, absolutely, unequivocally changes the class and being forced into discipline, in some cases just for FH is so limiting to builds. I know its been asked for about a million times (and that’s just by me… sorry), but could we have some insight on if its been tested as baseline?
Summary: Zerker is in a good spot, Warrior needs help.
Overall its amazingly better than last beta. Though there are still some weak spots that need help. However some of these are also base warrior issues.
Zerker
- Rupturing Smash: very weak and I actually preferred the old version
- Scorched Earth: Fails so much when at close range that it gets really annoying
- Rage heal and utility skills are still undesirable in all game modes
Warrior
- Fast hands pls … prettty pls
- Still reliant on stances to survive in pvp.
On a side note, Distracting strikes with Mace/Shield + longbow is suuuper fun in pvp.
Overall it seems the same, sustain didn’t get touched and the damage changes were tiny at best.
Personally i feel the problem is the sustain, an ele shouldn’t be better than a bunker guard. But oh well.
Fast Hands not base lined…sigh….

Banners, other than the buffs ofc, just suck period. They’re just boring, plop them down and go. I’d rather they just ignore them than to pretend they need anything other than a complete remake.
RR with Bezerker could become interesting. The 130% buff is a bit vague (duration? healing? both?). Though if its both we’re looking at 50% (minimum) up time with headbutt + Rousing Resilience + going into zerk mode with savage instinct. Although then you give up smash brawler … oh warrior traits why do you make it so difficult!
Last Stand is nice, still under powered compared to Cleansing Ire and aggggain the traits are being mean. Last stand and rousing resilience would synergize so well if we could use them together =(
Rifle dmg, its gonna have to be a HUGE buff to make it worth taking (doubt it) and shield buffs are nice. woot! Cant wait to see the rest.

The changes look great for the most part, a couple seem a bit odd (hammer with immob? less burning on torch?) but we’ll see in bw3. Cant wait.

After update, did 16 events then dc’ed. Came back and did 6 more and got no rewards again. :/

I always wondered this about warrior skills. The problem is keeping enemies near you, the last thing i want to do is push them away.
After playing it a lot more in PvP and PvE I cant help but think the spec wont see play. It doesn’t change anything for the warrior. The traits that the warrior NEEDS are too spread out, and it feels like the primal bursts were just given random effects without thinking of play.
PvP:
- Still needs the standard stances to survive any fight.
- Rage skills are useless
- Heal will be ignored like everything else
- Headbutt is okay, but for a power build you’re obviously going to take rampage
- The spec does nothing to address the problems that the warrior has
- Most importantly! While the Warrior feels like its staying the same, everything around it is getting far stronger.
PvE:
- In challenging content there’s lackluster DPS and no team support. So warriors will still be banner spammer might machines.
- In open world the standard dps build is far stronger
- If you DO want a condi character, the Ranger, Engi, Necro, Guard will sweep this under the table.
Primal Skills: They just don’t make sense! and they ALL need a damage buff.
Arcing Sear:
It feels like the fire field was added just for the heck of it and I really cant figure out why anyone would want to use it. Would anyone run a gs for a hybrid or condi build? Adding a burn to a weapon that has no condi and no place in a condi build just makes no sense to me! Furthermore in a power build the standard burst is FAAAAAAR superior.
I would MUUUUUCH rather have the spear primal burst, Wild Whirl (Strike all foes around you, burning and pulling them in). Then you could at least primal burst > 100b or something … but adding a fire field that the only real option is to the whirl through is pretty useless especially because anyone running a gs isnt doing condi damage!
I wont bother going through the rest of them because others already have.
The Concept
This is going to sound really odd, but the Reaper is a far better Bezerker than the Bezerker. On the reaper you can just spam might with super high dps and gravedigger … with no recharge below 50%. Yet the Bezerker can spam crappy bursts that make no sense every 5 seconds if they have the adrenaline, oh annd the reaper gains an extra health bar.
At first I thought the spec was okay, now I think its just accepting that i’ll be playing the same old warrior builds that I have been for 3 years.
The spec needs a lot of work to find any meaningful place.

I am so happy that im not crazy.
The damage/burn duration on the skills are so low that I Cant stack any condi. I Was thinking berserker with sinister gear would be my new main, and now im so underwhelmed I Feel like its possible Zerker cant be fixed….
I knew going in that it didnt work like death shroud/ reaper shroud, but I expected it to last longer for some reason. I feel like the 15 seconds isnt enough. im Well aware its build for condi/ hybrid builds, but the sword F1 stacks no burning or bleeding.
I have a million different complaints but ill let you all take care of the feedback because im heartbroken.

Something you said in there made it all clear to me why im feeling underwhelmed! The 15 seconds does feel short, though that’s not the problem. The problem (for me) is that those 15 seconds don’t feel like im doing more damage, it just feels like im doing different damage.
It’s kinda like, woooh I can swap to this stance and do this new primal skill!!! woooh … but at the end of the stance its doing about the same or less damage. It feels like more work for the same end result and with the traits organized as they are im pretty sure its less damage.
What do others think?
In general the Zerker just feels underwhelming.
Here are some of my thoughts after a couple hours of play.
Primal Skills
-The major problem The burst skills are underwhelming.
– GS adds burning, seems wasted and the normal gs burst is stronger.
– Longbow, basically the same skill
– Sword, the burn duration is realllly low (with food, sigil and traits)
– Hammer, in pvp id rather have the stuns and in pve the blowout is small.
– Axe, pathetic damage
– Mace, its interesting
– Rifle, the main rifle skills are still terrible anyways
Also,
- The damage is very low, they seem to be the equivalent to a lvl 1 normal burst?
- Skill recharge of zerk stance > burst is horrifically clunky.
- Primal skills share a recharge with their none primal versions. So for example sword burst > zerk stance > sword primal there will be a 3 second cool down on the burst. Again its clunky and awkward.
- Also not being able to see the primal bursts anywhere in the ui is inconvenient.
Torch
- Skill 4: The variations on hits can be a deal breaker. One one mob it’ll hit 3 times and be an decent skill. Or … it wont hit at all
- Skill 5: Cool, unique and interesting. Needs a damage buff and an animation for when it’ll burst.
Zerk Stance
- The 10% attack speed + quickness is hardly noticeable. Perhaps a couple seconds of super speed could be added?
Rage Skills
- I fear they wont see any play. All seem under powered and easily ignored or we already have better options.
PvP
s/t+lb is very fun, but is still entirely dependent on the stances to survive so the warrior still suffers from the same problem as always. Also the rage skills do nothing to help solve the issues of just being kitted.
Overall
The concept of the Zerker is meant to be a hybrid high burst spam, but the combos feel clunky and the primal burst and rage skills are underwhelming. Still plenty of time to play/test more, but so far the Zerker has a great thing going for it … its really fun.
Could the spear primal burst skill become the greatsword primal burst? Think if the pulls+burn into 100b potential!
Also, is there anyone that doesn’t think fast hands just NEEDS to be baseline?

I’m going to begin this post by saying that im talking about PvE and in no way does warrior need a damage buff. This post is completely about feel and opening up the profession.
Forceful Greatsword
It’s amazing and its synergy is perfect with phalanx strength. However what this means is that greatsword is the only real choice to run with phalanx. Now there are a couple of options to open up other possible phalanx builds.
1) Move might on crit to phalanx (its kinda OP at that point)
2) Move might on crit to furious
3) Move might on crit to its own grandmaster trait
The goal of this is to open up more weapons to team support and away from concentrating on the greatsword.
Banners
… without being too harsh, they’re the most boring thing ever! you click them once then it just sits there. Then you can go and carry it around! wooot! So some options for making banners more interesting could be …
1) Ventari Tablet mode summon banner: Lower the range and make the banner movable like the Revenant Tablet. (Not a huge fan of this cause floating magic banners is kinda silly)
2) Lower the recharge, lower duration. Though they’ll still sit on your bar and the only real difference is spamming them faster.
3) Remove banners and make them Anthems/Chants (gw1 Paragon ref) with short duration but stronger effects.
Anthems
This could work along the same line as shouts (they wont be shouts!) or the way gw1 paragon anthems did ex. Go for the Eyes. The idea here would be that the skills would share the same type of buffs as current banners although for a shorter duration (10seconds) with stronger buffs. This way there would be more play to them, for example a warrior seeing an allied meteor shower, mesmer shatter or own burst being cast would want to use the skill then for max effect.
An example could be:
Anthem of Discipline: For 10 seconds gain +300 precision and ferocity for you and nearby allies. 40 second recharge (same blast, range, cast time)
This is just an example, someone with better balancing knowledge could alter the numbers here
Small changes
Finally, the subject that has been discussed before so many times. Make fast hands baseline. It’s just more fun that way =). And last but not least, fix the bugged longbow burst with zerker power.
TL;DR:
Moving the crit buff away from forceful greatsword to open up more weapons/condi phalanx builds, make fast hands baseline and finally improving banner play. (and fix the longbow burst bug pls)
I’m sure there are more options that people can think of. Feel free to suggest your own ideas or constructive criticism.
